Gaius, Marshall, and Gallen at stage 50%
It was a Hot day as Gallen lounged outside on one the tables. He was still reading the book he had with him since he was brought to eth island DUNE, it was a slow read but interesting. Her laid their shirtless and barefoot, shirtless cause of the heat which bothered his growing fur, and barefoot due to how much his feet had changed preventing him form wearing his chucks anymore. He did not mind the changes at this point and was starting to like the idea of being a jungle cat, he rubbed his padded foot against his left itching ankle. Soon he sighed as I read, his cat like ear twitching at each new sound he heard. His small tail swooshed as he turned another page. He liked the book but wished someone would come along he could talk and maybe have some fun with.

The last change had been the worse by far. Not only had he begun to lose his fingers and toes to the expanding hooves, but his face had pushed out in the start of a muzzle - much to his horror - and he had wings! Tiny fuzzy little wings protruding from his shoulder blades, the kind you'd see on fledglings. What was he supposed to do with wings?! All they did was make sleeping on his back unbarably uncomfortable! Even the black hair covering much of his body was better than the silly limbs on his back!
Fed up with moping about his duplex, Gaius ventured outside, thinking to wash away his worries in the river, or maybe the beach. He was half-way across the village when he caught sight of someone he knew. He stopped short, wondering if he should take an alternate route and avoid the encounter... But he knew he couldn't hide forever, so he slowly approached the lounging figure and raised a hoof-hand in greeting.
"Uh, hey Gallen. Enjoying a book?"

Gallen's ears perked as he heard the familiar voice, it must have been a week or so since he last heard the voice. He looked up from his book and smiled as he saw it was Gaius, yet he looked kind of odd. Gallen sat up and waved a paw like hand to the tall man.
"yhea, Frank Herbert's DUNE, ever read it?" he smiled as he held his place in the book with a claw.

"Dune? Nah..." Gaius shook his head. "I never really got into that. Enjoyed some of the medieval knights stuff, though." Gaius ran a hand through his hair, wondering whether he should join the guy or continue what he was doing. "You, uh, busy? I was planning to head over to the river..."

Gallen’s ears perked up, "River! love to, it is so boring here, I mean love this book, but well I could use a dip." he grinned as he leapt off the table, "Give me a second for me to put this back in my room and I'll be with yha Gaius!" he ran into his duplex and tossed the book on the bed, he opted to just go in his shorts to the river, as he ran out the door and to Gaius.

Gaius chuckled. Well, the changes didn't seem to have dampened Gallen's enthusiasm. If only Gaius could feel that chipper. He scratched at his nose, wondering how long before his face would become even more unrecognizeable.
Gallen returned and Gaius stopped fidgeting, forcing a smile. "Alright, to the river then?"

Gallen suddenly noticed the changes on Gaius but tired not to stair, he looked over the boy though trying to see what had changed, "aye sounds good." His short tail swooshed happily.

Gaius and Gallen walked along the small path through the trees. It was normally warm on the island, but the shade provided a bit of relief, which Gaius especially appreciated with his black heat-absorbing hair. He could only imagine how it was for his friends with thicker fur! The bubbling of water ahead signalled their nearing the river, and Gaius happily trotted forward to set his towel on one of the rocks before stepping into the water. He stood there, ankle-deep, enjoying the feel of it rushing over his feet, though he wished he still had the ability to wiggle his toes in the dirt.
"Hey Gallen, come on and join in! The water's nice!"

Gallen grinned as he ran up and set down his towel. He watched as the crystal blue water flowed by and for a second forgot that He, Gaius and the whole island where changing into animals. His tail swooshed as he stepped into eth water, It rushing over his paw like feet and dampening his fur. "This i' nice Gaius." he laughed as he splashed the still taller horse man next to him.
"Is Marshall and Sophie goin ta join us?"

At the mention of Sophie, Gaius's mind snapped from its drifting, accompanied by a physical twitch of his head.
"Er, I dunno... they might be off around other parts of the island or something. Sophie didn't take her last change very well..." He shrugged, not really sure of anything.
He took another couple steps, easing himself down into the water until it was up to his waist, the coldness making him suck in his breath. Then, he took a deep breath and plunged his head forward into the water, jerking back up and shaking it back and forth so that his wet limp hair slapped back and forth, his ears twitching to shed them of the remaining water. It was refreshing as well as invigorating.
Gaius looked up at where Gallen was still standing and tilted his head. "So, uh... how have things been for you? I mean, despite this being a small island, somehow it's easy to lose track of people. Are you making friends and stuff?"

Gallen nodded as he wadded in a little, the water felt good on his light fur. "Eh so-so, Been watching over that youngen Cody, ee is like a li'l brother. Also been talking with this Duke fellow, very anti-social but ah think ah can open ‘em up." He grinned. "Ah am sorry to ear about Sophie, ah know how it feels ah mean ah am not to fond of these changes either. How you been taking ‘em?" He soon was up to his chest when he got near Gaius....darn tall people. But Damn the doctors they could start tuning him into a feline, make him crave meta, maybe even make him go Bi, but could they make him taller…..NooOOOoooo.

Gaius, unaware to any jealousy or other feelings that might be coming from Gallen due to physical differences, let himself sink down into the water up to his neck.
"How'm I taking the changes? I dunno, I guess okay... I mean, I'm not happy, but I can't really fight against the lab like some of the others. Still, I..." He gulped quickly. "I'm scared of losing my fingers..."
Sighing, Gaius rolled over to float on his back in the water, watching Gallen out of the corner of his vision. "What about you, taking the changes okay? Ever think about what you left behind?"

"Everyday, ah miss my job and the city. I look at what is happening and remember my childhood, how ah never thought this be my adult life." he looked to the floating Gaius, "yer fingers, how so. You think yer’er goin all the way, becomin a full horse? That is what ye are becoming right?" He looked away afraid he was prying too deep. His tail splashed the water as he wadded in deeper, his pawl like feet feeling the earth under them and between his toes. "Ah hate this, I don't want to be a freak, ah want to jus find my sister and get her out o e’re." He vented his hand clenched, he was holding back tears. Then he smiled, "Ah try ta find the bright side, though. So do ye think o the past, what did ye leave behind?”

Gaius nodded, knowing what Gallen meant about never expecting something like this to happen. No one ever expects to die in an accident, let alone be kidnapped!
When Gallen asked about his fingers, Gaius held up one of his hands from the water. Though the back of it was largely covered in black horse hair, it was clearly visible that Gaius's pinky and ring finger had partially fused together, mostly encased by the hard black substance that had once been his nails. Gaius sighed, letting the hand slip back into the water. "If that's any indication... I'm scared. My hands are my life. You know how I love building stuff... If I can't even hold a hammer or a pen..." He shook his head, sending ripples through the water.
"As for my past... I'm the same as a lot of others, I imagine. A family, friends, work... They don't know where I am, probably still thinking I'm away at some job, unless the labs have told them otherwise..."
He looked up suddenly from the water. "Wait, what? Your sister is here?! On the island?"
