✿ ❀ Isis knew Leon's stance on time tampering was similar to Atona's, but the fact that he supported her in spite of that was comforting. "Worst case scenario, we can dye it." Isis insisted with a smile, touching his streak of grey fondly. "Honestly though, I think the grey is handsome. The salt and pepper look suits you." She chuckled, though Isis could understand if he didn't necessarily want grey right now when he was still young. Still, it was a good sign for the future when he did naturally grey because it meant he'd age well.
Together they walked to a secluded area of the beach for Isis to let out Hinata. The celebi smiled and spun into the air, her bell tinkling happily as she did so. However, upon seeing Isis' serious face she frowned and tilted her head with a curious "Bi?""Sorry Hinata, but.... need your help again..." It felt like she always only called upon the celebi when she needed her power. Honestly, it made Isis feel bad. She would have loved to spend more time with Hinata on friendly terms, rather than simply to use her. "My friend Natalia.... She..." Isis frowned and struggled to get the words out, but Hinata's eyes seemed to flash with understanding. "Bi bi." She frowned and looked to Atona. "What??" Atona seemed rather surprised. "What? What is she saying?" Atona frowned, quite perplexed. "It seems that.... What happened to Natalia wasn't meant to occur." Now Isis felt even more confused. ”Well.... That's good right? All the more reason to fix it." Isis suggested slowly. "In a sense, yes... There is still a lot about time that you don't understand, Isis. Partially, that's because there was no need to get into all the intricate details, but now... It seems there's a need." He sighed. ”What else is there to understand?" Atona rubbed his head, not looking forward to explaining things. "We can discuss that after we've saved your friend." He insisted, looking to Hinata and nodding.
The faint tinkle of a bell rang in Isis' ears amidst a deafining silence, and before she knew it, they had been transported through time, two years into the past on three island. Sure enough, on the bridge leading out of the forest, Natalia was curled up on herself while Aiden carefully approached. ”Natalia…? It’s me… Aiden… It’s going to be alright, okay? I’m here with you… Just listen to me… Concentrate on my voice if you can, alright? I need you to stay with me…” He was speaking so delicately that Isis wondered if perhaps they had arrived too late. “....Stay? You want me to....” She trailed off. “I-I don't want to stay here.... Why would anyone want to stay in this house? It smells like flowers....” Natalia murmured, running her fingers through her hair repetitively. “I don't have to do what you tell me, you know. I don't have to listen to anyone. I can do whatever I want.... I can do whatever I want. I don't have to listen...” Natalia insisted, but then paused. "....Why doesn't anyone listen? No one's here. No one. Not one. One not. Not one day I'll fly.... Far far away and then.... No one will listen. Not one.... I-I don't have to.... listen...." Isis frowned. She'd never seen Natalia act this way. Nothing she said was making any sense. ”Atona...? What's going on?" Isis asked mentally, knowing it wasn't safe to speak out loud and reveal themselves in spite of knowing both Atona and Hinata were taking precautions to make sure they remained undetected.
Atona remained silent for a moment but he was clearly concentrating on something. "Her aura and thoughts are all over the place... I've never seen anything like it... Whenever I try to read her thoughts, it hurts... I just get this cacophony of sound and images..." Atona winced, causing Isis to frown. Natalia.... What happened to you...? She thought, but after several moments passed, Natalia eventually seemed to snap out of it and stand. "Stop looking at me like that. We need to get out of here before--" She snapped before stopping short as she caught a glance of the time on her xtransceiver. "...That's odd..." Atona murmured, earning a questioning look from Isis. "It seems that everything has dulled. Her aura has stabilized, but it's also faint. I can't imagine she's feeling a lot of emotion right now, which explains her attitude." He commented, trying to keep his annoyance to a minimum.
In spite of her harsh treatment, Aiden simply took it and made to continue with her, except all hell soon broke loose. People dressed in black outfits burst from the trees to grab Natalia and Aiden, but time paused there. Hinata didn't plan on making Isis watch a replay of her friend's death when they were going to change it. The celebi flew forward while Atona explained. ”The truth is... We live in one of many versions of our world... I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of parallel universes? In this world, Natalia wasn't supposed to die, therefore it is Hinata's job to fix it. As the guardian of time, part of her job is ensuring that things go as planned, and otherwise to make adjustments if necessary..." The sound of bells rang out again as she transported Natalia and Aiden into the future. ”Does... Does that mean that, by being with me, she hasn't been able to do that job...?" Isis asked, though Atona didn't answer, simply watching until Hinata had finished her job, and then brought the rest of them back to Lillycove. ”I see...." Hinata flew over to Isis and smiled brightly, circling around her. She seemed to hope that Isis would be happy now that Natalia was safe, and Isis was of course, but... She took the tiny sprite's hands in hers. ”You should go then... Traveling with me, you've only been able to stay hidden in a pokeball until I've needed to use your powers.... If I had my way, I'd have you out more often of course, but it's dangerous... Still, keeping you in your ball all the time is no way to live. I want you to be able to roam free and do your job." Isis insisted. ”Isis, in a way, you are keeping her safe. By capturing her, she won't have to worry about being caught by someone with less than good intentions." Atona's words were kind, but Isis still knew this was for the best. ”Then why don't you just stay out of your ball and keep hidden. You can come visit me any time, just be careful, okay?" Isis suggested. Though she seemed a bit sad to part from Isis, Hinata nodded appreciatively, waving before disappearing with the chime of a bell.
