Solo 3:

"My very first loss."

Solo Three
Serandite was sitting on top of the dormitory building. With supplies she had pilfered from the school's healthroom. Bandages and disinfectant sat around her in different little piles, a cotton swab in her hand soaked with disinfectant. A loud hiss escaped her pink lips, brown eyes wincing as a burning searing pain shot through her, the disinfectant meeting her scrapes. She learned.. it's pretty difficult to bandage yourself.

Well, losing wasn't as bad as she thought. Although it did leave a bitter taste in her mouth, her defeat to Pegasus and Flora. One loss wasn't a huge deal. After all, Serandite knew she had to lose sometime. But she would need to be prepared next time. She hadn't been too injured except for the occasional coughing and sneezing afterwards. And these scrapes that she was bandaging and disinfecting. But her body hurt all over. Perhaps it was an effect of Flora's attack mingled with the fact she had been out all these nights. It was taking a pretty harsh toll.

Her first defeat hadn't been too bad. If only the damned senshi hadn't waved-- Well, it was likely Serandite might have lost anyways. But overall, it didn't affect her as much as she might have thought it would. Perhaps it was due to her own flippant nature, Serandite thought, pulling a bandage over her shoulder, taping the bandage on, flinching as it touched her raw skin. Ouch.

One thing was for sure. She would definitely need a re-match with those two again. Or better yet, one-on-one. But senshi pairing up? How odd. Perhaps Serandite could take some new recruit and make it a two-on-two battle. Perhaps she coud ask Charonite about it in the future.. Although she definitely didn't want to admit that she had lost. His reaction was one she couldn't even imagine. Considering Serandite didn't know too much about the general-king. She had only met him when he corrupted her starseed. All she knew for sure was that he was a scary scary man. And she wasn't about to tell him that she had lost a battle. Sure, she had tied in several battles and hadn't succesfully stolen their starseed.. But she didn't outright lose.

Serandite yawned, her hand came up instinctively to cover her mouth, an indication she needed to go sleep. Perhaps she could stash these health supplies into the drawer of her dorm room. She needed to be quiet considering that Skye was probably sleeping and she couldn't very well explain this situation to her roommate. Serandite tiredly rubbed her eyes, gathering the medical supplies into a box that she had also pilfered.

Phasing back into her normal casual clothes, she closed the box, picking it up, intending to tuck it somewhere on her side of the dorm room. She opened the window and crawled into her room, tucking herself under the covers. The medicine box was under her bed for now.

.... And the stuffed animal count she slept with for the night had mysteriously upped from one to fifteen. Her roommate would certainly be baffled the next morning from this unusual sight in the morning.

Solo 4:

"Distasteful Events~"

Solo 4

Serah was on one of her rare visits home, dining in a restaurant with her mother. She sat across the table in a pompous and high-class manner, looking across the table at Serah. Of course, the usual questions were asked, how was school, how she was doing and all that typical stuff. Serah wished her happy father was here to lighten the mood. Well, it didn’t matter now anyways.

“Serah. I’ve heard about distasteful events that have been on the news lately. The senshi and the negaverse. It’s quite revolting and disgusting to see such base characters.” Serah’s mother made a sound of distaste, picking up her fork to lightly spear a chunk of neatly cut meat. “You must take care to avoid all those ruffians. But as long as you stay on Crystal Academy’s safe campus, you should be fine.” She reached over to pat Serah’s cheek. “How are your injuries coming along? It’s horrible to think a stray baseball could hit you and knock you back down the stairs. Imagine that, a baseball flying out of nowhere. I suppose it wouldn’t help now anyways.”

The elaborate story that Serah had told her mother to explain the cause of her injuries from her various battles with the senshi was quite realistic.. considering that her mother hardly knew anything of a teenager’s life. At least she didn’t now. She had grown to a ‘prim and proper’ adult. Serah wanted to burst out laughing. Ruffians? How would her mother feel if she knew that Serah was one of those ruffians? And she thought Crystal Academy was safe? The school was swarming with hidden senshi and negaverse. Oh, this was priceless.

“I’m fine. On the topic of those recent events you mentioned... I’m sure that the negaverse and senshi have their own reasons for fighting. Honestly I believe it’s the public that’s making such a ruckus. The public’s just scared that they’ll be targeted next----“

“Serah!” Her sentence was cut off by a sharp acrid word from her mother, Serah looked up innocently, directing her purposefully innocent gaze on her mother. “I don’t want to hear you speak of that again. I don’t like the way you’re being influenced. Obviously, ruffians should be handled before they get out of control. Don’t act rebellious towards me, young lady. It’s bad enough that your father thinks that this whole superhero business is funny but I don’t need you to add your opinions as well.” Her mother’s calm composure had been broken by her piercing expression, his chin tipped high to address Serah’s ‘disobedience.’ Serah wanted to giggle at this point at her mother’s ignorance. It was such amusement to have her mother on the ignorant side.. Here, an enemy.. a ‘ruffian’ stood in front of her and she would never suspect such a thing. Besides, her mother’s opinion of her, Serah couldn’t care less. How would her dad react to finding out that his precious daughter stole people’s starseeds and was a ‘bad guy?’ Hm. He might laugh over it as well and take it as a joke. Oh well.

