The night was young, but Sophie already wished she were home. As cheerful as she normally was, social events made her squirm inside and out, her ears sensitive to the blaring music that in a normal situation she would have enjoyed. If only Gavin were here...wait. Nevermind. Gavin would more than likely be flirting with one of the other guys. Not to mention he might've already begun some strange transformation.

Leaning against the wall, Sophie looked to the left and right of her, noticing noone else playing the part of wallflower. She sighed, the brushed the one annoying bang from the middle of her face to behind her ear. Dances sucked. She didn't even like to dance! Why was she here?

Other than the fact that her teacher stuck her on an island full of animal people...

She slid to the ground, sitting herself in an indian-style position that allowed her to watch the people dancing without having to strain her legs. She tried not to think of what her professor had done to her: after all, it was supposed to be a party, right?

((Basically, someone decided to throw a party, and all the Islanders are welcome to come! Expect craziness to ensue, as I'm sure it might be hard to dance with two left paws. You may have your character already partially into their transformation process, if you'd like, but I'd prefer not having to explain to a new person why the one under the disco ball has a muzzle. Save it for another roleplay: this should be fun!))

What was it about dances Mitchell loved oh so much? He had no idea. Maybe the after dance with Elissa; ... I mean, what? Or maybe it was because it was an excuse to drink? Well, he was 100% sober at this dance because this was sure not to be a boring dance.

So there he was; in the middle of the dance floor with humans and half-humans alike surrounding him. He'd been on the island for just under a month now .. and he was obviously going to become an animal soon enough, but at the moment that didn't phase him because, baby ..

Music makes him lose control.

Though ... a part of him felt guilty .. or sad? It's been a month since he's seen Elissa last .. all he has is a picture back in his duplex. A part of Mitchell felt he shouldn't be there .. he felt he was betraying Elissa in some way shape or form. But the new thought crossed his mind. It's been a month .. they probably think he'd dead. And that Jack guy ... that f**ker that's in Elissa's class. The guy who's had the hots for her since day one of grade 10 ... he's probably got her now .. she's probably at a dance of her own .. and he's probably all over her.

Whatever, there was no use 'emoing' about it now. He was there to have fun, and that's what he wanted to do ... no matter what.

It was then he noticed .. the wallflower.

Gallen sighed at the bad DJing, being a radio personality before he was brought to the island he knew how to flip and run disks to keep the mood going. At the same time he swore that if they played one more bad hip hop song he was going to use the speaker cords to string the DJ up and hang him from the disco ball, even if they hand fangs and claws.

As Gallen smirked at the image in his mind he saw a young lady sitting by the wall. Obviously she was not having fun either, he walked over figuring it be fun to at least be miserable with someone else, instead of heading back to his duplex and read a book.

"Hi so this party getting you down too, huh." He had a slight Irish accent and pretty green eyes. He was 23 and was short, about 5'4".

As the song changed, Sophie shifted her legs so that blood could more easily flow into them. Deciding that either way, her legs would cramp, she resorted to standing once again, becoming slightly frustrated when she stumbled while getting up. That was it. Dances were for losers anyway. She was about ready to walk out of the room entirely when her eyes caught the sight of another.

He was looking straight at her.

Instantly, she averted her gaze, embarassed, but her heart had nearly stopped. There was a guy looking at her. Weird. She knew she shouldn't have over-reacted, but it had slightly startled her. So, taking a deep breath again, she shifted her weight onto the wall, trying to concentrate on the changing lights and not if the person was still watching her.

However, such focus in the lighting caused her to nearly jump out of her socks upon hearing a voice so close by. A voice directed at her. She turned, smiling weakly, then looking down. "Yeah, not so much bringing me down, but more so in that it's no fun to not know anyone here." She looked up again, catching a glimpse of the man's face: he seemed to be still human, like herself. "So...how long have you been here?" It wasn't the best of questions, but hey, at least she was trying.

If there was one thing he liked about dances, it was the free food. It didn't cross his mind that it was just the same fare likely snuck out of the cafeteria, so he happily piled up his plate with a variety of cheeses, crackers, fruits, carrot sticks, and a few sugar cubes he pilfered from the coffee area.

Munching happily and bobbing his head to the music - good stuff they were playing! - Gaius stood near the food bar. There were people dancing, but he wasn't willing to step out yet, not until there were others to keep the attention off himself and his clumsy white-boy attempts at rhythm.