Wiping her eyes, Isis tried not to feel so sad. ”She will come if we need her Isis, and even then, she will probably check in every now and then. This isn't goodbye." He reassured her, and Isis nodded in agreement. ”Y-yes... You're right." She turned to Leon with a smile. ”Why don't we do something fun...? I think I've had enough of this...." She gestured to her tearful face with a light laugh. ”We are in Lillycove... Why don't we try and catch a contest?" She insisted. ✿ ❀

Jay scratched behind his ear as he made his way back onto the shores of Lillycove, but he wasn't planning on sticking around long. "Any messages, Rawly?" he asked the ralts, handing over his communicator. He was too... let's say distracted, to check himself, even if it was quite possibly just as much laziness as it was split attention. The pokemon was still a moment -- after all, he was just as caught up in everything that had happened -- before he pushed through it and checked the messenger. '... Two. One from Sebastian, and another from your sister,' the pokemon replied after a bit. "Al?" Jay's eyebrows rose in surprise. His sister had texted him? He wondered what about, but lapsed into thought for a moment, instead of investigating. He still had a lot he needed to do... but first he really ought to figure out what his next plan of action was...

Honestly... Jay did not have a lot of direction. And he was also okay with that. He wasn't a person who needed a goal, or a destination. He was, almost by definition of his childhood, a wanderer. But it was still good to have a loose idea of what direction he ought to be taking. 'Perhaps you should teach Golurk Fly, Jay,' Ralward suggested, sounding a bit distracted. Jay turned his head, noting that the pokemon still had his communicator. Was he already replying to those messages? Or was he looking through his pokemon's movesets... 'It would assist with transportation.' Jay quirked an eyebrow. He was going to assume that Ralward had been reading his mind, and started looking into this kind of stuff, for simplicity sake. But, the suggestion brought up a question. "... Golurk can learn Fly? 'N... can take us places?" he asked, sounding a bit aghast and confused, his brow furrowing. 'Yes.'".... How?" There was a long silence after that, as Rawly seemed to consider it. '.... I don't know.'

Running a hand back through his hair, Jay reached down for Golurk's pokeball, tugging his hat back on before releasing the pokemon. He shifted to bring his bag around, searching through things with a slightly furrowed brow, his eyes closed as he did. He pulled out the HM, keeping one hand in place so he could easily return it, and took a second to teach Golurk the move, before putting it away. 'Jay, would you like to know what your sister messaged you?' Ralward queried, as the ginger pulled his bag back on. "Huh? Oh, uh... sure," he replied, looking a bit quizzical. Was there something important in it? Just as he started to count through things that might have gone wrong with the family -- not necessarily in a worried way, but in a moment of consideration -- Rawly began reading off the message. 'It says "Jay! My friends at the daycare just told me they've had a growlithe there for a really long time. Way too long. The pokemon shows an interest in contests (apparently, and a really big interest), and didn't you mention you had a pokemon that was getting into that? Ralward lowered the device and looked up to his trainer. 'No, but we could be, rather easily,' he pointed out. Jay considered that a moment. True... Had that been Ralward's intention? Maybe that was why he mentioned teaching Golurk fly... He sighed. The pokemon was a little hard to figure out, honestly. A lot more than Mimey, at any rate, but he still trusted him. 'I'm sure your sister simply figured you wouldn't mind going there,' he added patiently. Jay frowned. "You psychic through 'lectronics too, now?" he retorted back. It was supposed to be a joke, sort of, but honestly... he was just being a bit bitter. He was consistently over protective of his sister, and for some reason, Ralward talking like he knew her rubbed him the wrong way. But thinking sensibly about it... he was probably just speaking from the impression he got of her, from Jay's own mind. "... Sorry," he muttered after a second. 'It's fine. You and your sister are very close, after all,' Rawly replied calmly, looking at Jay with consideration, '.... I'm sure you miss her.' He didn't have to guess-- he could feel it, subtle as it was. Jay shrugged off the notion easily, though. "Mm. 'Nyway.... why don' we try this whole flyin' business? S'gonna be.... diff'rent, I imagine, with a ghost type..." Jay suggested. Maybe he was avoiding the topic, but.... he did have a good reason to try this out, now, and it'd be better to look into it before texting Al back, anyway.