“I don’t see how this is my fault. Honesty’s a virtue, right?” She said in reply, meeting her mother’s frowning face with a smile. Serah’s mother looked at her, never understanding how she had come to raise such a flippant child. Meanwhile, Serah was thinking in her mind, that her mother's ideals were ridiculous. The fact she expected Serah to follow it was even more so. Serah had her values. Her mom could keep hers and stuff it. It was just her and the negaverse. That was all Serah needed.

Solo 5:

"Pitifully lost."

Solo 5

Serandite crawled up in her comfortable bed at Crystal Academy dorms. She had been missing for several days and luckily, her phone’s battery was dead. That meant she couldn’t get any annoying calls from her mother. She had been staying at Tisiphone’s apartment for several days just to have her wounds swell down for a bit. Now, she was back at “home,” sneaking back in when Skye was out. Not home for long -- only to pick up some clothes while she rested at Tisiphone's apartment for a day or so more. She had made sure that her roommate, Skye, was out, not wanting to deal with unnecessary questions at the moment. A glance at her compact mirror (naturally, a bunny design) had her flinching at her bruised face. Never before had her face looked so horrendous. But at least... it wouldn’t scar? Kunzite had only just stabbed her in the eye and slapped her countless times after all. Her body hurt all over. The pain was too much for a normal small-framed girl such as herself. She understood why Khalla had taken the pain so seriously. Serandite had made light of it, not thinking of it too much.. but it really hurt. Really.

She sat there in the corner of her bed, clutching her recently patched up bunny. She buried her head into her arms on top of her knees, curled up in the corner. She was dressed in a flimsy show nightgown, the various scrapes and bruises healing on her body. Lately, she had been an emotional wreck. She didn’t know what to believe in anymore. She hated this about herself. She had never been an indecisive person that wavered. But that was exactly what was happening now. Her hands were damp with tears, a tissue box placed delicately next to her. She had experienced something close to death. And it had scared her like nothing else had. The experience would have been better if Charonite had yelled at her—But he didn’t. Not as much as she would have liked anyways. His reaction only made her feel worse. His reaction was almost-- dead. The negaverse had an extremely lethal enemy. Cavalier Kunzite. She would never forget that name.

The negaverse wasn’t fun or games as Serandite had believed. Tears welled up in her eyes as she recounted the experience. She was scared to fight again. To run into Kunzite again. What if there were stronger senshi out there? Would they seek to kill her as well? She had only escaped by Kunzite’s allowances.. Tears dotted the bedsheet, leaving a wet trail as she hiccuped. The negaverse was all she had. And she wasn’t even sure if she could believe in it anymore. Charonite’s shoulder wound.. was no doubt, from Kunzite. It seemed as if they really were a losing side as the other had said.

"They had lost before."

Those confusing words.. meant that this war was happening again.. for the second time?

What should Serandite do? What should she believe in? Should she keep fighting? She certainly couldn’t leave the negaverse for her own safety. No, she couldn’t. She knew she had made a commitment.. but that option certainly sounded really good for now. She was lost and didn’t know what to do. Someone needed to guide her back.. to whatever path she needed to go. She wished desperately that someone could do it. She didn't have the strength nor the belief to hold on right now.

Anyone.. anybody.. Please tell me what I should do.

The thought echoed in her mind, her hair cast over her buried face, fingers clenching her knees tightly. Never before had she felt such a loss that seemed to pierce her very soul and shaken it up to the point where nothing seemed to matter. She was broken inside. Not the point of no return but she was getting there. Now that she had gotten a brush of death, she didn't want to get near it again.

Solo 6:

"Murderer"

Solo 6
It seemed like Serah often found herself in depressing situations like this. It was still afternoon, the light shining through the windows. She hugged her pillow, burying her face in it. The cat had told her some.. well, for lack of a better word.. some interesting facts. She had betrayed the negaverse bu putting that starseed back into that man. Just once. But it wasn’t a deed she could do again. But she didn’t want to murder again either.

Putting the starseed back in that man’s body.. left her with such conflicted emotions. Sure, she had been relieved to see the man come to life. She really had been. But it contradicted everything she fought for. To put it simply, a negaverse agent does not put starseeds back into people. But she wasn’t a murderer, was she? Even as she asked herself such a complicated question, she knew she was lying to herself.

Who was she joking?

Ignorance aside, Serah could be plainly labeled as a murderer. Polaris’s words couldn’t have been any louder than they were at this moment. Murderer. Just great. Her head sunk into the pillow, her body falling to the side on her bed. She closed her eyes, her breathing slowed as if she was going to fall asleep.

