Pokemon Entry One - Solo

Along the wooded landscape lived many a far reaching pokemon, but none so far removed as Mitsuru. Her entire life consisted of a carefully followed schedule that blended in with most days of the week, allowing her the kind of freedom that one obtains when said pokemon didn’t have to think too much. She didn’t mind, though. She was happy, contented and best of all…loved! And boy, was she loved! Everyone she met was greeted with a smile and a warm hug, after being showered by flowers in their pit. With her strict schedule, she was able to perfect her little booby traps, allowing her to catch all sorts of “friends”. Of course, it was all in good sport, so why were they always so mad?

Shaking off the morning dew, the little Shaymin scuttled down just as the sun was beginning to rise to check on her traps. She was going to have the bestest best friend yet! She just knew it! With a gleeful little squeal she bounded down the incline to the watering hole where she had set up her newest invention; the cave. In all actuality it was a primitive hole in the ground that she had been working on for months, but it did its purpose.

And had it ever! The Mamoswine inside sure did seem awfully angry, but she knew better. They always started off mad, but a couple days without food turned their mood right around. Too bad he wasn’t in the hole very good. He seemed to only be stuck a little bit with his head poking out the top. She knew that just wasn’t going to work when he started to spit at her. What nerve! Or wait! Maybe that was how you were supposed to greet a new friend?

With her little paws running along the ground, she easily closed in on his position. Her eyes were wide as saucers and full of love. Surely he would come to see her the same way too. After all, they were the only two of their respective types. Seeing as she had only seen herself, that meant there was only one Shaymin, and by proxy, only one Mamoswine. Being alone wasn’t very fun, but having a friend would make it all worthwhile.

“We’re going to be bestest best friends!” She chirped, and with a mighty shift, the little shaymin spat in his face.

Pokemon Entry Two - The Star

Stars were lovely creatures that roamed the sky with fleeting passion. Mitsuru felt sure that she knew exactly what they were feeling because she felt it too. She loved to explore the forest as much as they did, but it was the open plains that called her home. Amongst the flowers she would lay, nestled up against the seas of green and open air.

She rolled along the terrain with a light hearted giggle. Where had Mamoswine gotten off to? After a couple days of forced starvation he had seen her side of it easily enough, but for some reason he ran away before she could tell him how much she valued him as a friend. Oh well; maybe he wasn’t the right friend for her. But then, none of the others really had been, had they? Only that pink girl had shown any kind of friendly nature towards her.

Sprawled out on her back, the little Shaymin sighed. What she wouldn’t give not to be so alone. At times it was really nice because she didn’t have to follow the rules of others, but sometimes she wished she could play. Mitsuru was the best friend anyone could have so…why didn’t they want her?
That was when she noticed it. The little shaymin hurriedly hopped to her paws and watched as a single star fell towards her. This was it! The stars were calling her to play with them, and this one was going to take her up. “Here, I’m right here!” Closer, closer, closer…her friends were coming to play! She was absolutely ecstatic by the moment she was knocked cold, and sent into the realm of dreams.

Child Entry One - The Reaction

The stars were lovely tonight.

When Mitsuru awoke, she was flat on her back in the Gracidea flowers. They nestled her chilled flesh on soft petals while she struggled back into consciousness. Something didn’t feel right. Everything felt…wrong. When she tried to roll over, her legs wouldn’t cooperate, and when they did, all she ended up doing was crouch with her butt in the air.

That was when she noticed her fingers.

At first, she didn’t know what to think. Mitsuru leaned forward, snuggling her bare form against the flowers with her nose pressed against them. They were soft, and when flexed made a very…human fist?!

The Shaymin squealed and jumped back, only to land on her butt in the flowers. Where were her paws?! She had hands! And feet! Even legs! She grabbed and tugged, scratched and pulled against her new body to make sure it was real. It couldn’t have been real, right? Her fur wasn’t even the right color!

Almost on cue a gust of wind ran down her spine, demonstrating that she did not, indeed, have fur any longer. Wisps of curled hair bounced across her face, caressing the tears that were rapidly spilling. Wrong, wrong, wrong! That star had tricked her! Mitsuru cupped her head in her hands as she cried. No one would be here friend now. Why would they want to? She looked like a human.

And yet…when she held her head, she felt her flowers. Her lovely, beautiful flowers. Mitsuru gave a cry of relief and reached up to hold them in her hands. If they were still there, then she wasn’t human! She wasn’t a shaymin anymore, but she wasn’t a human, and that alone as enough to bring her back from the edge of panic.

