Title: Pantry Raid! Starring: Kinsey, Varun and Phiel Synopsis: Phiel comes to visit Kinsey at home. Varun does not respond well, but why?Memorable Quote Varun bit his lip and twitched his wings, tipping his head as he tried to consider Phiel's reply. Some of the words made sense to him. 'Happy, near, protect.' Some of the words he didn't understand. 'Sacrifice, comfort. Forgive.' He'd have to inquire after their meaning later, after this strange man had gone. Phiel, Kinsey's friend. Did he have his own friends? Varun would consider this later, right now, he had to deal with the matter at hand. Varun's Thoughts: Phi? No! Whatfor. Friend of Kinsey. Kinsey? Mine. Phi? No. No, no, no. No.
Kinsey's Thoughts: I haven't seen Phiel for so long! I haven't seen him for so long, it was really nice of him to visit. Varun, however, did not echo this sentiment. I have no idea what his problem was, but he was very unhappy the entire time Phiel was here. It wasn't like Phi was rude or unkind. Phi's very...well, he's very Phi. He'd never do anything to make Varun uncomfortable. But Vars just wouldn't settle, it was the strangest thing! I'd really like to see Phiel again soon, but...I'm not sure how well that would go over.

Title: Clean Up Aisle Four Starring: Varun, Kinsey, LuLu and Josh Synopsis: Kinsey and Varun go grocery shopping and run into a shy little Frei named LuLu. Vars finally gets through to her, or rather, gets her to speak with him and her guardian rushes her off.Memorable Quote Kinsey swallowed a sigh of relief and ignored the Raevan's scolding. "Good gods above, don't scare me like that," she said, ushering the brightly colored Frei back into the baking aisle. "Now, just stay with me for one minute and we can- Put that down, Varun."
Varun grunted and held the box of cereal close. That was his, okay. His, now. "No. Mine."
Kinsey groaned. Why did he pick up everything that caught his eyes? "Okay. Fine. I will buy you the Fruit Loops, just- Where are you going?" Varun's Thoughts: ...LuLu? Uh...strange words. Different. Fight, the words. Like sun and night. No sense. Strange, LuLu. But okay, maybe. Josh? No. Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Kinsey's Thoughts: Not a bad outing! LuLu was very sweet, and Josh was very pleasant. Varun even managed to make nice with the little rabbit Frei once he spooked her! Something to be proud of, I'd like to think. I'm not really sure why she was scared of him to begin with. He wasn't actually acting up. Maybe she was shy, or...? I have to wonder if it has anything to do with his soul. Something I'm gonna look into, I guess. As for Josh, he was very understand. I don't think Varun liked him, though. Perhaps because he took LuLu away?

Title: Trash is Treasure Starring: Varun, Kinsey, Riviner and Aphismet Synopsis: Kinsey and Vars head out to a flea market. They meet Aphismet and Riv, and Riv explains quite a few things to young Varun.
Memorable Quote "Umbrella," Varun sighed, tugging on Kinsey's sleeve as they mingled through the crowds. The Frei seemed to be impervious to any of the stares he received, simply fluttering his wings and tossing his hair now and then. He had more important things to do that pay any attention to strangers. He was on a mission, after all. Kinsey had promised him an umbrella and 'promise', Varun had recently discovered, was a very strong word. He would have an umbrella. Varun's Opinion: Riviner. Lots of things. Words? Yes! Many. Many words. Riv? Smart. Yes. Riv, yes.
Kinsey's Opinion: We met a Raevan and his owner at the flea market today, Riviner and Aphismet. They were both very nice, though Aphismet seemed a little nervous. Varun kept trying to filch things, but Riv kept him in line and explained a lot of stuff he didn't understand! He was very sweet. I'm not sure why Aphismet was so worried about him! He took good care of Varun. I like them both. I think Vars had a lot of fun, too.

