Meirou was out exploring a long, barnacle-encrusted breakwater, hunting for interesting shells, a frequent activity of hers and one that was not usually fraught with danger. Yet even though the sky was clear and the spot she was at was usually peaceful, she was surprised by a sudden and giant wave which crashed down around her without warning. Totally unprepared, she slipped, banging and scratching her body on sharp outcroppings before hitting the water. Though dazed and injured she tried very hard to stay afloat, even as she was thinking desperately to herself, how did that happen? this is not logical! and the current does not normally flow in the direction it is currently taking me!

But indeed, she was rapidly swept away from the shoreline, and with blood flowing from her forehead she could not stay above water long. Before she lost consciousness, though, she was lifted from the water by a pair of warm hands; looking up, she saw an astonishingly beautiful man, dressed in strangely beautiful robes. She was not even sitting in one of the little fishing boats that normally patrol off Far Shoals, but some sort of fancy noble's pleasure boat, all carved and gilded and hung with golden lamps flickering in the grayish fog. Now convinced that she had died and had been captured by some spirit-prince of the Silver World, she curled up in a corner and blacked out.

But she was not, in fact, dead, although she may have indeed thought so at first when she awoke, finding herself covered by the prince's exquisite jacket, her little wounds bandaged with fragrant silk, sitting in a strange, enclosed room, windowless and oddly lit, with bizarre black and silver devices placed around it. Never having seen such a chamber before, she thought it might be some sort of judgment-hall of souls; she would not know that it was a practice room.

Meirou is the daughter of two retired scholars. Her mother believed that she was past her reproductive years, and so Meirou was a surprise pregnancy, an unusual occurrence among Porcelain; however, her parents took her birth as a special blessing of Fortune. As neither parent worked during her childhood, Meirou was lavished with attention at every second; furthermore, her parents hardly ever disciplined her.

She has not grown up spoiled or temperamental, though; in fact, she has a very warm and upbeat personality and loves to help other people. But as a result of having her needs always met, she lacks a lot of practical skills and doesn't know how to take care of herself at times. She can also be rather willful; though she is an extremely capable and intellectual child who spends all her free time learning things or doing creative projects, she hated her old school because she was not allowed to skip boring or easy material, but her time with the Silver World's school has changed her opinion a little bit. Perhaps it wasn't the place itself, as she originally thought, but the people she was with. Challenge has inspired her greatly.

However now, the seemingly 'only-books-and-forever-books' Porcelain has seemed to have calmed down a bit since her return from the Silver World. She now still reads, but seems to connect a little bit more with others, and will put the book down when needed. Meirou is still certainly interested in patterns, especially those in nature, though her interest in music theory has dulled to the joys of geometry and astronomy. She seems to enjoy standing out in the park as the sun sets, relating her Star Chart to the heavens of Gaia. What could have possibly sparked this?

The garment is cut of a heavy, glossy fabric.
Immediately apparent are three dragons in flashing, sparkling thread,
one in gold, holding a chalice, another in silver, holding a sword,
and a third in black-burgundy, holding a scroll. All around them
in paler gold thread are hundreds of other serpentine dragons,
writhing and twisting around each other as if embroiled in war.
Along the edges of the garment are glyphs in dark red, not
of the Porcelain language or any other that Meirou recognizes.