It didn’t stop the tears though. As she crawled back to her burrow, her hands and knees scraping through dirt, she found that she could only just fit in the tiny hole. Still, it was home, and fit she did.

What better place to sleep off tears than the comfort of your own home?

Child Entry Two

It wasn’t every day that Mitsuru went into the town at the edge of her forest. The bustling little village was practically overflowing with life as it soaked up some of the good warmth that came as a surprise in the winter months. After finding a safe spot to rest behind a Baker’s shop, Mitsuru set out to find warmer clothes.

Actually, she made quite the spectacle. More than a few sets of eyes turned her way as she flitted around from shop window to shop window. She was small, even for her age, and covered with dirt. The clothing she currently wore was nothing more than a torn white dress, a pair of large rain boots and a men’s suit jacket. Still, the stares didn’t stop her from putting her grubby hands all over the windows as she “oohed” and “awed”, even if she was ultimately chased away.

“Hey kid, watch where you’re going!”

Mitsuru had been so keen on getting away from the latest angry woman with a broom that she hadn’t seen the Houndoom she’d ran into. The two stumbled, and she vaguely noticed that the other was….”Hey, hey!” She grabbed onto the Houndoom’s hands, which were wrapped in leather gloves, and smiled bright. “You’re a freak, just like me!”

Solange rolled her eyes. “Awesome,” she grumbled. It was just like her to run into another Poke’kid, right when she was already in the midst of such an awesome winter vacation. “Woah, I am not a freak, and neither are you. You’re gross, but you’re not a freak.”

Mitsuru just smiled, nowhere near ready to let go of the jewel she’d discovered. Judging by the Houndoom’s winter wear she was well taken care of, and that’s exactly what she wanted to hear. “Yes we are. We’re not normal, but then we’re not their normal.” She pointed to a family of humans at the café across the street. The sneer she gave was mildly amusing to Solange. “But, but, you can help me, right? I keep trying to get these things, like you, but every time I do they chase me out.” Her grubby little hands couldn’t let go of those gloves; they were just so warm!

When a gust of wind so cold that Articuno would have frozen solid mid-flight came by, Solange knew what she had to do. She grabbed the little hand in hers, drug it into the nearest shop, and pulled out a change purse. “I was going to try to save this, so I could visit a friend again, but you need it more.” Without waiting for a response, Solange opened Mitsuru’s hand, and sat it in her palm. “It’s not much, but it should help you get what you need.”

“Excuse me, miss,” The shopkeeper hesitantly stepped forward, unsure of what to say. The older girl was alright, but it was the younger one, the one who was leaving stains on her rug that made her worry.

Mitsuru’s elated eyes turned to worry as she grabbed onto Solange’s coat and hid behind the bigger girl. “I-I don’t think I should be here…” She whispered, looking up at the Houndoom. “I was here before, and she doesn’t like me.”

Solange ruffled the mop of green hair and turned fiery eyes on the shop keep, “Listen up. You’ve already turned away a helpless child once, and if you don’t want to find out what this cheap s**t looks like on fire I suggest you help me find this girl some clothes.” Her tail flipped aggressively behind her.

The older woman gulped and nodded, ushering the two of them towards the children’s section. At first, Mitsuru didn't know what to think. Humans were beginning to not look so bad in her book, but that didn't mean she liked being surrounded by them. These clothes, though, were gorgeous! It didn't take her long to pick out a couple sweater dresses, a pair of boots and leggings, as well as a nice, big, fluffy yellow coat.

Solange paid for the load, despairing at the sight of her empty wallet, but happy to see the grin spread out on the girls face. When Mitsuru tried to put on her coat, Solange put a hand on her shoulder. “How about we get you cleaned up first.”

Mitsuru nodded, and when she smiled, her flowers begin to glow. In fact, sprouts begin to spread out among her hair until her head looked like a mini Gracidea bush. “Thank you so much.” That gratitude she felt in that moment was overwhelming. She’d made friends since her transformation, but never one that had done so much for her, without asking for anything in return.

“Yeah, yeah, okay.” The stares of the onlookers was getting to her, and with a hurried urge, Solange led Mitsuru back to the hotel she shared with Cordelia.

She just hoped they packed enough soap.

Child Entry Three

It had been a few days since Mitsuru had come to stay with her new friend Solange, and so far she couldn’t imagine anything worse. The lodgings they had were a moderate hotel in the center of town where the walls were as thin as paper, and the floors creaked. At first, the little Shaymin had been curious of her surroundings, but after two days she just wanted to leave. But how? If she just left they would think her rude. Cordelia had already bought her a new winter wardrobe, scrubbed her squeaky clean and even trimmed her curls!