something wicked this way comes
Title: Stranger Danger Starring: Varun, Kinsey, David and Prajna Synopsis: Kinsey and Vars head to the mall on an errand and run into another redhead. A battle for the ages ensues.
Memorable Quote Varun snarled, his usual expression of boredom long since gone. Prajna was shrieking at him, saying all sorts of stupid and meaningless things. Varun had enough. With an absolutely animalistic roar, he darted forward and latched onto the junction between shoulder and neck, sinking his teeth in as hard as he could as he started to exert pressure. Stupid Prajna. He'd show him.
His wings flared well out to the side, his hands clung to the other Raevan wildly, struggling to find balance as well as cause the other Frei as much physical damage as possible. Varun was out for blood and not just figuratively, as it seemed. He would make Prajna stop the down words. He did not deserve to be looked down at.
Kinsey swallowed nervously and nodded to the voice behind the door. Gods help her if Varun was terrorizing innocent-
"FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS, VARUN FINCH, YOU LET GO OF THAT RAEVAN RIGHT NOW."
Varun did no such thing. Varun's Opinion: Prajna. Good fighter. Bad words, and good words. Again, yes. Again. Must. Must be again. Prajna. Praaaajna.
Kinsey's Opinion: Okay, I'm not sure what the hell happened, but first they were FIGHTING and then Prajna gave Varun a HICKEY the size of freaking Mars. Which, I might add, he's incredibly proud of. I don't think he actually realizes what it is, but I don't think I want to tell him. Whatever the case, I have never seen him so aggressive! It was frightening! He didn't listen at all. Perhaps that's finally the leviathan's soul rearing it's ugly head? I'll have to keep a close eye on him, but something to note. The scales on his wings had turned black during the fight.

Title: Window Shoppers Starring: Varun, Kinsey, and Tariel Synopsis: Kinsey takes Varun to the mall, where he gets bombarded by Tari. The two click and zip around the mall for some good old-fashioned fun.
Quote: "C'mon Vars."
Varun slinked along behind his guardian, twirling a finger through his hair as he paused to stop and peer into each shop window. Kinsey had said they were here for something specific and that if he was good (and by good, she meant no kissing Raevans he'd only just met, and no biting them either!), she'd let him get a book from the store on their way out. Hurrying along, however, was not part of the deal and the aquatic Frei would have absoutely none of this hand-tugging his guardian seemed so keen on.
Kinsey gave a great sigh and pushed her dark hair out of her face, the rubies on her face catching a stray beam of sunshine from the windows above. It was an absolutely gorgeous day out. All she needed was a pair of shoes for jogging, one pair of shoes!, and taking Varun along had turned a ten minute trip into a three hour adventure. It certainly felt like three hours, anyways. Her stomach rumbled and Kinsey groaned, glancing over her shoulder at her charge. "Varun. Come ON."
Varun snorted and flared out both sets of fins, green eyes narrowing as he continued at his steady pace. "No. Tell not Varun. Will come. Time." If she was going to drag him out, she was going to do what he liked. Varun smirked to himself, stopping in front of a window with pants. Varun grunted and looked down at his ribbon. "Pants," he snorted. Varun's Opinion: Tari! Great fun! Must do that, see her again. Must! Much, much fun, Tari.
Kinsey's Opinion: ...yeah. Yeah, he's not really good with people.

Title: Pool Party! Starring: Many! Synopsis: Varun and Kinsey go to the pool party. Varun runs into LuLu and meets Domo. He instigates a water fight.
Memorable Moment "Again? Never!"
Kinsey watched helplessly as her Raevan squalled beside her, pressed against the glass window as the bus hit another pothole. She cringed at the dull thump, watching Varun smack his head against the glass unexpectedly. She had warned him about being so close to windows. (Albeit, she was more concerned with germs and other nasty things, but the Frei had hit his head three times now and for whatever reason, her clever little Raevan was absolutely refusing to engage his brain and float a little further back.) Varun whined again and snapped open his wings and fins, shying slightly when he hit his guardian by accident.
"Jesus, Varun, calm down!" The officer sighed and pushed her hair behind her ears. "We'll be there soon, okay?" Varun's Opinion: Water war! Do want. Water. Yes.
Kinsey's Opinion: He was well-behaved. Reasonably. But I think I can keep taking him out in public. The bus, on the other hand. Here I was worried he'd be a window-licker, and instead he just keeps getting his head smacked. And I thought he was supposed to be clever.

Title: Before the Wrecking Ball Comes Starring: Varun and Rivener Synopsis: Varun wanders off from Kinsey's office and runs into Rivener. He models for his photos!
Quote: Varun tipped his head, breifly trying to figure out what the older Raevan was holding before responding. "Work," he replied shortly, wrinkling his nose with obvious distaste. "Work always. Whatfor? 'Need money, Varun! You much cost!'" The Leviathan shook his head. Money was such a strange concept; why couldn't he just take what he wanted? Everyone always let him, even if he had to glare a little bit. "Work? Boring."
Varun nodded sagely and floated closer to the Sigel, still inspecting the odd gadget he was holding. He didn't recognize it at all. It was very strange looking, with one eye, but it didn't seem like it was still alive. Was it dead? The redhead wrinkled his nose. Why was Rivener playing with dead things? "Demolition, yes? Rivener too?" The Raevan asked, lapsing back into his unique speech pattern as he made idle conversation. He knew how to speak better, but he didn't seem find the need when he wasn't with females. Varun's Opinion: Paper Varun. Was good. Rivener is good, know many things. Teach Varun many things. Paper Varun.
Kinsey's Opinion: ...paper Varun? Yeah, because he needs a bigger ego. I have no idea where he got this thing, he won't tell me. Why is Varun letting people take pictures of him!?

