This time, she struck near the mall. After all, giggling teenagers didn't pose any problem considering that most of them didn't know the first thing about combat. Which was quite different from regular fighting, which probably entails hair-pulling, scratching and insults when talking about the female population. Good god, Serandite would never participate in that.

A hand to her cheek in a mockingly distressed manner, Serandite thought to herself as she stood above the two unconscious bodies of two bumbling females. "It's quite the shame that you guys just had to take the dark alleyway shortcut home." Serandite said aloud, even though her words fell on deaf ears. This negaverse job.. was quite easy. Add up the power and weapon benefits, it almost seemed like you didn't have to do much with this job. Sure, fighting with senshis was a difficult task.. But senshis dont actually aim to take starseeds. In fact, the battle with Flora and Pegasus proved that senshis were do-gooders who seemed to have gotten the short end of the stick.

The very short short short end of the stick. The only up-side was getting the cute outfits actually.

Time to take their starseeds. Her hands plunged into their chests, the warm feeling of their lifeforce always brought a small thrill of power to Serandite's fingers. Under the impression they would awake later, she planned to leave their bodies somewhere comfortable.

"Freeze."

Serandite could only do so, if only out of surprise -- a figure was silhouetted in the mouth of the alleyway, or just inside the mouth. There was enough light to see by, though the old streetlamps colored everything with flickering yellow. Everything was unattractive in this light. The uniform of the person who stood between Serandite and one end of the alley was colored faintly by the light: Serandite could only assume that it was white. The white was broken by darker colors here and there: dark gauntlets, including the one on the arm which, outstretched, leveled a sword directly at her.

There was a woman (or a girl? tall, though) with a sword blocking the alleyway. She was not a senshi. Or, if she was, Serandite had never seen any senshi like her: she dressed like some kind of military officer from the 19th century. To be perfectly honest, she looked like she belonged to the Negaverse. But, given the circumstances altogether -- that seemed very, very unlikely at the moment.

"Freeze and let them go," said the woman again, staring. She had long dark hair and pale eyes of a color not quite discernable in the yellow light. "With their starseeds. Then raise your hands in the air and keep them there."

The voice behind her had her freezing in place, as ordered, turning around curiously, surveying this new intruder. In this dim lighting, Serandite could still clearly make out the person who stood behind her withdrawing her hands cautiously and slowly.

.. She had a sword. Judging by her military outfit, Serandite's first guess would be the negaverse. But given the situation.. a senshi? Since when did senshi have weapons? This was quite.. new, the lack of a better word.

"You're quite the pretty senshi. I'm quite loving your cape. Although that sword doesn't look so pretty, you know?" Serandite glanced warily at the sharp pointed edge of the blade, brown eyes assessing how much damage it could do. She didn't raise her hands in the air, she did straighten up to better see this intruder. Her hands were at her side harmlessly, one hand holding a drooping white bunny doll with a soft smile on Serandite's expression.

"Do you care to introduce yourself first Miss Senshi?" Serandite took a step back, keeping a wary distance between the two of them.

The blade twitched slightly. "Stop. You won't move unless I give you permission, Lieutenant."

This, really, seemed a bit of an arrogant forecast of the future, but a moment later the woman stepped further into the alley, keeping her sword steady. It was hard to tell how sharp a sword was. This one was sharp enough, definitely. At the moment it was about level with Serandite's collarbone, but it was a good few yards away and the woman appeared to be in no particular hurry.

She kept her eyes trained on Serandite nevertheless, and appeared to be evaluating something. On closer inspection, she was a girl: maybe a little older than Serandite, but not by much. There was something a little strange about her bearing and the way she walked, something difficult to put a finger on. It didn't quite all add up. None of it really added up. A girl dressed like a high-ranking officer of the Negaverse walking in demanding that Serandite cease and desist with normal everyday Negaverse sorts of activities. And there was more to it, too -- it didn't add up, really.

"Very well," said the girl. "My name is Kunzite. I am the Captain of the Cavaliers, who guard the Kingdom of Earth. I serve Endymion, the once and future ruler of Earth," her eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly, "the Prince of the Golden Kingdom and the Lord of Elysion. And I am offering you the opportunity to surrender. Now."

Until this senshi gave her permission..? Quite the demanding one, really. Never before had Serandite run into anyone that seemed of such.. high authority. Except for Charonite. But he didn't have the same air as this.. girl.

