Artemis, Besyrwan, Meshach and Thestral
Meeting the GrandparentsRemove Besyrwan had decided to take Meshach out to teach him a few things, he hadn't planned on going too far from Christabel and his daughter but he seemed to just keep walking. The last thing he expected was to walk into his mother but he had found her by the lake and the fussing began. Meshach adored the attention, after all he was the best unicorn in the world!
The three of them had decided to continue moving, well Artemis and Bes had there wasn't much point in asking Meshach as he had more then enough energy for all them put together.
"So Dad, your dad is all funny looking?" Meshach looked up at his father as he asked the question and Artemis laughed. Bes just looked awkward.
"No, he is just different from you and me and my mother."
"Yeah right!" Meshach wouldn't believe that, it just didn't sound right. He would have to see for himself and he didn't like the explanation that his grandmother giving him about this grandfather of his being near invisible and you only finding him when he finds you. It just sounded odd. dustfeather Thestral had a rather unnerving habit of turning up wherever looked for.
In truth, the stallion kept close to Artemis, like an overly large, quiet and persistant shadow that keeps to itself for the majority of time. A suspicious lack of many large carnivores around may be the only clue to his whereabouts at times.
The half-kalona lopes along lazily this morning. Several cute and squeaky things had already given their lives for his breakfast, so he wasn't particularly hungry; he looks like he's oiut for a morning stroll. The stallion quietly settles into pace on the trees to his family's left, his ears pricked, pupil-less eyes peering over to them with a complete lack of any apparent emotion.
Ears sudden snap up as the scent of something new - not only of Artemis and his recently found-again son, but a third being - hits him. His head drops, and he trots purposefully but warily into the clearing, looking more like a rangy wolf than anything of the equine species.
Remove Artemis saw Thestral instantly and as any mate would do she ran up to him, nuzzling his neck. She turned back to see Bes trying to keep Meshach quiet as it was obvious he wanted to say something and knowing his it would probably be rude.
"Thestral dear, Bes has something to show you, I mean someone. I am glad you are here." Artemis spoke softly as she always did around him. He never said a word back to her but it didn't matter, why would it? He showed her he cared and thats all that mattered.
"Father, I would like you to meet Meshach." Bes turned and nudged the young unicorn forward a little.
"He is my son. I have a daughter as well but she is with her mother." He then went up a little closer to his father though kept between him and Meshach. The foal was so unpredictable sometimes.
Meshach was happy to watch his grandmother go up to the strange looking thing and then nuzzle it and call it 'dear'. He would have laughed if it wasn't for the stare he was getting from his father. So that is what a Kalona looked like. He looked a bit like that stupid odd girl. Maybe she was a Kalona.
"Hello funny looking thing." He spoke in his normal annoying voice with an overly large smile on his face. He wanted to test his grandparents, not quite sure how but he would find some way of testing them. He couldn't help but be cheeky! dustfeather Thestral nickered a low greeting to his mate, nibbling on her withers for a moment before turning to his son and giving him a friendly if powerful head-butt.
His head tips to the side as if he were listening to Bes - or perhaps he just enjoys the sound, it's hard to tell - and he turns his attention to the little unicorn.
He lowers his head and snorts softly at Meshach, whuffling at the boy's horn, which seems to fascinate him. It's the same type as his foster-father, Jewel. Oddly enough, he doesn't seem upset or annoyed at the jibe the boy gives; either it doesn't bother him, or he perhaps doesn't understand the language that well to even know what it means. It's clear that he'd go up to the child if permitted, but since Bes is still between them, he seems to accept this and keeps his distance, making a curious little sound in his throat and looking between Artemis, Bes, and Meshach, as if coming to a conclusion.
Remove Artemis watched her mate carefully, he was fascinating. "Oh Thestral I would love to know what you would say if you could speak!" She chuckled a little and lent her head on his neck slightly. She then looked over at Meshach,
"Come say hello to your grandfather properly!" She was still talking softly.
Bes moved after his father acknowledged his son. He went to stand next to Thestral so that Meshach could meet his grandfather properly. He was nervous, after all Meshach was known to stir up trouble.
Meshach on the other hand was looking forward to this. He moved forwards to his grandfather and just stared.
"Why don't you talk? You are so odd!" dustfeather Thestral broke off a moment to happily tug on a bit of Artemis's mane, glancing back over his shoulder for a moment, then deciding that whatever's back there can probably stay there.
He learned quite well from his time with Jewel that bringing home 'gifts' of dead squirrels and rabbits was not appreciated. It had taken several horrified looks on his foster-father's part and several loud lectures, but eventually comprehension seemed to arrive and Thestral stopped bringing home dead animals. This probably would not go over well here.
Thestral lets out a puff of breath at Meshach's forelock, staring (one can only assume, with those eyes) at him and seemingly finding him as fascinating as the boy was finding him. His head goes up, briefly, to give Bes and Artemis several thoughtful stares. He peers at Meshach, then pointedly at Artemis, then at Bes, as if there was a question there.
Remove "He is staring at my horn!" Meshach wasn't happy with those strange eyes staring at him like he was. It just looked really horrible. He ran over to his father and hid behind him. He wasn't easily freaked out but those eyes staring at him were just freaky.
Bes looked at his son and then to his mother then his father. "Meshach is a unicorn father, which is why he has the horn, his mother, my mate is an Alicorn, she has a horn and wings, though not like yours. Her wings have feathers. My daughter has wings too but she doesn't have a horn." He hoped that was what his father was asking anyway.
Artemis laughed at Meshach, "Oh you are a silly boy! Thestral might not be able to speak but he wouldn't hurt anyone who is related to him! Come out Meshach you are silly." She laughed again and looked at at Thestral, "Is that what you wanted to know? About his horn?"