when the going gets rough
Title: Lucia's Pre-Halloween Extravaganza Starring: Everoyne! Synopsis: Varun attends Lucia's Halloween party and picks a fight with his friend Rivener for treating some girls badly. Varun loses the fight, badly. But what little he knows, what Rivener's sting carries.
Memorable Moment "Get closer and I will kill you," Varun hissed, even if he was in no position to do so. It was clear, however, that the battle had knocked him far from his normal state of being; the sudden shift from third-person to first-person always heralded a change in Varun's behavior.
"RIVENER!" he roared, still trying to fight the older Raevan off (and trying so very hard to ignore the pulsing pain in his shoulder, though it was obvious the Frei's strength was quickly failing him) "Stop using stupid tricks and honestly fight!" Varun's Opinion: RIVENER. No. Wrong. It was wrong and dirty fight. Varun will NOT lose again. Not in front of friends and not for the girls. No.
Kinsey's Opinion: Sometimes I want to smack Varun upside the head, but an outright attack? I don't think that was needed! I mean, I know Vars can be very, very confrontational. But...but...I don't even know what to say! Rivener seemed like a nice guy, too! Well, I guess appearances can be deceiving, but...I hope Varun will be okay. His ego took a serious blow from that a**-kicking he got. He needed to be knocked down a peg or two, not taken of the entire board. Jeez. I think I'm going to keep him away from Rivener from now own.

 the calm
"Kinsey. Hurts."
Kinsey looked up from the pot she was stirring, glancing at the Raevan floating in the middle of the tiny kitchen. Frowning, she tipped her head. "What hurts, baby? You bump into anything?" she asked, looking for blood or any other signs of obvious injury. "You weren't rough housing with the dog again, were you?
"Not a baby," Varun insisted disdainfully, wrinkling his nose as he floated a little closer. Not stupid dog, either. Just hurt. Everywhere. No reason."
Brows furrowing a little more, the young woman switched the heat off and removed the pot from the burner. Rubbing the rubies beneath her eye tiredly, she sighed and strolled over to Varun's side. "You have to show me, Vars. I don't read minds, you know. You have to show me what hurts."
Varun held up his hands, cringing visibly. He was shaking. Visibly.
"Hurts," he whined again, breathless. He dropped his limbs to his side as soon as he was sure his guardian had gotten a good look, wings twitching ever so slightly as he waited for his Kinsey to do something, say something. She was never organized, his Kinsey, and she was quite often more frazzled and more spread out than he, but she always had an answer for him. They had not been together that long (though, to be contrary, Varun had known her for his life, and that was the longest span of time he knew), but the Leviathan was positive his Kinsey would always have an answer for him.
She was his and he was hers, and that was the way things were meant to be. He was positive that this was Truth; his hyper protection of the young woman had not been unfounded. Varun had never considered his burning desire to protect his Kinsey from harm until this very moment, but even after sparring it a moment of thought, he knew it was simply something he must do, or he would lose her. Lose her like he lost... Frowning slightly, he shook his head. Kinsey had been all there was. He had never lost anyone before that.
"Vars? Varun, hey, are you listening?"
The Frei snapped his attention back to his guardian. "Always," he replied, illustrating his undying loyalty to the woman one more time.
Kinsey gave him an odd little smile and chuckled. "Yeah, save it. Look, hun, I think you're still sore from your...wild party antic." Avoid the word fight at all costs! "This why you've been snarling at everyone? You were just sore? You can tell me next time, okay?" Chuckling, she motioned towards the couch. "You just go settle down, okay? I'll go get you some ice for your wrists. And next time, you think before you hit someone, okay?"
Varun just nodded, bright green eyes following Kinsey all the way until she disappeared into the bathroom. Having not the strength of will to tell his guardian he hadn't landed a single punch, the Leviathan drifted to the couch and did as his woman said, settling down and allowing her to set ice packs over his wrists and fingers. It didn't help. He didn't have the heart to tell her that, either.

