Name :: Rioge. (Pronounced - Ree/oh/gay) Nicknames :: - Stage :: Teenager. Race :: Ashe. Gender : Male. DOB :: 24//04//08 Wind :: South - Bringer of warm balmy winds. Believed to be ever changing in mood and mind. Uneasy at times and has a strong affinity towards exotic plants unlike mundane fruits and crops. Roleplay colour :: #3347a8

Appearance :: Rioge's pride and joy is his hair. Silky smooth, long and a radiant shade of blue he'll spend hours combing and admiring it. He has never had any length cut out of it - only the ocassionaly trim to keep it in top condition - and therefore it has reached quite a length; down to his waist. Speckles of gold shimmer in his pale blue eyes and when enchanting people these golden grains glow brightly. Roige has a fairly tanned complexion giving the impression of warmth and richness to him; this tanning also enforces an exotic feel to him and shows that Roige’s past self was from warmer climes. Rioge's wardrobe consists of loose yet noble looking clothes. Normally in sandy colours they are paired with many small acessories from Rioge's 'homeland'. Golden bangles, sacrab rings, and ornate belts; all happily exhibited by the teen. He takes great pride in his past life - consorting with the pharoes and shows it off as much as he can.
Personality : WIP.
Likes :: The colour blue, water, his hair, glamour, himself, looking good, enchanting people. Dislikes :: Oil, getting dirty, rude people.
Background :: The wind blew Rioge’s egg into the Unseelie court, there was a slight confusion over who’s ashes it was created out of but when it was discovered that the Ashe's within the delicate shell were that of a Seelie there was uproar. Luckily Araran stepped forward to be the egg's guardian and swore to bring Rioge up to be a good Unseelie. After hatching and a lot of research, Araran discovered Rioge's past identity. Faaque, a power Egyptian fae. He decided to keep a lot of information away from Rioge to avoid the child from becoming big-headed.

Name :: Araran Egioam. (Pronounced - Ah/rah/ran Eh/gee/oh/am) Nicknames :: Father, Arry. Race :: Faerie. Gender :: Male. DOB :: 28/03/??. Roleplay colour :: #665555 Appearance ::Hair – Tufty chocolate brown, he has slight sideburns but not overly huge. Eyes – Green and cat-like. Piercings – Araran has a piercing in his right ear, a plain wooden peg. Skin Tone – A light even brown, almost like the colour of milky tea. Build – Being an ex-guard to the Queen Araran is evidently very fit. He has a toned, muscular body and is fairly tall, standing at around 5’10”. However due to his injury he obviously hadn’t been able to work out and keep himself as fit as he was before but he is still in very good condition. Other Physical Features - Due to an accident whilst sparring with a Seelie knight Araran lost his left arm (his fighting arm) and was no longer able to continue being a guard. His arm was severed at the elbow, roughly, and he has a stump where his arm used to be. Araran also has some interesting facial features, primarily the 3 ‘spikes’ on each side of his lower jaw. They’re hard to the touch and have a hollow sound to them if you were to knock on them. Personality :: Araran has a strong sense of loyalty to the Unseelie court, he would happily die for his Queen if he needed to. He feels it is his duty to follow orders without hesitation and he does not like to question authority. This does mean that Araran likes to carry out orders that go against his moral standings, for example the use of unnessersary violence, but he will still carry out his orders as instructed. Araran can understand and sympathises with humans and members of the Seelie court. He knows that a large proportion of the human world are trying to make the world a better place by re-cycling or walking instead of taking a car. He also understands that the Seelie want to try and work with humans to try and get a result but when it boils down to it he still follows the Unseelie principles. After loosing his arm in an accident Araran found himself freed from his duties as a soldier and guard, allowing his caring side to come out more. He actually pities anything that has been hurt unnecessarily and has often nursed back animals hurt in road accidents of that get caught in traps even though he gets scorned at by his fellow Unseelies for his Seelie-ish behaviour. Underneath Araran's tough shell he is also a bit of a book worm and used to spend a lot of his time when he was off duty reading books, now that he's no longer a guard he has developed his past time into a new job and is a part time librarian. Likes : Reading, why else would he get a part time job at a library when there were so many other options? Children, surprisingly for a fae Araran actually enjoys the company of children as he enjoys seeing their innocence and take on things. Mead, Araran can tend to be a little too fond of the stuff leading to a bad hangover the next morning. Dislikes : Glamour, he quite literally hates it saying that it gives him a headache when cloaked in glamour and he only uses it when he absolutely has to. Unnecessary violence, he thinks it is absolutely pointless to use aggression if there are other ways of solving a situation. Disrespectful Humans, if he sees a human littering or doing something that isn’t good for the environment it really winds him up. Background : WIP Occupation : Ex-royal guard, now a part time librarian and Rioge’s official carer. Other : -

