Mano was walking down the beach a slow, easy pace, a basket tucked under one arm and his trident in the other. He wasn't really looking for trouble, in fact what he was looking for were various creatures that he'd be able to find if he could locate some tide pools. He knew that there were some in the area and if he found the he would be able to scoop out all manner of delicious things that he could bring back to Kyrian! He wanted to find some clams, some shellfish like crabs and lobsters, maybe some urchin, and then whatever fish were foolish enough to get trapped in the tide pools. Once found the things were a treasure trove of delicious food but waiting to be scooped up!

Giving a happy sound as he spotted one Mano hurried his steps a bit, wanting to be the first to get to it. If he was then he would get first dibs on whatever creatures had been trapped within it! It was something that caused him almost to run toward the pool, looking within it, before he gave a pleased sound, "Ohhhh, yes!" There was lots to be had in this one making this expedition a lucky one already! Now, all he had to do was catch what was in the tide pool without getting poked, pinched, or bitten... he'd save that sort of thing for later!

Onas looked down at his newly calloused hands and curled his fingers into a light fist before relaxing them again. He tried a trident and, honestly, it felt pretty natural in his hands. It was heavy, but he didn't have muscles built up from carrying a weapon around or using one. The dark-haired Matori sat upon a rock that the waves crashed around. He wasn't on the beach itself, he was in the water, but close enough he could see anyone coming... if he actually paid attention.

One of his legs came up and Onas moved so his chin could be propped upon his knee with his arms around that one leg. The other was in the water, feeling his leg get pulled and pushed with the waves and tide. It wasn't a bad feeling.

All of a sudden splashing that wasn't waves caught his attention, and then he looked around at the words and spotted another Matori male in the tide pools. His head tilted to the side as he watched him. What was he doing? He squinted and then rolled his eyes a little.

"Just use that trident if you're too scared," he called out, getting off his rock and starting to walk to the other.

There was a fraction of a second where Mano thought that the voice that called out to him was the various creatures in the tide pool mocking him. He starred down at them, his eyes going wide, before his brain really kicked into gear telling him it couldn't possibly be that. Dinner didn't talk... as such it had to be something, no someone else. Glancing around he scanned the area around himself before he finally spotted the one that was seemingly lounging in the water before giving a little whistle, "Wow, seems as though Ubeli'ae herself has deemed me worthy enough to grace me with the presence of a rather gorgeous water nymph today. A blessed man I truly am." He said before giving the one before him a little wink.

He wasn't sure who his fellow Matorian was but he had to admit that he was a rather good looking sort, wasn't he? That deep blue hair was especially eye catching making him really appear as though he were a water spirit that served the Ocean Goddess. Giving a smile he turned back to the pool and said, "No point in spearing things without really studying them. I don't want to risk ruining their meat after all." He'd figure out what exactly he wanted out of the pool, fish it up carefully, and toss it into a basket... though before he did that maybe a nice chat and a bit of flirting with the blunette that was coming his way first?

The flowery words meant for women made him roll his eyes a bit, but he still approached. Onas put his hands on his hips as he stayed in the water, waves breaking over his feet like some sort of magical slippers. Constantly covered in clear water. Then again, most Matorians enjoyed the ocean, didn't they? He licked his own lips a bit and then watched as the other watched the tide pool one more time.

"Maybe." He shrugged a little more and decided to sit down where he was. He was already wet, so why not. He sat cross legged, letting the waves break around his hips and up to his lower back. He didn't want to get too close to the other. For one, he was fishing and honestly, he shouldn't have even said anything, and two.. Well, Onas didn't do so well with people. Some of them thought he was too cold and once he got called emotionless. So he stayed his distance in case things went sour and he had to split.

"Sorry to disturb you."