Perhaps just sitting around waiting for a message isn't the best way to pass the time, Zero thought, as he tossed pebbles lazily into the ocean. The small rocks passed through the ghostly shell and disappeared beneath the waves, harmless to the passing specter as it rests nearby. Before long, the apparition simply disappears, fading between worlds as the night goes on. Faint wisps and yet more ghastly visages still hung in the air however, wordlessly congregating around the lone young man and his passenger, kept distant from his presence. Hazel, though unnecessary, waves a small twig in the air whenever one dares inch close, useless for both her and the curious specters. He himself waves them off, however, and eventually the crowd disperses as he rises to his feet.
"Let's go somewhere else," he starts, not quite a suggestion. He looks to the specter on his shoulder, who hands him her miniature bat when he motions for it. "Anywhere you'd like to go? You may not have your memories, but you must have something you enjoy. Diving inside other people not withstanding."
Rude.
Zero chuckles, rolling the twig between two of his fingers as he begins to hop between rocks. "I am serious though. It seems we have time before Isis..." His voice trails as he tries to decide on a word, but the little voice answers before he can find it.
Well, if that's the case... Perhaps we could go to the contest hall?
He nearly stops sharply on a smaller step stone poking above the water, ocean spray sprinkling his ankles. The foothold isn't quite stable, yet he balances well enough, watching the ghost's form stumble off his shoulder and land in his pocket. She huffs a bit, but continues when he starts back towards the beach.
I mean, I've... never really seen one myself. Just through the flashes of your memory.
"I see." Nodding quietly, Zero presses on until his shoes touch down on the sand once more. He doesn't say anything after that, simply making his way back through town without clear direction. It isn't until he arrives at the contest hall that he actually thinks about his decision, musing to himself over whether this was truly okay. He couldn't complain though. If the specter's form was any indication, she seemed at least excited, kicking her feet in his pocket as she hurriedly gets comfortable... Even if, being dead, it was little more than a show.
Still, he didn't mind. The young man simply disappeared behind the doors, allowing himself to enjoy a contest again for at least tonight... Along with, of course, an entourage of loose ghosts that continued to follow him since the ocean.

Leon couldn't keep himself from blushing when Isis commented that the grey in his hair was handsome, but otherwise had nothing to say more on it. He supposed if she liked it, then it didn't matter too much. But for now there was an important matter at hand. The lifeguard followed Isis, hand in hand, to have a private chat with Hinata about going back in time to save her friend Natalia.
There wasn't much for him to say, since everything seemed to be between Isis, Hinata and Atona as he translated. Once he was pulled back in time with Isis, he reflexively reached up and touched his hair, looking himself over for any changes. There weren't any. Other than that, he remained quiet, observing what was going on, but was more focused on being there for Isis as support than figuring out what exactly was up with her friend. Thankfully, they didn't have to watch what had gone wrong, Hinata intervening and setting things right before sending them back to Lillycove.
Leon was quietly relieved when he found that nothing noticeable had changed about him as they returned to the present day. At least, not from what he could tell. Isis was convinced that the best way to handle things would be to let Hinata roam free, so that she can perform her duties as a time guardian. It made him think about if letting Delta roam free would be a good idea for similar reason, but he ended up shaking his head. "I'm afraid Delta will just start trouble somewhere if I let her roam." Leon chuckled, wrapping a comforting arm around Isis' shoulders after she said good-bye to the belled fairy.
He felt something wobble a bit, reminding him of the egg that he had in the bag at his side. Leon took a moment to pull the flap of his bag open to check on the rather big egg. "Hm... wonder what this is going to hatch into..." he commented, then offered a smile to Isis, rubbing her back a bit. Ren's attention was immediately caught as Isis suggested that they try to catch a contest. The navy ninetails walked a tight circle around them, then pushed his head against Leon's back eagerly. "Heh, well, I can't refuse now, can I? Let's go." Leon chuckled, moving in direction of the contest hall. Kai lumbered alongside them while Ren seemed really excited about the contest hall. Almost uncharacteristically so. Perhaps the fox missed being in contests that much that just the proximity of a contest excited him.
