gaia_crown Siege Solo - 607 words

You can update your chapter journal with a quick solo as your knight gears up and prepares for battle. This would just be a quick solo of them preparing/grabbing items/weapons/ etc etc. As they prepare, for a moment they remember something important, fleeting, something extremely urgent - it is gone before they can recall it entirely but it leaves them feeling like they have forgotten something critically important.
Cain had just woken back up from nap he had taken after a quest when he heard the news. The castle was going to be attacked, those monsters were coming here. Of all places here, where Cain was sure was safe and yet now. The blonde teen stood for a moment in the hallway, a hesitance clear upon tanned, freckled features. Dazed for a moment and still rubbing sleep from his eyes as the hallow sickness of his safety being ripped away settled over him.
What now? What would he do...
Fight.
How could, no, how should he go about this? Because he had to help, there was no question about that. He was a knight-apprentice now, brought to a destiny he would live out. Now. ..where was the weaponry from here? How far to the stables, to another knight for aid. As he raced to gather his sword and armor Cain's brain was working up calculations on what to do next, how likely it would be to get him killed. Tanned fingers thumped at the sides of poorly made pants as he moved, a nervous habit, a thinking habit.
Entering the weaponry a medium armor was grabbed, pulled over head and gauntlets along with the rest strapped on. A second to scan what weapons hadn't been taken and Cain picked up a sword. A twirl of wrist and Cain parried with the blade before holstering it at his side and giving the hilt a pat. On a sharp inhale the knight-apprentice gave himself a moment to gather nerves and will. It would be alright the youth coached himself while exiting the armory, hands sliding down over each piece of protection tied to his body.
Cain started to head back towards the courtyard, then noticed a rush of people heading his direction and made a bee-line. This wasn't the right way. But this castle was so damn huge it would take forever to figure out- then a loud shout caught attention and Cain spun, blonde hair shagging out over his head before being pushed back as he squinted into the crowd of bodies. Spotting another knight pledged to the White Cain was on his coat-tails, step in step with him as he called, "Where are we needed most?!" The man turned and motioned calling out loudly, "secure the Castle ramparts!" Cain gave him a sharp look for face he made but turned on his heels and headed that way. Wasn't this expected though? Shouldn't they not do the expected - Someone ...someone once told him to avoid that - Cain paused.
A sharp pain assaulted the knight-apprentices head, shuddering down his spine as a sickness washed over him. Something, he shook his head what the hell it had been so important he knew it. But whatever it was now lost, there was nothing but a huge blank where thought once was. A few shouts caught his attention and Cain turned again, head snapping on alert. "s**t.." Feet raced with the quickening of his pulse, trying to carry him to where he needed to be and ending him up on the opposite end of the castle. Jumping up a rope ladder he scaled to the top for a better view. A frown tightly upon lips for the sight that awaited him. That sinking feeling of something critically missing hitting him as he jumped back down then landed with a thump.
There was no time to dwell on the thought though or rather missing thought and so Cain drew his weapon and headed towards the castles ramparts. Assistance there was where he was needed most and that's where he would be!
