Kiandri did not belong on Serenia, the lightning aligned dragon's home was a desert continent, not the lush peaceful lands that Maslin called home. One however had made the journey over and had recently been terrorizing the local small towns. Maslin's family had been passing through the area and he'd been sent to hunt down the menace. Despite his dovaa clan alignment putting him at a disadvantage and the fact that he been oh so done with this dragon hunting nonsense ages ago. He was capable of helping and it would help the caravan win over people's favour if they could fell the dragon.
Stomping through the forest the hybrid followed the static in the air towards where the massive golden brown dragon was tearing up some sort of plant, perhaps trying to heal itself? It had taken some damage from the local townspeople earlier but they had not been able to kill the beast before it had fled the town.
This would not be easy, Lazuli had stayed back with the caravan lest the dragon attack the caravan while most of it's warriors were out looking for the creature. Not that the peisio drakein was well equipped to fight a Kiandri dragon either. Maslin would have to fight this out alone and he did not have the element of surprise in his favour as the dragon craned it's neck and turned to stare at him.
Maslin did not move forward but instead reached for his scepter and backed slowly away. Perhaps if he could blind the beast first he could put the odds in his favour.

Rosetta had heard about the strange orange dragon that had been messing with people in the city. It was farther away, so she reassured herself that she would be safe from it. So she unassumingly planned a small trek through the woods to get some fresh air and to clear her mind. She packed some tea in a small jug and twisted the cork on tight so it wouldn’t spill. She packed some scones she had in her pantry as well as some cookies that she had made earlier that week. She carefully moved her wand, which was carefully and meticulously wrapped in a white silken cloth, into her bag. She slipped on her boots, brushed her bangs out of her eyes, and set off into the forest. The moment she entered the deeper woods, she felt something different in the air. She ran through the possibilities in her brain, but couldn’t put her finger on it. She continued on her way when she noticed that her tight red curls started to separate, strands of red raising upward toward the trees. How odd… She thought to herself, brushing past a particularly large brush. She entered a small clearing, and was perplexed to find that several of the taller trees had been charred and cracked. She had never seen anything unlike it before. Then the puzzle pieces began to fit. What she felt in the air was electricity. The trees had been marred by lightning strikes, but blue skies surrounded Serenia. There was a Kiandri dragon on the loose and was last sighted in the city. Panic seared through her veins, and before she knew it, she was bolting as far as she could away from the clearing. The forest blurred into greens and browns and golds and… blacks? She realized that she was following the path of charred and scarred trees instead of running away from them. She had come to a stop and turned her head. Low and behold, she saw it; a large orange dragon, its frame still as a statue and stiff with tention. She realized that its attention was on another orange figure, but this one appeared to be Magesecian. He appeared to have a scepter, and she realized that she could try to stun it for a second so the bigger, more experienced Magesecian could deal heavy damage and they might make it out alive. It appeared to already have injuries, which she guessed were from the townspeople trying to drive it away. They might actually have a chance at taking it down! Slowly, Rosetta raised a finger to her lips, signaling to stay quiet and still. She removed her silk-wrapped wand from her bag, dropped its delicate covering, and shot a ball of blinding light at the orange dragon. She hid behind a tree a split second later, hoping that she didn’t miss the beast and have it fry her to a crisp with a bolt of lightning.

Maslin had noticed the small red haired girl coming up behind the dragon but tried not to let the beast know it had more than one enemy. He kept his eyes mostly trained on the Kiandri until the orderite girl loosed her magic. Not wanting to be blinded himself he closed his eyes as the bright ball of magic approached and struck the orange hided beast. The blast stunned it and an outraged shriek was cut short.
Wasting no time Maslin summoned his own magic and rained down spears of solid light upon the creature. It took only a single barrage for the already wounded dragon to succumb to the combined injuries. It died fighting, sharp teeth snapping at empty air and tail thrashing as it's heart slowed and finally stopped, bringing the dragon's actions to a halt.
Maslin stared impassively at the slowly disintegrating carcass, the Kiandri was gone and shortly only it's soul would remain. Whatever it's reasons were for being on Serenia no one would ever know.

