The autumn leaves spiraled down from the branches, falling through the air like a flurry of flames. The air was crisp and each breath formed as a small cloud of mist. The seasons were changing, the exuberant summer giving way to the sombre winter. The very Earth seemed to be settling down for the colder months, the animals starting to prepare for hibernation. A V formation of geese flew overhead as the Ashe moved gracefully through the park.

He had changed rapidly over the last few weeks, he was growing up. His blue eyes surveyed all with a cool glance. He was dressed in a long coat, a silken brown scarf wrapped around his neck - the colder weather made him uncomfortable and much to his distaste he had to wrap up warm to avoid illness. He flicked his head and pushed a lock of blue hair out of his eyes. (Though of course to mortal eyes the silken strands would appear a mundane brown.)

Rioge stared around, he had gone for a morning stroll in the park. Now he was near the edge, he could see the entrance and the busy road beyond it. There was a portable cafe van parked just inside where early morning joggers and such could buy a nice warm cup of tea. He sighed. Mortals were so dull. Nobody around here held any interest to him. But then again, he had been into the park and town before and had bumped into Ashe when he was a child... Perhaps he would do so again today...

User ImageA Great Dane, black as midnight, came bounding up the sidewalk to the entrance of the park. The creature gave a mighty bark into the cold morning air as he reached the end of his leash. Wagging tail flung high, Atticus strained against the collar that held him as he urged his master to hurry in his jogging pace. The romp in the park had recently become a morning routine for the big dog and he was eager to be free of his confines to go run about in the open grass of the local park.

The golden haired Ashe laughed gaily at his companion’s plaintive whining for freedom. The laugh hung on the air like some shimmering wish. Atticus wasn’t the only one to turn and look at Toulouse as he laughed. The eyes of men and women alike swiveled so that they rested in curiosity and envy on the handsome boy in the baggy caduceus sweatshirt. There was something about him that spoke of long summer nights beneath the full moon and stars. The Ashe reminded the onlookers of youth long past and love lost. There was almost a plaintive sigh from the crowd around the boy. A few people even reached out longingly to touch him.

As if sensing the sudden feeling of melancholy, Toulouse turned his face from the street and the people. He dampened his aura and features until they were so nondescript and ugly that he had all but disappeared from public view. It seemed that as he grew, normal humans were watching him more and more. He didn’t like it.

It was in this hideous guise that the golden teen entered the park. With hunched shoulders, Toulouse followed the now unleashed Atticus, who was romping playfully a few yards ahead, unaware of his master‘s sadness.

User ImageA hunched figure walked through the park's entrance, posture slumped, their appearance haggard and unattractive. In their hand was a lead, keeping an excitable black dog from bounding away. Rioge hardly looked twice as he surveyed the scene - assuming them to be just another mortal, and nothing more than an eyesore for him.

He sighed and cupped his hands, blowing into them to warm them up.

"Why must it be so cold?" He mused, remembering fondly the summer months that he had been born into - the warm evening he had spent in this very park with Araran, watching the mortals go to an fro. He knew that summer would return next year, but it didn't prevent him from continuing to complain about the chilly weather. Recently, as the childlike love of everything died off, he had been expressing his distaste of things much more frequently. He had even scorned Araran the other day for wearing a top for three days running, complaining that it was filthy and unhygienic.

Moving forwards, his walk graceful and flowing, he went towards the van. The greasy bacon baps were not what he wanted, he turned his nose up at that variety of mortal foods. (In Fact he would turn his nose up at any mortal cuisine that was not have at least a michelin star quality.) He intended to acquire a hot drink, to hold and warm his hands and perhaps, if he became thirsty enough, to sip at.

Before he reached the van he was distracted. Although earlier he had not taken a second glance at the ugly mortal with the dog, up close he was much more intriguing. About his form was a shimmer of illusion, and like Rioge was looking through water he could determine a more attractive appearance underneath.

"What a lovely dog." He said, waving a hand in the direction of the hound whose tail was wagging furiously. His own glamour was weaker than this boys, any fae and probably magically attuned humans, would see through it with ease and clarity. He smiled warmly at the boy, assuming he would see the inhuman blue hair and come to the correct assumption that he wasn't mortal.

User ImageInstinctively, Atticus seemed to know that he was being admired by someone other than his master. With ears perked and tail happily erect, he lumbered over to give the stranger’s feet a polite sniff before licking his hand in greeting. If anything, the Dane was very well trained and never jumped on anyone. Bark and lick yes, but never jump.

