Gaius awoke to a beam of sunlight falling across his face. He grunted and winced, pulling himself up. Everything around him seemed strange. This wasn't his room, there weren't any car posters on the walls... and he was sleeping on a couch... Suddenly, everything from the previous night came rushing back and he sat bolt upright and spun around to look for Sophie. Her bed was empty, but the sheets had obviously been used. It was late morning judging by the light, maybe she'd already gotten up and washed? Standing up and groaning, Gaius couldn't help but wonder how he'd managed to sleep in a girl's room - especially Sophie's! - and not be stumbling all over himself. Of course, the circumstances hadn't exactly allowed him to be his usual self-conscious self.
"Hey Sophie! Are you around?"

The room was quiet, but after the moment of peace the bathroom door swung open, Sophie walking into the room backwards to better accomodate to her feet. It was almost like walking with flippers, in her opinion, but she knew she'd never resort to such measures in front of other people. A pair of scissors in one hand and a bundle of clothes in the other, it was clear by the comfortable way her tail hung from the day's choice of pants that she'd been hemming her clothes.
Slowly she turned, suddenly eye-to eye with Gaius, and she jumped backwards in surprise, landing with a painful thud on her rear and newly-grown tail, inducing a rather hurt moan escaping her lips. "I...I didn't know you were up," she admitted sheepishly, helping herself up and putting her recently hemmed clothes on the bed as she sat down, wincing for a moment.
Even though she'd changed clothes from her pajamas, she wasn't wearing her usual t-shirt and jacket: a tank top still seemed to be the choice of the moment, featuring the soft fuzz on her arms. "So...have you been awake long?"

Gaius likewise jumped at her surprise, stumbling back a step before catching himself on the desk. He averted his eyes and blushed, though there hadn't been anything innapropriate to see. "I-er, sorry! I just got up. Er, you look to be doing okay!"
Turning to glance at her sheepishly, he waved a hand at the pants. "That's a good idea. I should probably do that to my pants..."
Realizing he was still in only his PJ bottoms, Gaius blushed brighter. "Er, maybe I should go get dressed and head to the cafeteria... Want me to grab anything for you?" As he asked, he went for the door, hand gripping the knob and pulling it open a bit as he still faced her.

In this morning hour, the Duplex areas were mostly silent. Except for some weird chanting from Kaveri's duplex, but one grows use to such things after a while. Marshall, wearing his usual attire, carried a plastic DVD box in his hand, whistling a rather annoying if not catchy tune he heard some time long ago.
He stopped however, seeing some one come out of the Duplex he was going to. He instantly recognised the man, even if his nose was diffrent and his shoulders were...furry, almost.
"...Gaius?" he said alloud.

"Nothing to be sorry for, Gaius, I'm just getting used to my feet, that's all."
She tilted her head at the idea of him leaving, and realized the emotion he'd felt a few days ago when he'd not wanted to leave his duplex. "I think I'll be good for a little bit, unless there's some plain lettuce in the cafeteria. Not exactly into eating anything exquisite at the moment, y'know." In truth, she didn't want to leave her duplex at all if she could avoid it, and having Gaius get her some food was probably a good thing. She almost wanted to keep her transformation a secret to the rest of the Island, just between her and Gaius, and at least for the day, she wanted some simply Sophie-time.
"If anyone asks for me, just tell them I'm sick, okay?" She smiled, hoping he would understand.
She then heard Marshall's voice, and nearly cried out, shuffling behind her bed in some lame attempt to hide herself. She didn't think of how Gaius would have to explain himself, but at the moment was only concerned with not being caught in a furry state.

"M-Marshall?" Gaius yelped, looking around wildly to see the guy standing a ways outside. His first thought was to hide, not because of his changes, but having been found coming out of Sophie's appartment in his PJ's. He blushed bright and half-ducked behind the door, tail twitching nervously behind him.
"Er, uh, er, I can explain! It's not what it looks like!"

"You...Had your first changes, right?" he asked, "You don't have to be embarassed by that...I mean, I thought I'd be the one to go first, since I've been here for so long, but y'know..." he looked down at the ground, "...I'm sorry Gaius."
Why Marshall was so inexplicably depressed about this, he wasn't sure.
...So...Do I lose my big brother now?
He was like this for a whoping two minutes, until he looked up at the door and was imdiatly perplexed.
"...Why are you at Sophie's any way?"

Sophie did not like this. Not in the slightest. No offense to the comic artist, but she simply hadn't come to terms with the fact that she had a foot-long tail, and didn't want anyone else processing the information until she'd fully taken it in.
And, of course, she gave herself the appropriate facepalm, listening to the conversation from her 'strategic' hiding place. Why, why did Marshall have to think too much into things?
She only hoped Gaius wouldn't mention her change, not just yet.

"Huh? Ah, er, it's okay... It happened a couple days ago and I havent been out much, I'm sorry I didn't tell you..." Gaius looked away, scratching the hair on the back of his neck nervously. "It, uh, just surprised me... guess your dog theory was a bit off, hey?" He forced a small smile and shrugged.
Glancing back, he saw Sophie hiding back behind the bed, looking quite anxious. He winced, imagining Sophie probably wasn't wanting any company. Turning back to Marshall, he shrugged. "Uh, I was planning to leave earlier but I guess I was worn out... er, that sounded bad... uh, I just slept on the couch! That's all!"
