Quick minded: Thinking on his feet is something he's learned and perfected since he was a tiny little Matori. It's not only thinking of solutions for problems quickly; he picks up things after watching them being done a couple of times. Sure it's clumsy at first, but he can usually get it down in no time.

Hard working: He is hard working and dedicated to tasks he's sent off on. Leaving things half finished or half-assing something isn't the way he does things and it bothers him when others do it. Once he's on a task, he has to finish it. He's compelled to.

Loyal: Onas is one of the most loyal Matori you can have on your side. Hands down he does anything for his friends. He will give them his food, the shirt off his back, stand by them in a fight, fight for them if that's what they need. If he needs to be somewhere in the middle of the night in a snow storm, he will drag his a** out into that snow storm.

Flaws:
Blunt: He's... blunt. Blunt and honest and doesn't really have much of a filter. He might be good at picking up tasks and jobs, but when it comes to picking up on social cues he's... not good at it. His blunt honest nature means he can insult someone's clothing, way they think, or act, without even actually realizing it until he's been slapped in the face.

Single minded: Because he is so hard working, he's also very single minded. The task comes first. Over his well being, over sleeping or eating. The only thing that doesn't come before his job at the time is if his friends are in an emergency. He tends to over work himself between friends and odd jobs.

Loyal: He can be a little too loyal. By this I mean that he could potentially make friends with a person who is not a good person and do everything in his power to protect them. He will burn bridges with others before he realizes things might be off. He likes to think his friends are all good people, that they wouldn't do anything bad in their lives. However, if he's already accepted a job and one of his friends tries to talk him out of working to go do something stupid, he won't do it. He'll explain the situation to his friend as best as he can. Additionally, if a friend has an emergency while he's doing a job, he will talk to the boss about it and go back after his friend's emergency is taken care of and work tirelessly to do it. It'll nag him and bug him that he's left it partially finished, feel irritated and annoyed until he's back on the right task. When he does get back to the task it's full steam ahead.

This does lead to a lot of conflict sometimes when he has to pick between his mother and his friends. He wants to stay with his mother, follow her, do what she wants him to do, but if he has to do something else his mother won't approve of...

He will have to make tough choices when it comes to this. This is on a case by case basis and no matter what he's going to feel a bit of guilt and will be uneasy. He's trying his best to balance this out, but only time will tell what happens with it.

History: From a young age Onas has been a focused firecracker of working. He likes keeping himself busy. He made little things made of seaweed and shells for various members of his own small tribe. His mother did these things for a job; crafting fish bones into hair clips, working them into various jewelry. So he watched her do it and picked up on it.

For his mother it was a good way to keep him out of trouble and out of her hair. She also got a bit of extra work done for free because she would have him do things for the orders she had in.

Coming from a family with a single mother was hard for both of them. Things didn't work out between his mother and father. After Onas was born the strain of their already strained relationship was pushed to the limits and he couldn't take their constant arguments anymore. So he just left them both. Neither have heard from him since. Onas doesn't even remember his father.

At one point Onas went rebellious. By this I mean he stayed out past curfew, maybe came home drunk, a little rowdy to where he broke a few things in his house, sometimes he would purposely dirty up his neighbor's yards and houses. His mother tried everything in her power to reign him in, to teach him that he was doing wrong, hanging out with hooligans because he was never alone when he did these things. But his fiercely loyal nature wouldn't hear of it. He argued with her and got in her face one too many times. Onas never laid a hand on his mother, but he had a neighbor with a man who was really close to his mother... and he felt Onas got too riled up and too close to his mother.

So it led to a fight in which Onas lost. He was beat up pretty badly but nothing he couldn't recover from. No broken bones.

Since that day he's tried to make it up to his mother and the neighborhood by doing what he can. He helps build new houses, helps clean up, or whatever they ask of him.

He was never a slave, but he has a few ex-slaves in the village he lives in. He grew up listening to the stories and thinks that slavery is wrong. Someone shouldn't force someone to do 'slave work'. He will fight against any slavers that try to take any Matori if he can help it, or any one of any other tribe for that matter.
