Rubbing the back of her neck uncomfortably, Erionda's toe caught on an outcrop of rock sticking out of the sand. Cursing as she tried to swallow against the dryness of her throat. How could she have been so stupid as to forget to bring more water. The books her father had left Erionda, warned her of the comforts and discomforts of choosing the Aiskala clan. She had thought they were exaggerations, or particular to her father alone. Perhaps it was genetic, in the end Erionda had learned that she dehydrated out in the sands of Eowyn faster than any other landmass.

Rubbing her throat uncomfortably, part of her was thankful she had left her Drakein companions back at home. They would be well protected from the heat. Thrusting her hand to cover her eyes, Erionda winced against a dust storm. She had learned quickly as a child not to lick her lips as she walked across the desert. No matter how dry and uncomfortable they felt, she would only end up swallowing mouthfuls of sand at best and intensify blisters at the worst. The small grains of sand that stuck to her lips, face and eyelashes gave slight protection against the sun while her hair added the rest.

Lifting the flask free from her belt, flicking the cap open Erionda took what was left of the swig of water. She was close to home and would no doubt make it. The rocky face offered protection for her house against the sand. She had thought the idea of building in Eowyns sandy ground insane. Later during the studies her father and mother had left behind, Rio had stumbled upon a small key. Curious to know more she had learned it belonged to a house on Aisko. Wherever that was.

Glancing at the slightly open door of her home Erionda's eye's narrowed. She was sure that door had been closed before she left for her trip to Ayr. Sneezing against a buildup of sand, Erionda pushed into her house.

"Laz, just admit that we're lost so you stop leading us in circles," Maslin sighed as he walked across the dusty landscape, training behind his long time drakein partner. during a particularly intense dragon battle and chase the pair had gotten Themselves turned around and were no longer sure which way lead back to the docks. While both man and drakein were capable of flying, neither was all that keen on the idea of trying to get home by themselves. Lazuli didn't take long flights often and Maslin could only travel as a ball of light, the extra weight on him was slowly becoming more muscle than fat but he was still too heavy for his wings to carry him comfortably.

Lazuli had taken to the air earlier to get a good look at their surroundings but nothing o the horizon had looked familiar. Now the Peisio drakein was trying to follow his insisted upon keen sense of smell back to the docks where they would inevitably have to wait several hours to half a day for the next ferry.

Lazuli sulked as he rounded the side of a cliff and a small building came into view. "I found a house!" he crowed and darted forward. He was a bit too large these days to just be barging into people's houses. The door was open though and he stuck his head, offering a cheery whistle to any occupants that might be inside. He was a friendly drakein, not a nasty aggressive feral.

Maslin sighed and hurried after his bonded, mentally berating Lazuli for taking such a risk. The heat was clearly getting to the drakein's brain.

A deep throaty growl resounded from the roof of the building. Uassae had been disturbed from his slumber by some strange noises around his home. Tilting his head to the side, listening intently Uassae's blue eyes narrowed. The sounds didn't match Lanzecki or Erionda. Shifting to push himself onto his feet, giving a shake to send off the remaining slumber from his body. Shifting to the edge he took flight towards the ground. The sight of an unfamiliar Drakein sent bristling shivers down his spine.

"Stop there." Uassae barked defensively.

Erionda spun around at the sound of a cheery whistle. Stopping dead in her tracks. Had Lanzecki been outside playing? Not up in his balcony with Uassae sleeping? Tilting her head to the side quizzically Erionda moved swiftly towards the front door. Jumping as her mismatched eyes settled on the head of a blue Drakein. She could hear Uassae's voice in the distance and relaxed a little. Her companion was already aware of the strangers presence. Had he been the one to open her front door? Timidly Erionda pushed her feet forward towards the door.

Lazuli gave a small started noise and pulled his head out of the doorway so he could better see just who had been growling at him. He was less than pleased to be finding himself so close to another full grown drakein. Lazuli had little love for his own kind, not with the way they treated him and his bonded. Still to be this close a humans dwelling and so protective of it, the peisio drakein assumed the other male was bonded as well and to the pretty girl he had briefly seen.

"I wasn't going to hurt anything, I just wanted to say hello," Lazuli replied defensively. His body remained in a fairly relaxed state, he and Maslin meant no harm to this pair.

"We just need directions," Maslin added as he came closer to the two drakein. He was prepared to fight if violence broke out but he'd much prefer not to.

Picking up her double edged sword from where it rested against the door frame, Erionda emerged from the house. Her mismatched eyes grazing over Lazuli, gripping the hilt of her sword defensively. It was rare visitors came, and when they did trouble often followed. Holding her hair back with her free hand Erionda recognized the passive posture of the blue Drakein. It didn't seem like it wanted to attack. The young Hybrid tilted her head to the side at the mention of wanting to say hello. Wild Drakein she had met didn't speak before attacking. So either this one was a one of a kind Feral and rather unique. OR.