Toulouse was almost completely oblivious to the boy with the hidden blue hair. He had his magical shields up so tight that he had successfully repelled any other magical aura. The golden, now sallow haired, teen would have walked straight past the other boy if only he had not spoken out. As it was, ‘lovely’ and ‘dog’ said in the same sentence about Atticus sent the animal careening to the source of praise. One moment the dog was just ahead of Toulouse, then the next not there at all. The creature seemed to have a magic all his own.

The young Ashe gave a cry of surprise as he watched in horror as Atticus made himself perfectly acquainted with the well dressed stranger. Now that Toulouse’s eyes were on the boy, he could see, as if through a light haze, that the brown hair was actually a very vibrant blue of fresh water. It shimmered as if it was actually the very water that it mimicked. Glamour, Toulouse thought. It seemed that one couldn’t go outdoors anymore without running into someone of the Courts. Just perfect.

Head still bent, Toulouse added another layer of glamour, giving the impression that pock marks marred his smooth features in great pits. He wasn’t sure if this person who seemed so friendly with his dog could see through the magic or not. Toulouse was unsure if this new Fae meant him harm or not. Most, Unseelie or otherwise, were generally on the look out for him because of the price that the Seelie queen had set on his head. Better to be safe, just in case.

Glamour firmly in place, Toulouse looked at the blue haired boy, returning the warm smile he received with a suspicious frown. “I suppose he is lovely if you like great drooling brutes.” Toulouse replied carefully while issuing to Atticus who returned to his master’s side at once with a happy bark.

Tea’s good there.” Toulouse added nodding towards the portable van in what he hoped was a slightly conversational tone. He felt it rude to just walk away, even if the boy in front of him was a suspicious Fae.

She had been allowed to venture off on her own this time, the young child now no longer looking so small. She had been aging rapidly over time, almost like with each night that passed a month or two would change inside her body. It had only been yet a while since Pasayo had first come from her egg, hardly more than a few months in the time of Earth, yet the girl who had waddled around as toddler now stood tall as a child approaching an age closer to eight or nine.

Her Master was somewhere nearby, both of them actually as it had been a family outing or sorts with just the three of them since the other three in the house could not/did not want to venture out for various reasons, and Pasayo found herself walking along the trails of the park with a newer respect for things.

". . . It is still so bright out here."

She had to stop and rub her eyes even against the darkness and shade provided by the sunglasses perched on her nose and the parasol over her head, and for a moment Pasayo wondered if it would have been better for her to have stayed home as well. The sun hurt entirely too much even though there was more protection and she could endure the ache that crept upon her.

She stood rubbing her face so unaware that only a few feet away were two that were like her, two she knew.

User ImageRioge patted the lsathering dog once on the head before retracting his hand swiftly before he could get bitten or licked. Who knew what kind of germs lurked within the creatures saliva? He certainly did not want them getting all over his immaculate hands. Smiling politely at the teen's comment about the dog he replied; "I have never had any large pets of my own, but I often see people walking dogs in this park. Your dog seems especially happy, despite the drool."

The boy had evidently noticed Rioge's own faerie features and as a response had tightered his own glamour, wrapping himself in further illusions of ugliness. Rioge mused over this as he nodded to the boy's mention of the quality of the tea. Perhaps he had some sort of disfiguration underneath his glamour that marred his faerie beauty.. Rioge had not noticed it when observing him briefly through the thinner glamour but now he was certainly intreguied by the blonde haired youth even further.

He turned to go to order his cup of tea from the van, dipping his hand into his pocket to pull out the money he would use to pay. He was however distracted from this action when he saw yet another unusual figure approaching him. Her skin was black as pitch and her hair was a rather vibrant bubblegum pink. Certainly not human, and something about her felt awefully familiar.

Digging through his childhood memories of Ashe that he'd met he placed where he recognised her from. Once he and Araran had bumped into Houkan, a polite kind young man who had allowed Rioge to hold the egg under his charge. This Ashe must've hatched from that bizzare egg. He examined the girl, who was hiding beneath a parasol and squinting through dark glasses.

"Hello, young girl. I believe we have met before. Though you might not remember it." A twitch of disgust rose in mind as he noticed the oddly gross markings on the child's face, like stitches across her mouth. But he contained the feeling and kept a polite front - not everyone could be as beautiful as him..

User ImageToulouse straightened up immediately, his posing as a slouchy mortal all but lost. He still held his glamour firmly in place however. The Ashe was torn between dropping his disguise for Pasayo and keeping it up for the strange blue haired stranger. Toulouse watched as the little girl, now seeming to have grown quite a lot, was blinking her eyes in her characteristic manner. He paused, unsure if he should go to her in his current state. The golden teen wanted to speak with Pasayo but didn’t was too suspicious to make a decision.

