                  Name » Kynigoth
                  Size » Average
                  Build » Average
                  Age » half a turn
                  Egg » Invasive Egg

                  Personality
                  "Inquisitive."

That's the polite term for what Kynigoth is. Those less polite - or just less fond of her - would call her nosy, or worse. Much worse. She isn't one of those annoyingly but charmingly curious dragons seeking a general knowledge of everything and everyone; what she wants is to know every dark, shameful, and dramatic secret she can get her claws into. Worse still, her ultimate goal is to expose those secrets. And if she has trouble finding juicy secrets, she becomes all the more convinced that said secrets exist and are just buried very, very deeply, and so they must also be truly, wonderfully awful ones. She is convinced that there is no such thing as a completely "good" person, and she will dig tirelessly for skeletons and ulterior motives.

Kynigoth will never meet a rumor or conspiracy theory she doesn't like, no matter how many of them don't pan out in the end. Each one will be pursued with the same dogged enthusiasm, and all progress and assumptions will be happily shared along the way with anyone willing to listen. She loves having an audience almost as much as she loves investigating, and may be inclined to recruit others into helping with her investigations. Making and keeping friends may be difficult for this green, however, as Kynigoth is, well...Kynigoth, and just because she likes someone doesn't mean they're exempt from her prying ways. She may be quicker to 'wrap up' investigations involving those she's especially fond of, though, by finding some convenient excuse or justification, and coincidentally having more pressing matters to attend to.

Though many conclusions will be jumped to, feelings hurt and reputations damaged, Kynigoth doesn't do any of this out of malice. She honestly believes that the truth needs to come out, no matter how much that truth might hurt. How she gets to that truth will vary, particularly in her early turns while she's still trying to iron out her methods. It is possible, depending on the influence of her rider, that she will learn to be subtle, but by nature she leans more towards confrontational. If all else fails, yell! Hopefully her rider is not easily shocked or embarrassed, because this dragon loves herself some profanity.

While her meddling will certainly try the patience of many, no one can deny that she has guts. Fear and anxiety will never keep her down, and she will face every threat - be it real or just greatly exaggerated - with unflinching resolve that could be mistaken for fearlessness. In truth, she is not without fear: she just likes the adrenaline rush that comes with it.

When she's not searching metaphorical closets, she can be a pleasant, albeit incredibly eccentric, dragon. Just be prepared to sit through a lot of rambling.

                  Inspired by paranormal investigators!

Ghost hunting is the process of investigating locations that are reported to be haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost hunting team will attempt to collect evidence that they see as supportive of paranormal activity. Ghost hunters often utilize a variety of electronic equipment, such as the following types: the EMF meter; digital thermometer; handheld and static digital video cameras, such as thermographic (or infrared) and night vision; digital audio recorder; and computer. Traditional techniques such as conducting interviews and researching the history of a site are also employed. Ghost hunting has been criticized for its absence of scientific method; no scientific body has been able to confirm the existence of ghosts. Ghost hunting is officially classified as a pseudoscience.

Many ghost-hunting groups say they find evidence of something they can't explain through scientific or natural means, yet critics question ghost-hunting's methodology, particularly its use of instrumentation, as there is no scientifically-proven link between the existence of ghosts and cold spots or electromagnetic fields. According to skeptical investigator Joe Nickell, the typical ghost hunter is practicing pseudoscience. Nickell says that ghost hunters often arm themselves with EMF meters, thermometers that can identify cold spots, and wireless microphones that eliminate background noise, pointing out the equipment being used to try to detect ghosts is not designed for the job. "The least likely explanation for any given reading is it is a ghost," maintains Nickell. Orbs of light that show up on photos, he says, are often particles of dust or moisture. "Voices" picked up by tape recorders can be radio signals or noise from the recorder and EMF detectors can be set off by faulty wiring or microwave towers.

According to investigator Benjamin Radford, most ghost hunting groups make many methodological mistakes. Anyone can be a ghost investigator, "failing to consider alternative explanations for anomalous ... phenomena," considering emotions and feelings as "evidence of ghostly encounters." "Improper and unscientific investigation methods" for example "using unproven tools and equipment," "sampling errors," "ineffectively using recording devices" and "focusing on the history of the location...and not the phenomena." In his article for Skeptical Inquirer Magazine, Radford concludes that ghost hunters should care about doing a truly scientific investigation. "I believe that if ghosts exist, they are important and deserve to be taken seriously. Most of the efforts to investigate ghosts so far have been badly flawed and unscientific --- and, not surprisingly, fruitless."

                  Why Me?
Kalendol has backbone, and everything else that Kynigoth could possibly require: conviction, confidence, a quick mind, a willingness to do what needs to be done and say what needs to be said, but without thought for personal gain. These traits, combined with her insight, culminate in the ideal investigative partner for Kynigoth. Working together, they have the potential to solve any problem presented to them, get to the bottom of every mystery, and shine light on dark secrets.

Kynigoth, so convinced that darkness lurks everywhere, needs her rider to teach her that there is beauty in the world, that sometimes what is good really is good, not just a fabrication. And if Kalendol could also impart a bit of sensitivity, she'd really be doing everyone a favor!

participation in the Banshidheth clutch in benden weyr

                  Kynigoth
The Invasive Green turned in the opposite direction, taking a few paces towards the girls, then turning right back around again. No! She had something to say about all this and she must say it now! The Invasive green circled around the backside of a cluster of boys and pushed her way through them and straight back to Jamarin, Kalendol, and Atibonth. With a huff towards her clutch brother she looked between the two before settling a pair of startling bright rainbow eyes on Kalendol.

<Kalendol, did you know that that boy over there is really a girl? Your Kynigoth sees things others do not!>

                  Kalendol and Kynigoth
When the blue came to Jamarin with those rainbow eyes, Kalendol beamed at him and nodded. "See, he wasn't the only one. I knew you'd be next." She grinned at her friend and then felt something drawing near. Her eyes widened as the little invasive green came to her. "Oh... This means..." A blush filled her face and the girls eyes brimmed with tears. "Kynigoth." She whispered. But then her dragonet said something bizarre and Kalendol flashed Jamarin a quick look. 'I see.' The girl thought with a small smile.

The little dragonet seemed to hum in delight at having told someone at last and then nodded, <Yes, Mine. Your Kynigoth is very observant.> The pale green dragonet seemed to be positively thrilled with this undoubted knowledge. Her eyes briefly followed her rider's to Jamarin and she hummed louder.

"They must be hungry." Kalendol mused to Jamarin, "Shall we go show Jikkiri Ours?" She grinned and looked down at Kynigoth for confirmation.

The dragonet seemed to hum even louder as Kalendol spoke of getting food. <Yes, the boy there has funny clothes that do not taste that good, Mine.>