Mano turned to look over at the other man as he came closer, settling down in the water closer to where he was standing. He found himself watching him closely, rather enjoying the sight of the handsome young man sitting in the water. He really was a looker, wasn't he? The sort that Mano could quite appreciate... though maybe a little too young for him to do much more then flirt with if he had to guess. A shame that, but it would keep him from getting too distracted from the job at hand.

As the other was suddenly apologizing, saying that he was 'sorry to disturb him' he couldn't help but to laugh, "As though someone as cutie as you could disturb me. You needn't apologize for coming closer, it's actually most appreciated since it allows me to see you closer up, pretty nymph."

This flirting wasn't something Onas dealt with... ever, as far as he could remember. No one really bothered him and now he had another male trying to seduce him. It's what it felt like. It was odd, but not a complete turn off. Perhaps a waste of time, but so far Mano seemed harmless. Still, Onas would be careful.

"...Anyway. What are you doing out here besides not fishing?"

Ah, he had such a way with words. Onas knew how to alienate almost everyone. It was quite a skill. He just hoped he could learn to curb his sarcasm one day.

"I didn't.. mean that negatively."

Mano seemed to think on the question before he said, "Well, the plan had been for me to to raiding some tide pools so that I could make dinner with whatever was trapped in them. Now though all I want to do is chat with you, Nymph." He found him to be rather cute, even with the awkwardness that he was showing all of a sudden. No... maybe it was despite that but because of that, it just added a layer of cute to an already attractive water nymph he thought to himself, his fin ears bouncing in delight for a moment.

"You needn't worry, I am not insulted in the least. As it stands I've yet to catch anything after all, nor have I even tried... you're that much of a lovely distraction that I can't even successfully catch anything." It made him currently the worst fisherman around but he didn't even care, all he cared about was giving the one that was there before him attention.

Onas was sure of himself, but to a fault. He didn't want to chase everyone off. Thus the awkwardness when he thought he actually he might have upset someone. The younger Matori leaned forward, put an elbow on his knee and rested his head in his hand when he heard Mano was gong to 'chat' with him. Chat him up. A come on, wasn't it?

"...You know, a fisherman isn't supposed to get distracted," his head canted to the side, chin rolling on his palm, braids coming forward over his shoulder. "But... I suppose you're more of a people person than a fisherman."

Yellow-gold eyes glanced around at the tide pools closer to Mano and he hummed. He could catch things rather quickly with his hands, some buried clams, small fish, star fish. "My name is Onas."

Mano couldn't help but to laugh, "Oh yeah, I know that. It was one of the many lessons that I was taught when I was younger and thought that I would be a dedicated fisherman. That I needed to pay close attention, watch the fish, and make sure to line up my shots just so!" He knew that was what he was supposed to do but it was what he rarely did since when there were others around. The only one he could actually fish around was Kyrian if only because he was so used to him being there... but even he could get sidetracked too.

Glancing at the tide pool and then back again he said, "Oh yeah, I tend to be far more interested in the people that I meet so I find my mind and hands can wandering without me." He made lifted his hands, wiggling his fingers playfully at Onas before the other was suddenly introducing himself.

"Onas? Well, it's nice meet you then, Onas, my pretty nymph. On'os has truly blessed me in allowing me to find you ad the tide pool along with everything else that is in the area. Though given you did come forth from the ocean it might have been Ubeli'ae. What do you think?"

At least he didn't take the words as criticism like most did. Onas took a slow breath as the other talked more.

"I think you're spending a lot of time on pretty words." Not that he didn't ....well he didn't hate the attention. What did one do with it though when they weren't sure if they were interested in anyone in a flirting sense? Onas pushed a hand through his hair, moving his braids a around as he tried to figure out something else to say.

"But.. I don't... Both? I mean." Awkward. He cleared his throat slowly and rubbed the back of his neck. "As for fishing, I figured we'd be taught the same. I just..." Wasn't a people person and tended to lose himself in the fishing. It was relaxing, being alone with his thoughts and nature. Onas didn't want to say he took it more seriously, but maybe just took to it easier? "I guess I took to fishing more naturally?"

