Lazy wasn't the word to describe it.

Lying on her favorite rock in the sun, Chamiyu barely let her stark blue eyes flutter in the bright light, too pleased and content to even sigh. It was true that she had just moved and made her home in the valley. It was true that she had now a companion, someone for her to turn to. And it was also true that...

As of yet, she hadn't made an attempt to speak or converse with the local habitants of the tribe. Suddenly realizing this mistake of hers, Chamiyu lifted her head and thought sadly. One of the reasons why she hadn't made an attempt was because of her fear and shyness for the inhabitants. She didn't know anyone and she wasn't about to go parading through the main grass plot, readying to meet new faces. The only way she would go there first was with Mteuli.

But he wasn't there as of the moment.

Flicking her ears in annoyance, the black lioness mulled more over the thought when...

Tamariku, having recently returned from his slavedom, had taken it upon himself to wander the valleys and meet as many lions as he could. He hd hardly known any of the lions in the pride when he was a cub, and he still knew hardly any of them. But shyness was something he never had to deal with. The multi-colored lion had been through a lot in his life, and he now had hardly any fear of anything. He wasn't cocky or conceited though; just wiser.

His two-toned eyes scanned the jungle lands as he strode through the tall grasses. He hadn't seen nor smelt a lion for a while, and he was wondering where he was even going. Getting lost wasn't something on his agenda, but an adventure was always a welcome thing in the adolescants mind. He knew he'd be lectured for staying out too long by his family, but his curious side yearned to explore the lands he had longed for while a captive of Nyek.

Finally a scent hit the lions senses, and he smiled a little to himself, as he strode off to find the source of the clue.

Chamiyu rolled onto her back on the large boulder, exposing her jet black tummy and soaking up the sun like some undiscovered black rose. Purring, she began to stretch and hum when suddenly a smell whiffed up her nose. Rolling quickly onto her stomach, Chamiyu lifted her black head to scan the grass fields around her for the sight of another lion.

Then suddenly the grass off to the right moved and the lioness jerked her blue eyes to the movement of the blades. It was an adolestant lion, multi-hued, and looking quite wholesome and happy. Chamiyu sat herself up and kept her forelegs straight, "Hullo? Who is it that wanders there?"

Rikus ears swiveled on his skull as he heard the lionesses voice through the grasses. He pushed away a few trailing blades to get a better look at her, and smiled warmly. "Greetings." He said with a deep, calm voice. His multi-colored tail flicked a few times as he watched her. He promptly sat down on his haunches, squishing the grass below him down. "I am Tamariku, though you cna call me Riku." He said smiling. "Who are you?" He cocked his head to the side a bit, a habit he had never quite shaken since cubhood.

The adult lioness gave the youngling teen an inquisitive eye and she nodded her slick black head to his word of greeting. "It is wonderful to meet you, Riku," She said pleasantly and shyly with her bell-like voice, "I am Chamiyu. I was recently recieved to this tribe. Are you a native?"

chamiyu was slightly in awe, another lion talking to her! And this time, she didn't try to turn tail and flee. Mteuli had given her strength, that's for sure, and it looked like she was beginning to use it.

Riku smiled at her pleasant reaction. He was very glad to meet a lioness that wasn't crazy. He held back a chuckle at the thought, and shook his mane from his eyes. "I haven't been here long, though my mother and her siblings have been here for a long time. Since they were cubs." He said with a smile. "I just returned from a not so nice situation." His pleasant expression turned to one of remorse for a moment, but quicly snapped back with a flick of his tail. "And how did you end up in the pride?"

"I was a rogue," Chamiyu replied earnestly, giving a shy movement of her head, "But then your tribe's priest, Mteuli found me and brought me here so that'd I'd have a home. You say you have been gone...? That is sad to hear, this place is so beautiful and wonderful. What compelled you to leave? Who's your mother? I haven't met anyone else in the pride besides the queen and Mteuli."

Riku nodded a little, he had heard about the lion Mtueli and his brother. "Oh, that's nice. More the merrier." He said with a smile. "My mother is Tanashita, our family is rather large." He said with a laugh. "Me and my six siblings, along with my two cubs and my mate and my father, live in a den in the grove of trees down there." He said, motioning behind him. "It's fairly far away."

Another solemn look came over him, and he put his gaze to the ground as he spoke in a low voice. "I was taken as a cub, my an evil lion. My mate and our cubs and I only got away recently."

Chamiyu gasped and she knitted her brows together in grief and sympathy for the poor adolestant. A mate and cubs already at his age? What a wonder! But even bigger still was the wonder that he was able to escape enslavement.

"That's horrible," The black lioness breathed, her blue eyes welling up in sorrow, "I'm am dreadfully sorry to hear that such a thing has happened to you. But I am very glad that you are now safe, back in your homelands. You are a lucky one indeed, you and your family. A family is a very precious thing, to be sure."

Chamiyu had never had a family before. Staring with a new respect for the lion below her, Chamiyu jumped from the rock so that she'd be eye leel for the young Riku.

Riku smiled a bit, nodding his head, his multicolored mane bobbing up and down. "Yes, it was a horrible place. I don't like to think of it much." He said, shaking his head as if to rid himself of the thought.

"How did you and Mteuli meet?" He asked, looking into her eyes now.

Chamiyu flushed a rosy hue at the question and smiled softly at the mention of her loved one, "I was alone and it began to rain on the edges of the pridelands. Mteuli came to me in the rain and asked me what I was doing getting soaked. After a litle bit of conversation we found shelter, and we talked somemore when it was decided that he would take me here. I didn't have a home, I was a wanderer, so he told me of this place and I wanted to come. And that's how me met." Chamiyu finished her short story and tilted her head to the side as if mirroring Riku's movements.

"Who is your loved one?"

Riku smiled at the story, and nodded a bit. "Her name is Kichea." He said simply with a sigh and a smile. "She's wonderful. She's the only one at that horrid place that was kind to me. The lion, he forced us to mate. But so much good came from that that I don't mind the thought anymore." He said with a shrug, though he did seem a bit embarrassed speaking of it.

"That's horrid and...Lucky at the same time, Riku," Chamiyu said, feeling that welt of guilt that srpings to life on the heart of one who listens to such a story. She gave him and sympathetic smile and said, "And you're just getting luckier and happier by the minute, huh? I hope that your future remains strong and bright, Riku, you've had such a tough time, it's about time that you get the life you deserve."

Riku nodded with a smile. "Thank you very much, Chamiyu." He said smiling once more. "I suppose all things happen fora reason. I do hope you'll find happiness as much as I have." He bowed slightly to her, inclining his head. "I believe you're set for great things."

"If so, I'm more than ready to greet them. I've been without a purpose for so long...Now coming here....It's like being born again. Thank you," The black lions replied, smiling peacefully in such a way that it was almost contagious. Then, bowing her head to him, she continued, "If you do need any help with anything, I'm here to help. I'm a healer so I can help you or your familyif they're hurt."