"I've been thinking that I should see about trying out a contest myself. Think I can pick up some pointers?" he told Isis. He still felt weird about admitting things so honestly, thanks to that little curse, but there wasn't anything he could do about it. At least it has mostly been harmless. As they entered the contest hall, Kai let out a grumbling growl in greeting to the familiar face of Zero. "Looks like we found Zero, too." Leon sighed, his lack of enthusiasm blatant, due to the curse.

✿ ❀ Isis chuckled along with Leon as he decided to keep Delta in her ball. "That's probably for the best. I think she's more the type to destroy the world than save it if allowed to run rampant." Her attention drew to Leon's bag as he checked on the egg. "I don't know... That's the egg you got from the ruins right? I'd ask what you wished for to get it but that's bad luck, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see!" Isis nodded sagely. At the suggestion of a contest, Ren got all excited, essentially making Leon's choice for him.
"Really?!~ Well I'd be happy to give you advice, and watching contests also helps you pick up on a few things." She was happy about Leon's interest in contests, plus it only made sense given that he was such a good groomer. "Who knows! With my help, maybe I can make you as big as Austin~" Of course, the moment she said this, she realized that maybe Austin wasn't the best example, given their altercation at the ball, but... The other person that came to mind was Zero, but he wasn't a much better example to use for Leon.
Speaking of Zero, Leon pointed the grey-haired boy out in the lobby of the contest hall, though he didn't really sound all that enthused. "What? Oh! Well this is perfect~ If you want coordinating advice, you should definitely ask him. He was a great coordinator back in his contest days." Isis insisted, trying to continue pushing the boys to be friends in spite of the awkward situation. ”I've never actually done a contest myself, so I can only advise you on moves and outfits and things, but there's something about being on the stage and putting it into a performance that I can't really advise you on. Isn't that right, Zero?" Isis smiled, approaching the silver-haired male.
"Isis... Don't you think you're trying to hard to force this?" Atona insisted privately. ”What do you mean?" Isis thought. "I know that you think if the two of them can be friends, things will be easier, but please try to be considerate of their feelings too." He insisted, and though he was inclined to say more on the matter of Zero feeling like a third wheel and Leon thinking Isis was spending too much time with Zero and not him, it wouldn't help Isis' emotional maturity grow if he spelled all of this out for her. Isis was at least aware of the fact that Leon was jealous of the amount of time she wanted to spend with Zero, it was just... Difficult to distance herself from someone she had spent so much time with.
Besides that, Isis had two texts waiting for her, or rather one for him, and one for her. ”You'll be happy to know that Austin just won another contest. He insists that you contact Ms. Anthrope for a video so you can see, and would like to meet with you again soon at some point when you aren't both so busy." Atona switched back to his public telepathy for the small announcement. ”Oh wow! Can you text them for me? We could watch it together! You guys have to see Austin perform. He's something else, and I know you two will appreciate it like I do~" Isis insisted eagerly. ”What am I now, your secretary?" Atona huffed, but did as asked. ”Well if you want to keep using my xtransceiver to text your girlfriend--" Isis shrugged, enjoying the face Atona made with a smug grin. ”Fynx is not my girlfriend. Olivia shook her head, creating several 'tsk' noises to go along with it, to show Vince just how disappointed she was in him. "Unfortunately, I don't think so." She was careful to introduce the bad news to him, not wanting to crush his dreams too thoroughly. "But, who knows. Maybe with more practice, you'll be able to make something a bit more complex. I've heard salads are the next step up." Quietly, the pinkette couldn't help but to question just when she'd be able to take the time to visit Vince's family, back in Johto. But, it wasn't one she allowed to linger on the forefront of her mind.
As determined as she was to keep her frown, it quickly became an uphill battle, and one she inevitably lost, when Vince joined in with his laughter. "Alright. Since you, obviously, know best, I'll try and frown more. Just like that," she promised, right before joining the male in his laughter.
Enduring the long line, and Elgyem, Olivia's efforts were rewarded with two tickets for the next boat to Lilycove. Commandeering a bench, the woman sat down to inspect her spoils (because there wasn't much else to do), and had only been at it for a few minutes when a familiar voice caused her to look up. Olivia smirked, then stood to her feet. "I hate to break it to you, Vince, but you actually are too late," she admitted to him. "The boat left 10 minutes ago, and I'm actually on it -- what you're talking to right now is nothing more than a hologram." She kept her grin, thoroughly amused by her own joke, as she handed Vince his ticket and afterwards boarded the boat with him.
