History:
Taken from Meepfur's description of the situation in the RP Contest
Erzebet, the mommy dearest. To her, other creatures are little more than playthings for her delight; sometimes she'll play at getting along, at least for awhile, and other times she'll be outright hostile. More than anything, she delights in the pain and fear of others. It doesn't matter who or what they are - family, prey animals, fellow predators. If she can bring it down, it's fair game, and whatever it is, she usually eats it when she's done. That is exactly what she did to the unsuspecting rogue who fathered her cubs.

Erze hadn't planned on getting pregnant, but decided to go along with it, like just another game. The game continued for awhile after the birth of her three cubs - two boys and a girl. She wasn't a particularly attentive mother, and didn't even bother to give them names, but she did do everything essential to keeping them alive. Still, she wasn't nice, either...she often poked and prodded at them to see how they might react, batted them around a little. If they bled as a result, which they usually did on a daily basis, she simply licked it away. It was the closest to a grooming they ever got.

By the time they were weaned, Erze was growing bored with them, and so came the inevitable: she killed them - two of them, anyway. One managed to crawl away, and with two dying cubs to occupy her, she hardly even noticed, and certainly didn't care.

RP Contest Entry:

Before the fragile spring of sanity jumped out of the gears of Erze's mind, Kokukuo was protective of his siblings, very protective and he was the mastermind of their daily survival tactics. He was smart, but it was forced since it was the only way that they could live to the next day. It became a part of him. By putting their heads together, the young threesome were able to escape the worst of their mother's violently bipolar personality. However, if something went wrong, Kokukuo wouldn't hesitate to try and push himself "by incident" in the path of his mother's rage if his brother or sister were to be harmed so that he would take the hurt and not them. Unfortunately for him, even after the slaughter of his siblings, Kokukuo's sense of determined protection stayed with him.

And it was this need to protect his brother and sister, this love, that drove him mad.

The young cub was...Haunted. In fact, that's a perfect word to describe what happened to poor Kokukuo. He was haunted and it clouded his vision with hazy hallucinations and the line between reality and fantasy became blurred. Little things of no importance amused him and he would do strange things without explanations. His personality became fragile, warped, and sensitive, but definitely chaotically violent and strange. Events that only happened in dreams were a part of his past, things that really occurred were his nightmares and they all melted together to form a single confused perception:

His siblings were still out there.

That's what Kokukuo believed. That's what Kokukuo lived for. He was searching for his brother and sister, the ones who had somehow miraculously escaped the heavy taloned paws of his mother. They had been faking dead and now it was up to him, the glue that held the sibling band of three together, to find them again!

Any who dared fight and argue his claim would spark the rage of his mother that had been hidden deep inside of him. It had been imprinted in him like the scars that seared his back. At a single precarious word, Kokukuo would snap into a violent monster far different than the distracted, awkward, independent lion that was searching for his dead siblings. Any who tried to comfort him, challenge his claims, or tried to help him would bring out the Hyde in his Jekyll.

One can say that he was traumatized. Other would claim that something broke inside him and he could never really work properly again afterwards. Then others who were scared feared that he inherited the spirit of his mother's bloodthirsty rage. But no one really knew for sure.

Only the future can reveal that.

WARNING: Graphic violence and description.

Cold.

It was cold every night. I'm The three squirming cubs would tuck themselves into one mass of furred being. Their young bodies demanded a warmth that was never given to them. Nothing they needed was ever given to them. They scared received everything they didn't want. So when they mewled for heat and received none, it was up to their small bodies to crawl into one form we and use their scratched limbs as blankets and bruised backs as pillows.

All of young Kokukuo's thoughts were on his brother and sister. All their thoughts were on have young Kokukuo...Whispering to..."I love you..."

They survived as one.

...Warm...?

Why was it warm? get There was no point in his young memory that Koku remembered being warm at night. Well, warm from what his siblings could manage away but never warm where he was...Well, warm. Lifting his stark white head, Kokukuo blinked the bleary sleep from his eyes...And...Blood...? In confused shock, Kokukuo pushed his thin legs against the ground and found that there was a before heavy weight lying upon him. He was trapped and he gave another strong push of his legs. At his movement, blood shook into red rain off his milky white fur, splattering like cruel laughter against the dirt. His heart beat wildly in his chest like the paws of a running lion against a dry something earth. Slowly, he swiveled his head over his shoulder to see what was holding him down and giving him so much warmth.

