He knows he isn't, and that's just fine by him because there's plenty of people who are. Everyone is considered a friend by default, and that general notion is amplified on the island - surely nobody would consider doing him harm because they are all fighting for the same cause - but he will soon come to realize who to avoid, and he will do so simply because he is happier doing so.
Isaac's standard mode of operation is nice guy, but he's not a complete idiot. He generally chooses to believe that no one means him harm and everyone will reciprocate when he treats those around him with respect and dignity. It's hard for him to realize when he's been had, and because he does not have ulterior motives, he generally believes that nobody around him does, either.
Isaac will be very dedicated to the cause; however, he is easily led off track. If he is supposed to be training or running courses, it is easy for him to be persuaded to do otherwise. Though this is just an example, it is a reoccurring theme in his life. He is also very compliant and biddable, and will do anything he can to follow orders that are given to him. Isaac does not mind being bossed around; in fact, he actually prefers it. He does know the difference between right and wrong, he just keeps his morals ambiguous and tends to go with the flow more often than not.
Despite his amenable nature, Isaac's temper can be tempestuous when he finally reaches his boiling point. He can be brutally violent and intensely vicious in defense of himself (or those he considers important to him), but it takes a long, long time to get him there. It is never difficult to tell when he does reach that point, though; it is an almost tangible shift in personality.
Hobbies: Isaac thoroughly enjoys woodcarving. Isaac is thoroughly awful at it. He knows it, but he keeps at it because he loves doing it. He also tries really hard to get better at it, but when that fails he reminds himself that it's a hobby and nothing more. Because he's so awful at it, he's always cutting himself and his fingers are laced with shallow, pale, paper-thin scars.
Isaac also loves cats. He grieved deeply when his most dearest Swiffle died. There will never be another cat like Swiffle (who was an awful, vile one-eyed cat who did nothing productive in her entire life).
His true passion is fishing. He knows how to tie all of the lures, all of the knots. He loves the feel of a thrashing fish hooked on his line. He loves the sound of the sea and the feel of swelling waves and the briny stink of ocean air. He loves the hot slip of entrails against his hands as he cleans his catch. Fishing is his number one hobby, and the one he's most passionate about.
