Kiefer yawned. It was a nice day, only a few clouds littering the deep blue sky. He lay out in a nice field, enjoying the sun on his coat. It had been a while since he had had the chance to just sit and relax like this. He had wandered back towards where he had grown up, but everything was different. He had no idea if this was the field where he had played with Kindle, or if it was near the forest he had got lost in with Tierce.
Foalhood had been so long ago. But he wasn't bitter about wanting it back, Kiefer knew he was still young, and there was still plenty of time to play and act like a foal. Just not in front of any adults. Still, he was always up for playing with any wandering colts or fillies, they made him feel like a foal again.

The young black colt was all to happy to be running about. He was chasing an invisible monster that he was going to horn to death with his golden horn of amazingness.
However his hunt was cut short because a golden coloured male seemed to be around and he had cool markings like Meshach, which made him automatically cool. They were nearly the same brown as around his too.
"Hey stripe gold boy!" What else was he going to be called? Meshach hadn't got the point of names, everyone was just called whatever it was he wanted to call them.

Kiefer's ears twitched, as suddenly something burst into his field. A ball of black and gold, all energy. It was a colt, his own markings practically the inverted version of Kiefer's own, except he was nearly black, had more stripes, and his mane and tail were not striped. Still, it was quite the coincidence.
"Stripe Gold Boy?" he said with a mischievous grin at the little thing. He got up, and trotted in the colt's direction. He seemed wholey ready to play or have fun, even with a complete stranger. that was a nice thing about foals, they usually wouldn't judge too fast except for very obvious things, like gender.
"Well, nice to meet you...Gold Striped Colt" he said, grinning again. He then noticed the little horn coming from the colt's head. Oh, so this was a Uni, eh? Kiefer had yet to meet any sort of Unicorn, and now he ran into a foal! Interesting. The little guy's tail was unique too, long and with a furry end, just like Bairn's familiars. Then again, he remembered hearing that Uni's often had those types of tails.

He flicked his tail and tilted his head a little while looking at the older stallion.
"You are odd." This time he meant it in a good way though it was nearly impossible to tell whether he meant it in a good or bad way. He looked up and examined the stallion. He had such bright green eyes and stripes! The stripes were very important!
Meshach was known for being random but after deciding this stallion wasn't that bad he decided to start throwing random facts out.
"I am Meshach and I am one half Alicorn and one quater Kalona." He smiled proudly and looked up happily at the stallion. "I am also a unicorn!" He was very proud but then he hadn't been able to boast about his family until now so he was going to enjoy it!

Kiefer smiled. "I'm odd, am I? Well, I guess I will have to live with that, then" he said, not offended by the foals remark. He was, after all, just a foal. Kiefer would never be able to interpret what was going through the little one's mind, and he didn't really feel like trying.
"Nice to meet you Meshach...that is quite the family you have there!" said Kiefer, noticing the fact the colt hadn't even bothered to mention the other 1/4th of of what he was. Probably just normal. But no matter, really. The colt probubly didn't find this peice of new s very exciting.
"I'm Kiefer, 100% normal, but I don't mind" he said. The little guy sure did seem proud to have such an interesting heritage!

He nodded.
"I have the best family ever. Father says his side of the family is huge though I haven't met any of them. I never stick around they are all so boring and my sister is stupid." He was rambling, he loved to ramble but hadn't done so in such a long time.
"Is your family boring too? Bet they are if you are all normal." It made sense in his head, if they were normal they couldn't be interesting could they? Not possible!

Kiefer smiled. "Well, I know a few in my family that would get into quite the argument with you over who has the best family ever" Kiefer would probably be one of them on some days, but this was just a foal, and it was nice to see that he loved his family that much.
"Well, I am sure you will appreciate your sister a lot more when you are older. I have two sisters myself, and they weren't my favorite foals ever when I was your age. Now I really miss them" he said, thinking back to Abattie and Tahlia, wondering where they were now.
"I've got a very large family myself. And on their days they can be boring, but I've found as I've met more, all of them are really interesting if you listen to all that had happened to them" he said, smiling "And you should know, your race doesn't affect how interesting you are. It might affect how they act, though" he said, remembering how angry Kalonas can can.

