generous: Never possessive, Tayyib sees a lot of turn-over in his belongings. If giving away one (or two, or three, or...) of his belongings makes someone happy or takes away their worries, he's all for it. Countless scoldings during his youngling days have finally taught Tayyib not to volunteer other people's services and resources on their behalf. But even now, all the yelling in the world won't stop him from sharing or outright giving away his things. (Yelling does, fortunately, give him second thoughts about enabling someone's avarice and stop him from giving away almost everything.)
flexible: Tayyib is flexible in body, heart, and mind. On the stage with the rest of his family, he revels in his agility, challenging himself to try out ever more daring stunts. Off the stage, a setback never keeps him down for long before he's trying a fresh approach. There are times when he would be better served by persevering with one plan than using a new tactic every time something doesn't work right away, but he hasn't quite come to that realization just yet.
mindful: Despite his easy-going manner, Tayyib is a careful, attentive young man. He requires himself to be mindful of not only his surroundings but also his actions and the consequences of those actions. On the downside, he still tends to give people the benefit of the doubt even where it might not be deserved, and sometimes he weighs the consequences too heavily or too long. Still, unless circumstances force his hand, he would rather deliberate than risk inflicting others with the repercussions of a half-baked plan. He functions better as an advisor and planner than a leader.
Tayyib abounds in sunny bonhomie. He earnestly wishes to see the people around him safe, happy, and fulfilled, even the stranger he's only just met. To this end, he is generous with all of his resources, both concrete and abstract -- items, time, attention, knowledge, connections, you name it. If it's just a matter of giving away what he has, why not? It's not like he can see any good in hoarding.
Those who tell him their woes can be assured of a listening ear and, if they want it, thoughtful advice and all the help he can give. He enjoys putting his creativity to use coming up with solutions. He doesn't always wait to be told, either. He observes the needs and moods of those around him by force of ingrained habit, and he is proactive about offering his help, secretly if need be.
There are, of course, times when others exploit this generosity. Tayyib doesn't mind when someone takes fully as much as he can offer, but he is starting to recognize that sometimes his generosity enables others to pursue their vices to the point of self-destruction. Truth be told, he finds this balancing act between supporting other and enabling others much more challenging than the one he performs on a tightrope before an audience.
When it comes to his own problems and negative feelings, Tayyib tends to keep them to himself. But just bottling things up doesn't make them go away. Sometimes these troubles fester inside, making him a little more impulsive, a little more reckless, a little more narrowly focused. His family (and likely his close friends too) can tell when he's brooding over something by the risks he starts to take, the sparks of temper that flare up.
Description: Members of the Leaf Tribe have reddish-brown hair, green eyes, pointy ears, tan skin, and pink crystals. Tayyib is no exception, though in his case, his hair is a brighter red than most, his skin a lighter shade than others. Other than noting that he keeps his hair out of the way, I'd like to leave his hair length and style up to artist's choice. The crystals on his face follow the curve of his cheeks, while those on his torso trace the lines of his collarbones and shoulders. Feel free to add other crystals wherever you'd like.
Clothing: Simplicity and fit are important to Tayyib. He weaves acrobatics into the movements of daily life as well, a flip there, a swing from one branch to the next there, so he avoids anything that might catch on something else. His only fashion indulgence are the bold geometric patterns on the hems.
Accessories: Tayyib wears a Kinfa-themed armlet on one arm; the armlet can be made of metal, stone, or bone. He sometimes keep a satchel of supplies with him -- full when the day begins, emptier (or just plain empty) when the day ends. He's also in the habit of weaving feathers into his hair. Feel free to pick just one or two of these.
History:
Tayyib is the oldest child born to two Leaf entertainers, both natives of Yera. His mother was a skilled dancer and musician, his father an equally skilled acrobat and hunter. Their repertoire made them much in demand, and their children traveled with them whenever a celebration in one of Tale's settlements required their services. Tayyib's exceptional flexibility made him an early and valuable addition to the stage.
As a Youngling, Tayyib had a habit of giving people whatever his little hands could grasp. As he grew older, this habit continued to manifest in different aspects of his life. With an adoptive brother and sister ahead of him in age, he could have shirked the duties of being the oldest, but instead he embraced them with glee when his younger siblings came along. During his performances, he is perfectly happy playing a supporting role or sharing the spotlight. What he likes best is not the applause, not the attention, but the feeling of community.
As Tayyib nears the end of his prentice years, he still enjoys dancing, acrobatics, and stage combat every bit as much as he used to. But of late, he has also considered learning martial skills, especially now that his best friend Yaholo is a hammer-wielding guard. Knowing how to wield a sword properly could help him protect people in times of danger, after all.
