Medals

Medals are unique awards granted to Negaverse officers to acknowledge those who have proven themselves to be valuable. While some medals are capable of being earned by all members of the Negaverse (Including PC Youma and Corrupted Mauvians), the majority of these are designed for Negaverse Agents, Corrupted and Ascended Senshi, and Half-Youma Agents. Characters of any rank can earn medals.

Medals are not only a badge of honor; the more Medals a character earns, the more likely they are to be considered for special missions. Members of the Negaverse who have gone above and beyond to prove themselves are often trusted with more responsibilities. This may include exclusive plot opportunities or information, including special meta roles if available.

Players may choose to display earned medals in their character’s journal, however to do so they must create a post in this thread to claim. More information about claiming medals can be found below. Characters may also have up to five unique medals appear on their character’s artwork. Medals cannot be worn or acquired unless they have been ICly earned.

There are three different types of Medals: Milestone Medals, Event Medals, and Special Medals.

      Milestone Medals

Milestone Medals can be earned by reaching certain milestones in the Negaverse. These often require a character complete a specific task or experience something within the Negaverse, and can be earned at any point in time during the character’s development.

      Event Medals

Event Medals can only be earned for participation in a specific event. Extra medals may be given out during an Event to commemorate level of participation or MVP status. Event Medals are not typically advertised as being winnable prior to the conclusion of the Event. Players should not participate in Events expecting to win a Medal. Players who are running events may be able to request a specific Medal be made to commemorate the event, however these will only be approved pending shop availability to create medals. Players may commission a medal to be use, if approved by staff.

      Special Medals

Special Medals are unique and do not fall under either of the above categories. These Medals are difficult to come by and may be given out in special instances. The player base can also nominate a character for a special medal, however all nominations must be sent to the shop mule, The Space Cauldron. While you may not request a specific medal, if you feel a character has done something that warrants acknowledgement or reward, please share this with the RP Staff! All nominations will be considered, but players must send in a link to the character’s journal, links to relevant roleplays, and a solid argument for why this character deserves special acknowledgement.

Earning a Medal

It should be assumed that only Negaverse characters that are guaranteed three ranks (Corrupted or Ascended Senshi, Negaverse Agents, and Half-Youma) are eligible to earn a medal. Some Medals can also be earned by Full Youma and Corrupted Mauvians, but these characters are not typically given the same responsibilities as ranked characters and do not have the same opportunities to prove themselves to Metallia.

To receive a medal ICly, there are a few different options:

Milestone Medals may either be handwaved or roleplayed out. A General can request Medals to give to their Captains or Lieutenants, or even fellow Generals. NPC General Kings and Queens can give these out in special circumstances. To roleplay with an NPC, a player needs to PM The Space Cauldron with information about their character, the circumstances, and the medal(s) they would like to receive.

Event Medals will be released in a public announcement and rewarded at the time of the event's close. Characters who participated in the Event will either automatically acquired the Medal, and characters who may have played a special role will be notified if they have earned an additional Medal.

Special Medals will almost always be given out by a General King or Queen, either in a one on one roleplay or a ceremony. Typically, the player receiving the Special Medal will have the ability to influence how their character receives their Medal, and details can be discussed to determine when an agent has been chosen to receive a medal. In some instances where a Special Medal is to be given out to a few characters, this will happen in a group RP or a public ORP.

Displaying an Earned Medal

Once a player has earned and claimed their medal, you may request that they appear on a character’s next piece of art. Up to five medals can be displayed on a single piece of artwork. Characters do not have to wear their Medals on their uniforms but are invited to do so; Medals do not need to be worn on the chest but can instead be displayed creatively on other parts of the uniform. Characters should not have medals that they have not ICly earned, and should not have designs that display nonstandard medals. Some older Negaverse characters were grandfathered in with medal designs; should they grow, they will need to meet current art guidelines.

Players can also display their Medals in the character’s journals after posting the following form to claim them. Please save the image to your own hosting site!

Claiming a Medal

Players should only make one post per character in this thread. When they acquire a new Medal, they should edit their post to include this Medal rather than make new posts to claim multiple Medals. If you make a mistake, please contact The Space Cauldron!

All Players should use the following form when setting up their post for Medals:

(Character Name, Rank, and a link to their journal)
Total number of Medals: (Please include the sum of all ICly claimed and earned medals)
Last Updated Date: (Please include the date you last updated your Medal claims)

Below that post, you will need to include the following form for every Medal they are claiming:

(Title of Medal) (Please list the title of the Medal you are claiming)
RP Claim (Please link to the necessary RP(s) where the character fulfills the requirements, or an RP that references the event happening. If you have won an Event Medal or a Special Medal, please just link to the thread or post where your character was awarded the Medal)

Available Medals: Milestone Medals

Milestone Medals can be earned by reaching certain milestones in the Negaverse. These often require a character complete a specific task or experience something within the Negaverse, and can be earned at any point in time during the character’s development. Announcements will be added as more Milestone Medals are made available.

Rank

This medal is stackable and the base is used when upgrading to the next medal. When a character increases in rank, another star is added. Because the base medal is added to when they upgrade, this only counts for one medal no matter what rank they are. Any character that can grow in ranks can earn these Medals.

Length of Service

This medal is stackable and the base is used when upgrading to the next medal. When a character celebrates their first anniversary, another stripe is added. Because the base medal is added to when they reach another milestone, this only counts for one medal no matter how long they have been in the Negaverse. Full Youma characters cannot earn these Medals, but any other member of the Negaverse can.

Accomplishments

These medals can be earned based on characters having certain experiences or meeting certain accomplishments during the tenure with the Negaverse. Each individual Medal has specific rules for acquiring it and may not be available to all characters.