But her introduction seemed to answer some of the unasked questions that lingered in Serandite's mind. But it sparked even more confusing questions. Endymion? Who the hell was that? Cavaliers? .. Wait, what? Captain. Well, that explained her high authority. But Kunzite's next words seemed to draw Serandite out of curiousity, pulling her back into reality. "You really had me.. up until that surrender part, you know? But in comparison to your high ranking, I introduce myself as a lowly lieutenant, Serandite. Faithfully serving the continuously grumpy general, Charonite. Surrender.. isn't in my vocabulary, by the way!" On her last words, she leapt back onto a a trash-can and then onto the rooftop, moving as quickly as she could away from the sharp pointed edge of the sword, hopefully taking the other by surprise. As if her bunny wouldn't surprise the girl, already. Probably.

Her bunny leaped in sizes, the small white bunny suddenly became a large white mass that jumped down in an attempt to squash Kunzite, mimicking Serandite's jump as Serandite landed a long good distance from Kunzite's frame and her harmful sword. If it landed right, the bunny could probably hurt. A lot. Large weights of stuffing or not, it had to have some impact.. or so, Serandite hoped.

Kunzite took a measured step back as Serandite leapt up and glanced up to follow her, sword snapping up into what had to be a different ward. When the bunny jumped Kunzite took another step directly behind the last, if she were balancing on a narrow railing, and thrust her sword upward. Bunny landed on sword. The results were predictable. Was that really necessary? But Kunzite let the bunny fall and then unstuck her sword from it unceremoniously, gave it a kick out of her way and then strode forward.

She was tall. She crossed the distance between herself and Serandite in several long steps -- and then, for someone who'd had quite a lot to say before, she wasted no time in simply swinging her blade at Serandite's head.

Her bunny.. her bunny.. STABBED? Pain seared through Serandite's mind--her body crumpled to the ground at the sight of her beloved bunny stabbed, a light glimmer of tears in Serandite's brown eyes-- anybody who understood the difference between "combat" and simple "fighting" would know that a weapon was treated as a part of it's wielder's body-- precious to the wielder. Not even Castor or Pegasus had inflicted that much damage-- in fact, they had only ripped up the doll at most. One who knew the difference knew that a broken weapon was the worst that could happen. But.. hey, it was only stabbed. Still salvageable. But that wasn't factored into Serandite's thoughts at the moment.

But with her weapon out of reach, Serandite didn't have enough quick reflexes to match Kunzite's skill, the swinging sword couldn't be blocked, she thought, panicking, eyes dashing wildly at the close figure of Kunzite. Her crumpled frame couldn't find the strength to stand up... In a defensive gesture, her hands flew up to her head, several tears dripped down her face as she closed her eyes, squeezing it tightly shut, her fists clenched tightly-- This was her moment of death. If Kunzite slashed her head off, there would only be a messy death. The battle had hardly begun and already it was about to end-- After all, it was a lowly lieutenant facing a captain.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:02 pm

At the last moment Kunzite jerked the blade up. It glanced off Serandite's hands -- where it did, it left searing pain and blood that spilled down through her fingers and arms immediately -- and finished its arc in the air until it came down again to rest at Kunzite's side. She had deliberately spared her? There was no time to think about why; in the next moment Kunzite's gauntleted arm had come up and seized Serandite by the front of her shirt. Using this grip she shoved her into the wall behind her, Serandite's head colliding painfully with the brick, and kept her hold.

The blade came up under Serandite's chin, briskly cold, colder than it should have naturally been, and very, very sharp. Kunzite's eyes were only a few inches away from Serandite's now. Up close they were very pale blue.

"You should have surrendered, Lieutenant," she said, and the worst part was she didn't even sound angry, "when I offered you the chance."

Serandite would never admit it hurt. But it did. Very much so. She stopped her flow of tears, refusing to cry anymore as Kunzite shoved her painfully in the wall behind herself. Although for a normal girl, even a negaverse girl, it was difficult to keep from crying out as the back of her perfectly styled head met the cold wet wall, the blade immediately at Serandite's throat.

"Surrendering isn't in my vocabulary. L-Losing is an entirely different manner." Serandite said, at first shakily but stubbornly, fresh blood could be felt dripping downwards. Oh god, sword wounds hurt. This wasn't playing anymore-- It was Serandite's life. Never before had she straight out lost like this either. Oh, even the loss with Flora and Pegasus didn't slice so deeply like this. To be at the hands of an enemy.. literally.

"So what reason did you have to spare me? It certainly wasn't the sight of a little girl crying, was it?" Serandite asked, predicting that the other had more reasons than 'just feeling like it.' "Don't you dare say it was pity. I wont stand for that anymore than contempt." Even though Kunzite's last words were contemptuous enough, Serandite would let that remark slide. Not that she could do anything about it.

In response Kunzite backhanded her with one of her gauntlets, casual as anything. She was staring at her, down at her, lip curled in something -- contempt? Agitation? "I've got no reason to spare your life, Lieutenant." It was chilling how this Captain of, of whatever she was a Captain of continued to call her Lieutenant even now. As if to reinforce her point she took hold of a chunk of Serandite's hair to hold her still, but she didn't tug hard: just stared at her, implacable and unreadable as anything. "You don't take prisoners. We don't take prisoners."

