Solo
It's just cherries, cherries Everything is cherries on top ❤ (WC: 768 )
A lot could change over the course of a year.
One of Prissy's favorite changes from last year's was definitely the view. Waking up to a shrouded glimpse of Paris through the hotel's window had her sighing happily, the Eiffel Tower's twinkling lights beckoning her in the distance. It had been far too long since her presence had graced the city and coming back was like returning home, in a sense.
Her most favorite change, though, had to be the twenty-five... no, twenty-six year old asleep on the pillow next to hers.
Smiling, she quietly rose, tucking her long hair behind her shoulders as bare legs shifted their way off the side of the bed. It was still early, the night sky outside still waiting to be chased away by the morning sun and while she knew her body could probably still use a few more hours of sleep, her mind was wide awake, contemplating the comparison between this year and the last.
Her weight leaving the bed failed to disturb her sleeping companion, bare feet padding their way to the nearby chair to pluck up the hotel robe discarded the previous night. Wrapping the soft fabric around her, she glanced over at the sleeping boy and her smile widened.
Waking up next to her favorite person hadn't been a significant thing, at first. It was something so simple, something so small that she'd taken it for granted for the few months they'd shared it together. Then, after losing him for nearly six months and having no idea when or if he'd return...
Well, it certainly made her more grateful to find him in the same bed, from that point on.
The year hadn't been the easiest, surely, but she wouldn't have traded it for anything in the world. She'd endured dark bruises, broken bones and wounded feelings on more than one occasion. Her loyalty had been tested in several senses and she'd weathered the turmoil with her chin held as high as she could manage it. One adventure after another, the weeks had helped build on both character and her relationships with other.
Some friends and allies had drifted away while new ones had found their way to her side. Uncertainty had found her in several instances but there was one thing that she was certain of and it was the young man who'd strolled his way into her world with a charming smile and wickedness lurking in the depths of the whiskey stare she'd sometimes find herself drowning in.
Chase wore her on his arm like a pretty accessory and for most of their outings, it was how she felt like she was treated. Prissy didn't mind - it was her place in life and she'd come to accept it, her role in the world to embrace and no one else's. There were plenty of pretty girls that he could have chosen from, but he'd picked her to belong to him and Prissy liked to think in some ways, he belonged to her. Whether or not he saw it that way...well. It didn't matter, really - he needed her and he'd told her so and the soft words he'd uttered months prior in a different hotel bedroom were still quietly kept close to her heart.
Turning back towards the desk, she arranged the small boxes that had been tugged from from her luggage only hours earlier, before she'd dozed off. Buying birthday presents for a man who was already whisking her away to Europe for his birthday seemed like a paltry offering, but she was a sentimental fool and gifted as such.
Four beautiful ties lurked beneath the wrapping of the first box, a silly little homage to their celebration from the year before. Maybe these will work better she'd teasingly written on the attached note. The young woman wasn't sure if her boyfriend would share in the humor but it brought a humored look to her own face.
The second box held a watch. It was a simple design with a designer name brand and while timepieces seemed irrelevant with the convenience of phones, it struck Prissy as classy and charming, just how she found the giftee to be.
Fingers lingered over the boxes, brushing against the chiffon ribbon before her attention found itself elsewhere. Shifting the robe over her shoulder, she returned to the window, slipping past the balcony's door and into the chilly morning air. Elbows rested atop the metal railing as she slumped forward, quietly watching the world go by as the evening's twilight slowly dwindled away. Nuxaz Happy Birthday, Mr. Black <3