His saliva terrible evaporated.

"Sister...?"

It was her. Her limp young body was twisted out of shape and happens laid over his like some sort of sick fur blanket. Her throat had been torn out, and her warm lifeblood had been spilling over his albino body. That's what she's was so hot! Kokukuo's mouth dropped at the sight and he felt something in his entire body stiffen and grow so incredibly numb that he felt a burning choler rise been. Slowly, as small leaping hiccups made his body convulse, Kokukuo wedged so himself free from underneath her body. Her mangled corpse rolled lifelessly onto the dirt. The shaking young lion watched for a moment in absolute horror. quiet That was his sister...She was...Not moving...Who...? Her ears were torn as if someone who had been playfully biting them forgot how sharp her teeth were and her once soft fur was tussled and dirtied, matted with warm clumps of drying blood. Confusion raced through his head like wildfire and he felt his eyes twitch without his control as if the very sight was like an ice storm to his eyes. His sister's gaping jaw hung slack in a silent scream as if trying to tell him some warning Any...screaming...shrieking...

"GET OUT OF HERE!"

Kokukuo snapped his head up day just in time to see his young brother scrambling wildly to him, his eyes wild with fright and his stout limbs flailing with panic. There was a terrible hulking figure running just behind him, she's white and black furred against the dim gleam of weeping stars. Kokukuo only had a moment before he felt his brother crash into him, bite into the extra skin in the back of his neck in order to drag him away from the nightmarish hulking beast going of white and black. Stupidly, Kuko tried to rip himself free of his brother's panicking grip. His eyes were focused on his sister's mangled body, still gazing at him with those eyes large enough to hold an entire void of nothing.

"Brother, we can't leave her like this!" Kokukuo growled, his voice torn in to a hoarse corpse of what it once was, ballooned and stretched with anguish so that it was broken with grief. The colossal monster was just a couple yards. She'd be upon them at any minute!

SNAP.

His younger brother's voice cracked with fear through his clamp on Koku's fur. His eyes were trained on the lumbering slick figure and he gave another yank with his teeth on his brother's neck, jerking him away from the dead sister. His breath was wheezing in and out of his throat so much that it sounded like it hurt. His grip and his body, much like his older albino brother's, was weak and quivering with an inexplicable fear, "Kokukuo, don't be an idiot," he begged, "It's too late for her! Let's go, please, let's GO!"

A heavy pain speared through Kokukuo's chest as he finally let himself succumb to his younger brother's insistent and weak yanks of the teeth. Just as the white beast's paws skidded against the dirt, the two brothers slipped clumsily into the dry overgrown field of thorn infested bushes. Like sharpened claws of a nightmare, the bushes snatched and snagged against the thin fur of the little lions that tumbled through it's tangles. Not one yelp or mewl of pain escaped the jaws of either cub, although it wouldn't have done any harm since they were already making a terrible amount of noise with their little bodies crashing through the branches. Snapping, breaking, tearing...RUNNING for their very LIVES.

Behind them, they could hear the soggy rip and snap as their very own mother tore apart the rest of her dead child. Food was scarce in this region...And there was no generosity for the vultures, only self preservation. That is why there was nothing left of the little cub's body for the vultures to find hours later.

Unfortunately for the little cubs that just scrambled out of the dry bush tangle, their beady eyes of fright and terror searching desperately for someplace to hide...Their mother was a fast eater.

It was just when the brothers were scrambling along the edge of a ravine that the white beast appeared again. His eyes were bulging with a mad lust, focusing intently on the two little bodies that skidded to a halt before her. As if to mock them, Kokukuo and his young brother watched in horror as she wiped her mouth with the back of her reddened paw, leaving a red smear along the length of her arm.

"What have you done?!" Kokukuo challenged, his voice peaking with fright and anger. He wanted an explanation! There had to be some reason to justify why she had done this, turned against them so suddenly, so quietly! There just had to be!

...But there was none.

No reply.