She leaned in. "Mercy isn't permitted to me. It would be a dishonor to the Prince to let you go because of some kind of sentimental feeling. I need something from you." This time she yanked on Serandite's hair, not hard enough to pull it out but hard enough to hurt, and to crack her head against the brick again. "You're not interested in saving your own life? Speak up, Lieutenant."

Ouch. Her cheek was in a lot of pain now. Well, that was a comment that sorely deserved that treatment. Her hand lifted harmlessly to rub her cheek, another shot of dull pain shooting through as her sliced wound reached in contact with the salty trail of tears.

OW OW OW. Her hair-- her perfectly styled beautiful hair. Caught in the hands of Kunzite, she winced, another gasp of pain as her head hit against the wall again. Good god, hair-pulling? Really? This captain fought like a girl (besides the fact she IS a girl.) With the new round of pain, Serandite struggled to speak.

"S-So.. What do you need in exchange for my life?" Serandite asked, never faltering in her composed words, tipping up her chin in a defiant manner. Even as her sense of damaged pride and hate of this cavalier grew, Serandite also had to admire her flawlessly cold manner of battle. It was a manner that could only be gained from experience. Implying that this girl who stood in front of her was more than just a teenage girl.. She was something far beyond Serandite's level. but.. how? She wasn't that old. Serandite couldn't figure it out.

But this was quite a painful position. "Do we have to resort to hair-pulling? Really, I can answer you without it. Don't backhand me again---!" Serandite really did not want another hit, even though the other was likely to give another one. She winced in preparation for another hit.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:39 pm

Kunzite's hand fisted in her hair and yanked hard, yanked her head back, bending her backwards a little with a jolt of pain. "Don't make me do this," she said, though her voice remained rather even; "I have better things to do than waste my time disciplining brats like you, Lieutenant." She didn't backhand her; in fact, what she did was raise the pommel of her sword to Serandite's eye level and, before Serandite could derive what was going on, bash it hard into her face -- just shy of her nose, which would have been crushed by the impact. Instead she was blinded, in blinding pain, and sure to swell up into a black eye.

"I'm going to ask you questions," Kunzite was saying somewhere, "and you're going to give me truthful answers, and that's how you're going to survive this. You answer me true and I give you my word as a Cavalier that I'll let you go."

She didn't wait for Serandite to respond, or for the blindness and pain to cease, before she went on, "How many of you are there?"

OW. More yanking. But that didn't even compare to what came next, the blunt length of the sword's handle hitting her eye. Serandite rarely swore but she was swearing silently in her mind. s**t, this hurt a tremendous amount. OW OW. Being the distanced fighter she was, Serandite rarely dealt with any injuries such as this.

Serandite struggled to answer Kunzanite's questions, her injured hand now covering her eye. Oh god, she wasn't going to say anything else to set off Kunzite again. No way. She had enough body parts injured, thanks.

She hurriedly counted in her head. Nealite.. Obsidian.. Tobernite.. Tanzanite.. and Tisiphone. Including Charonite.. Well, Serandite hadn't really met anyone else. "I've met about six of them. Charonite doesn't inform his lieutenants of very much so I can't be sure. We meet each other coincidentally." She answered truthfully, deciding that this information she was speaking wasn't harmful to give. At this point, she was thankful she didn't have much to give to Kunzite.

Of course, that could mean the end of her life. If anything, she could make up something?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:55 pm

Kunzite didn't say anything for a moment, which was a little worrisome; it was starting to seem like she was dead set on beating the living tar out of Serandite and nothing would prevent her in this goal. But while she didn't let go of her, she didn't strike her again, either. She just fixed her with a look of scrutiny and, after a moment, nodded.

There was blood on Kunzite's white uniform -- no, Serandite's blood was on Kunzite's white uniform. Kunzite didn't seem to care. "Where do you meet?" she asked. "Where do you gather?"

Serandite complied her hasty and hesitant thoughts, deciding to be completely honest with this certain question. After all, sticking close to the truth or telling the truth was the only way. "I-I've only met Charonite once in the negaverse headquarters. He transported me in when he recruited me.. But I haven't been in the negaverse long enough to 'gather' anywhere. When he wants to talk to us, I assume he meets us wherever we are or teleports us in at his convenience." Serandite answered, her wound was still freshly open and her eye throbbed with pain. Slowly it was blackening.. Not quite yet though..

Oh god, it looks like another week of skipping school. No way was Serandite showing up at Crystal Academy with a fresh black eye.