 Rioge :: "I met him in the forest, but he was an egg. I really liked him though... Maybe it was because he had pretty blue flowers on his shell?" Araran :: "An other Unseelie child. Rioge seemed to like him." Raina Rioge :: "She's really nice! I think she'll make a great moummy for Faustus." Araran :: "Polite, accepting and seems to be one of the nicer vairety of humans. Though I'm curious why another Unseelie egg was given to a mortal - perhaps there is more to her than what can be seen on the surface?" Rioge :: "She seemed nice! I tried to teach her glamour... But she wasn't very good. Her mummy is a human... I wonder if that's why she can't do glamour; Daddy says you have to practice to understand it." Araran :: "The first other Ashe we've met, she seems like a pleasant child. A Seelie though.. She appeared to be incapable of glamour." Shyer GravenRioge :: "She's Aelia's mummy. I didn't talk much to her, but she seems like a nice person." Araran :: "The mortal charged with looking after Aelia. In not overly keen that she's a mortal, but as the saying goes; you can't judge a book by it's cover. (And I should know.. I'm a librarian.)" Rioge :: "I met him at a bakery lesson, he's quite a bit older than me, but I don't mind. He helped me when I had trouble stirring. He's very polite and friendly. I think he'd make a good friend!" Araran :: "I am unsure what to think of this Ashe, he had a bakery lesson with Rioge... I didn't speak to him much but I was wary seeing as he must be a Seelie.." Mireille LemieuxRioge :: "Julien's adopted mother, he was making his cookies to share with her and some friends. I wonder what it is like to have a mother..." Araran :: "I haven't spoken to her enough to make a judgement on her." Rioge :: "I've never met him..." Araran :: "I've heard tell of another Ashe in the Unseelie court that appeared before Rioge... I've never met them though." XeridanRioge :: "He met father once..." Araran :: "An acquaintance from the library. He has agreed to help me research about Ashe and possibly help me with my library duties."

Chapter I - In which Araran saves an egg.
A shudder of excitement ran through the Unseelie court. The earth was giving them another gift; another Ashe would soon join the court. There was a gathering in one of the great halls and purely by coincidence the wind had started. At first nobody noticed it, a gentle breeze, but it soon became stronger. Rushing through the hoard of faeries, tussling hair and tugging at clothes. Araran was in the crowd. He had been one of the first to notice the wind, since when was there wind indoors? And it wasn’t just a normal wind. This wind was warm and almost exotic, carrying the faint scents of spices and foreign fruits. It excited him and made him wary at the same time... What would happen? He hadn’t been present the first time an Ashe had been presented to the court; he had been having his last round of physiotherapy with a doctor. But he’d heard that the wind had been carrying ashes of a previously deceased fae and had turned into an egg.
The wind was reaching its crescendo. A small tornado had formed in the centre of the hall. The Queen Undine was present, standing near the tornado, flanked by her bodyguards and nobles. Only a few months ago Araran would’ve been there with her... He still missed being part of the royal guard. The feeling of responsibility and belonging, now he felt like he was no longer involved, just another spectator waiting to see what would happen.
Araran peered through the crowd at the wind. He could just about see streaks of grey in the maelstrom. Was that the ash of the deceased faerie that was supposedly going to be reborn into an Ashe? Suddenly the ball of spinning wind and ash shrunk, receding into a smaller form. An Egg shaped form. Araran’s breath caught. So the earth really was giving them eggs... There was hope for the fae! He wondered which fae had been reborn into this egg. He knew a fair few of the recently deceased fae... Working as a guard was a dangerous job, as he’d found out all to well himself. Would this egg be one of them?
The Queen spoke. ”The Earth has given us another Ashe. Let us rejoice and be happy! Another Unseelie given back to us by the winds!” The egg quivered and there was a soft whisper, like the wind when moving through the leaves on trees. This was no Unseelie... The wind whispered quietly, yet the message reached the ears of all the fae present in the hall. ”Not... An Unseelie? This Ashe is a Seelie!?” The Queen exclaimed, looking at the small helpless egg with a look of disgust. But no answer was given; the wind had gone leaving the hall with a last breath of exotic scents. This was no Unsealie. There was an awkward and dangerous silence. Not an Unseelie. The egg contained the ashes of a Seelie? Now what would happen? The majority of the Unseelies hated their ‘lighter’ brethren and if someone didn’t do something then the egg would probably get destroyed before it even got a chance to hatch. Already the crowd was pushing and shoving, people screaming in rage. ”Get it!” "Stupid Seelie!” Araran was being crushed forwards with the crowd, he had to try and save the egg. Seelie or not.
”Stop!” Araran yelled, trying to make some of the furious fae around him listen. ”We can’t just kill it because it used to be a Seelie!” A trollish looking fae next to him growled and bared his rotten teeth. ”F’in Seelie lover. Piss off, that thing s’a Seelie through n’ through!” Araran gritted his teeth and attempted not to loose his temper, instead he spoke calmly and authoritively. ”Have you ever heard of the phrase turning over a new leaf? Perhaps, yes, this Ashe used to be a Seelie. But the wind gave this egg to US! Perhaps the child inside that egg is meant to join with us, start anew on the right side. We can’t just condemn it on what it used to be! Give it a chance!” His little heart-filled speech captured a small audience, a dozen or so fae stopped to listen to him. A couple nodded their heads reluctantly in agreement but for the most part he had succeeded in making the crowd angrier. However one, very important, listener was swayed by his words. ”You believe that then? Perhaps it is true… But this egg needs extra care. If you’d be willing to make sure that this Ashe grows up to be a Unseelie then you may keep it and be it’s guardian. Otherwise we shall do as the crowd wants…” He had no idea that he’d been so close to the queen; the crowd must have pushed him further forward than he’d first thought. ”M’lady… I’d be honoured with such a responsibility...” He replied, shocked that the Queen had agreed with his ideas. She smiled, and held out the deep blue egg for him to take. ”Then that is how it shall be. I appoint you as the guardian for this Ashe. May you turn it into a fine Unseelie.” Araran nodded graciously, he would make sure he didn't disapoint her.