The black Dane made the decision for his master. Just like the blue haired boy before, Atticus bound up to Pasayo giving her a friendly chuff in the face. The dog didn’t run into the little girl, but merely sat down in front of her as if waiting for the lonely place behind his ear to be scratched. Granted, Atticus was still taller than Pasayo even when sitting down and the girl probably wouldn’t be able to reach the itchy ear.

Atticus you fool.” Toulouse moaned as he went to give the dog the lovingly rough pet that he wanted. The Dane just woofed happily. “I’m sorry Pasayo. He’s such a goof.” The golden Ashe smiled warmly at the little girl and even through his glamour, his handsome smile shone through like a ray of light.

It seemed that the stranger knew Pasayo somehow and Toulouse felt a quick stab of jealously before squashing the feeling. Why wouldn’t others know Pasayo? It was only natural that the Fae gravitated towards each other.

Toulouse sighed, turning his back completely on the other boy while facing Pasayo fully. The Ashe supposed it was okay to drop his glamour now that it was apparent that the blue-haired boy knew Pasayo or at least something about her. The boy must be okay if Piero let him anywhere near the little girl. Toulouse trusted the older man’s judgment implicitly.

So, with these thoughts in mind, the glamour around the golden sidhe was dropped completely. It was as if a curtain had been drawn back, the comparison between Toulouse’s ugly and beautiful forms striking. His finely curved scarlet lips were revealed along with frank blue eyes peaking out from behind crisp golden hair. Toulouse was beautifully handsome like any royal sidhe should be yet he seemed unaware of this as he smiled unfalteringly at Pasayo.

User ImageThe strange glamoured boy's dog bounded towards the girl, sitting in front of her, tounge lolling. Rioge sniffed haughtily at the boys lack of control over the dog. He had said himself that the beast was a 'drooling brute'. Surely if that was the case, he should keep a tighter rein on the dog and not allow it to bound up to small girls. However it seemed that the dog meant to harm and Rioge did not say anything, there seemed to be no point in aggravating the boy, who already seemed to be nervous towards Rioge for reasons he could not determine yet.

As the other teen recognised the girl he seemed to have a moment of indecision before he removed his glamour. It slipped off him and Rioge wondered why he had been so heavily cloaked to begin with. It was like a masterpiece being unveiled. Underneath the drab and unattractive glamour was a golden haired handsome fae. His smile radiated warmth like a summer sun and Rioge couldn't help but regard the teenagers features, there was something noble about him that Rioge respected and admired.

In fact, a nagging voice in the back of his mind started to complain about the boy's radiant appearance. It was almost wonderful enough to challenge his own beauty. Though they were so very different, the boys fair skin and light hair contrasted with his own tanned complexion and vibrant flowing blue locks.. He still felt a pang of annoyance and slight jealousy. Some of these feelings slipped through to his face, and he had to tear his attention away from the teen and back onto the child. Waiting for a responce.

"Ah...you know me?"

Pasayo had looked up when Rioge had approached her, her eyes peering out from behind sunglasses that had slid down her nose as she made efforts with rubbing to alleviate the pain. Now that her glasses were down it was easier to also see the large white marks that crossed over her eyes with literal 'x' marks, and as she spoke the hatches across her face seemed to move open and shut with her.

The child was unskilled in glamour like the teen before her, she did not even know what glamour was, so she was forced to keep her darkened appearance event when out in public, her hair color as well. It did not matter to her so much as the eyes of the people that saw here quickly turned away once her markings came into view, and usually she was in the company of Piero or Houkan who stood out just as much as she, if not just a little less. Today she was dressed in a simple gown and was wearing a nice over coat, though all were still in the Victorian fashion.

"I am sorry, but I...do not quite recall you. You feel familiar to me as well though, like I should know who you-"

The child was cut off as a large dog bounded in front of her and sat himself down, still towering despite how much bigger Pasayo had become. She let out a mild shriek that caught itself in her throat before it had a chance to fully escape, a gloved hand over her lips in order to give her more insurance against such un-ladylike behavior. She was about to say something else when a voice she knew more than this feeling for a stranger greeted her, and Pasayo's face broke out into a grin as the now-unglamoured youth came over to her.

"Toulouse! Is this beast yours?"

User ImageToulouse was completely and blissfully unaware of the thoughts that flitted across the other boy’s face. His attention was completely on Pasayo now and for the moment, Toulouse ignored the blue haired boy.

