Dunnottar couldn't help a small smile at the appearance of the leviathan. Now that... that was a true challenge. He loved fighting big monsters. Perhaps he should come to these Chaos filled planets more often when the aliens needed assistance in finally clearing the blight from their planets.
Yet, more skeletons rose up, and he quickly focused on them, first. Taking little bits of damage from little guys and a big guy wasn't the smart way to deal with this problem. Once these things were dealt with, he could focus on casting his magic towards the large monster.
His eyes cut to Dagon. She was focusing on the large monster first. Understandable, he supposed. It was her world. The fungus filled bone masses dropped as he attacked, his unicorns scattering three of them, leaving him with his three left to deal with. It seemed one had taken at least a little damage, which was nice, but now he had to recast. He gritted his teeth, pulling his cane back up from the now muddy soil in preparation.
He would protect her as well as he could.

Giant skeletons being moved by weird fungi was not on her bingo card for this year..... nor was getting bowled over by a wave of water that crashed on over her, making Solaris yelp and stumble backwards onto her a**. The chill left her shivering and cursing in her native tongue, shoving herself back to her feet as she followed after Ekstrom. "Prefer it when the dead stay dead," she hissed to the knight, pointing her finger at some of the skeletons near her and snapping her fingers, causing a spark and golden orb to launch out at them.
The explosion ripped through the cobbled together bodies, flinging out fungi and bones about as the skeletons fell apart.
"We're gonna have to take out the big one soon as possible, not sure how many times it can pick all its little friends up."
Deep Space Super Sailor Tianyi HP: 39/75 Location: C10 Action: Physically attacking his skeletons! Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 7; one skeleton down, 3 remaining
Character Name and journal linkCernunnos of Freedom HP: 26 - 6 - 6 = 14 Location: F11 Action: Freaking out a bit, regretting his choices, getting his a** handed to him in the form of a broken horn Interaction Roll: - Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 4 = 14 damage to his skeletons
Everything in him regretted coming here with a passion. This was all so wrong.
Cernunnos had never considered himself a fighter, he couldn't fathom what had possessed him to think he could, somehow, help in this situation. Maybe it had been more about his curiosity than anything, and now he was paying the price for that.
More skeletons formed from the muck of what was left of the last ones, shaking off the magic that had cause them to fall apart. And if anything, seemed even more angry for it, if bones could have an expression. Cernunnos stumbled backwards, but the wall of water that swept over the crowd knocked him painfully to his knees. That gave the monsters the opening they needed to reach for him, pounding on his back and head and arms with their macabre limbs.
"Be Free!" Cernunnos shouted again, desperate, an arm flailing before him as he tried to protect his head with the other. He felt something snap and pain lanced through his head as one of his horns broke, something hot beginning run down his face.
Two of them collapsed like before, scattering with a wet rattle, but one seemed to just hang onto its senses, wavering but still on its feet as the fog around him seemed to close in. Shapes moved within it and Cernunnos felt his heart leap in his throat.
He screamed, high, terrified, and helpless as he wrapped his arms around his injured head and huddled down, every part of him crying out for this to be a dream he could wake up from.
Sailor Scout Attack: Be Free.
Cernunnos reaches towards those around him and commands them to 'Be Free'. This AoE can affect anyone within ten feet of them, and lasts roughly 15 seconds. Their mind is immediately released from all mental/emotional/behavioral restraints to allow them to act and think freely. This will affect different characters differently, depending on their basic nature. In effect, they are unrestrained from societal expectations, biases, prejudices, shame, fear, anger, and/or responsibility/duty (at player discretion), to think clearly without the interference of outside forces/emotions. This may result in confusion, sudden decision paralysis, or just no longer having a reason to attack/fight as they are released from whatever was driving them. This may not stop people from fighting, even though they are no longer bound to their reason for doing so, if it's simply part of their inherent nature. He can use this up to three times.

Well. This was about the time she should use her magic, wasn't it? The immense skeleton before them was moving, its size and girth enough to send up a wave of water. Close as she was, and so surrounded by others as she was... Morgan didn't feel the urge to conserve her magic right then. Her hand shot out in front of her, magic funneling into her hand as a red energy bloomed from her palm. Up and up it went, forming a dome of ethereal stone walls and chained wooden doors--not perfect to block everything, unfortunately, as enough of the skeletons slipped through and some of the water... She felt one creature's claws at her back and winced.
But it was better than nothing in her book.