One pale voilet eye and one ice blue eye searched the area until they settled upon Maslin. OR, he was bonded. Erionda smiled lightly. Her mind facinated with the beasts speech. Other than Uassae no other Drakein she had met had spoken a word. Keeping her sword lowered towards the ground Erionda relaxed her grip visibly. Her eyes still watching the man before her. It wasn't often Dovaa crossed her path. Turning her multi colored eyes away from him Erionda looked Uassae over before returning back through the door she had come.

Let them in Uassae, I am sure Lankecki is inside if I call on him. I'll help the Dovaa find his way home. The quicker we do that the quicker he can be gone. Keep an eye out though. I don't know if he's just pretending so I'll lower my guard to be killed.

Snorting irritably Uassae muttered. "Appears you have permission to enter. But don't try anything." With a great swoop of his wings Uassae removed himself from the immediate view.

Inside the house Erionda was carefully lifting her bare sword up onto the two small pegs on the wall. She had yet to find a good protective sheath for it, and didn't want the sand causing damage to her precious weapon.

Maslin had looked over the young girl who had come from the house carefully. He had been more than little surprised to find her features being those that would her a hybrid as well. Although he supposed it made sense then why she lived out here, hybrids had so few places they could go and live harassed. At least she seemed friendly enough and willing to help.

The young man rolled his eyes as the cranky Drakein flew off after giving them permission to follow the girl. Well at least a fight hadn't been necessary.

Lazuli, granted permission once again to enter a magescian dwelling was quick to follow the strange eyed girl inside. Carefully he made his way inside, leaving room for Maslin to follow. "Hello pretty girl, I am lazuli, he is Maslin, your bonded is grouchy like a feral."

Moving away from the wall to view the two visitors, Erionda nodded with a half smile. "Welcome." Moving to a large barrel of water off to the side of the room, Rio withdrew two glasses of cool water. A bonus to her clan, she could always make water cold enough to be refreshing. "I assume in this heat you enjoy your water cold?" Erionda's voice had come off more of a statement then a question. The hybrid offered a seat to Maslin as she smiled at Lazuli.

"Uassae is protective, and trusts very little. Give him some time, he may open up and surprise you." Turning to a few shelves on the far end of the room away from the barrel, she approached a large shelf. Drawing a book and several scrolls. Shifting back towards the table Erionda took a seat. "Directions may cost something in return. Especially from a Dovaa."

Pulling open the first scroll, Erionda's eyes shifted towards Maslin. "I need information on where I can find a smith to ma-" The apprentice found her words falling short as a soft questioning croon filled the room.

Lanzecki's small pale gray head partially poked around the corner to view the room's inhabitants. Unsure if it was safe to enter with two unfamiliar guests. His grey green eyes studied the room carefully before he entered. He head lowered as he approached Erionda with a soft Chirup. Laying his head on her lap. Gaining an affectionate rub in return.

This girl was only the second Aiskala Maslin had ever encountered and the first that was a hybrid.

She is strong like the other, to live out here, Lazuli commented through the bond. And much prettier.

Maslin resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Lazuli as he took and seat and gratefully accepted the water. As a Peisio he'd been in no danger of dehydrating but a nice cool drink was appreciated.

Dark blue eyes did narrow when the girl demanded payment in return for getting them back on the right track. Really, she wasn't going to just help them to get them out of he- oh. She thought he was a Dovaa and likely the antagonistic sort that would have driven her family from the celestial realm. A place he himself had never been despite his ability to pass quite easily as a pureblooded dovaa as long as his back was covered.

Before Maslin could correct the girl or even ask her name, another drakein appeared. This one a small grey keinling that was admittedly rather cute.

Lazuli eyed the smaller Drakein carefully for a moment before offering a friendly whistle to his shy kin. He then turned his head to look more squarely at the strange pretty girl. "Maslin is not all dovaa and the part he is is Peisio which is best." Even as an adult Lazuli held to his stubborn clan based bias although he had never hated or rejected any simply due to their choice or birth circumstances.

Lanzecki gave a soft whistle in return to Lazuli's. The larger Drakein didn't often pay much attention to him, and he had willingly granted them the same response. Lifting his two front paws under his chin as Erionda continued to pet the top of his head. His eyes rolling closed. He was far more interested in Erionda's attention.

Ah, so he wasn't just another Dovaa out hunting her for some reward. She had heard of such postings within the local town. Most had failed to find her or trap her and only rumor of her existence was really know. In order to get into the town, Erionda had to hide herself under her cloak. Many assumed she was a Dovaa with her horns the only thing's they could see.

Tilting her head to the side Erionda wordlessly studied the young man before her. Turning her gaze towards Lazuli before turning back again with a dejected sigh. Rolling up a single scroll, Erionda moved to stand up against Lanzecki's protesting creel. No one would lie about being a hybrid. It was considered an insult to their race. She had learned that lesson on Serenia.

Downing the glass of water Erionda returned to fill it again. "Must be Orderite. You're far to light to be Oblivionite." Laying the scroll against the edge of the table as she sat down again. Erionda opened another scroll, taking a sip of her water. "Where is it you're trying to go?"

