Brennen had no boots to keep him warm. No coat. Not even his sister. He'd lost track of her some time ago, something that had broken the celebi's heart. It must have been the cold near spring conditions that had driven his sibling from him. Maybe he would find her come summer. He'd taken a hollow fallen log as his home--that was, until he felt an earthquake from above him. He flitted out to see what the matter was, wide blue eyes studying Mitsuru carefully.

The celebi attached himself to the shaymin girl's face. He gave an excitable sound, rubbing his cheek to hers. "Mine!" he declared, taking a place on the girl's shoulder. She was warm! Would she let him stay with her? But no...What if she disappeared like Cecily and Mariana had? Would she? He wrapped two small hands in the girl's hair. "You're nice and warm," he observed. "Don't leave me out in this cold. Everyone's left."

And if she did try to leave, he would follow her. She belonged to him, now.

"I was looking for my sister, when it got so cold," Brennen explained, seemingly content in his new position in the shaymin girl's arms. "She disappeared a while ago. I don't know where she is. I can't find her. I kept looking and looking and then I got all frozen--" the celebi trembled at the thought. Was his sibling still out in the cold? Was she freezing? What if she couldn't find somewhere warm to stay? What if she'd been caught by a trainer?

"A friend left too," he said. "She gave me a book and let me draw like her, and then she left." He gave a sniff. "I can't find her either. She said she had other pokemon to take care of. She said she'd come back but she hasn't come back! And I waited until it was cold and I waited even after--" Brennen paused, attaching himself to Mitsuru's arm. "Do you have somewhere warm to stay?" he asked. "Can I stay with you?"

"N-not coming back?" Brennen stammered, blinking up at the shaymin girl. "Why wouldn't she come back?" he asked. Was she dead? "Is someone keeping her? Have you found her?" He remembered his sibling's fear of humans quite well. Had her fears become reality? Had humans seperated them? Perhaps Mariana had--but no... She was too nice. He had been so sure she was nice! "Okay," he said. "Until it's warmer." He would look for his sister in the Spring!

"Migrate?" he echoed, blinking. "Gracidea flowers?" She seemed to know what was she was talking about, so he wouldn't question her. What was migrating? What were gracidea flowers? "The forest is nice," he informed her. "We can stay here, and it'll be nice. We can find somewhere warm. I know we can!"

"I miss her," Brennen said with a sigh. He brightened at the shaymin girl's next statement, though. He gave a nod. "Maybe I'll find her!" he agreed, rewarding the girl with a smile. "I don't want to freeze. I don't like the cold. When will it go away? I want it gone now."

"Why do you need to find them?" Brennen asked, tilting his head slightly. "Why not snowdrops or daffodils or the pretty flowers in the trees during spring? Why Gracidea flowers?" Were they special to her in some way? He wasn't sure he understood their signifigance. "Do they keep you company?" he asked, blinking. He'd never heard a flower talk before--but maybe flowers did make for good company. The tiny celebi frowned, shaking his head.

"I don't want you to be alone," he said. "You're too nice to be alone."

"I don't like you being sad," the celebi said, turning to put reach a hand to touch her arm. He found his arms were too short and frowned slightly. "I want you to be happy. Let's find your flowers. I know you'll find them. It's not right for anyone to be unhappy. It's important for people to be happy." He gave her a smile. "I hope my sister is happy too, where ever she is. You can be my sister now. Then we won't be alone."

He paused and then added, "Will you find me again, if I find another home? Please? I'll miss you. And you're my sister now, so we have to meet again." He paused and shook his head. "Wait. You have to promise not to freeze too. You can't freeze. You'll be warm where you're going? Safe?" The celebi fretted. "You have to be safe. I won't let you go if you won't be."

"Never ever?" Brennen asked, beaming up at the shaymin girl. "You really promise?" Promises had been made and broken before; the celebi was aware that things happened and caused promises to be broken. "I'll miss you while you're gone," he said. "But as long as you promise to come back, I think I'll be okay. I'll find a home that's nice and warm for us, so we can share it."

He paused, frowning slightly. "Are you going to bring the flowers here?" he asked. "I bet they're pretty. Like you! But I don't want them to freeze... Don't bring them here when it's the cold time."

Brennen beamed at Mitsuru; he trusted her. He curled up in her coat, attempting to keep her warm with his body heat as well as keep himself warm. It was a struggle. "You'll freeze out here tonight," he said, noticing her shivers. Somehow the density of the forest seemed warmer. "We can find somewhere warmer for you to stay tonight," he suggested, concerned for his new friend. "I can help. Maybe there's a hollow big enough. Or a log... Or maybe even a cave!"

He didn't want Mitsuru to freeze! He huddled closer to her. "You're nice," he said. "And pretty. You won't freeze?" This wasn't warm enough for her! Maybe he could find her something warm? A blanket, maybe?
