A Touch of History
This will mostly contain history stuff.
Friday, October 7th, 2011
* Yes, I've seen the footage of the brutal police beat downs of unarmed, unresisting protesters. The group night stick beatings and group kickings of downed folk curled into balls is reminiscent of archive footage of that infamous democratic convention the year before I was born Luckily, no one was killed last night.

* The DC March, was actually a scheduled Peace March, that reached out to the Occupy Wakll street folks to combine. It an older crowd than the New York protest. Ugliness is clearly brewing in San Franscico, so I'm expecting more police brutality there in the near future.

* Glenn Beck is joining the chorus of right wing voices calling occupy Wall Street protesters NAZIs.

* RIP Derrick Bell, who's accomplishments are difficult to sum up, so I'm just sending you to the obit: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/06/us/derrick-bell-pioneering-harvard-law-professor-dies-at-80.html?_r=1

* Civil rights activist Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth is also gone. it seems it's already a rough month for civil rights activists: http://www.chicagotribune.com/site/newspaper/news/sc-nw-shuttlesworth-1006-20111006,0,1384310.story

* Hector let me sleep until alarm time, which i did not resent. It's sounding like my beurocracy is mostly through it's trip through the bowels, and i need to go down to sign papers which should make housing search a little easier. I hope.

* This particular pathogen isn't that bad as these things go. My throat is sore and I'm coughing, but I can still breathe lieing down. I have a head and muscle aches, but compared to the AS and the fibro, it's nothing. The real issue is the fatigue. everything takes three or four times as long as it needs to and what I really want to do is sleep, not deal woith all these errands and apartment crap. It's costing about 4-6 spoons extra a day and I don't have a lot of spoons to start with.

* AMC is running a bunch of little webisodes with back story from a certain someone from season one, episode one of Walking Dead as a promo for season two. Obviously warning for zombies and violence. It starts here: http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/videos/the-walking-dead-webisodes-1-a-new-day

* I saw American Horror Story. Extra points for the creepy baby photoes in the opener. The premiere was promising, though devoid of divercity except for one intellectually challenged character who's portrayal is not even close to posative. The acting's beautifully unnerving. It's got a Shining sort of feel plotwise, and a lovely, creepy american gothic design aesthetic. I'm willing to give it more time, for certain as it has a lot of potential. i do think it was more watchable than Bedlam, but I'm giving them more time to jell also.

* Happy Birthday, crotalus_atrox!

* John Stewart on the Opposite Day coverage of Occupy Wall street: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-october-5-2011/parks-and-demonstration?xrs=share_copy