Of course he is mine duckie. Who else would he belong to?” Toulouse replied to Pasayo, giving the characteristic toss of his golden head. “Don’t worry, he’s perfectly harmless.” The teen patted Atticus on the top of the head who licked the boy's chin in turn. Toulouse laughed gaily again at the dog’s affection. It was a genuinely happy laugh that sounds like the purity of a summer’s day. Ever since he had gotten Atticus, the boy had seemed more happy, more at ease. The animal just made him feel so much lighter in spirit. Toulouse had not been so joyful of life in such a long time.

The Ashe gave another winning smile at Pasayo. In that moment, Toulouse just positively radiated sunshine and happiness. His aura was getting away from him and the people in the vicinity found themselves suddenly smiling for no reason at all. Realizing this, Toulouse took a deep breath steadying himself. His magic was dampened like the sun setting to twilight. It was as if a switch had suddenly and easily been switched off. It was never good to let himself spread all over the unwitting mortals.

With a more serious and subdued air, Toulouse sat down on the grass knoll next to Atticus, turning to face the blue haired boy. “How do you know Pasayo?” Toulouse queried in a neutral voice, the petal of his mouth wilting into a frowning line. Now that he was more focused, the teen could feel power radiating of the other boy in fine waves. The unfamiliar auru washed over his skin like a million marching ants. The magic was pervasive…almost…Toulouse was suddenly aware that he was in the precence of an Unseelie sidhe.

The golden teen merely kept his face blank as he furiously thought of a way to get him and Pasayo away as quickly as possible without rousing suspicion in the Unseelie.

User ImageStartled by the girl's eyes, shocking pink with scar-like 'X's. He lifted his hand to his mouth to suppress his shock before recovering and regaining his polite expression. "I do believe I met you whilst I was a child myself, and you were still an egg." He replied, gesturing to her guardian's. "Houkan was the man in charge of your egg at the time. We had a rather delightful chance meeting and had tea together in the local tea house." He continued, remembering how the man had accidentally knocked him and the polite yet slightly tense conversation Houkan and Araran had over tea, whilst he had held Pasayo's (the boy had called her that) egg.

He turned to the boy who Pasayo had named Toulouse. "You two are already acquainted? She knows your name, and you know hers." He paused, yet not waiting for a reply, but rather just to quickly analyse the situation to himself. "I feel that it is only right that I introduce myself too. I am Rioge, it is a pleasure to meet you again Pasayo, and to meet you also Toulouse."

The boy's golden smile that had been present only moments ago seemed to have vanished, like the sun behind a cloud. He decided to buy his tea, and allow the pair to get aquainted again. He also felt he needed a break from those haunted pink eyes. Any longer under the creepy girls gaze and he really wouldn''t be able to supress his dislike. "I shall quickly buy some tea, wait for me to return?" The request, though posed as a question, was more of a statement or command. A glitter of gold sparkled in his eyes and his power of persuasion backed up the polite request - not s much that it was a command that coudn't be ignored but it certainly would make it more influencial to the weak minded*.

[ *not implying that either of your characters are weak minded... In fact, they're both quite the opposite.

plus; Rioge is a sidhe! 8D yay! ]
PostPosted: Wed Oct 22, 2008 4:41 pm

A polite bow came at the end of Rioge's explanation on how they met, the small child a blurry of nerves as she felt she had messed up somewhere along the way due to some unforeseen carelessness.

"Oh, so you know Master Houkan as well, and you knew me as an egg? I am sorry then for not greeting you properly again as old acquaintances should."

Pasayo was doing her best to keep her conversations moving with both older gentlemen, a little unwilling to be rude and stop with either one. While she had been even more confused at first thanks to Rioge's strange motion of covering his mouth when he saw her eyes she felt even more interested at the 'Atticus' that was before her.

She had never seen a dog other than the times one or two came on the television program she might have been watching, but other than that she had only a faint idea of what they actually were. Houkan had said they were living creatures called 'animals' and as such had become 'pets' to many others, which only added to her confusion when she had remarked that Dusk was a sheep-like being and was told he was not a pet. So much she did not understand.

"Toulouse, I-"

She started to speak again when her head suddenly felt strange, like there was some kind of pressure being put into it, and she could only dumbly nod to Rioge's suggestion of staying and waiting. More or less she had felt it only as a suggestion and could have walked off if she had wished, though since Toulouse did not seem to be moving she felt it would be in her best interest to remain at his side. After all, he had done some amazing things with his appearance in a short amount of time.

