as the years passed, ann had taken extra curricular activities, made friends at school, and for the most part had a normal life. When they had started school, ann had to write half the things she wanted while naruto helped with the other half

in middle school, one of their classes had introductions for the first day of school, after another hard time of roll call
anko~so...ann was it? If it isn't too difficult, can you tell us something about yourself?
Ann nodded and looked at naruto and he stood up too
anko~oh so you two are siblings?
naruto~kinda. i guess it's more of ann was adopted and I stay there since my parents travel a lot
ann~ "i'm not adopted, you know that. My uncle had left me with kakashi and iruka"
anko~what'd she sign?
naruto~she just says that she feels left out since the technical legal issues are difficult
ann threw a notebook at him
anko~that isn't what she said is it?
naruto~not really...
anko~well then, ann do you want to continue with having him translate for you?
Ann nodded before signing again. Naruto translated as he gave her notebook back
naruto~my full name is annaliesalayoshi momochi-maboroshi. My whole name is only used when i'm in trouble, so i'm always referred to as ann. I take gymnastics and tae kwan do and on the weekends I swim. I wasn't born mute, it just kinda happened when I was little. People also mistaken that i'm deaf, because I sign. But that isn't true. I can hear as well as anyone else. I love to read books and manga and play video games
anko~gymnastics? How long have you been in that practice?
naruto~since elementary. We saw an action movie and our guardians enrolled us together. I didn't like it as much, so I only come to help translate. We still take tae kwon do together though
anko~do you think you can show us something?
naruto~she asks if we can move the tables first to make more room
anko~well, what about you class? Will you help them for a quick performance?
class~yeah!
naruto~which one do you want to do ann?
Ann~ "the one we did last week"
naruto~we need two people for that one
ann~ "why not sasuke?"
naruto~why him?!
Ann~ "his family is practically the whole police department. He should have the strength if he's gonna be a cop too"
naruto~fine. Sasuke! Ann asks if you could help us out...
sasuke~me? Why me?
naruto~she says it's because she knows your dad and knows what your family does. She says that if you're anything like the rest of your family you can help
sasuke~what's my dad's name?
Ann sighed and signed the letters to his name
naruto~she spelt f-u-g-a-k-u. Fugaku?
sasuke~alright. What are we doing?
naruto~stand here, and squat a little. Ann's gonna climb onto our shoulders
naruto went to the other side of sasuke and stood slightly in front of him, but still close enough so that their shoulders were fairly aligned. Ann held onto their shoulders, and stepped onto naruto's leg and pushed herself up into a hand stand
naruto~okay, lift your hand up level to your shoulder. She's gonna move her hand to yours
she moved her hands one at a time to theirs, and they slowly lifted her higher
sasuke~how does she get down then?
naruto~very slowly
they lowered her back to shoulder height, and then she lowered herself down before dropping to the ground. Ann smiled and patted both their heads
anko~that is very impressive. Do you plan on joining the cheer leading team in high school?
Ann shook her head and signed
naruto~she says that they probably won't accept her because she can't cheer, and that she doesn't like the idea of the uniform panties being exposed
anko~but don't you perform for gymnastics?
naruto~she has those leggings like leotards so it doesn't feel like that

after school they all hung out together waiting for their rides to come
sakura~and to think, that for how long we've been friends we should be able to pick up on some of your signs by now huh ann?
Ann~ "yeah, but that's okay. It's only a pain when naruto isn't around."
ravi~do you have anything later tonight ann? I was thinking we could play online
ann nodded and smiled, then sasuke got up
sasuke~my dad's here. Later guys
ann smacked naruto and signed him quickly
naruto~she wants to know if she could say hi to him.
sasuke~yeah
they followed him to the car. Sasuke opened the door and ann looked in and waved
fugaku~ann? You sure have grown
she nodded and then signed to naruto
naruto~she asks how you've been
fugaku~so you are mute...has it been like that since the...accident?
ann nodded and rubbed her neck
fukagu~i'm glad you're able to cope at least, but we need to go. Come on sasuke. Take care ann, naruto
sasuke~later guys
he got in the car and they left. Ann and naruto went back to the others
ravi~so you do know his dad
ann~ "why would I lie about that?"
sakura~because you like sasuke too?
Ann made a face causing naruto to laugh
ravi~then who do you like?
Ann blushed and shook her head
sakura~what about you naruto? I bet you know?
naruto~hey don't pull me into this. She hits me hard

in high school, it was well after school and some of the girls from the cheer team had found ann and naruto
sakura~ann! I'm glad we found you. We need your help!
Ann~ "what can I do for you in cheer? I can't speak"
sakura~that's okay! You don't need to speak. Look we need someone to replace ino's role, she hurt herself just now and can't preform tonight.
Ann~ "but why does it have to be me?"
sakura~because you're the only one we know that can do this and stays after school late. Please.
Ann sighed and nodded
ann~ "you owe me. Naruto tell kakashi and iruka i'll be staying for the game"
naruto~ "please don't kill anyone...i know you don't like most of the girls in our class. It's bad enough they're also in cheer."
ann~ "don't worry. Ino's the one I hate most anyway. I get to steal her spotlight"

after school one day a boy found ann and introduced himself as haku
haku~you are ann momochi right? do you mind if I spoke with you?
naruto~she doesn't speak.
haku~that's okay. I just need for her to listen. I didn't know he had family, and I just want you to know, ann, that i'm really grateful for what zabuza had done for me
ann stared at him in disbelief and almost fell, if naruto hadn't caught her
naruto~no one really says his name so...
ann~ "what did my uncle do for you?"
haku~he helped my mother win a lawsuit against my abusive father. If it weren't for him,i don't think my mom would have won the case.
naurto~was he a lawyer or an investigator?
Ann~ "investigator by trade, but he studied law and started out as a lawyer."
