End of the line
Over the years Maslin had grown into himself, becoming a little wiser every day and a little more confident in himself. None of that seemed to matter when he found himself surrounded by his family who looked eagerly on as he approached his mother with a wooden box containing the two dragon souls he was expected to present to her. It had taken years for him to reach this point when he felt confident in saying that yes he had trained adequately enough to be recognized as no longer a child. He and he alone was responsible for himself and his actions now and he could and would protect himself and the camp when it was necessary. Maslin was soon to be view by his kin as a competent contributing member to the whole.
Like most he would be no warrior and soon was to be properly apprenticed under his uncle Mavros . Still, he had accomplished much more over the past few years than he had imagined possible. It had been interesting to learn just how strong he could be when he was pushed, even if he didn't enjoy much of the experience.
Quivering with a bit of nervousness he walked forward, until he reached the middle of the round tent where his mother stood, Lazuli sitting proudly by her side.
He carefully extended out his arms and handed her the box, not quite sure what to say. There weren't any traditional words for the moment according to the family.
Maslin watched carefully, his blue eyes focused soley on his mother as she opened the box and examined the dragon souls inside. On the left was a bright green Ayrala soul. The poison spewing beasts had bested him many times in the past but they were no longer a concern now. To it's right sat an Ayrala soul, these dragons, natives of the continent of Ayr had been problematic for Maslin until he found the right strategy for them. Even now he wasn't keen on tangling with the wind harnessing dragons nor their smaller but no less dangerous drakein kin.
These were the two souls he'd opted to resent to his mother as proof of what he had learned and accomplished since she has first set the task of truly growing up before him. They were not the greatest of his souls but he had reserved the Peisio one due to it's sentimental value.
"Hmm these look just fine, you did a good job Maslin," his mother smiled at him as she lowered the lid of the box and Stepped forward to hug him causing the young man to blush. " I'm proud of you."
"We're all proud of you." his uncle added and there were murmurs of agreement throughout the crowded tent.
" Very proud" Lazuli echoed, taking the moment to speak, an act which was rare for his bonded drakein.
Though he had fought against this for long and was grateful his days as a hunter were over Maslin could not deny that having everyone acknowledge his accomplishments felt much better than he had ever imagined.