Chapter II - In which Araran names the egg.
The egg sat quietly on the table; it’s glossy blue surface glinting in the candlelight. It’d been a couple of days since Araran had saved the egg and the outrage amongst the other Unseelies was starting to die down. At the very least he could go outside of his room without being yelled at for being a ‘Seelie loving little git.’ But he still received a fair amount of evil glares and the occasional growl. He wasn’t going to leave the egg unattended for some time though for fear that a bitter Unseelie would attempt to steal it and destroy it.
Come to think of it Araran really needed to name the egg. It was strange calling it ‘the egg’. You wouldn’t call an unborn child ‘the child’ so it was about time that he put some thought into it and came up with a name for the Ashe. In front of him were a couple of pieces of scraps of paper, on each a name jotted in black ink. Araran had thought up all the possible names that he’d liked to name the Ashe and written them down... The only problem now was that he couldn’t choose which he liked better. He took the nearest scrap; ”Laove.” He read, glancing at the egg, wondering if that name would fit. The egg quivered a little, reacting to his words. Araran smiled. Maybe he should go through all the names and see which the egg reacted most to... It would make the job of picking easier...
”Theon?” The egg stayed motionless except a tiny flicker of its wings. ”Not Theon then.” Araran mumbled, crumpling the paper and throwing it over his shoulder. He went through several others receiving no major reactions from any of them either, little more than a small shudder of wing movement. ”Only one more… You better like it you picky little thing… Rioge?” The reaction to the last name was rather startling; the egg rocked happily, it’s golden demonic wings beating furiously carrying it over to Araran. The small magical cloud that it was cushioned in boiled and swirled as it snuggled into Araran.
”Well… You like Rioge..? I suppose that can be your name then.” he laughed, patting the egg’s shell contently. ”I hope you hatch soon Rioge. Then we can prove them all wrong. You’ll be one of the best Unseelies they’ve ever seen.”

It seems Rioge still enjoys the safety of his protective shell. Being the first Seelie to grace the Unseelie courts as an egg, perhaps he is feeling a bit out of place? Try to make Rioge feel welcome, Unseelie style, by giving him two of the more popular Unseelie toys.