The Gate Stands Strong . . . . Morgan focuses her magic and her left hand glows red. Thrusting her hand upward, a barrier begins to form. A large, ethereal stone wall in a dome-like shape rises up ten feet above Morgan's head, and stretches in a radius of fifteen feet around her. Anyone who tries to look through the cracks between what appears to be barred and chained wooden doors and stone walls, would see brief glimpses of a very bizarre and otherworldly realm.
Deep Space Eternal Sailor Dagon HP: 46/100 Location: D8 Action: Attacking the boss with first-stage magic (indirect damage); experiencing low hp effects Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 4 = 14
Dagon was used to fear. The skeletons grasped at her, clawing, pulling, and another one joined the fray, but they were not her target. The great beast before her was.
Magic sprang up; Dunnottar's unicorns ripping through her skeletons, and Morgan's glimmering shield coming up to protect them all.
"Good work!" She said, pleased. And though the skeletons reformed, they seemed...more fragile. Less and less of the fungus covering their bones. More janky, strange construction; some were beginning to lose the humanoid shape, some were smaller, some didn't bother replacing single lost limbs.
"The small ones falter! The great beast will too! Do not fear the fog; there is naught in it but these sad little skeletons, and we will break them!"
The leviathan drew itself up, a sound of rattling and crunching as bones ground together, and let out a massive bellow. Fog poured from its mouth, but this was more than simple fog; it seemed animate, tangible, and as it touched the people fighting, it grasped at ankles, arms, torsos, trying to pull them forward.
Towards the shore, and towards the water.
Dagon herself was yanked off her feet, towards the edge of the massive stepping stone she stood on, and she scrambled to get a grip on its rough surface before she was pulled into the sea, angrily spitting out the call for her magic as it pulled her.
"Dreadful Aspect!"
There were things moving in the fog. Creatures, shapes. Strangely familiar, humanoid ones--
Dagon swore, for a moment, the monsters that had come conquering and slain the people she loved were back. As if the Chaos had resurrected them to use as its tools now.

MAP:
(Click for fullsize!)
Squares should be treated as 5 feet by 5 feet, so please consider that when using magical attacks!
Each character will be targeted by one additional fungal skeleton on top of any remaining from the last round; these skeletons now have 3 HP each and only do 2 DMG automatically. When destroyed, the skeletons will reform from whatever bone detritus they can find; this probably means they're going to get freakier the longer we go.
Damage is now divided if you choose to target the skeletons--for each multiple of five damage you do, one skeleton will be destroyed, but any not destroyed will persist into the next round.
If you choose to target the boss, all damage is applied to it, but all of your skeletons remain standing (unless someone kindly backs you up!).
Further, all characters will take 22 DMG from being yanked around by the strange fog tendrils, in addition to damage from the skeletons. Also, characters are pulled towards the water, but should not (yet?) be pulled in....
LOW HP MECHANICS:
If your character drops below half health, the fog begins to close in around them, and strange shapes begin to materialize within. The lower your character's HP gets, the clearer the shapes are, and they will always be things that cause characters great terror. If a character hits 0 HP, they are incapacitated by fear and can no longer fight.
Character Name and journal linkSuper Morgan of Gateways HP: 45-(11+4) 30 / 75 Location: D8 Action: Super magic, Shield; ignoring 4 skeletons on her, DreadOut. Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done:All of D8 gets halved damage for this round including those who enter the square this round, -11 for the fog tentacle damage and -1 per number of skeletons attacking your character.
"s**t," she hissed, watching as the massive skeleton continued to move and fog rolled dense and crawling from its jaws. More of the skeletons reformed from broken pieces around them, and Morgan tried to move somewhat away from the growing cluster clawing at her. Tentacles of fog reached out and grappled at people, one snagged her leg and jerked her forward towards the water. She at least remained upright, even if her leg now throbbed like a b***h from the grip of the thing...
She knew her rounds of magic were limited, but she pushed her hand upward again, forcing more of the red energy to collect and condense there. It once more radiated outward, up and beyond her and those more immediately near her. The ethereal red stone and sealed doorways once more settled into place, even as Morgan herself trembled and shook from the sensation of depleting her magic so rapidly.
And something sicker. Colder. It ate at the back of her mind, things slithering through the darkness and coiling closer to her just beyond her vision even as her eyes darted this way and that. She could feel it. It was waiting for her to fail and fall, and a cold dread weighed her limbs despite herself and the encouraging words Dagon had called out to them. Naught in the fog. It didn't feel like that. It felt like the exact opposite of that.

"Same," came her reply as she followed Solaris's finger to the skeletons that once again cobbled themselves together just barely long enough for Solaris to pick three of them apart with a snap of her fingers. "And agreed on the bigger fish to fry."
Before she could say more Dagon's voice cut through the chaotic sounds of everything going on around them. It buoyed her spirits, keeping her worst thoughts at bay as she watched the creature begin to draw itself up. Someone had already shielded them once, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have an extra layer of protection, so without a second thought Ekstrom raised her own shield, focused, and struck the ground to summon her forcefield. A light blue and glitchy dome erupted from her shield and began to expand, though there was something about it that caught her attention that she couldn't afford to worry about right that instant. She pushed it to the back of her mind, brows knitting together with the effort, and willed her focus to her magic instead. She cast it to spread out as far as she could manage, and watched as the fog now spewing from the creature's mouth came to life and began to attack.
