Kayla's Journal
This is an account of Kayla's experiences at The Barton Academy of Gaiamancy.
Monday morning brings me back to Elementry Field Manipulation (or E.F.M. as they call it here) with my nightmare teacher, Mr. Horitt. I made sure not to be late this time. I actually woke up at 5:45 today in anticipation of getting to class. I arrived fifteen minutes early, then started to doze off in my seat. It was Horitt’s booming voice that jolted me awake. Right off, he began to quiz us on the material we were told to read. Did he call on me? Of course he did, but thankfully, I knew the answers. I could tell, though, that he was not expecting me to be correct. The rest of class was uneventful, except that he made a remark about students who expect to do great things without knowing any of the fundamentals. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I couldn’t help thinking he was talking about me.

Anyway, my Tools and Materials class was fun. Mrs. Unni demonstrated the energies that exist in each of the different states of matter. She subliminated a block of ice with the palm of her hand. Changing something from solid to gas without a phasing sigil is pretty impressive. Mrs. Unni says we’ll all be doing that by the end of the quarter. I hope she’s right. For the rest of the class we took various materials and broke them down into their compositional elements and took lots of notes.
