The black colt was running, he had managed to run for a while without falling over and that made him the proudest creature in existence, at least thats what he thought.
He stopped running to take a rest, flicking his tail behind him, he lowered his head to tear up some grass. He decided grass was good for running, not only was it full of water it had dew on it. Thats why it was good, it was also early morning which meant there weren't many others about so he could do what he wanted.
He was always awake early in the morning, he just missed out on so much by sleeping and he couldn't wait around for his parents because well they were boring most of the time and his sister, who would want to wait for her? She was just, her! So mornings were his alone time where he could do what ever he wanted and right now it was to eat the damp refreshing grass.

 The quiet, calm winged filly meandered idly across the grassy landscape, enjoying the feel of the sun on her back as she walked. It had been a while since she'd had any time to herself, away from her sister and parents. They wouldn't be happy to know she'd wandered off again, but she was willing to endure a little scolding to have some fun.
A figure silouhetted against the distant horizon caught her attention, and golden hues focused on the form of another foal in the distance. A small smile graced her maw as she changed direction to intercept the other soquili.
This could be fun, after all.

He didn't notice the filly, he was too wrapped up in himself and the grass. Oh the grass was good, no it was better then good it was amazing! He dropped to the ground once he had finished eating it and rolled.
His legs were kicking the air as he rolled in the random directions, he didn't really care what he was doing, he was just having fun on his own which he didn't have during the day.
However his golden eyes did notice something heading his direction so he stopped rolling and let his body fall to one side. He laid in the damp grass, stretching his neck to try and get a better view of her. He couldn't be bothered to get up and actually look at her properly, that would be the clever thing to do!

Seeing the careless manner in which the new figure- which she now recognized as a unicorn colt- was rolling in the grass, Aquene couldn't supress the light giggle that tumbled from her maw as she neared him. She only ever had that much fun when she was playing with her sister- maybe he would be friends with her and they could have fun like that together..?
She giggled again as he looked up at her from his resting place on his side, smiling and dipping her head politely in greeting, as her father had taught her to do. "Hello," she said softly, "may I ask what you're doing?"

Wasn't it obvious?
"Rolling. What you doing?" Another obvious question but he wasn't sure what else to say! Meshach was far from being good at conversations, he normally just annoyed others and he had never once introduced himself, he thought his name was only there for his family.
He tried to think of something but he couldn't think of anything to say so he tried to think of things his father said to his mother. The one thing his father liked saying a lot to his mother was about her being beautiful. Meshach hadn't a clue what it meant but it seemed polite even if it was to a girl.
"Beautiful."
He hadn't the slightest clue what he had just said but to him it could just be another way of saying hello and that is exactly what he thought it was.

She smiled brightly at his answer, easily dismissing the obviousness of the statement. He was talking to her, after all, and it was much better than being alone or ignored. She had her father's patience and diplomacy, after all- if he didn't want to talk or play, she could wait until he did.
"Wandering," she replied honestly, uncaring that it was also an obvious answer.
She was struck speechless with surprise at the word that she'd often heard her own father tell her mother, a blush heating her face as she remembered what it had meant. He thought she was pretty? She'd often heard it from her parents, but hearing it from someone else meant something else entirely.
"Th-thank you," she murmured quietly, a shy smile gracing her features. "My name is Aquene- what's yours?"

He ignored her answer, it was rude of him that was for sure but he didn't know it was rude.
When she stuttered saying thank you though he was confused, really confused. Why was she saying thank you? Must be because she is female. Females are always stupid.
Then came her name which he did think was quite pretty but she wasn't obviously. She was yucky! All girls were yucky, especially his sister, she was extra yucky.
Why did she want to know his name? No one knew his name. He sighed, there wasn't much harm in giving his name out was there?
"Meshach."

One ear twitched at his apparently reluctant answer- he didn't like her much, did he? Then why had he called her beautiful? Shrugging it off, the filly decided it was okay if he didn't like her, that could always change. She smiled kindly and dipped her head again in a gesture that had been ingrained into her by her chivalrous father.
"It's nice to meet you, Meshach. Do you want to be friends?"
No matter how polite and calm she might have been, she was still a child, and wanted a playmate outside her family.

A friend? Now that was something that sounded interesting but would she do all the naughty things he liked doing? Well there was only one way to find out wasn't there!
"Ok! What do you want to do?"
He thought it would be a good idea to ask her because then he could get some idea of what it was that she liked doing and whether she would be a good friend or a bore like most others.

Her hesitant smile instantly grew into a bright, happy grin at his ascent, golden hues brightening in joy. She paused a moment to consider his question, 'hmmm'ing in thought a moment.
"Um... I think there are some caves a little ways from here, want to go explore them?" sure, her parents wanted her to stay out of danger, but they hadn't specifically said anything about caves, and she didn't see the harm in going. After all, at least she wasn't going alone, right?

Caves were dark and scary.
"Yeah lets go!"
His plan was to let her lead and then vanish into the darkness, follow behind and jump her so she would scream. It would be so funny and lots of fun! Yes caves sounded like lots and lots of fun!

Smiling brightly, and blissfully oblivious to his plans to scare her, the young filly nickered her excitement and started forward at a brisk trot.
"Come on, they're this way!"

He smiled, "Lead the way!"
He followed her keeping up with her pace, after all they were about the same age so keeping up wouldn't be too much of a problem for the black colt. He was happy and would pretend to be nice but she was female and that meant she was yucky because all females were yucky.

Her parents would be pleased in her judgement, she was sure- she could make friends for herself! She had been wary after her father had warned her about kalonas and ill-tempered soquili, but this colt was neither of those... and he'd even told her she was beautiful! A small blush arose in her cheeks at the thought, but her smile didn't waver in the slightest.
Arriving only a few moments later at the interesting rocky structures, golden eyes peered curiously into the first cave they came to, pulling back to grin at her unicorn friend. "You want to go in first, or should I?"

He followed her smiling though his smile was a very different one to hers. He was going to have some fun and that would involve upsetting the female because that way he would be able to do something useful, at least it would be to him.
"You should go first, father says ladies first." He tried to talk softly and politely, holding the smirk off his face for as long as possible. This would be so much fun if it worked!