Thinking back, he still marveled at the bizarreness of the island. Only a couple days before he'd still believed it was a theme park and all these animal people were just costume characters - Now he knew better. Still! He was human, there was food and music, and people seemed happy. It'd take more than the prospect of a life on an island and being turned into an animal to dampen his spirits! So, undaunted, he continued to grin boyishly and hum along with the music.

Dances. Loud, short social gatherings that usually involved dancing, the consumption of finger-foods, alchohol, and the occasional bout of Karaoke. No, it never does sound quite as appealing on Paper as it actually is. Still, the short young man named Marshall found himself at the open bar, with a coke in his hand. No, not a Coke and Rum, just a Coke. He never really could hold his booze, and he was not ashamed to admit this.

Despite usually being the "Social Butterfly", Marshall couldn't help but just sit on his bar-stool and see who was doing what. There was Gaius, enjoying the music and food, Gallen talking to Sophie, who was in turn being the shy wallflower Marshall knew her for, and Mitchell, enjoying the music more than any one.

Marshall found himself smiling as he sipped his Soda, for the simple fact at how...Normal every thing was. A teenager at a party was normal. Two pratical strangers flirting was normal. And his new freind Gaius enjoying food while trying to hide his inner song bird was perfectly normal.

So what if they were turning into animals? Normality is in the eye of the beholder...

Sophie smiled, grasping his hand in a firm shake, then quickly withdrawing. "The name's Sophie, and it's very nice to meet you." She laughed, then looked at the crowd. "Though I have to say, 'Baby Got Back' is actually a pretty amusing song..."

Finally, she met eyes with someone she knew: at least, sort of. She'd never really gotten into deep conversation with him, but hey, she must've visited his site about a million times. Marshall seemed to be at ease with the crowd, and even if they didn't know eachother that well, even if Marshall was already fawned all over by the princess whats-her-face (Sophie was horrible with names), she could at least talk to him about Sno Cone, or something.

"I think I see Marshall over there," Sophie commented to Gallen, making it seem he had just noticed the other man. "I'll talk to you later, okay?" Once again, she smiled her innocent, friendly grin, then began to walk to the other side of the room, accidentally getting caught in the dance floor for a few unsettling moments. She swore on that moment that if she ever got that close to being in a furry, scaly mosh pit again...

Well, it didn't matter, for she was already out of the danger zone. Casually, she waved to Marshall, then took a seat beside him, twirling in her swivel chair before facing him. "I figured you'd be with the princess," she said, looking around for the girl in yellow. "Either way, you seem to be enjoying yourself. How're you holding up?"

" 'Ello there Sophie." he said with his normal warm smile as he poured himself another Coke, "I'd say I'm holding up just fine. And how've you been?" he asked her as he put the now-empty can down by the last one.

"And no...I haven't seen Iona in quite a while actually." he said with a shrug. "It kind of stinks. I liked hanging out with her." The way Marshall talked was rather perplexing; even when he would say some thing that would make any one else mopey, he kept that same cheerful smile.

"Oh, and um, by the way...Have you met Gaius yet?"

Gaius reached for another carrot only to find to his great dismay that he was out! Oh shock! Oh horror! Oh- oh well! He was in need of a drink anyways, so, turning on his heels, the well-muscled guy headed back to the foods to restock. As he moved on toward the bar, he caught sight of Marshall, a recent aquaintance and very nice guy - they'd exchanged recipes earlier! - and a strange girl he had yet to meet. Hurrying over eagerly to join them, he shot Marshall a friendly grin.

"Hey, pal! How're you holding up? And, uh..." he turned to smile at the girl, blushing as he noticed she wasn't at all unnatractive. He extended his hand in greeting, then realized he was still holding a carrot and stuck it between his teeth before holding out the hand again. "Ni'e tuh 'eet chu!"

*Gallen stood their being ignored by this new guy and Marshall. What did he do? He sipped his beer again and watched the DJ muttering*

"oh you have no idea how to run a party."

*Gallen looked at this new guy and smirked seeing the carrot in hand and how this guy was having trouble talking with the young lady.*

Aislinn limped into the room, herself and her cane moving at amazing speed when one considered she hadn't actually gotten the surgery she had been told she was heading out this way for. Probably, there wasn't a surgery anyway-- at this point she was convinced the whole thing had just been another hoax like the ones used to coax the rest of these poor people onto the island.

But that didn't mean they couldn't have fun while they were here! Sure, there were painful transformations into semi-animal-things to deal with, but fun was good no matter what was going on!

She went to the bar, ordered a bit of a drink, and settled herself on a stool. It'd be a few minutes before she'd be tipsy enough to brave attempting to dance despite her 'crippling injury' as her mother had called it.
