Mitsuru looked down at the fork in the road as if it were a Seviper. She had walked down this path only moments ago, but she couldn't remember which way took her to her burrow! The worried little Shaymin huffed, and sat down in front of the sign post. She thought one way was closer to town, and the other was out near the mountains, but which way? She would hate it if she walked in the middle of human territory.
With a grumbled huff she sat down on the ground and stared up at the sign with a look of distaste. Human words were so hard to understand!

Lucinda was heading down the road, having just come from her special meditation place. She had told Dea and Eilam that she would meet them in town for some food. Luckily, she had time to get there before the planned meeting, so she didn't have to walk very fast. Her blue eyes were looking around, enjoying the beauty of the scenery. She took in a deep breath, smelling flowers and pine trees, which brought a gentle smile to her lips. She soon came to a fork in the road, noticing a girl sitting in front of a road sign. She tilted her head in curiosity, wondering why anyone would be looking so intently at the sign.
"Excuse me, I do hope I am not being rude, but can I ask why you are sitting there?"Lucy asked, hoping she had not startled the girl.

"I want to go home." Mitsuru huffed, her legs crossed, head sitting on her hands. She wasn't being irritable towards the new girl so much as her own thoughts. She had been trying for a long time to figure out which path would take her home, and it just wasn't working!
So, with a long, loud sigh she flopped back onto her back in the middle of the road to look at the newcomer. "Do you know the way to the mountain?" She sure hoped so! After all, this girl looked weird, and so far, weird people had been helping her out a lot lately.

Lucinda looked mildly surprised when the other explained they wanted to get home and did not know the way. She could clearly read the signs, but that was because Dea had taught all of her Pokemon to read, even before the change. She decided she would help this girl get home, knowing it was the right thing to do.
"You are going to want to take the left road to get to the mountains. It is a bit of a walk from here, but you should be able to make it there without too much trouble,"Lucy replied gently.

"Left? Which way is that?" Mitsuru asked, spinning around as she sat up so that she could better pay attention. Human concepts were still lost on the little Shaymin, and she found even the smallest of things to be difficult tasks.
"I'm not really all that worried about the walk," she answered easily. "I'm just a lost, is all. I know directions, though! Like North and South; things like that. It's just this other stuff that's-" She stuck out her tongue.

Lucinda's eyes widened as she heard the other girl ask her which direction was left. She couldn't believe anyone would not know left and right, then reminded herself she grew up with a human, so she was used to concepts.
"Left is the path that goes that way, where you can see the lake sparkling just a little bit from the path. How do you know the compass, but do not know some of these other things? Have you not been around humans?"Lucy asked.

"Humans?" She shuddered at the thought! "No way! They're so...ewww. Some of my friends told me the directions so I wouldn't get lost, but I guess I showed them wrong." Mitsuru giggled, rolling her eyes towards the lake. She didn't really remember it from earlier, but then, who was she to say that it hadn't always been there?
"How come you can read? Did YOU have humans teach you?"

Lucinda sighed softly when the girl voiced her disapproval of humans, knowing not all Pokemon liked the idea of them. She wished this was not the case, but it was just a fact of life to her.
"Yes, my trainer I have known since she was a little girl, in fact a lot of her Pokemon have known her since she was little. She is very sweet and just seems to have a knack for getting people and Pokemon to trust her. She is the one who taught me to read, all of her Pokemon know how to. She wants the best for all of us,"Lucy smiled, thinking about her trainer.

"Really? That sounds so weird." Mitsuru concluded. She sat her head in her hand for just as second, looking quizzically at the other Poke'child. Who would want to stay with a human for that long? Not Mitsuru, that's for sure!
"Can you help me, since she taught you?" She didn't want a HUMAN to teach her, goodness no, but someone like herself? Oh now, that would be just fine! "Please, please, please!"

Lucinda thought about it for a moment, wondering if she could teach the other to read. She tried to remember how Dea had started when she was teaching them and remembered it had started with the alphabet.
"I do not see anything weird about it, it is really quite normal for me to have my trainer. To answer your question, yes, I can help you learn to read, if you really want me to. I will try to remember everything I learned, so I can pass that knowledge on to you,"Lucy replied.

Mitsuru was a genius. She was sure that once she obtained the humans "reading" power then she could go anywhere she wanted to! It was brilliant! Proud and excited, she practically vibrated with energy. This was great, so, so, so great.
"I really, really want you to." She nodded. There was no doubt about how much she wanted this. "Teach all of it to me! I want it all! That way I won't get lost ever again, and I can knew when human food isn't really food, and...." Mitsuru prattled on, ticking off several subjects, even going so far as to count them off on her fingers.

Lucinda listened as the other started to list off things she could do. She remained quiet and respectful, knowing the other was bound to finish eventually. When she found a lull in the conversation, she decided she could finally jump in.
"Alright, if you want me to teach you how to read, then I will be glad to. Just know that I cannot teach you everything I learned in one day, since learning to read takes time. So we are going to need to find a place where we can meet,"Lucy explained.

"Awww," Mitsuru pouted. Even though she understood the reasoning, she couldn't help, but be disappointed. "But why not? I never get to meet friends a second time, so who says you'll show up when you say you are?"
Granted, the reason her friends usually never stick around is because she forcibly captures them in a trap, but that wasn't the point. She could make friends alright, but she couldn't keep them. "I'd be alright meeting here, though. If you PROMISE to be here."

Lucinda watched Mitsuru, waiting to see what she would say about all of this. She could see the disappointment in her face, but there was nothing she could do about that. It wasn't like she could magically teach her how to read in one day, it just was not possible.
"There is a lot to know about reading and it takes a lot of practice to get it right. Plus, I am going to need to ask from references from my friend, so that I am teaching you properly. Yes, I promise to meet you here, unless something unexpected comes up. I keep my promises,"Lucy assured.

Mitsuru nodded and bounced up. "Alright! It's a deal then!" She spat in her hand and held it out. "I've gotta go now, though; I still need to find num nums for later, but we can meet here a week from now, okay?"
A week was good. It was a human enough term and it wouldn't be too long. That is, if she could be patient enough to wait it out. That was the trick. "You can get everything you need, and be ready to go, right?"
