A Bit About Gaius


Name: Gaius Harper

Basic Stats:

Height: 6'2"
Weight: Somewhere in the low two-hundreds
Build: Quite muscular, but toned rather than bulky. He has particularly built arms and chest/stomach.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Brunette; It's stuck in that sticky-uppy style, unless he drowns it in mousse. It'll only stay slicked-back if it's drenched, and even then locks of it spring back up as soon as they begin drying. It's annoying when he's trying to look nice, but something he's gotten used to.
Complexion: He usually has a good tan going from working out in the sun so much, giving him a healthy glow. Thankfully, he doesn't mind going shirtless if he's not on a professional job, so his tanlines aren't too bad. ;3

Clothing: He's normally found in sturdy blue jeans, usually with some kind of stain on them, though he has some nice pants and suit jacket for meeting with clients. Lots of t-shirts of varying colors, and a nice comfy brown jacket. Not much, everything that he wears is durable and functional.

Likes: Working with his hands, building, cooking, family gatherings, cooking and barbecuing, singing in the shower, reading novels
Dislikes: Disloyalty, back-stabbing, selfishness, abuse, being put on the spot (he has mild stagefright ;3), having to do the dishes after cooking

The Mind of the Guy: He's a simple guy at heart and has simple tastes. Normally he's quite cheerful, or at least optimistic, often giving people the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, he happens to be a bit gullible too. His friends love leading him on and on with crazy stories, until it's painfully obvious and Gaius finally catches on. Though that takes a while because he can be a bit thick-headed at times. The subtler hints are lost on him, usually going right over his head. He doesn't mind, though, he just laughs it off because it's all in good humor normally.

He's immensely loyal, going along with his optimism. Once you're his friend, it'd take mass murder to break his faith in you, and he'll defend you to his last breath. Plus, he's dutiful; If he gets hired for a job, he's gonna stick to it until it's done, no matter the pitfalls. He prides himself on keeping his promises.

Normally he's not one to lose his temper nor resort to his fists, but if pushed far enough, he can pack a mean punch. And believe me, he's scary when he's angry. O_o

However, there is one thing that will drive Gaius to violence in a flash, and that's mistreatment of women. Whether it's physical abuse or taking advantage of a woman when she obviously doesn't want it, or even when she does want it, he will leap into the fray and pound some faces before anyone even realizes what's going on. You do NOT mistreat a woman when Gaius is around!

At the same time, Gaius is immensely shy around attractive women. He starts sweating and his tongue gets tangled in his throat and all his thought processes seem to fall over each other when he'd just like to make a good first impression. Ah, poor guy!

Occupation: He works as a contractor for various construction jobs, from houses to public buildings. His hope is to one day be an architect and get to design the structures he builds. Currently he's part of a company and manages a group of guys on projects, but he has his resume out hoping to get better-paying high-profile jobs. Not that he doesn't love the guys he works with, but he does have his dreams!

Hobbies: He loves to cook. Major passion. The cooking channel is regularly on when he's sitting around his appartment. Everything from broiling steak to baking cookies, he loves it! It's a bit of a creative outlet for him, a change from the exactness of architecture and a chance to be more random and throw a bit extra in to just 'see how things turn out.'

An interesting note, Gaius has a great tenor singing voice, but he hates singing in front of people! It makes him immensely nervous and uncomfortable. But, sometimes he catches himself singing while he's working, and he's notorious for singing full-force in the shower.

He's also a big Nascar fan and loved to watch it with his dad when he was younger. They'd fiddle on their family car, and Gaius still has the wooden race car he and his father built for a ramp race - it got second place. He takes it with him wherever he travels, a bit of a confidance booster and reminder of his dad.

Goals: On top of becoming a successful architect, Gaius is searching for that special woman to fall in love with. He wants to marry, buy a bit of land to build their dreamhouse on, settle down and have a bunch of kids to raise. He's a big softy for little kids.

My Own Notes: Gaius is an adaptation of an original character of mine by the same name, except the original doesn't have a last name. Different upbringings and worlds, considering the original was from a fantasy world and worked as a warrior in the Warriors Guild, but the personalities and appearance are largely the same. It's more of a modern day rendition of Gaius ;3 He still maintains that chivalrous idealism to him, and I bet if he could, he would have been a knight at some point. All he really wants is to find the perfect damsel and to be her perfect 'knight in shining armor' in marriage. ^_^

Blueprints For A Pegasus

The Pegasus



According to Greek and Roman mythology, Pegasus sprang forth from the sea when drops of blood from the severed head of the horrible Medusa mixed with seafoam. He was befriended by a young man named Bellerophon and together the two performed many heroic deeds. But as so often happens with mortals, Bellerophon let his reputation get the better of him, and decided to ride Pegasus all the way to Mount Olympus, to join the gods. This would not do, so Zeus, king of the gods, sent a horsefly to sting Pegasus, who bucked and threw Bellerophon to earth. Pegasus was then allowed to join the gods in the sky, where we see him today.

The Fell Pony



Breed Temperament: Fells are survivors par excellence; constitutionally tough, but sweet natured and willing to work with you. Trust, plus soundness and intelligence, are the Fell's biggest assets. However, the Fell temperament is similar to other British native pony breeds in that the instinct for survival has been bred into them for centuries. Because of this, Fells can provide a challenge to the inexperienced or unwary person. A British native pony is bred to think for himself, take charge of himself, and survive.



Breed Appearance: A good animal's head is pony-like, broad across the eyes, deep in the jaw, with small pricked ears and a well chiseled muzzle, neither very fine nor coarse, and with firm rather than drooping lips. It has a good length of rein emphasized by a well sloped shoulder. Its mane and tail are fine, straight and profuse, and the back is not too long. Fells usually have lots of straight silky feather - long hair fringing the back of the lower leg and hoof - and long silky manes and tails. Fell Ponies are primarily black, although some browns and bays exist.

The Wings



Soaring Birds tend to have broad wings. The breath of this wing type and the arrangement of the slotted primary feathers make it most efficient for soaring over land. Slotting permits each primary feather to be used as a separate airfoil.

Ideal 100% Appearance

In his final form, I figure Gaius will largely be essentially an anthro horse with wings sprouting from his back shoulder blades. His toes will have melded and feet stretched out into digitgrade hooved feet. Fairly muscular, especially across the chest to power his wings (plus, I'm a sucker for well-toned guys xd ). His face will be horse-like, though hopefully his eyes will still largely face forward, though set a bit wider as his muzzle's pushed them apart, and it'd be fun I think if they were still blue to contrast against the black of his body. Speaking of black, I imagine his hair would've turned black over the process as well. Not sure about his hands, he's not going to have the benefit of cleft hooves, so it might be interesting for all his fingers to merge together by the end, except for his thumbs. Or he might keep his index finger, dunno, I'll leave that up to the artists! ^_^

Why a Pegasus?

Why did I choose a pegasus for Gaius? If I wanted his black wings, like the original character he's based on, why didn't I just choose a bird and get the extra limbs serum? Well, I know someone was already questing for a raven. I could've gone for a gryphon, or a hyppogryph, I suppose, but... I thought a horse fitted his nature more, and the Pegasus has always been a heroic figure. Plus, I've been on a hoof-obsession lately. whee

Story-wise, after the whole Zach-Aubrey incident, Moreau is not going to be so keen on mixing dangerous predators to create any of Sabin's mythological creatures. To prevent such future instabilities, an experiment to test whether the blend of a herbivorous, more docile animal can balance out the instincts of the predator would be feasible. Sure, it's not as grand as building a dragon, but it's bringing a legend to life!
