    Chapter One- 2020

Adam Davis jumped out of his bed. He motioned himself towards the shower and managed to take one. He got his clothes on and grabbed his backpack, then went out the door. He grabbed his skateboard and walked out of the garage with a blank expression on his face.

Once he got on his board he rode quickly off towards school. He noticed, along the way, that trees popped up in unfamliar places. He ignored them and popped his skateboard up, walking into school grounds. He smiled as his friend, Matt, walked up to him, like always.

"Hey Matt," Adam yawned and did their handshake," Did you notice anything strange happening around town?"

Matt looked around, twisting and turning to see what his friend was talking about. It was one of those times where he thought Adam was crazy or something, but Adam couldn't figure it out.

"No, why?" Matt asked, sitting down on the bench behind them.

"It was just," Adam looked around to see more trees," more trees are popping up."

He looked back at Matt, who was looking back at him with a look. Adam punched his shoulder and they laughed, heading to class. They walked in to their class full of chatting students and sat down at their desks. The teacher walked in a bit later.

"Okay children, sit down," the teacher said," We'll be having an earthquake drill today this period, so get ready."

All the kids in the class started to speak up again. They all loved doing the drills because it was nonsense to them. They were just glad they were getting five to ten minutes off of class time.

Adam and Matt looked at eachother and laughed a bit. Adam turned back to see the teacher's pencil cup moving around on it's desk. He looked at the papers moving around and then watched as the apple fell to the ground by itself.

Then everyone noticed it and moved under their desks when the earthquake got bigger. Screams were running throughout the halls and winds were blowing into everyone's ears. The windows busted open and Adam saw the sky darken above falling buildings.

Desks in the class fell down on children, including Adam who's eyesight went blurry. He stood up slowly and walked around a bit, watching as children were smashed underneath their desks. His eyes widened when Matt's desk gave out above him, and a big peice of ceiling dropped on top of him.

Adam walked out of the classroom and saw the lockers pulled off of the walls. He ignored them and moved to the nearest exit. Once he got outside he saw big cracks in the ground, big enough for a car to fit in. He looked in frightened awe and shook it off, moving to two peices of wood plowed to the ground.

He picked up these peices of wood and looked at the hole he and his friends made for their hangout. He walked into the hole and closed it back up.
