It had cost her nearly a week's worth of time and a close call with a particularly grimy looking feline-man (seriously? Since when did Mauvians turn into men?) but she'd succeeded in securing the treasure she'd sought out for.
Silver sandals clacked their way across the tile flooring as she made her way into the large house, the tiny hat still pinched between her fingers. Her fuku had been traded for shorts and a spaghetti-strap shirt, both a mix of pink and white. Summer had hit Destiny City and Priscilla wasn't about to wear anything that wasn't going to provide her with the coolest option available.
"Teddy darling, are you around here?"
Her head twisted down the hallway in one direction, then the other as the curls of her pink ponytail brushed against the back of her neck. Chances are that no one was at home - such was the result of coming home in the middle of the warm summer day.
Still, she tried again. "Baby, I've missed youuuu~"
Nuxaz I realized the connotation of the title could be questionable but I didn't really care to think of a better one, whoops

Ever since his hat had been become a casualty of a cat turf war, Theodore had resigned himself to lying beneath whatever he could squeeze his fluffy frame under. Most of the time, this resulted in his hiding beneath the semi-recently purchased couches that his mistress's boyfriend purchased in his attempts at erasing bad memories.
The persian wished that the grumpy man could erase his loss of dignity.
As such, Theodore had squeezed himself into one of Prissy's dresser drawers, curled up on unused pajamas in the dark, sulking. He didn't deserve to be anywhere but a place that was slightly cramped because he had failed the house and his lady.
Shame kept him in place, but Prissy's sweet voice calling for him eventually coaxed him out and he padded out of her room, meowing very loudly at the door. "Mrooooooow."

"There you are, silly boy. Where have you been hiding?"
(Her nose would eventually wrinkle, once she found the pair of pajamas that were now covered in dark and pink cat hair - but who could stay mad at such a sweet, loyal companion? Lint rollers would save the day in that sort of situation because who in the world could replace the world's best guardian cat???)
Prissy had half a mind to hide the hat and bring it out as a surprise, but patience was not a virtue she excelled in. Instead, she immediately knelt down to sit on the heels of her feet as she beckoned the small Mauvian towards her. There was no one else in the world that Priscilla Stratford would crawl on the ground for, than to be at level with her faithful, furry best friend.
"Guess what your Prissy managed to find for you, sweet baby," the coos continued as her hand extended itself, revealing the tiny little silk top hat that she knew her little kitty was mourning over. "Had to go find a nasty, mean old cat to get it, too."

Theodore didn't respond, instead he flattened his ears against his skull and pawed at the carpet. He didn't have it in him to admit his shame once again or how he had been wallowing in it. Luckily, Prissy didn't seem too inclined to wait for him to respond and he was able to distract by padding over to her and placing his small paws on her knees.
"Miss Prissy..." Theodore started, head tilting curiously before they widened in happy surprise. "You got my hat back!" Delighted, the persian launched himself into the woman's lap, purring up a storm immediately as he nuzzled his face against whatever he could manage.
"Oh, Miss Prissy! You're the best!"

Really, how on Earth did anyone dare argue that they had the cutest kitten in the world? Hands down, Priscilla Stratford was the owner - no, companion of - the cutest, most adorable cat the likes of any planet had ever seen.
"I'm so glad you're happy, sweetheart."
He was clearly exuberantly happy with the retrieval of his hat. She didn't even feel the need to go into detail about how long it actually took to find the fiend nor the deal he tried to make with her to get it back with. No, Teddy's excitement and immediate pounce was gratitude enough.
Honestly, why weren't all men this grateful to her?
Taking a moment to cuddle against her sweet, perfect little boy, she pressed a short, simple kiss against his perfectly-shaped nose before resting him to sit in her lap. It was hard to stay firm with the most wonderful Mauvian in existence, but she certainly did her best. After all, there was still one very pressing matter to discuss. One that she wouldn't have even thought of, if... well.
If she hadn't seen it with her very own rose colored eyes.
Resting one hand on his back, she began to pet him gently while the other rehomed his tiny little top hat directly in between his ears. "Now Theodore. You and I need to have a talk."

