    Prologue

    --------------------------------------------------------

It was about Twilight when I saw the enemy cross buildingto building, thinking out loud how my brother and I would catch the fellow, it was only a matter of time before the net victim. It was 10 p.m and about an hour sharp, the enemy will have it's prey on humans, that's if my brother and I kill it beforehand.

My brother Carlisle jumped infront of me and swung his dagger behind my back, I quickly ducked and spinned, kicking the enem with my feet. "Mallory!" he called at me.

I sprung out my pistol from my trench coat's pocket, shooting a couple times as trying to strike it's heart, however, we couldn't get a good glimpse of what the identity of the enemy was, it was dark now, and I couldn't see the area around me, I became only a bit frightened, breathing heavily, Carlisle stood at my side as we both new it wasn't wiseto be alone at this time, it was a bit chilly and the gibbous moon shone in the dark sky. Filled with darkclouds, black crows hawks flew by outrageously, not a sound was heard.

Carlisle and I began hearing tapping noises as he would turn his back to mine, bothof ushad our pistolsin both hands, aiming and ready to pull the trigger.

Carlisle than whispered to himself and I couldn't well make out the words except 1....2.....3..,I lift my index finger up to the shades I wore over my eyes, clicking the button on the right side. A small telescope developed in my shades and I was able to look in the dark. "Agh! Carlisle beneath us!" I found, we jumped back as our enemy dug our from underground. The creature stood 7 feet tall and it had the skin of a reptile, and of course, no hair.

"Mallory, stay guard and out of the way, when I say shoot, you aim your gun and shoot!" Carlisle called out, I nod my head in agreenment.

Thetail of the creature was incredibly long, about 34.5 inches wide, I blinked twice before taking multiple steps backwards. I tookd my shades off and folded them, placing them back into my pocket.

Carlisle on the other hand, kept his aim and waited for a perfect shoot, however, this creature was quick and traveled circling around us tremendously, starring at us, it was to the point we were back to back onceagain.

I shot at the creature and I felt my brother yell. "Mallory, you idiot!" he yelled angrily, the creature had began to go crazy, swinging it's tail at me, unfortunately, Carlisle pushed me aside, and instead of my injury, Carlisle was injured terribly by the hit of the tail, the creature died, turning into ashes moments later.

I turned to looked at the creature as it dispatched, but when I took eyes back upon my brother, he was gone. He was no where to be seen. "CARLISLE!" I cried out, as it was the last I have said.

    Chapter One

    ===============

4 years has passed as we looked upon an old cemetary, a woman, brown hair and had tight curls, she woredark make-up and a black gown with a veil to the cover of her face, she over-looked the grave. She sighed quietly and turned around, walking to exit as she came upon a man older than she.

It was about late 1900s, San Lee Souther California. The man had given her a scare, shivers went down her spine and you could see goosebumpsamong her pale white skin. "You smell like blueberries." the man told her, she crossed her arms across her chest. "Well, you smell like an oragutan, why are you following me?" She asked rather curious, he stepped back with a frown.

"I'm surprised you've been keeping eye on me, Mallory Pike." With this, Mallory turned back another direction, she eyed him again. "Why don't you come back into business?" he asked, taking a few steps closer to Mallory, she growl andnearly snapped. "I HAVE MY REASON!" Mallory grumbled a 'jerk' under her breath and took off, walkingin a quick pace.

"Is it him? For thereason you quit?" heasked, she tapped her bottomlip with her right pointerfinger. "Your name is Darl Cunnigham." Mallory said, her left handonher hips, he smiled with amuse andinterest.

"So you haven't really changed, your still reading people."
"What is it you want from me?"
"For you to return to business."
"No happening." Mallory argued, walking on as she left Darl standing n thought, he watched her leave with a laugh. "You will come into business." was all he said, as the wind started to pick up lightly, old fallen tree leaves ruffled together as the wind carried them, it was about early fall in September.
A raccoon was sitting on the lid of a trash can, trying to pry it off the can, however, failed to do so.