Mano gave a smile and said in a happy tone of voice, "Pretty words for pretty people, Nymph." That was the way that he saw it at least. He didn't feel as though the time spent on flirting was ever wasted, even if there were people that just didn't bite. So long as they were both having fun then Mano was happy.

"Fishing is a great way to spend time. Any skill that is both entertaining and allows you to provide for those you care about is quite wonderful indeed." Turning his attention to the tide pool once more, "Alright! Time to get some of this stuff captured so that it can become lunch! I don't know about you but I could go for half of what is in here at the moment. The urchins are especially good if cooked right."

Glancing over at Onas he asked, "Are you wanting in on some of the spoils of the tide pool or are you more interested in getting some bigger fish out of the ocean itself?" He had to admit he was curious which sort of fishing the pretty nymph might be more interested in.

Onas scratched at his throat and shrugged. Yeah he would definitely have to get used to the pretty words. He tossed his hair to one side as Mano started talking about how good finishing was.

Then both of their attentions were turned to the pool and he examined it closely from a crouched position. He poked his finger inside, poking at a hermit crab he saw and then shrugged lightly. "I'm not sure. I'm not entirely hungry. Possibly just... a small fish from the tide pools or two would be better." He didn't want Mano fishing up a huge fish from the ocean or something. At least not for just Onas.

"...Sometimes I like to get a boat and sit out in the calm of the ocean and see what I can get. Sometimes I catch big fish, other times they weren't fish at all. One time it was a baby shark. That..." He paused. "That was intimidating, honestly."

"Hmm, not too hungry, eh?" So he only wanted for a small snack then, huh? He turned to look into the water, scanning over each of the various fish that were swimming around in the pool in a thoughtful manner. He gave a smile as he pointed, "Those ones there with the reddish scales are really good. Have you ever tried one of those before?"

At the mention of taking out a boat and fishing out of it he said, "A boat would be rather nice. I really need to see about getting one of those someday. At the moment I tend to just wade into the water before and just dive in... but a boat would be rather convenient. Especially given the little snaptrotters thieves out there." He mused before he perked up at the mention of sharks, "Ohhh... those are great! Well... not dealing with them in an under water scuffle but as a source of food. They can be quite tasty. Ever try them before?" Mano was the sort that was fine with trying to eat anything he caught and couldn't say that he'd met any tasty thing out of the ocean he didn't love.

He tilted his head as he examined the fish pointed out to him. His face was softer, taking in the information that was given to him. Scooting a little loser, Onas tried to dip his finger into the pool and tried to pet the fish. Of course this didn't happen, but he wanted to try anyway. But he shook his head at the question of if he actually had the fish. No, he hadn't tried this particular fish.

"I forget about snaptrotters."

Honestly Onas didn't run into them often. He pushed his hair off his neck for a while, abandoning the water to do so. His braids had more beads in them lately so the movement caused them to clank around.

"And no, I've never eaten baby shark. We usually just get whatever. We eat with a few families, kind of a combined effort thing? I don't know. I just know there's way too many children running around me first thing in the morning."

"You're a very lucky nymph I feel. The cove where I am camping has a few little whelps that show up whenever I'm fishing to try to steal my fish. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes I do, it's a bit of a back and forth." One that Mano would far prefer if it were a handsome man or a beautiful woman in the place of the snaptrotters. At least then even if he lost it would have been to a beauty of some renounce. Instead he found himself occasional losing to scaly beasts which wasn't nearly as fun in his mind.

Giving a smile he said, "That sounds like a rather nice way to go about things. It must be a lot of fun for you... minus the part where you're tripping over younglings." A nice group made of of a few families that combined their efforts. It was a bit like the family group that Kyrian had been a part of back in Sauti when they first met he thought to himself. Nothing that he was used to himself but definitely something that he like the idea of.
