He'd just made it to the ramparts and already things were going to s**t. Seeing his Knight pass by though, encouraging him to do his part, there was little he could do but join in. Securing the door against the hordes was important, and there was enough light from others, so he reached for whatever came to hand to toss on the defense.
It was a chair that came to hand, and that was stacked up to add a decent amount of coverage to the door as Soren started to look around, wondering what else was next. Protection was his code, and he'd serve where he could.

Xanther attempted to blindly navigate through the whole commotion. He could hear the odd noises clearly. He could feel the others going from one place to the other, securing the castle and being productive. I f he had a working torch, he might be able to help out as well. "Ok, I just need to light up something and-" Xanther started scavenge for some materials but sadly he couldn't find anything. With a sigh, he tried approaching to the nearest light source. "This is going to be harder than I thought..." He mumbled.

They were a little late, but then they hadn't been in the castle when the call to arms had gone up. They'd still been on the tail end of their journey, enjoying just a moment of relief in the cool water of a stream to wash away the dirt and the ache from everything that had come before the pledge and the loss of memories.
The more athletic of the two, Ezekiel had pulled ahead of Julian on the road just before they'd reached the gate, sprinting on ahead in a beeline towards the densest collection of noise. It was chaos as he burst onto the scene. Dark, save for the flick of torches, everything was cast in long shadows and an eerie red glow.
The man took a moment to take it all in. The frantic bodies running here and there, some barricading doors, some making torches. He watched the destruction of larger pieces of furniture and the rough stack of smaller items against double doors. An uneven, teetering mountain of amenities meant to keep out the dark.

JACK HAS A TORCH JACK IS SECURING THE DOOR
Spying more coming through the door, Jack broke away for a moment to check that they were properly equipped. Even by torchlight, however, it was still hard to see, and he accidentally bumped into one of the men in his energetic and long-legged tread over.
"Here." He offered his torch out to the newcomers. "The ballistas are loaded already. Lend a hand at the barricade and watch where you move." The darkness above and around them made it much too easy to lose their way.
With those brief instructions hopefully enough to orient them, Jack moved back to the barricade in time to help someone stack a chair into the pile. Even with all everyone had placed at the door, he couldn't help but wonder how all of this could honestly keep the horde at bay..."I think I see something else we could move here," he told the man, squinting ahead as he moved his torch forward. "For what little good it'll do us. A torch in the wrong spot will set us all up in flames."

Just a bit behind Ezekiel and already exhausted from their mad-dash run through the countryside, up through the castle, to join the efforts to secure the place against impending danger, as they stepped in to siege preparation, Julian was immediately overwhelmed and dragged to a halt. It was dark. It was loud. He ached, a stitch in his side as he struggled to draw in a proper breath.
He froze, blinking around them widely with his mouth just a bit parted.
"....torch." IT came out choked and rough. "Can't see anything. Need a light..."

ARRAKIS IS SECURING THE DOOR ARRAKIS HAS A TORCH
Now that he had a light, Arrakis shoved away awareness of the lump in his throat in the interest of helping secure the door. Training supplies weren't ideal, but they would do. He grabbed as much as he could and shoved them against the door, jamming them into place as well as he could manage before turning around for more.

A glance back at Julian as he came huffing up beside him. Whatever the man did pre-pledge, it had not been very athletic. He looked about ready to fall over, clutching at his side and damn near wheezing about light and torches. "Fine." A little extra illumination certainly wouldn't hurt.
A hand touched Julian's arm lightly as he moved past, venturing into the shadow to locate a couple of chair legs. A sudden bump unsteadied him, forced him to smack a hand against the wall to stay on his feet, and he turned with a the start of a snarl on his face before the offer of lighting the makeshift torches stopped him. He eyed the other man as he wrapped the two chair legs in torn fabric, then offered a thanks in gratitude as he held them both up until they caught fire and flared to life. Instructions given, Ezekiel nodded before heading back to his travel companion.
When he returned to Julian he offered over one of the torches. "Here." Let there be light.