"We're headed to whichever of the docks is closest to here," Maslin replied. " We ended up a little lost during a dragon hunt." Being Peisio might have allowed them to find water easier but they'd still have ended up just wandering the coastline for hours without proper directions.

"Just who are you, what are you doing out here alone aside from some drakein and what exactly do you want a smith for?" Now that the other hybrid was being more cooperative Maslin was potentially willing to help.

"The closest docks." Erionda mused. The hybrid reached towards the center of the table and pulled an inkjar and quill towards her. Securing the open scroll the hybrid began drawing a detailed map of the area. "Taliuma lays just to the south of here. It's a half days journey on foot. That's the closest port to here. I'm sure you're aware to keep a watchful eye as you move through the area? Kiandri are flourishing this time of year. And hide quite well in the sands especially after a storm."

Lanzecki gave a chattering trill at the mention of a storm and moved his head up closer to Erionda's chin. Sending images and messages through the bond. Erionda's eyes flickered down towards the keinling, then to the window. Pausing as she was asked several questions.

Placing a cap on the ink jar. Erionda moved it towards it's previous location. Her elbow resting on the edge of the table. Her chin in the palm of her hand. Casually looking Maslin over Erionda blinked before speaking. "Erionda, it's my name. As for why I live out here alone, well..." Erionda's eyes moved towards the window with a cold stare. "The demonic dragons killed my parents, left me with a maid. I thought she cared, until I found the true reasons behind her actions. She and Aquon wanted to control me." Her hands balled into fists as she spoke.

"As for why I'm searching for a smith." Erionda's mismatched eyes moved towards her sword along the wall. "I need a shield. And a good one. When I had the choice of weapons, against Ytauya and Aquon's wishes I chose a sword instead of a staff. The sword is strong and swift. But I need a shield to balance out the attack and defense."

Pulling some sand from a jar beside the ink pot, the hybrid sprinkled it over the ink. Lanzecki shifted off with a warning chirp before scooting upstairs.

Lazuli did not look forward into running into Kiandri drakein or dragons, they were so very hard for a Peisio to fight. Still if they moved swiftly he and Maslin could avoid gaining their attention and make it back to the docks before it was dark and they were at an even bigger disadvantage.

The normally cheerful drakein wanted to comfort the little keinling but he seemed far more interested in affection from his bonded.

You were the same once Maslin noted through the bond.

Lazuli responded only with a mental pout and some firm denial of that statement. He had always liked people all people, especially pretty girls and magical ones.

Maslin left Laz to his sulking with a gentle mental pat before refocusing on Erionda. Her story was tragic and only served to reaffirm Maslin's feelings that most people were untrustworthy and to be avoided. It did not help the girl any that she was a hybrid. At least she didn't seem worn down by it all. She had a lot of fight to her and the skills and support needed to survive on her own. It was quite admirable.

She is also very pretty Lazuli added.

Maslin opted to ignore that comment and instead to reply to Erionda "Thank you for the directions and map, if you like I could forge a shield for you. I am not the greatest smith in all of Serenia but I'm more than competent."

"He can add magic and pretty designs" Lazuli added, more than willing to boast for his bonded.

Blowing the sand off the paper, checking to make sure the ink was completely dry the Hybrid looked up. She glanced him over before turning to look at the bonded Drakein beside him. Shrugging she turned her eyes back to Maslin. "I have metal in the back of the house, I'm not sure how useful it is. Or even if the quality is that great. But you're welcome to it. If you would rather I can guide you through a safe path to the docks. Kiandri don't bother me here. They fear me."

Mismatched eyes watched the Drakein. Her mind wondering just what kind of clan it belonged too. Just because it was blue didn't mean it was a Peisio. Sometimes colors were deceiving. His personality was very different from either Lanzecki or Uassae, it was almost welcoming to see a difference. She gave the Drakein a warm smile, standing up she moved towards the cupboards to find a piece of meat to offer Lazuli. "I do like designs." Erionda mused finally pulling out the meat and holding her hand out. "Is it alright to offer him this?" Erionda asked of Maslin. Her weakness towards the Drakein species evident as she searched the Peisio over.

"It's fine provided you don't mind his begging you for food again later," Maslin had seen Lazuli latch onto people who fed him enough times to know what the outcome would be. His bonded was too civilized to steal or beg like a wild animal but Lazuli was not above slyly sidling up to a person and asking if they wanted to share.

If they give once, they may give again Lazuli noted and he stepped forward and stretched his neck out so as to be able to gingerly pluck the meat from Erionda's hand. He was willing to share with those he had shared with before, why wasn't everyone else the same.

Maslin just chuckled softly before speaking again "I'm most comfortable working with the metal I use at home and you're welcome to take us to the docks if it's not an inconvenience." It was not easy for he and Lazuli to deal with Kiandri but they could manage on their own, especially given Maslin's light magic. That and they were just as likely to run into Firani here and it only took one warning blast of water to scatter those like they were baby herdbeasts.