Meshach listened but shook his head.
"Nope. Won't ever like her, she is yucky." He snorted or at least tried to. A foals snort wasn't as effective as that of a grown stallion and was pretty laughable.
"It won't affect how they act. Grandfather is a Kalona and father says he is wonderful but uncle is also a Kalona and he is mean but I haven't met either of them yet. I will though! Mother is an Alicorn and she is hyper and father said she was really flirty but I don't think all alicorns are like that. So you are wrong!" Completely wrong. Meshach was always right after all!

Kiefer smiled, trying not to laugh at the little colt. He was a classic little colt, hates girls, arrogant, thinks he is cool. Still, he was rather cute. Kiefer never had a stage where he found fillies completely gross, but he did find them 'inferior' for a bit, which was a mistake with the fillies that he spoke too.
"Well, whatever you say. But one day I am sure the stallions will be talking to her, and you will get very angry" he said, grinning. That is how he was, always protective of his sisters. Never let them out of his sight.
"Well, that is true, some aren't like that. But Kalonas tend to be a bit meaner than some Soquili because..." he stopped, he didn't want to sit and tell a colt that one-fourth of his blood was flesh eating. "Well, I don't know. But I haven't met any Alicorns, and you are the first Unicorn I've ever met" he said. Surly the colt would be happy to hear this!

"Nope I won't care!" He was stubborn, very stubborn.
"Kalona's aren't mean they are cool. You don't know anything obviously." It made common sense. He was part Kalona and he wasn't mean and nor was his father so couldn't be true.

Kiefer grinned. "Whatever you say" he said. Of course, what did he know? As a colt even then he was protective of his sisters. Sort of. He would lead them into trouble, but if anything ever happened, it was always him that would step up and take care of things, be the one to fight. Attie was the level headed one that kept them together, and Tahlia always made sure they didn't go to far.
"Well, I suppose" although I've heard of plenty threatening soquili I know. He knew, however, that often Kalonas weren't mean. They were just...flesh-eating. But he knew many were. He didn't want to get on the colts bad side, though, lest he be calling to uncle Kalona.
"The best one, really now?" he asked, almost laughing outwardly. Typical arrogant colt, always thinking to be the best.

Meshach looked at Kiefer curiously and snorted.
"I am the best unicorn, there is no one better and I wish there weren't any female unicrons they make us all look yucky!" He was adamant on all females being horrid whether they were related or not. His mother was yucky too but he put up with her because she was his mother after all!

Kiefer couldn't help it, he began to laugh. Well, if the colt got offended, so be it! He remembered being like that, thinking all girls were horrid things that he shouldn't give the light of day.
"Maybe one day you will meet some mare that will change your mind on that" he said, with a smile. "Or maybe you won't" he added. Not everyone found something like that. But surely this colt would learn how wrong he was. At least Kiefer hoped he would. Maybe some strong willed filly will come around and show him whats-what, like what happened to Kiefer. Of course...maybe not.

Meshach just stared at Kiefer.
"Are you stupid? No female is nice, all yucky. They will always be yucky. You are stupid if you think otherwise." He continued to stare and spoke in a matter of fact way. No males should like females, other then his father. He did love his parents.

Kiefer felt a bit offended. Sure, he was being insulted by a colt. But still...the words didn't hurt as much as they were annoying. The colt was wrong, and Kiefer knew it, but Meshach refused to listen to any sort of reason.
"You shouldn't call others stupid if they don't agree with you. As you get older, you might find that stuff you thought to be true isn't. It's wrong to think everything you know is set in stone" he said. Then again, he had things that HE knew were set in stone. Why should it be different for the colt? Even if he WAS wrong....
"Just...don't write off everything you here. Girls get less icky as they get older." he added. "Sometimes you might think fillies are. But they aren't" he said. He hoped Meshach would listen, and not call him stupid or such things anymore.