Taking to leaning against the railing, during the duration of their trip, Olivia looked out to the sea. It was impossible not to direct her attention to it. "I'm sure your fans will mourn your hiatus," she joked, casting Vince a glance as he spoke of taking a break from contests. "Oh man, really? Who called you out? Should I give them a talking to?" Olivia grinned. Thirty minutes later and they'd docked, allowing the passengers to depart and file out onto the docks of Lilycove. "Where do you want to go to get our picnic supplies?" she inquired, stepping off to the side to avoid the crowd.
"Berry bread?" Blue tipped his head to the side, considering Xiu Feng's comparison, before eventually shrugging his shoulders. "I guess so..." He still wouldn't eat it though, and he'd strongly suggest Xiu Feng smell any given to her before eating. Their business concluded, the two Lupup said goodbye to Cherish before following Vince out of the contest hall. The boat (a word his mother had to teach him) ride over was unpleasant, to put it lightly. The large metal contraption, with its swaying and rocking, combined with the plethora of humans, all around them, had left Blue with enough anxiety to keep him firmly stuck to Licorice's side, the entire time. When they finally stopped moving, though the rocking persisted, Blue bolted off the boat and down to the strange land below, where he waited impatiently for Olivia and Vince to get off as well before he, poutingingly, slumped back over to them. Arceus, that had been the worst.

Vince chuckled as Olivia insisted she didn't think hamburgers qualified as a sandwich. "Really? Okay, then how would you define a sandwich and why does a hamburger not fall under that definition?" Honestly, was curious as to how this argument would play out, even if it was silly. He laughed as she suggested salads was the next level up. "I did make us a salad, if you would recall. Apple, walnut, and gogoat cheese with lettuce. I had you cut the apples." He pointed out, thinking fondly back to their time in the distortion world. While the situation had been difficult, they had managed to make the most of it. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but... He cherished that memory. Distortion world aside, it was like taking a snapshot of what life might be like living together. Vince caught himself smiling wistfully and quickly returned his expression to a more neutral one. He shouldn't be thinking of such useless things. "You'll just have to come up with a different challenge." He insisted.
Vince couldn't help but feel highly amused as Olivia's face contorted with effort in trying to keep her frown. She just wasn't the type of person to hold such an expression. "So you finally acknowledge that I know best? Does this mean you won't argue with me anymore when I tell you not to do something?" He suggested. "I look forward to seeing you try. It should give me a couple laughs." He grinned an easy smile, but a part of him felt concerned. In the past year of traveling together, Olivia had all but broken down his defenses. He felt so at ease around her compared to when they had first met that it was strange to think about. Vince felt like he couldn't even put his walls back up even if he tried. There was no use, not with her. Then when she left, Vince felt impatient. Every minute that passed without her felt so long when he was eager to return to her side, and yet he knew he needed to distance himself. He wasn't sure how or when he was going to be able to do it, and the longer he spent with her, the harder he knew it would be to leave in the end. At the same time, he felt like it was a good excuse to enjoy the time he was going to spend with her. Vince closed his eyes and sighed, mulling everything over as he made his way to Olivia and their ride to Lilycove.
Vince's eyes widened as Olivia suggested that he was late and the boat had already left, but when the pinkette continued to tease him, he scoffed, rolling his eyes at her ruse. "You actually had me worried for a minute there, until you started spouting that hologram nonsense." He was smiling though. "As if I could mistake a mere projected image for the real thing. Who do you take me for?" He insisted indignantly, taking his ticket and quickly boarding the boat with Olivia. "After my last performance? There's no doubt. Hearts will be broken." He chuckled, not at all serious. He had done a good job, there was no doubt there, but he knew no one was chomping at the bit to see him perform in Lilycove. "I guess I owe you an apology, I know you're my biggest fan." He suggested with a smile.
"By all means, please do. I'd love to see how this plays out." Given that Olivia was the one who had called him out, it would be hilarious to see her chastising herself. Once they had docked, Olivia suggested they look for picnic supplies. "I don't know... You're supposed to be my guide here, I've never been to this area." He chuckled. "If I had to take a guess though...." His eyes went to the large department store to the north, a tall twelve-story building that towered over the city. "That seems to be the place to start." He suggested.
Xiu Feng felt a bit bad for Blue. He seemed to have had a tough time on the boat, but she could hardly blame him. The abundance of people made her agitated as well, but she was more used to it than he was. By the time the boat had docked and started letting passengers off, he'd practically bolted to shore. Xiu followed suit, though she stayed by Vince's side. Once she reached the other lupup, she snuffed his ears curiously. ('Are you alright?') She asked with a frown and a whine of sympathy.