Pink eyes widened in surprise that quickly melted into delight at the kiss to his nose. A loud, undeniably happy purr rumbled from his little cat body and his eyes closed before he butt his head against her chest. His senshi was the best senshi there ever was, clearly, and he was so, so proud to be her guardian cat.
Having settled comfortably on her lap, Theodore didn't bother to open his eyes as he was petted. However, the tone in which Miss Prissy used had his purring rumble cut short immediately, dark ears flattening against his head when he mewled.
"Did I do something wrong Miss Prissy?" He asked immediately, pink eyes blinking up at his favorite person in the galaxy.

Fingers paused in their petting as she gave him a look. "Now why would you even say that? If there's anyone in this world that hasn't wronged me, it would be you, Teddykins."
Her knees were beginning to tingle from the position she was in, so the pink haired girl moved to sit down on the floor, folding her legs together as if it weren't an odd appearance, taking a seat in the middle of a room. "There's just..."
How did she even begin to explain this?
"When I ran into your friend, he started off as a cat - like you - but then he changed." Prissy mulled over her words as they slowly began to leave her mouth, "I didn't realize that Mauvians could alter their appearances."
There, that was a sensible start, right?
Her cheeks tinged a light pink as she resumed her petting of the young Mau. "So have you been keeping this a secret from me too, Teddy?"

Relief washed over him as she assured him that he hadn't done anything wrong. Content, he curled back in her lap and listened as intently as a comfortably cute cat would. Sensing her hesitation, his head lifted again and his ears flattened.
"Just what Miss Prissy?" He asked carefully, suddenly concerned about how anything he said might come across.
"He's not my friend," he quipped in an indignant huff, shoulders squaring while his eyes narrowed. Bob was certainly no friend of his. Darn bullying fat cat.
"What are you talking about Miss Prissy? I don't have any form but this." That he knew of anyway.

His confusion brought a sense of relief to her and the tension slowly began to dissipate from her shoulders. Of course he couldn't change. It was an absurd notion - Teddy wouldn't have any reason to hold any secrets from his favorite person in the world, would he?
Surely Bob must have made a deal with a youma or some other low, nefarious arrangement to turn into the humanoid man he'd turned into. Surely.
"It's probably nothing then, sweet boy," she cooed softly, moving to adjust his tiny bowtie until it sat just right beneath his chin. "That nasty old Bob turned into a human, so it made me wonder if that was something that your kind did. But I know my handsome little Teddykins wouldn't hold back such a secret from me, now would he?"
A single finger moved to scritch under his chin. "What do you say we go out and get us a special treat to celebrate getting your hat back, hm?"

Theodore was practically preening as Miss Prissy fixed his bowtie for him and he grinned as best as a cat could at her. It faded quickly when the topic returned to that horrible cat Bob.
What kind of name was Bob anyway. It was plain and ugly, suited more for a hobo or a creature that lived among trash. A horrible name, really, nothing like Theodore, a name suited for an elegant and poised cat like himself.
Furry brows knitted together and he wrinkled his nose, tail shifting from side to side in her lap. "I - I don't know, but I'll find out Miss Prissy. Don't you worry."
The idea of being able to turn into a human or something human like was appealing actually and maybe he would have to have a talk with gross old Bob about this special skill that he had that Teddy did not.
How dare he.
"Oh! Can we Miss Prissy? Please?"

Prissy simply smiled back at her faithful little furry friend, plucking him up as she rose to her feet. Good. There was one less thing to worry about and more excuses to shop - just the way she liked things ending up.
"Of course, darling."
Snuggling her companion against her, she made her way into the bedroom to retrieve her purse and a proper pair of shopping shoes.