Medal of Small Sacrifice:

Awarded when a character completes their first energy gathering. Only characters who can gather energy can earn this Medal.

Medal of Recruitment:

Awarded when a character assists in their first corruption; a character may complete the corruption themself if they are able or may assist a higher ranked character, either by locating and nominating the recruit or by serving as a conduit for corruption. Mauvians can earn this Medal when they locate an eligible Senshi or assist in naming them during their Corruption and Awakening.

Commander of the Rift Medal:

Awarded when a character obtains their Personal Youma. This Medal can only be earned by Negaverse Agents who have reached at least Captain stage; Corrupted Senshi cannot obtain a Personal Youma. This can be a PC Youma or an NPC youma, but it must be logged in the Personal Youma thread.

Medal of Knowledge:

Awarded when a character contributes to the Negaverse Database for the first time.

Medal of Respected Authority:

Awarded when a character plans, operates, and leads a Negaverse operation. This can be either small scale or large scale and should have plot approval through the shop mule, The Space Cauldron. It can be a fairly simple operation but should have a single character, or a very small group of leaderly characters, organizing some mission or team and leading the team to completion. The mission should be successful; if players are having difficulties coming up with an idea, they can PM the mule for assistance. This medal is almost exclusively reserved for ranked characters, and character should be at least second stage, but should most likely be third stage to earn this.

Medal of Authoritative Respect:

Awarded when a character delivers appropriate punishment to an insubordinate officer. Characters should be at least second stage, and in nearly all instances should be ranked characters. This would be very difficult for a Mauvian or Youma to complete, as they do not have authority to punish any lower ranked officers. Punishments can be approved through The Space Cauldron, and players can ask for guidance for appropriate punishments for infractions.

Prisoner of War Medal:

Awarded when a character is rescued from enemy combatants.

Exemplary Teamwork:

Awarded when a character completes five successful team missions. A team mission may be any gathering of four or more members of the Negaverse where they come together to achieve some goal; this might be an attack ambush, it might be a reconnaissance or recovery mission, it may be an assigned sparring regiment; the character simply needs to prove that they can work with their team in any variety of situations.

Medal of Worthy Tribute

Any member of the Negaverse who contributes in a mission to capture an enemy can claim this medal. Order characters cannot be brought into Negaspace without plot approval, but can still be awarded this medal if they have proof of capture from holding an enemy anywhere else. Something must be gained through their capture, be it information or another advantage; their target may escape or survive depending on the plot. Disposable NPCs cannot be used to earn this medal unless there is an approved plot to do so. Plots utilizing an NPC will require at least two players working together; nothing can be handwaved and the NPC’s capture must make sense.

Medal of Innovation:

Awarded when a character utilizes an energy draining object in a mission for the first time.

Available Medals: Event Medals

Event Medals can only be earned for participation in a specific event. Extra medals may be given out during an Event to commemorate level of participation or MVP status. Players can only claim an Event Medal if they meet the requirements to do so; requirements for earning will be included in the announcement where the Event Medal is released.

Medals can only be counted once per event. For example, you cannot claim a "First Place" medal for a tournament and also a "Participation" medal.

Champion Collector

Awarded to a character who gathers the most energy during a shop hosted, designated Negaverse Draining Event. This Medal can only be won once per character, but can be given out multiple times, across multiple events.

FAQ

  • Can a player request a Medal be made to commemorate an event they are running?

A player can request that the shop create a Medal for them to give out during a large scale event they are running. It is not always possible for the shop to provide a Medal and it depends on artist availability. Players can commission art from outside the shop if they have permission to do so for an event. Player run events that might be able to rewards a Medal include Negaverse Tournaments (where the player can rerun the event as often as they like, with mule permission, and the same set of Medals are given out to the different winners) or, large scale ORPs that invite Negaverse characters to participate, rather than a small, pre-plotted group. Any questions or clarifications for this can be directed to The Space Cauldron, and players can ask if there is any availability to create a Medal while they are plotting for event approval with the mule!

  • If a Negaverse character purifies, what happens to the medals that they have earned?

The medals given out by the Negaverse are not necessarily of magical background but can be attached to the uniform to become a magical element that appears naturally when they power up. Medals can be attached or removed at will. If a Negaverse character purifies while wearing their Medals, they will disappear and will not appear on their new, purified uniform. If the Medals were not on the uniform when the character purified, they may be kept. For example, if the Medals were in subspace when the character purified, they could still be taken out and kept. However, Medals should not be worn on a purified uniform; these are symbolic of the Negaverse.

  • How can a player claim for a Medal if the associated requirement wasn’t specifically RP’d?

In instances like this, where something might have reasonably happened off screen or was handwaved (such as awakenings/corruptions/first energy gatherings/etc) a player may simply link to a roleplay that references this thing happening. There must be some IC evidence that the event occurred. Some Milestones might have been assumed to happen in the background and might not need to be specifically RP’d out, however other Milestones require a character to specifically complete a task. If you are unsure if you can claim a Medal, please contact The Space Cauldron to confirm! In all instances, though, you will need to link to a roleplay that at least mentions the incident happening, even if you cannot find the RP where it originally happened.

  • What are Pins? Are they like Medals?

Participation Pins are small rewards given out when successful missions are completed. They are trinkets of appreciation but do not count towards total Medal Count, as a player may receive multiple Pins from participating in different events. Participation Pins can be given by any Negaverse character who is at least third stage, and while they cannot presently be exchanged for anything it is worth holding onto them for the time being. They should be given when a character goes above and beyond, and while they do not have much purpose presently, in the future they will have minor IC gains beyond just recognition.