At the moment she sat on the edge of a desk and swung her legs. When a car honked outside she squealed and jumped up, straight into Solange’s arms.

The Houndoom had known something was screwy with this kid from the moment she ran into her on the street. She wasn’t an average Poke’kid, that was for sure, and from the way she tended to stick to the plants in the hallway it was obvious she didn’t belong in the city. With Cordelia out, it fell on Solange to play “adult” and get to the bottom of it all.

Mitsuru wrapped her arms around the older girl’s waist, protesting visibly when she was pried away with strong dark arms, only to be picked up instead. Solange moved to the desk chair by the window and sat, coddling the little girl on her lap. “I want to go home,” Mitsuru admitted at last. Her voice was small and timid, a far cry from her usual brash behavior. She latched onto Solange’s braid and played with the end while the Houndoom shifted into a more comfortable position.

“Well, where is your home?”

“I…don’t exactly have one.”

“Then why are you…?”

“It’s just a feeling,” Mitsuru placed her palm over her chest. “In here. I’m getting really close. It’s just over the mountain.” She looked out the window once more at the looming terrain outside. While a mountain was indeed close to the tiny snow covered village, it was more than a full month’s walk on foot.

The thought worried Solange. “There is no way in hell I’m letting you go there alone, so just forget it.” When Mitsuru started to protest, Solange cut her off. “Cordelia has a car, so we’ll drive you. I’m not really sure what kind of crazy mapping mumbo jumbo you’ve got going on, and I’m not sure I want to know, but I DO know you’ll never make it on your own. Kid, you almost froze to death already!”

Mitsuru pouted and hopped off Solange's lap only to turn, hands on hips, a look of adorable determination on her face. For the first time her clear green eyes were set on a goal that she wasn't likely to stray from. "You can drive me," she pointed to the older girl. "BUT you can't stay. It's something I want to do by myself."

"By yourself?" Solange huffed and rolled her eyes. "You can't do anything by yourself. You were half starved, frozen, and begging for someone to talk to you when we met. You've been on your own for too long." She sat forward, and motioned with her hands. "Look, why don't you let us come with you? We can help you find whatever it is you're looking for, and then you can come back to stay with us. Cordelia said it was fine, and I know I wouldn't mind having you around."

Like it or not, the Houndoom had become terribly attached to the little Shaymin. It was almost like having her old pack back; at least, the younger ones. They looked up to her, depended on her, and thought the world of her. She'd thought that Mitsuru was the same way, but apparently she was different.

"No!" Mitsuru snapped. When she realized how aggressive her tone had become, her flowers darkened and she slapped her hands on top of her mouth. "I just...I really like you guys, but I want to do this myself. It's something I really, really need to do."

Solange tossed up her hands and stood up, her heeled boots clicking on the wood as she started across the room. She'd meant to leave, to get some fresh air before she exploded, but all she ended up doing was pacing about like a caged animal. She couldn't argue with Mitsuru; it was her life and she had to make her own choices, but did that mean she couldn't watch over her? Be there for her?

Suddenly, Solange stopped and turned on the anxious girl. "We're going to drive you, but we'll stop wherever you tell us to. In exchange you have to stay safe and come find us sometime in the next six months. Got it?"

Mitsuru could have cried. She ran up to Solange and wrapped her arms around the surly Houndoom. "I will, I will! You'll see; I'll be just fine."

After a prolonged pause, Solange returned the embrace. "You better be, kid. You better be."

Child Skill- Mitsuru learns Seed Flare!

With the changing of the seasons, life began to shift for Mitsuru. With Brennen’s help, she’d managed to find the confidence she needed to really get started searching for the Gracidea flowers. She was so close to the valley that she could almost feel the brush of petals on her skin as she scurried uphill. The frigid winter winds were still going strong, but she was determined. Solange had cleaned, dressed, and provided her with hiking boots that would make a Mankey jealous; with this, she was able to hold her ground against a breeze that would normally have tossed her down. Little pale hands grasped roots and rocks, limbs and twigs to drag her to the top of the hill.

Her relief at making it was abruptly cut short by a dark mass in the trees. Still bent over, Mitsuru looked up slowly; dread coiling like an Ekans in her gut. In the tree above her was a Honchkrow, one that was using the opportunistic angle to glare condescendingly down at the scruffy child, taking time to pause it’s mid-afternoon preening. The Poke’mon flexed its wings at the same time Mitsuru picked herself up, and at the same time she started off through the trees the Honchkrow began to fly.

