Kayla's Journal
This is an account of Kayla's experiences at The Barton Academy of Gaiamancy.
I am soo totally exhausted from the past two weeks. I had two class projects and two killer exams, Practical Gaiamancy I and Elementals. I sweated all through the first one, P.G.I., calculating gaiamantic yields and graphing mutable energy fields. I remember last quarter, when I thought tracing the path of one field was hard. Well, try doing it with five different fields, each of them constantly growing and changing shape. It didn’t help having Mr. Horitt pacing around the room the whole time.

But, it’s all over now. Or at least that’s what I thought. Immeadiately after handing in my test, Mr. Horitt stops me, saying “I’m going to have to see you later. 7:30, my office.” I felt my chest tighten and my heart sink into my stomach. What could he possibly want to see me about? I know he hates me. I thought it must be my project. Something when wrong with it, and I’ll have to do it all over!

By the time 7:30 came around, I had bitten my finger nails down to the nubs. I convinced Dottie to accompany me, because there’s no way I’m facing “Mr. Horrid” alone. When we got there, he called be inside and Dottie waited just outside the door.

“You don’t like me, do you?” That was the first thing he said. Before I could answer, he continued. “Of course you don’t. None of my students do, but you have a special loathing for me.” Once again I could feel the sweat running down my side. I stammered for something to say, but Mr. Horitt kept talking without the slighting interest in any response I might have.

“Yes, and you know why? It’s because I push you harder than anyone else. I’m relentless since nothing you ever do seems to be good enough.”

He paused and stared at me in awkward silence. Then I finally got the nerve to speak. “ I don’t know what it is I ever did to make you hate me so much, but if this in about my project, I want you to know that I worked my tail off on it.”

“I don’t know why I bother to waist good antagonism on you,” he said “You’re so thick-headed that you still don’t get it yet.” By now. I was about ready to explode. I’m so tired of the way he treats people like dirt.

I shouted, “If I don’t get it, it’s because you cover everything over with dregading insults.” I don’t know where it came from, but as I motioned at the desk, a stream of flames shot from my finger tips, and ingnited a stack of papers. Mr. Horit was quick to put it out. I expected the man to have a fit, so I quickly apologized. But, Mr. Horitt never said a word.

Well, I have things to do now, so I’ll have to continue the story later. ^^;
