Nickname: Ritz Race: Lightning Gender: Female Physical Description: Taller than average for a girl, average for a male. Androgynous frame; small, near nonexistent bust with small, narrow hips. Constantly covered in dirt or oil; maybe both.

Ritz is an easily agitated girl. She has the patience of a toddler, and prefers to get her work done as quickly possible instead of sitting around on her hands. Because of this she’s almost always working on something; whether it’s a hobby project, something for her lessons or something for her mother. Her pockets are almost always littered with mechanical debris, and more often than not, even while talking with others, she’ll have at least one hand in her pocket fiddling with something.
She has little patience for others, and finds most leisurely activities dull. The only way to get truly feminine, excited squealing from her would be to show the girl an antique, broken down engine that she can devote time to restoring.
That being said Ritz has a keen eye. She’s sharp and too the point, in an almost painfully blunt way. It makes socializing difficult, as she doesn’t understand when others walk away from her. In her world straight forward honesty is the best policy; even if she has to tell someone straight to their face that she would rather drown in oil than listen to one more moment of their nasally prattle. As straightforward as she is, she’s able to look past the frivolities of life and straight to the heart of the problem. Troubleshooting engine repairs comes easy to her, even if the solutions are not always so clear cut. And on the rare occasions she cannot find the problem she will spend hours, even days, in a pensive, crabby mood until it’s found.
Like her mother before her, Martiza does her best work during the odd hours of the night. She’s lived her life by her mother’s schedule so by now it’s only second nature to sleep through the sunniest times of day. Being up in the sunlight can leave her cranky and ill tempered, complaining about the bright lights on her eyes. Under the guidance of the moon and gas lamps, however, the young girl seems to flourish. When the world is asleep and less likely to intrude she does her best work, much to the chagrin of the teachers who would rather the child keep to a ‘normal’ schedule.

Maritza was raised with her elder brother, Rivyn, by their single mother in the city of Valmon. Her mother, a member of the sector of Transportation, spent most of their childhood engrossed in her work. Her focus was that of railway maintenance and meant working through the night, often leaving her young children during working hours. The children were never truly alone, however; neighbors and close friends of their mothers would often watch them while she was away, insuring the young ones safety and continued education.
Her mother encouraged the children to push the boundaries of known technology. To evolve further than anything they were being taught in their classes and to aim as high as the clouds themselves. Maritza took that to heart. In the wee hours of the morning, once her mother had returned, she would often keep the woman up for hours asking questions. She wanted to know everything about the railways, about what her mother did, and what her mom thought could make it all better.
As she grew Ritz became a proactive member in the search for stabilized air travel. Her mother had said to dream for the skies; so why not take that as literally as possible? Of course, when she had signed on as an assistant for the maintenance team Ritz never dreamed that they would offer to take her with them across the sea. As her superiors explained to her mother, the girl seemed to have an innate ability to problem solve and while she was still young yet, the mechanics could use the helping hand.
At first her mother was worried; after all, the first voyage hadn’t ended favorably, but Ritz’s determination to go moved her mother. This might even be her ticket into the academy! And if something bad happened, well, no one lives forever anyway, right?

Physical Description: Hair inspiration - 1, 2 & 3 (Basically, same general hairstyle)
Feel free to add onto / tweak her current outfit, but I'll be keeping the same style. She's got boots that come up to either her knees or mid thigh (artist's choice).
I'd also like for her to have a tattoo on her left ring finger sort of like this but with a little more decoration.
She's also got some burns on her arms/hands and various scarring on them as well from work. . Body Type: Tall, androgynous frame