Rosetta peeked back around the tree when the dragon gave a piercing shriek. She had actually hit it! A split second later what looked like spears of light came raining down upon the orange beast. "Wow..." She watched, horrified, as the spears impaled the dragon, which fought until the very end. She brought a hand to cover her mouth as she watched the dead dragon disintegrate. She moved back around the tree and slid her back down its trunk, leaning on it for support. She had just killed her first dragon. Excitement coursed through her veins, but mixed with it was sorrow. The beast was only protecting itself, which is what anyone would have done if they were lost and wounded. Guilt washed over her as she deftly fiddled with her wand. Rosetta remembered that she was in the presence of another and quickly got up. She took a couple of steps toward him and curtseyed. "Thank you." she stood tall, and glanced back at the two tiny orbs that were the only remains of the Kiandri dragon. She Was puzzled by the man that stood before her, not completely sure what he was. He looked Orderite, but he had distinct traits of being Dovaa. She glanced at his scepter, realizing that he was the one who unleashed the spears of light. Realizing she was staring at him, she quickly dropped har gaze. Rosetta nervously fiddled with her wand in her hands, her gaze pointed back at the ground.

Maslin turned his head in the direction of the redheaded Orderite girl. She appeared to have come out of the fight unscathed. She seemed nervous though, he noted as she redirected her golden eyes to the forest floor. "You're welcome, but you did help too " Maslin felt it was always proper to give people credit where it was due. She had done a good job distracting and stunning the dragon, for all that she appeared to be even less likely to be the dragon hunting sort than he was. Then again mages came in all shapes and sizes and it was the strength of one's magic that mattered most.
There was a weary tone in the young man's voice though as he continued to speak and took a step closer towards the girl and the nearby soul orbs. Maslin had no doubt as to just why his companion had quickly gone from grateful to shy. " Yes I'm a hybrid, no I'm not going to hurt you or whatever other nonsense you've heard." The richly coloured feathers of his wings, which had emerged during the battle, rustled in agitation. He was not a monster like the creature they had just defeated. Nor should his blood be any cause for shame, had he not just proven himself!
Maslin clenched his jaw as he stared at the girl and waited for a response. He might think poorly of people but he had reason to. This girl had been given no cause to assume he was anything but an upstanding citizen of Serenia.

ladyumbra i know i've left this one hanging, but i thought i would post this and maybe one more depending on where you take it~ Rosetta startled a bit, flinching when his bright feathered wings rustled with what she supposed was anger. She took a tiny step back, afraid that she had upset the young man. He said that he wasn't going to hurt her, but his clenched jaw and tone of voice made her tremble slightly. "Oh dear... I-I-I'm s-sorry..." she hiccuped, fiddling with her fingers in a panicked manor. She had never heard of a hybrid before, let alone seen or conversed with one. She stumbled another step back, cowering by a tree. "I- I didn't...I should just...Just leave..." she stuttered terribly, shaking as she moved to pick up one of the orange orbs. She looked up once she had the small orb cradled in her small wan hands, worry and fear and shyness apparent in her features. She bit her lip, running her thumb over the glowing circle in her palm.

Hmm, perhaps he had judged the girl wrong after all and she was simply frightened of everything? It made Maslin feel a little guilty then, he remembered how much it stung to have every drakein he met assume the worst about him even when he was trying to be accommodating to them. Still, he couldn't help it, most of the time people were less than kind due to his being a hybrid, how was he to know just what caused her shyness and fear. " Go then," he replied with his best attempt at an impassive tone. Maslin simply wasn't in the mood to do the song and dance of figuring out whether or not this girl was a decent person. Especially since he'd likely never see her again. it just wasn't worth it.