Title: Growing Pains Starring: Varun, Kinsey, Prajna, Namini, Xiu and Hazeline Synopsis: Kinsey is still unaware Varun is sick. Under the assumption his behavioral changes are a response to getting his a** kicked and taking a seriously blow to his ego, she takes him to visit Prajna in hopes his friend will lift his mood. Too bad Prajna already has another visitor!
Quote: The Leviathan cackled happily and Kinsey skittered over, eyes widening when she realized what Varun had done. Creating a forceful whirlpool in the tiny sink, he'd slammed to cups together. Wait. Wait. Whirlpool?
"When the hell did you learn to do that?" she demanded, reaching over to pull the young Raevan's hands out of the water, despite the fact the cool water felt good on his raging joints. As soon as he allowed her to remove him, the spiral ceased and what remained of Kinsey's dishware quickly settled to the bottom. "You sank all of my cups, Varun," she deadpanned.
The Leviathan preened as though the simple observation was a compliment of the highest order. "Yes," he agreed, nodding sagely. "Cups in Varun's water. Not for cups. For Varun. Cups must go." Varun's Opinion: Stupid stupid stupid! Varun is not Rivener! Varun will never be Rivener! I am not Rivener! How dare they, how dare they!
Kinsey's Opinion: ...I'm starting to think I should never bring him out. Ever. All he does is fight, fight, fight. Maybe there's something wrong with him. Or maybe there's just something wrong with his ego. Ug.

 the storm
Kinsey just didn't understand.
She just didn't understand. His woman didn't understand him. His stupid, useless, clueless, beautiful, wonderful woman. He was so confused. What was she? Who he was he?
Blinking, Varun shook his head. He needed to stop thinking so hard. The thoughts were strange to him, they were a different flavor than the things that usually floated around his head. The thoughts were higher, putting the Leviathan on the pedestal he deserved. All the Frei could feel was this strange bitterness. Years of loneliness teased him from the depths, slowly leaking in and staining his thoughts in little tendrils, smaller fingers spreading and reaching farther and farther. It was a silent process and while the the spread might be painless, the result left a sharping aching in his chest.
I love you.
Varun jerked off the couch, eyes wide as he looked around wildly. "Who goes?" he cried, floating off the couch for a look around. "Kinsey? It was too early for Kinsey to come home; he never heard the tumblers in the lock, never heard anyone step in. Flitting around the tiny apartment, Varun began to check each rook methodically. His guardian's room was locked, as always, but it only locked from the inside, so no one could have come through their. Opening his own door, the Frei peered into his own sanctuary. The light blue room was clean, just as he'd left it. The bed was made, his clothes were in the tiny closet, his few books sat on the nightstand untouched. His window was wide open, letting the cool fall air filter in. Inhaling deeply, he basked in the breeze for a moment, but it was no relief for the heat he felt coarsing through him. With a sigh of defeat, the sea creature floated backwards and shut his door. There was one room left to back, with no one in the kitchen/dining/living room.
Floating back up the hall a little ways, he leaned forward and twisted the handle, letting himself into the bathroom. There was no one-
A gentle crashing caught his attention. Pricking his headfins forward, Varun leaned forward. It was not the kind of crash when something fell, or when two objects collided. It was the sound of water meeting something before it. It was the sound of water colliding with... It was the sound of the shore! It was the mighty waves cresting and thundering down upon the sand, as it had done for thousands of years. The Leviathan felt a sharp yearning stab through him and shuddered, reaching for the knobs on the bathtub. Turning the cold knob as far as it would go, the Raevan didn't even think to take off his armor before he slid into the tub, turning on the shower head as well as he sank into the growing pool of water. It was frigid, sending a shiver rattling up his spin, but the cold felt so good, so right. No, this wasn't quite right.
Eyes flashing open (when did he close them?), the seasonal Frei hauled himself out of the tub, dripping all over the floor as he darted down the hallway and behind the wall that separated the kitchen from everything else. He had to find it. After a quick scan of the counters, Varun made for the cabinets, whipping the doors open with such great force some of the doors were ripping from their hinges, hanging limply in the Leviathan's wake. It took him but a moment to find the container he was looking for, and victory in hand, he raced back to the filling tub. The spout was far too slow, so Varun dug fingers in and with a cry of pain, ripped the top right off the container. He dumped the entire cylinder of salt into the tub and tossed the cardboard to the side, all but diving into the rising water. The salt stung his eyes, and all he could think was how right this felt.
We will be together forever. I was made for you. You are mine. I love you!
"Who are you?" Varun muttered weakly, not having enough strength to actually go and find the source of the rich voice. "Who are you? Where did you go?" That was not his voice. He didn't speaking like...yes, he did. He was wise, smart. He was a creature of great beginnings and greater endings. He was intelligent and verbose.
I know you are. I love you. Come. Let me love you.
Varun stilled, eyes sliding shut as his head lulled against the back of the bath tub. "Later," he whispered, sudden elegance leaving his voice as quickly as it had appeared. "Tired now. Varun will come later."