 Chapter III - In which Araran gets Rioge some gifts for when he hatches.
‘Children tend to be very partial to toys and things of similar amusement. If one wants to tempt a child into doing your bidding, whether it be leaving the latch undone so you can raid their barn or getting them to come away with you then a promise of a gift is a good way to bribe them into doing so.’ Araran read the text again… Children liked toys and things that would make them laugh. That’s what the book said. Sure the book probably wasn’t the best book to be consulting, ‘101 tricks to play on Hume’, but he still thought that it was a good idea and had acted on the advice given to him. After all, fae children probably weren’t all that different than human children and they would probably like toys and such just as much.
He inspected the things he had chosen to give Rioge when he hatched from the egg. The first thing that he had selected was a simple stuffed animal. Although there were hardly any children, possibly none at all, in the Unseelie court Rioge knew that all children liked cuddly toys. The toy that he had selected was a cat, knitted out of blue wool. It had long body and long arms, making it look slightly humanoid. He’d acquired it off an old pixie that used to been fond of changeling children...
Araran stood outside the door, pondering if this was a good idea or not. He glanced at the items he held in his hand, a couple of golden coins and a packet of crisps. He was there to try and get advice on child car for when his Ashe hatched; the old woman had experience with children as she'd used to take in changeling children. He hoped that he could convince her into giving him a toy. The problem was that she rarely ventured out of her home and when she did she was normally in a terrible mood. However Araran had a plan. The old crone was rumoured to have an addiction for human food and he had ventured to the human world and had purchased the crisps as a way of bartering with her. He couldn’t understand why she liked their food so much though; compared to fae food it was so disgusting that it was almost unhealthy. But he’d seen stranger addictions in the human world, like those who smoked… It killed their lungs but still they did it.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door lightly, so as not to crush the crisps. Nearly instantaneously he was replied to with a loud shout of: ”Come in!” Araran obeyed and let himself in. The inside of the home was dark and he hesitated before entering. His military persona was telling him that it was unwise to enter area where you couldn’t see properly; you could be ambushed, you could walk into dangerous magic circles, there were so many things that could be dangerous about it. But he held back the impulse to refuse to enter, this was an old woman.. She wouldn’t set traps or attempt to jump him.
"Hello? I'm here to offer you a deal." There was a sound from the corner of the room, an exhalation of breath, and Araran turned to look. In the dim light he could just about make out the form of the old fae. "What kind of deal?" She asked, raising a hand and snapping her fingers. A spark flared off them and bundled itself into a small flame, hovering above her palm, illuminating her and her surroundings. And what creepy surrounding they were. She appeared to be sitting in a large nest of toys. Mostly animal-like in shape and in a variety of colours. They were obviously ancient as a thick layer of dust and cobwebs blanketed them.
"I need a toy. Don't ask me why but I need one... And I heard, correctly, that you have them in abundance." The crone cackled in amusement and held out her other hand, the one not cupping a flame, and replied, "All these toys are hand made. You understand? That means a hefty price. It's been a long time since anyone came to me for toys... So I'll charge you higher... Let say... 20 gold pieces." Araran remained stony faced, he'd expected her to charge more than they were worth and that's why he'd made his plan. The crone no longer could go to the human world, an old fae like her would never be able to sustain a glamour in such an iron filled environment and so he would be her only possible supplier of human food, just like she was his only supplier of toys.
"And if I threw these into the deal?" he asked, quite literally throwing the crisps at her. She examined them closely and Araran noticed that she was drooling slightly. He grinned inwardly, he knew it would work. Bribes were a brilliant tool in bartering. "Take one, go on. This is payment enough... Now be quick for I finish these and change my mind." She exclaimed, tearing open the packaging and stuffing some crisps into her mouth. He moved to the pile and snatched up a toy without really looking and made a swift retreat away from the gross old woman.
The second of the gifts that Araran had got was more unusual. The will o’ the wisp hung in the air above the cat, its eyes were closed, it’s face in a dreamy relaxed expression. Will o’ the wisps had become popular pets for the Unseelies in recent times. They used to be left in the wild, near swampy and marshy areas were foolish humans would follow their glow into the boggy ground where they would sink and die. However due to pollution and the destruction of their natural habitat the will o’ the wisp no longer flourished in the wild. They made good pets though; they were small, no bigger than a basketball. They didn’t eat much, all they need is a bit of coal every now and then to keep their internal flames burning. They gave out a nice glow that Araran thought would be perfect as a night light for Rioge if the ash ever got afraid of the dark. The will o’ the wisp that Araran had got was a mottled green colour, the way that the light of it’s flame shone through the skin reminded Araran of sunlight going through the canopy of leaves in spring.
Overall Araran was quite pleased with his choice of gifts for the Ashe. He was sure that they were nice and would appeal to the child when he hatched, and secretly hoped that if Rioge could understand him that the child might be tempted to leave his egg for such inviting gifts.