In his urgency, Arrakis should have perhaps been paying better attention to what he was doing. A horse was not going to work, and a horse did not appreciate him trying, that was for sure. He let the horse go to avoid being trampled or bitten and turned the air blue again. Alright, he had to do better than that! There had to be other things around, right? He whirled in a circle, eyes darting from place to place in search of something, anything he could use to help barricade the door.

PIPER IS SECURING THE DOOR
Piper, who had been handling a chair with a grunting oof every few steps (was this thing a small throne? it seriously was larger than her), barely saw the run amok horse in time to get out of the way. With a yelp, she tossed herself to the side and stumbled into one area of the barricade, dropping her load with a small cry. "What the--owww."
Disentangling herself, she quickly began to check her thick, cloud-like hair for extra passengers and plucked a few shards of wood out. "Hey, buddy, you were not just about to throw a horse into this, were you?" she asked with a small frown.

Nothing could have prepared him for the sight of that sky.
It was... horrifying. Almost as horrifying as the creatures milling around below them, biding their time. Szczeosny moved back and away from the ramparts, trying to still his heart which was beating too fast, sending adrenaline piercing through his spine. What if they lost? What if -
All light extinguished, save a few torches. Whatever he'd torn from the ground in the darkness hadn't managed to catch, and if anything the mask only served to make him more blind than ever.
"Need a torch!" he shouted, a bit muffled, a little shaky. He couldn't see even a foot in front of him here.

With dark brown hair and two days of stubble, Kostya is a rugged, attractive knight. Although he's not the tallest among the knights-- measuring in at only 5'7"-- his body is honed from the training he did in and around his native villages, sleek and whipcord strong. He prefers to work at range, utilizing a large crossbow as his weapon of choice.
In personality, Kostya leans towards the stoic, although a cruel streak in him leads to humor at other people's expenses. He traditionally carries around a small flagon of alcohol, acquired through whatever means necessary. He lacks true compassion, and cannot process empathy in any significant amount, leading him to take advantage of lesser folk-- by manipulation or force-- to get what he wants. Rank of character apprentice-knight
It had taken him longer than expected to prepare before heading into the chaos. Late. Mind still racing the blonde approached the noise, clutter, darkness and blinked with confusion. That is until pieces of what was going on around him started to make sense. Fumbling into the darkness the freckle faced blonde ended up on the heels of a panting man. Or what he assumed to be a man by the voice, otherwise Cain was squinting so hard to see it would take a miracle for him to make out the shadowed figure ahead of him.
When another approached a breath of relief came, the flicker of red lighting the older mans face. A side step and he closed in on them both, "I can't see." As if that wasn't painfully obvious, but the fact that he was still squinting even with the torch-light may have given more away. "I'm going to stand with you, I can fight." He made sure to put emphasis on both parts, he wasn't leaving and now they didn't have an excuse to really get rid of him or they didn't in his mind.
The goblet was in their hands, they could have another companion or a really unwanted shadow.

My character's name: lurks beneath Character's journal link:here BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER
Lurks is little more than five feet tall, including the voluminous amount of rags covering them from head to toe. Half cloak and half bandage, Lurks still looks like the beggar they used to be, before becoming a knight, as they're uncomfortable being exposed in any capacity. A high cowl or scarf always covers the lower portion of their face, meaning they're a little-bit muffled most of the time. They always carry a small corn husk doll, if only they could remember what it was for...
The only hint that they're a knight at all comes in the form of a paltry scythe, which is only a little bit taller than they are.
He didn't hear who was addressing him at first, but after a moment his focus shifted and he processed what was being asked of him and who was asking it. Setting down more supplies in front of the door, he shook his head emphatically. "No! I promise, I did not mean to grab the horse!" His eyes glanced away from hers and his skin reddened from something more than the exertion of hauling things back and forth. "It was definitely an accident, I swear!" He shoved some of the things against the door to make sure what he had just added didn't tumble away or destablise the whole mess. "Are you alright?" His eyes glanced to the shards of wood in her hair as he turned back around to consider the next addition to the barricade.