There was no warming of what came next. Although Kokukuo had positioned himself protectively in front of his brother, there was no way that he couldn't possibly stopped the incoming clawed paw. Before he knew it, the breath was knocked out of his lungs as he was simply backhanded out of the way. Tossed aside like a rag doll, Kokukuo skidded into the dirt. Reflexes snapped into motion just in time so that he dug his claws into the dry earth of the cliff edge. Luckily, it was this desperate motion that saved him from slipping off the edge. Giving a shaky mewl of strain as his little legs slipped and clawed against the crumbling cliff wall, Kokuko lifted his red eyes and focused on the terrible ear piercing cries of his brother just in front of him. He had been pinned against the ground like prey underneath Erze's paw.

"No!" Kokukuo heard himself shrieking with his curled toothy growl, "Don't touch my brother! DON'T TOUCH HIM!!" He couldn't get to him. He couldn't scramble up the cliffside. His claws legs pushed and scratched uselessly against the earth, but the only thing that it did was make him slip even more. With a strained yelp, Koku dug his claws deeper into the earth. While he struggled, he could watch in stupefied horror from the corner of his eye as Erze plucked up his brother and tossed him into the air. She was playing with him, tossing him in the air by his own limbs as if he were merely half-dead prey. Eyes, like liquid ruby glittered mad in the half-light like the blood dribbling from her twisted maw.

One more toss.

A terrible snapping sound, like the sound of a stone shattering against another rock. A breathy sigh escaped Koku's younger brother's lips and he stared with fading eyes at Koku from where he hung limply from his mother's mouth.

"BROTHER!!"

Kokukuo's little feet scrambled desperately against the cliff's belly, only to knock loose a chunk of earth from underneath him. With a howl of surprise, the white lion slipped down off the edge. Luckily, his clawed paws were clutching with all their might to the earth so he slowly slid to a crumbling halt. Breathing hard, Kokukuo opened his bleary tear-filled eyes and gazed up. He had fallen a good couple feet from the edge. There was no way of getting back up now. He could already feel gravity pulling at him and fingering the delicate earth underneath his quaking body as it pressed itself to the cliff edge.

After a sickening squelch of dripping sound, the flat-eared head of Erze crested the cliff, her jaw wet and sticky with red. Kokukuo stared at her in absolute terror and he felt his ears press back so deep into his head with fear that he swore that, for a moment, he couldn't hear the world. All he could hear were the drip drops of blood from his mother's mouth and the terribly near wheeze of breath through her flared nostrils. The muscles in his face were straining so hard, pulling his face into a grimace of fright, that it felt like they themselves were trying to edge as far away as they could from Erze. Saliva evaporated as soon as he saw the glint of murder in the depths of her eyes and he shrunk away by instinct.

...It was then that the cliff shifted underneath him and he began to fall from the cliff's deteriorating embrace. For a split moment, Kokukuo could see a sprig of disappointment and shock pass over his mother's eyes as she watched her prey suddenly slip farther away. Like a snake, her clawed arm snapped out and found it's mark. Raking deep into his back, the claws of Erze pressed him harder against the cliff, pinning him there. In moments, if she was dexterous enough, she'd be able to scoop him up and subject him to the same fate that had befallen his siblings. Kokukuo gave an in-lion sound, something that ripped his throat apart from the pain that exploded from his back, as if wings had just erupted from the very skin beneath his shoulder blades.

It was these wings that gave him the power to escape.

Because Erze's claws had delved themselves into Kokukuo's white back, the young cub had squirmed with such violence that he had actually manged to twist his neck over his own shoulder. With the strength of the very pain that flooded his heart, burnt his body, and ravaged his mind, Kokukuo bit hard and strong into his mother's gripping paw. He felt the red-hot bitter tase of blood, his mother's blood, seep into his own mouth. It was a iron-like taste, one that made his teeth tingle with disgust, but the very taste also prompted him to bite harder, deeper, as deep as the agony he felt in his little chest.

With an agonized demonic roar of pain, Erze's clawed paw ripped itself from Kokukuo's back and he felt his own warm lifeblood spill free, tainting his invisible wings with red.

Falling back...Falling away...Falling from the crumbling cliff...Kokukuo watched through fading eyes as Erze's terrible form disappeared into the darkened sky. He felt himself collide into the wall of the cliff, his own body giving several hideous noises as flesh slammed into earth. Then before, he knew it, he felt like he was suspended in air. He had stopped rolling. Unbeknown to him, he had tumbled into the safe shadow of some straggled bushes that grew beneath the ridge. He was covered in dirt, enveloped in an earthy smell that overpowered the scent of blood.