She did fall asleep.

An image of a black human shape swirled around her. His eyes were large horrifying swirls of darkness, blood dripped from the swirling eyes, dripping on Serandite’s face. A large eerie smile formed on his expression, his fingers sliding down the small frame of Serandite’s face slowly, over her widened eyes and gaping mouth as she tried to step back. But her legs were stuck. It wouldn’t budge—not even an inch.

“Ahaha. Scared now? Ooh—that’s precious!” His grating eerie crazed voice rang out through the black expanse of her dream, one hand cradled her ear while the other traveled over the soft skin of her face. “Oh, does it hurt? It should hurt! All those people you’ve taken, you never once considered that they wouldn’t wake up to see the next morning, did you? You know what? they didn’t!” The laughter rang through her mind now, his hand traveling down her arm to lift Serandite’s open palm towards herself.

“You don’t surely believe what that stupid cat told you right? She was just being naïve and nice. You don’t have any way out. You can’t be saved. Not after the lives you’ve taken.” Something sticky trailed all over her hands. Serandite was afraid to look down. Because she knew exactly what it was. His blackened eyes were still bleeding, covering Serandite’s hand with an ocean of blood. An never-ending puddle of blood surrounded her, staining her heels and her kimono. It was rising. And rising. Serandite was falling—drowning. The blood was too dense to move, her brown eyes could be captured in an image of pure horror and regret—and then the dream cracked like glass against a hard floor. The pieces fell downwards—Serandite fell downwards into the familiar blackness of dreams. And then---

She woke up.

Serah woke up with a start, sweating and shivering. What a contradiction. She groggily reached for her alarm clock, the bright pink numbers flashed across the small screen. Late afternoon. She hadn’t slept for long apparently. Apparently, the superstition had been true. You do get weird dreams when sleeping during the afternoon. Weird.. but true. Okay, sleeping wasn’t the best cure you could have in this situation. Actually, it was probably the worst. Serah scratched at her head with exasperation. This issue was bothering her A LOT more than she wanted to admit.

She didn’t want to be a murderer! Not at this young age—more like, not at ANY age. But her hands were figuratively stained with the murders of at least twenty people. And if she continued to be in the negaverse, it would grow to be much more. Guilt plagued Serah at every turn. All those bodies had been left there for the cold.. never to awaken again. She was responsible for crying family members out there. What was worse, Serah didn’t even know who she had killed. They were all nameless black figures that had meant nothing to her. But they meant something to someone out there. She didn’t even have the decency to know who had been her victims!

How could this possibly get any worse, Serandite didn’t even want to ponder the issue. AT ALL.

Solo 7:

"Dealing with it."

Quote:
She was a proud soldier of the negaverse. And she fought to see the negaverse win. The second greatest honor was to give someone else’s life for the negaverse. Nealite’s words echoed throughout her very soul, the corrupted part reveled in the captain’s words. Well, Queen Beryl now actually.

Apprently not the Queen when they had last spoken.

Did you really think you'd sign up for a war and not expect casualties?" Rohan’s words echoed through mind. She honestly hadn’t quite realized the weight of her actions. As she had realized in her discussion with Nealite, the chains that the negaverse held on you was heavy. Heavier than Serandite had faced in her entire life.

She buried her head in her pillow frustratedly. After she got past one hurdle, there was another one! First, her fear of death. The second issue following.. murder. What was next? She hated hated this issue. She thought she got over it. She really did. She had even decided it with Sailor Virgo—she fought to protect the allies she scared about from people like Kunzite. She vowed to get stronger to stand up against Kunzite on her own two feet—on equal footing with the girl. Oh wait, the man. She didn’t want to fear death in front of him again. If she had to murder people by doing so, so be it.

That was how Serandite thought she had solved it. Yet nightmares still plagued her consistently. It seemed so selfish. Selfish to use people’s lives for her own needs. It was different, trampling on people’s desires and feelings to get what she wanted. Different from taking lives. It was an entirely different level of selfishness.. or devotion. It depended how one took a look at it. She hated wavering. She despised it with all of her heart, having never been able to see why people couldn’t just stick to one belief. Why they couldn’t just man up and take it.

She was in the situation she most despised. She laughed without humor, curling up on her bed, where she was all too often found these days. Life had far too many hurdles. She wondered how other negaverse agents coped with this. The fact that they killed. Was she supposed to.. you know.. get used to it like they did? Rhodizite said that it was good that she was different.. but did she have to make herself like them to deal with it? Was there only one way to deal with it? She clenched her fingers tightly in her palm, gripping her blanket tightly, leaving indentations in the fabric.

Damnit.

If she had made her resolution, why did these pesky dreams still come to her every night? She didn’t like dreaming of a horrifying bunny any more than the next person did.