The young man was already beneath the shade of doorway when he heard the low, throaty groan that entered the hall. He spun on his heel to turn to its source, watching as the lumbering gator trotted in with his trainer, along with Isis at his side. A deep breath exited his lungs on reflex, likely just as thrilled Leon that all three of them were brought together again. The ghosts around him scattered afterwards, leaving only his little helper perched on his shoulder. "Welcome back, you two. Or I guess I should say welcome to Lilycove, since I'm not sure if you've ever been here Leon."
Zero sounded about as tired as he did when he left the party, hands disappearing into his pockets as he waited for the two to approach. He didn't quite catch the bulk of the couple's musings as they came close, but he gleamed enough to continue the conversation. "Things have changed a bit since I was in that field, but I guess I could lend a hand. You're intending on getting into contests, I'm guessing?" He looked to the raven-haired lifeguard when he raised the question, glancing back to Isis only when she brought up watching some contest replays.
Adding someone else to divert your attention away?
Hazel's voice was quiet, though Zero could not tell if it was simply a whisper or a lack of energy. He ignored the comment either way, responding to Isis before the specter could say anything else. "That was the person you had to interview, right? Having some visual aid would probably make any advice I'd have a bit easier to consider. I think there's some tapes of my acts lying around somewhere, those two in Veilstone should have it."

"Oh, no." Olivia shook her head, a smug smile taking occupation across her face. "I agree that a hamburger's a sandwich. I just don't think it's a fancy sandwich," she clarified, then shook her head once more, baffled at the gall her companion had. "It's an exclusive title, and not just any sandwich will fall underneath that category." As ashamed as she was of Vince's mistake, she let it slide in order to move on, from the conversation and the pain. Olivia tapped her chin as she tried recalling the salad that Chef Vince had whipped up, and eventually she nodded her head in confirmation. "Oh yeaaaaaah. I remember that now," she mused. "Alright then. Well, since you've mastered salads, I guess the next step from here is home-made soup. It's one thing to heat up and serve from the can, it's another to chop your own vegetables and strategize the best broth-to-noodle ratio," she explained, with a general, chin-nestled-between-thumb-and-index-finger, sage pose. Still though, now that it'd been brought up Olivia couldn't help but to reflect on their distortion disaster, and she grew quiet. She inadvertently furrowed her brow--honestly, just how different would her outcome have been if Vince hadn't been there?--but inevitably relaxed after several seconds had passed, and she'd come to her own conclusion, before she nudged Vince and smirked as she focused back onto their conversation. "How's that for a challenge?"
Her thoughts had gone in an unexpected direction, and was far from appropriate for their current light-heartedness. Thankfully, Olivia was quick to shake the thoughts from her mind (or at least shove them to the back) and relaxed herself. "Oh, no." Such a suggestion prompted her to scoff, though it'd also gotten her to start smiling again, and she stretched herself out to pat the top of Vince's head. "I'm still your elder, Vincent. So, technically, I know best." After all, it was the elders you heard were wise, not the youth.
The pinkette quirked an eyebrow at Vince, challenging his confidence, "I don't know. Technology has come pretty far, I'm sure it's advanced enough to create realistic holograms." He was just fortunate that she didn't have access to that sort of technology, and didn't know if it actually existed -- also that their boat hadn't arrived yet. When it did, however, the two boarded. Olivia nodded her head, sympathetic to the plight of Vince's millions fans, herself included, before looking dramatically out at the sea. "I don't know if I'll be able to recover," she admitted, softly to amp up the drama. With a sigh she turned back to look at Vince. "I guess I'll just have to settle for spending time with you -- bid my time until your next contest." Ah, how the wait was killing her.
Olivia hummed thoughtfully. "Alright, I'll gather my strongest words. Just point me in the right direction and I'll lay in on them," she promised him. As eager as she was to get a head start on their picnic preparations, the pinkette couldn't help but to pause and glance, worriedly, in Blue's direction; he hadn't looked the best during the boat ride, and shot off like a rocket once they'd docked. "Oh... right," she murmured, distracted as she watched Blue. He was probably a bit sea sick, so he'd just need a bit of time to recover, being on land would help quell his stomach. Xiu Feng and Licorice would help him, the latter already by his side and patting his back sympathetically, but she'd keep an eye on him as well. Olivia turned back to Vince, then into the building he pointed out. "Ah, Lilycove Department Store. Yeah, that'll be a good place," she agreed, then began walking in that direction.
