Zone 1 - Objective 4 Log
Words are a small price to pay for security these days.
I don't remember much about the first couple days. I'm not from around here, but when the chaos hit I ended up taking shelter in a KFC in a strip mall. It was the first place I found that wasn't either shut up tight or already swarming with crazy people or rabid, infected people. Apparently people just don't have any use for chicken when there are car fires and people chasing down and chewing on other people.
Even the next day it was one of the safer places to be. People were starting to get into their heads that this was a bad situation, and they needed canned goods, not cold fried chicken and frozen goods going bad in the dead freezers. The pharmacy across the street was the first place I saw looted. Maybe it was you guys. A small group of people broke the windows and took as many cans and boxes and vials of medicine as they could carry, and there was screaming in there. Someone must have been trying to hide out, maybe they got offed trying to keep the place and it's goods under their control.
I started poking around the area when it was quiet out. It wasn't just the infected that were dangerous, any time I saw two people crossing paths in those first few days it didn't end well for one of them. Then I overheard a couple of them talking about the apartment buildings, how some people were starting to clear it out, make it a safe place. Said they were stockpiling food, barricading the place up. Perhaps needing strong people to help with the work.
I took a chance and headed over there, ended up helping clear out the place. Most of the inhabitants are just kids, but somehow we've managed to survive. I've had to bang some heads together on occasion, but I suppose there are worse places to be.
That's about all there is. I got settled in, and since then it's been about finding supplies. There's not much else to tell. We survived, ended up here, the end. Or hopefully not.