She didn’t know where to go, or how fast. He obviously knew these woods better than she did, and it didn’t look like he was planning on sharing them any time soon. Her boot caught on a root, causing her to fall on her face, which ultimately saved her from being hit with the full blast of Honchkrow’s Dark Slash attack. Still, she took damage and was barely able to stand up again due to the pain in her back.

The panicked Shaymin looked around her for a quick escape. Mitsuru was no fighter; it showed by the way she could only shiver with the Honchkrow performing a sweep in the air surrounding the trees. She shrieked and tried to dodge, but she couldn’t avoid the Honchkrow’s claws. The talons cut a long, deep cut across her face, sending the girl tumbling back onto the ground. He was coming back for a final attack and…

She looked up as a surge of energy whipped around her body. Somehow, someway she knew it to be Seed Flare. She’d seen it before, had admired its tenacity, but had never believed that she could. Now, when her very life was on the line, she let it fly. The Honchkrow was far too close to dodge. Waves of blue energy slammed into it as the shock wave swelled, sending the screeching bird past the trees and into the air beyond.

Mitsuru flopped back onto her rump in the dirt, her breathing hard and ragged. Tear stains marked in dirt had dried on her cheeks, and blended with the blood that had covered the lower part of her face. Her once flawless winter coat was now stained red. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to panic over it. She wanted to be excited because of her accomplishment, but at the same time the terror she’d felt was so strong that she just felt numb. The pain was real, as was that attack, and it just further proved to her that not only were humans untrustworthy, but so were her fellow Poke’mon.

When her nerves had cooled, much like her limbs, the young Shaymin bustled to her feet went off in search of the Gracidea flowers, all the while praying that Honchkrow wouldn’t find her again.

Teen Entry - Growth Response!

Finding the Gracidea flowers had been the crowning achievement in Mitsuru’s young life. After so long of searching she’d stumbled upon the grand field. Its wide arms enveloped her, reaching up with tendrils more fuschia than green to bring her into its midst. Still, she didn’t find any other Shaymin. They were out there somewhere, they had to be, but where she did not know.

One Spring night had been especially cold, and the young one had sought shelter in a tent that Solange had packed up for her. She had a little difficulty constructing it, but the fire had been easier, which was good, because toes couldn’t warm themselves! This kind of thing…seeking shelter and warmth for a human like body was normal now. She was happy, content, even blissful, surrounded by thousands of flowers with her own glistening bright and filling her with power. If she were still a Poke’mon she might have been able to change into her Sky forme, but that thought was lost on her. Mitsuru just sung a catchy little song, slipped into a pair of Pikachu inspired pajamas and snuggled up for bed.

It was the next morning when the flyers began to sing that she noticed a difference. Her sleeping bag was open, even though she’d zipped it tight last night, and her bare legs brushed the bottom of the tent. Mitsuru yawned, stretching her arms above her head in a wide arch and frowned. She could see her toes, which was weird, since they should have been in the booties attached to the pajamas. She wiggled them once, twice, three times as a group and then once in a free for all fashion. The young girl crossed her legs, picking at the edge of her pajama bottoms as she yawned, only noticing in that instant that her arms were free as well. And looking down….well, she noticed two new additions that certainly hadn’t been there when she’d went to sleep!

Feeling a panic settling in, Mitsuru stumbled into the morning air, flailed through the grass, knocking over a fold up chair in the process in her mad dash to get to the stream that bisected the valley. She fell to her knees before it, feeling rather than seeing a large amount of hair splashing into the water at her side. What she saw terrified her. Why was she still changing?! Wasn’t once enough? Mitsuru pulled at her cheeks, stretching the skin around her eyes, and ears before settling back onto her rump before the water.

She pulled her knees up to her chest, feeling the sob that would watch the tears breaking over her cheeks. This was HORRIBLE. Whatever curse had been placed her on her had to go! Stupid, stupid, stupid star! She wasn’t supposed to be getting bigger. Bigger was bad; more noticeable, easier to find, and a bigger target for the bad Poke’mon that wanted to hurt her. Couldn’t that star see this? Couldn’t it see what it was doing to her?!

Mitsuru couldn’t even look at anything from the neck down. It was all wrong, so she pulled her knees closer to herself so she could block it out with her legs. This trip was supposed to make her feel better about all of this, and it had, until this. First she’d been attacked, then she didn’t find her family, but she found the Gracidea flowers, so that was good, and she’d met Solange and Cordelia, but this…

This was the worst day of her life.