Blue, doing his best to draw comfort from his mother's touch, looked up when Xiu Feng approached. "Yeah... I'm alright," he insisted, though avoided looking at her. On top of the general queasiness, he now felt... embarrassed? He didn't want his friend to see him like this, all weak and pathetic. In an attempt to salvage his image the young Lupup pushed himself to his paws, and put a brave face on, simultaneously drawing in the biggest breath he could through his nose (to remain subtle), then puffed out his chest a bit. "...C'mon, we don't wanna be left behind." Urging both his mother and friend, Blue followed after the humans, all while mentally trying to convince himself that he was fine, and most definitely wasn't feeling sick.

Vince smiled as Olivia clarified. "Well, clearly you've never had my hamburgers. Though, we call them rou jia mo. You're from Ecruteak, you must have had one before?" He asked curiously. Those were more like a fancy sandwich than the classic hamburger since there was no meat patty. Still, he was amused by her claim that no ordinary sandwich could fall under the exclusive title of "fancy", and seemed to accept that homemade soup was the next step. He looked over her "sage pose" and chuckled as she nudged him, but even though she had quickly bounced back, he noticed that Olivia's playful mood had sobered for a moment. He didn't want to ask and ruin her efforts to stay away from the topic, plus he had a feeling he knew. The distortion world brought up a mix of emotions from them both.
"I think that's fair. There is actually an old Alolan recipe that nainai always made to help clear our sinuses when we were sick... It had a coconut milk and chicken broth base, with shrimp, sliced mushrooms, rice, curry, oil, and lime.... It was spicy, but not too overpowering, and it cleanses the body very well. I would love to practice making it myself. If we had a pot, campfire, and a cooler for the ingredients, perhaps I could brew it, but.... That's too much to carry for just a one-time thing, and I doubt they'll let us rent the gear." He chuckled and shook his head. "I can take care of that. Us psychics have a few tricks about storage and compartmentalization~" She winked, and Vince raised his eyebrows. He hadn't considered utilizing psychic power in such a way before, but if it was possible, it would certainly be useful. "Very well. If you can make that happen, I would be very much appreciative. The stew would go nicely with rou jia mo." He added, a small spark of inspiration dancing in his eyes. Something about cooking brought life to his features.
Olivia really had to work to pat his head in a playfully belittling manner. "Then perhaps you should act your age, not your shoe size. Then I might be able to actually respect you as my elder." He teased back. Not that he actually wanted Olivia to change. He liked her childish quirks, even if it was annoying or embarrassing at times. He still found those traits about her to be endearing, though he often expressed it in odd ways... "I'm sure that holograms can look very realistic, but it's still projected light, so I can't imagine it looking solid enough to trick someone. It would have been more believable if you told me your elgyem was making me see your image in my mind." He half regretted suggesting such a thing, because for one, the idea of that actually happening gave him heebie-jeebies, and for two, he didn't want Olivia actually making him second guess.
Olivia played the part of a wistful fan like an actress in a soap opera, and Vince wasn't sure if he should laugh or feel awed. For a moment, her soft tone and longing gaze out to sea entranced him even though she knew she was just kidding. Perhaps some part of him did want her to really feel that way, silly as it seemed. He looked away, faintly blushing and a tad disgruntled. She was a very good actress, he supposed. The thought had been more bitter than he intended, and he quickly shook the weird feeling off. "Yes, you and all my other dozens of fans..." He was trying to joke along, but found it a bit harder this time.
"Sure. You just let me know when you've gathered them, and I'll point the culprit out." He chuckled, though their attention briefly went to Blue as he darted off the ship. "In the future, you may want to consider returning him to his pokeball when we are in a crowded area." Vince suggested. At least he had Licorice and Xiu Feng to comfort him. "A department store? I suppose that makes sense, given the size." He chuckled, making his way towards the large building.
Inside, Vince wasn't really sure where to start. He'd never been in a building so big before. It even had its own map, with different products on each floor. "It looks like cookware and camping supplies are on the fourth floor. Produce is on the second.""I can go take care of the appliances you need while you two look for the ingredients?" Yue offered. Nodding, Vince handed her the money she needed to cover for it. "Thank you." With a nod, they walked towards the stairs, and Yue split off once Vince reached the floor he needed. "This place really has everything... I wonder how they maintain it all?" Vince stared wide-eyed at the wall to wall of various food items.
Xiu Feng couldn't help but smile as Blue acted brave. Well, it wasn't an act, really. He was forging on in spite of his moment of weakness, which Xiu found admirable. She happily trotted off after him, tail wagging. ('They kept talking about making all this food, and now I'm hungry. Vince's wrinkly old human woman really does make good food.') She insisted happily. If Vince was going to try and replicate it, she wanted a taste. It would make up for the lack of poffins she got earlier.

