• "I don't want to lose you..." you say, "I'll do anything to keep you safe...to keep you alive..."

I wait for you to return from your "important business". I wait so I can see you again, even though you say that, I want to tell you otherwise. I can't afford to lose you. Just then I hear a knock on the door. I get up to answer and see a man dressed in black.

"Ma'am, I need to speak with you." the man said.

I couldn't believe what I'm hearing. As soon as the man stopped talking, I ran out of the door. I ran to where he said you would be.

"Is this man related to you? Maybe a friend? Or someone dear to you?" the man said holding up the picture of a man, in a puddle of blood.

As I got to the alleyway, they were going to try and get you to a hospital, you were still conscious. I ran beside you, you looked up at me and smiled, your last smile for me.

"Why?" I cried, "Why did this happen?"

"I wanted to protect you, from the man that wanted to hurt you..." you said lying on the hospital bed.

"You didn't have to do this!" I cried.

"I did..." you said, as you breathed your last breathe.

"No!" I cried, "You can't die!"

Even if I said that, I knew nothing could stop you. No one can avoid death, no one can.