Chapter IV – In which Rioge hatches.
It was finally here. Rioge was hatching. Araran had been waiting for the egg to hatch since more signs of life had been coming from the egg. More frequent movement, occasional tapping on the inside of the shell, even the wings were more active, occasionally flapping rapidly and lifting the egg off the surface it was resting on. He’d made a nest for Rioge’s egg, wrapping it with blankets so if the movements got too violent no damage would be done.
The gifts that Araran had got were nearby, the cat was on the table nearby, ready to be given to the Ashe as he emerged and the will ‘o’ the wisps was hovering in the corner of the room, it’s flame’s dimly lighting the room along with a couple of flickering candles. Araran sat tensley by the egg, his hand resting on it’s surface feeling the child inside kicking against the shell, trying to get out. ”Come on Rioge, I’m waiting for you.” He paused and grinned, ”and so are your presents!”
The egg shook happily as the Ashe inside tried even harder to get out, eager to meet their father, who was also bearing gifts! Araran laughed and fetched a sheet to wrap Rioge in when he hatched, he would be naked after all.
In the brief period that Araran was away the shell split, a fine trickle of ash came out followed by a small groping hand. At his return Araran found the naked Ashe clinging contently to the blue cat toy. His face buried in the kitted chest. Araran was astonished and angry with himself. He’d missed the birth of his son! But at the same time he was relieved that Rioge had managed to hatch successfully and without any obvious problems. The small child was looking intently at the toy, peering into the button eyes. "Daa?" He cooed, curling his small fingers around the cat's ears. Araran winced, obviously Rioge had mistaken the cat to be him.. He sidled over to the table and lowered himself so he could look face to face with his child.
"Rioge. I'm your father." he murmured. Rioge blinked and glanced at him, his inquisitive blue eyes examining his face. They were amazing, his eyes, deep blue with flecks of gold swimming about in them, like light reflecting off water. He let go of the toy and stumbled across the table, arms open wide; readying for a hug from his father. "Daaaaa!"

Chapter V - In which Rioge's past life is revealed.
The papers were scattered disorderly around him as Araran frantically scan read the tome open in front of him. He traced the ancient hand written words with a finger and his eyes widened. He grabbed a nearby scroll and forced it open, nearly tearing it. Could this be it? Had he found what he’d been searching for? Had the months of hard work and endless trawling through the libraries extensive resources finally paid off… Was this who Rioge had been in his past life?
The tome in question was one concerning river fae. Araran had examined it simply on a slight hunch that Rioge might have had a past to do with rivers; after all.. He loved water and although it was unknown whether such things could be passed on from a former life it was worth checking out.
And so, after reading about two thirds of the way into the dusty book Araran had struck gold. He’d first realised the potential of a match when the book talked about a certain fae who had lived within Egypt – serving the Pharaohs and being treated like a king. Rioge had always felt a link with the exotic; the wind that he’d been delivered on was infamous for it’s warmth and hints of far away lands. And marks upon him lead even closer to Egypt, his eye markings for example. But the hunch had been confirmed when the article spoke of the fae’s demise. He’d died removing oil from the river Nile – Rioge was scared senseless by even the smallest amount of oil.
He held the scroll and examined it. On it was painted a quick depiction of what Rioge had looked like as an egg – he had drawn it in case important clues lay in the appearance of the egg and he wouldn’t be able to look once Rioge had hatched. The marking on the egg was indeed an important clue.
It was Faaque's seal.
Rioge had been Faaque.
It was quite a shock to Araran. Faaque was an extremely high-ranking Seelie, in charge of looking after the whole of the Nile. Was his little boy really the reincarnation of such a powerful fae? At the very least he should tell Rioge… He’d just found out the peace of information they’d been looking for since the wind had whispered a clue of his past.
But how could you tell a child such controversial information?
Araran ran a hand through his hair; what to do, what to do? He couldn't think of a way to tell Rioge - you couldn't just walk up to a child and come out with the fact they used to be about the most powerful fae in the whole of Egypt. He would've have to be vauge with the details - ease Rioge into his past life; maybe just a name for now would do?
He sighed and closed the book, memorising the page number and placing it back on the shelf; making sure that he put it in an easy to remember spot. Rioge would be at home, probably amusing himself with his toys. He would be ecstatic to find out more about his past life. A smile played over the fae's lips. It would be nice to finally know more about Rioge. After all the hard work and searching they finally had a result. Together they would become great, perhaps even as great as Rioge had been in his past life. Only this time as an Unseelie.
~~~
"Daddy?"
Rioge's voice drifted from the living room in response to the sound of the door opening.
"Yes Rioge, it's me."
The Ashe's eyes lit up. He loved presents! His adopted father had returned from work! Squeaking with excitement he bolted through the house to greet Araran. He didn't notice the odd looks from the older fae, or the slight sense of awe that he had as he explained that he had discovered the name of his past self.. Faaque.
Giggling with glee he continued on his daily life almost as if nothing had happened... Whilst Araran watched and fretted.