"Toulouse, what was it that you did to make yourself look so...different?"

User ImageThe glamoured Fae’s expression was not missed by Toulouse, who looked at the Unseelie with his own form of disgust. What right had the sidhe to look at Pasayo in such a way? The little girl didn’t deserve such a look. The golden Ashe was suddenly very angry and when the blue-haired boy introduced himself as Rioge, Toulouse merely scowled, just trying to keep his tongue in his head. Oh there was so much Toulouse wanted to say to the pompous Unseelie!

Charmed I’m sure.” Toulouse replied finally when he thought that he could be civil. The teen was happy that his comment had come out airily, not showing any of his growing dislike. It was not like Toulouse to judge and dislike a person so quickly but there was just something about Rioge’s high mannered way…maybe it was because the boy was Unseelie. Yes, that had to be it. The dislike must just be left over from his old prejudices. Toulouse took a deep breath and firmly decided he would give Rioge a chance even if he was Unseelie.

Toulouse’s resolve to be nice to Rioge lasted for maybe a second until the Unseelie’s persuasive powers washed over him like a light rain. The magic was so soft and subtle that Toulouse would not have even noticed it if he had not already been paying close attention to Rioge. The boy’s aura was so swaying over his own that Toulouse even felt the compulsion to sit and wait for Rioge to return. The golden teen sucked in his breath quickly in an almost-growl as he shook off Rioge’s power as if it were some bit of cobweb that had ensnared him. What if this was only a light dose of the Unseelie’s magic? How much more powerful could he be?

Toulouse scooted closer to Pasayo, protectively wrapping an arm around the little girl’s waist so that she was made to lean slightly against the line of his sitting form. The golden Ashe’s eyes followed Rioge’s every step to the portable van like the gaze of a stalking cat. Although Rioge could be potentially dangerous, Toulouse was nonetheless highly intrigued and had no intention of leaving until he was sure that the other teen was no threat to Pasayo or any other Seelie.

It was glamour I was wearing Pasayo. It‘s a type of personal magic. You have it too I‘m sure.” Toulouse replied while petting a quietly growling Atticus with his free hand. It was as if the dog was picking up on his master’s negative emotions. “Be wary of Rioge. All is not what is seems. Do not be so quick to befriend him.” The blond all but whispered in utter seriousness, leaning more against the dark girl while glaring just a little bit at the back of Rioge’s head.

How very curious the Unseelie was.

User ImageThe mortal who served Rioge blinked rapidly as she was taken aback by her customer's feminine yet devilishly beautiful appearance. "Yes sir?" She asked, wondering what possible thing this outstanding man could want to buy from her. Surely he wouldn't want one of their grotty bacon buns or sausage sandwiches that practically dripped grease.. He looked the type to only be satisfied by high-class food, or coffee made from the highest quality crushed coffee beans. However her thoughts were proved wrong as he pointed, with one elegant finger, at the menu hanging behind her.

"A cup of tea, if you would be so kind." He smiled at her and the girl nearly melted with adoration for the stunning stranger. If he had requested to marry her and sweep her away to his castle she would've gone without a seconds hesitation, however, such a request did not come and she had to make do with simply providing him with a cup of steaming hot tea.

"Thank you." Rioge turned and his face fell from a polite look of appreciation to a slight sneer. The girl had not been the prettiest of mortals, her face was clustered with pimples and her hair was almost as greasy as the food she sold.. But any normal person would feel at least a little bit warmed at the thought of someone obviously having a crush on them so instantaneously. But Rioge was instead disgusted by the idea and returned to the other Ashe as quickly as possible.

He noticed a look in Toulouse's eyes just before he rejoined them that showed that the golden teen seemed to hold something against him. Rioge frowned slightly, creasing his perfect face as he thought of what it could be.. He hadn't done anything wrong as far as he was aware. Except perhaps that the boy had felt and recognised the hint of enchantment that Rioge had cast. But he felt that if that was the case, Toulouse should be in awe, rather than annoyance. After all, it was rare for a fae to be able to enchant with success.

"A glamour? It is a type of magic that you say I can perform as well?"

Pasayo sounded incredulous to what Toulouse was telling her, her time taking to respond so long that she only answered as Rioge had come back with his tea. It was only now that what felt like a fog was clearing from her mind and she was given the chance to think freely again, the ache from what she did not know to be an enchantment leaving her behind.

"Something in the way of magic seems beyond me, both of my Masters have said that I do not seem the type to attract anything other than shadows and dust. Whatever that should mean."