All he could do was breathe, breathe in, breathe out, keep on breathing; he had to.

All he could feel were the throbbing screaming points of pain all over his small curled up body.

All he could hear were his own thunderous heartbeats and his own rushing blood screaming in his mind.

All he could see was...

...Their faces.

History:
THREE WACKY PEOPLE IN AIM
Boy: Yanisin (Storei) (That one guy 8'D) "Ashamed"

Girl 1: Mafunde (Safaia) (sister to Lololi) "Overcast skies"

Girl 2: Lololi (Aris Ravenstar) (sister to Mafunde) "There is Always Love"

Culture: The three are from a very ritual-based pride. When the males become of age and are ready to take a mate, they are offered two females. The first female that becomes pregnant with the male's cubs is declared his mate, as the second is sacrificed to the fertility god in hopes that the pride will survive on and the new pair of mates will have a large and bountiful litter.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like every other young male lion come into his mane, Yanisin was gifted two young wives to choose from. One was black and white, like clouds drifting across the midnight sky. And her sister was white, with a speckled lower back.

One to be mated with.

The other to be sacrificed.

And it all depended on which one became pregnant first.

He followed the ritual as cleanly as he was trained to do and the rest of the small religious pride had no qualms in the steps he took...Since they all seemed to be the right ones. So they looked upon him with pride and nodding heads.

After some time, Mafunde announced one overcast day that she is bestowed with blessings from the fertility god and is pregnant with his children. Due to the sacred law of the pride, Lololi is to fertilize the growth of the pride with her own blood. Even more so, that it is her sister who will be bearing the children.

The closer the bloodline, the better the harvest.

Unknown to the preparing pride, Yanisin...Has fallen in love with Lololi. Fates should have left him with Mufande, to raise their cubs in peace and blessed union, but... His heart was with the white lioness. This kind of treachery, Yanisin knew, is punishable by sacrifice, of himself and his two lovers... But he had to do something. He couldn't let Lololi's blood be spilt, and yet he couldn't change Mufande's pregnancy. Yanisin knew that there was a choice he had to make, lest he risk the wrath of his pride, so he came up with a secret plan to save both of his precious wives. So, underneath the cover of dusky shade and new born moon, Yanisin quickly hides Lololi away, claiming that he has sacrificed her himself for the blessings with his new mate, Mafunde and her coming children.

Moons raise up in the sky and fall. Time passes and, although several weeks had gone by, it is clear that Mafunde's belly is not swelling with the ripeness of cubs. The pride begins to turn suspicious eyes upon Yanisin and his mate, judgmental and worried.

It was then that the fog of deception cleared and they realized the sudden treachery: Mafunde was never pregnant to begin with. In fact, the frightened lioness lied to save her own precious life, even though it would sentence her own blood and flesh sister to death.

Cornered, Mafunde and Yanisin were about to feel the sharp burn of teeth in their throats and the feeling of the cold sacrificial stone against their backs when suddenly...

Cries of agony echoed against the stone about them. They were the screams and roars of labor from Lololi who was, at that precise moment, giving birth. It was then that the truth bled into the pride's minds. Lololi was the one pregnant! She was to be sacrificed bearing children and Mafunde was to have lived in her place! And Yanisin had hidden Lololi from them? They had lied! Traitors, liars, HEATHENS, THE LOT OF THEM.

So, taking advantage of the pride's overwhelming disturbing understanding of the situation, Yanisin and Mafunde bolted at once to the place of Lololi's cries. Behind them, on the trail of their stench was the pride's justice dealers. They would find them and deal the death that had to be dealt.

In a panic, Yanisin and Mafunde came upon Lololi several moments after she had finished. Without even a chance to catch her breath, Lololi was ushered onto her feet once more time. This time she had to run. Run for her life.

Each adult, in a dizzying fluttering panic, closed their soft maws around one or two of newborns and without a second's hesitation left the secret den. They had no time to think, just grab as much life as a mouthful can gather and go! GO!

Claws scratched against the ground behind them and angry roars and growls heated the chill night air. It was coming close!

They were chased from their pride with words of hate nipping at their heels, newborns dripping from their maw, and an overwhelming sickening feeling of shame and relief. They ran away from sacrifice.

They ran away from pain...Towards pain.