"Yeah, and she still seems to have beef with some Deoxys." Leon chuckled in agreement with Isis. Delta is definitely more the kind of legendary that would wreck some s**t rather than save the world. Even though she has been a bit more pleasant to work with recently. As he checked the egg, Isis commented on it. "I'm not sure I even made a wish, but it seems like it can't be too far from hatching." he replied, scratching the back of his head.
While they worked their way towards the contest hall, Leon admitted that he was thinking of trying out contests. He smiled as Isis offered to give him advice. However, he couldn't help but make a face as she brought up Austin. "I will appreciate any advice you'd offer me but...I'd rather not be compared to that guy...." Leon grumbled, that curse still in full effect, much to his dismay. Even if that situation was all just a misunderstanding on his part, he wasn't keen on the guy after having a fist fight and nearly losing in a very bad way. It was only natural, right?
They made it into the contest hall, finding Zero there too."Yeah, this is my first time in Hoenn." he replied simply as Zero welcomed them. Leon tried to hide his displeasure as Isis seemed to continue her mission to push friendship on them. It was really hard to stay friendly to a guy that has burst into his home and punched him, as well as being the guy that your girlfriend has admitted she still has feelings for. Not only that, but it seemed like Isis was always spending more time with Zero. It's not that he didn't trust her but... "Right. I'll take advice and all, but you are going backstage with me. I don't want to see you getting cozy with him in the stands." Leon stated his willingness to accept advice, but then firmly told Isis that she'd be back stage with him. Not sitting in the audience. The lifeguard turned his attention back to Zero as he offered to lend a hand in response to Isis' asking. "You still probably have a better idea than I do. I just groom. Other than the grooming, what else is there to do?" he asked.

Olivia hummed, loudly and thoughtfully, letting Vince know that she was considering Vince's remark. It was also a cover for her, as she gave herself an extension on a new lie; she wasn't actually from Ecruteak, so she'd never had one of those rou jia mo burgers. "You'll have to explain to me what makes your burgers so special," she insisted, then shook her head. "I've heard of it, but I don't think I've ever had it." Olivia gave a mournful sigh, "Now I feel like I've missed out on some right of passage." Hopefully that loose explanation would fly. A somber mood, as brief as it was, settled between the two, and with the mood a sense of understanding, at least on Olivia's part. She could... tell that Vince had caught on, but rather than be upset she felt a sense of relief flood through her. It was a shared experience of theirs.
The talk of food certainly brought life back to the conversation, and Olivia listened with intrigue as Vince described a certain type of soup his grandmother would make; it sounded good, like really good. She perked up, and considerably at that, when Yue offered a suggestion that would allow them to make such a soup. "Now we're cooking," Olivia remarked, and flashed a cheeky grin at her pun. "Well, not yet." Man, was she good.
The pinkette gasped, and loudly at that, when Vince had the gall to insult her personality. "There's nothing wrong with being young at heart," she defended, and folded her arms over her chest. "Besides, I think it's a nice balance. You act as old as someone twice my age." If she was being honest with herself, she didn't know if she couldn't rule out that Vince was actually an old man in an early twenty's body. Olivia pursed her lips at the point Vince made, unwilling to admit that he was right, but before she could retort Elgyem herself spoke up, "I would never waste my abilities on something so trivial as message relaying." She didn't know what to say to that, so her laugh would suffice.
Though keeping her gaze out to sea, Olivia couldn't help but to quirk an eyebrow, for no one really, at Vince's delayed response. Curious, she turned her body back so that she could look at him. "Are you alright?" Was he, secretly, that upset about not being able to compete in a contest for a while? She didn't understand.
"Will do." Olivia promised, and held up her right hand, thumb covering her bent pinkie; scout's honor. Still distracted, she left the hand sign hanging in the air much longer than needed, and nodded her head slowly. "Yeah. I guess he hasn't developed his sea legs yet," she murmured, and dropped her hand to her side. "It's so much more than a department store though," she spoke, something Vince discovered immediately after they stepped inside. Splitting up was a good idea, it certainly helped them save time, and once they were on their own Olivia looked around curiously, trying to figure out just where they ought to start. "Probably through Christmas bonuses and the promise of great healthcare," she suggested, using her 'sage voice' to implore more wisdom into her words. "But." She clapped her hands together, "We can discuss the how's and why's later, for right now let's concentrate on getting what we need."
Blue looked at Xiu Feng, tail wagging weakly, before he huffed gently. "I don't think my human has a wrinkly old human," he added. Though, that didn't mean much, since he hadn't spent time with any of Olivia's relatives. He took in a breath, through his mouth this time, then did his best to match Xiu Feng's attitude. "Maybe... they'll feed us whatever it is they're making," he suggested, even though, personally, the last thing he could think about was eating.
