Sebastian nodded his head along absently, fiddling with his pokedex as Jay spoke. Strategize, hm? He suppose that was a good thing to keep in mind. At the mention of even more books, Sebastian gave a little nod. By the time he was done with this adventure, he would be a walking library. His back was going to be killing him from the books he’d be hauling. Sebastian fell silent a moment as he went through his pokedex, trying to locate this mysterious ‘ability’ information that he was unaware of. He gave it a go using Naps as his test subject.
It honestly… took him a bit to figure out what was relevant information in regards to this topic. There were all kinds of information concerning the pokemon and for a moment be was briefly overwhelmed. Eventually though he noticed something that seemed to fit the description of what Jay had described. "Blaze." He suddenly said, brow furrowing as he read it over. "When health is below a third or so… increases the power of fire moves by over fifty percent." Sebastian’s face contorted just a bit. Well that seemed… kinda useless. Or very last ditch effort to use anyways. He certainly couldn’t imagine purposely putting Naps into such a dangerous range on health just for a boost like that. He turned the pokedex on Spade, looking in the same area and reading about the Quick Feet ability his Mightyena had. That too… sounded kind of bad.
"…These sound kind of terrible, Jay." He finally remarked, uncertain if he wanted to keep looking. So far, two of his pokemon had abilities that kind of required them to be hurt and suffering. That wasn’t… really a thought he liked, even though he was sure it was meant as a more last ditch effort kind of ability. "You said they come with other abilities? Leon chuckled, looking down as Ren had huffed and caught Isis' attention once again. This time, for his pouty behavior. He hadn't seen much of this behavior before with Ren, but then again... Ren hadn't been his pokemon until recently. So maybe it was part of his personality that he just wasn't aware of. The blue fox leaned his head gently into Isis' hand as she scratched behind his ear. That really felt good - the attention and the ear scratching. "Huh, you have a Ninetails? I don't think I've seen it yet." Leon responded, trying to think back over the pokemon that belonged to Isis that he's seen. He realized that he actually hasn't seen many pokemon of Isis' quite yet. Leon rested a hand on Ren's back, petting his glossy fur gently.
=== Autumn was feeling quite confident with her battles so far. That was until the grunt that she thought she was done with sent out another pokemon. A Galvantula. It was unnerving to find herself pitted against this bug type. She had nothing strong against it. The lizard had a bad feeling about this, but tried her best to battle it anyways. It got right into using it's type effectiveness, and soon, Autumn found it impossible for her to hold out. Lucky for her, Kai was nearby and intervened after she was knocked out, preventing the grunt from taking her with two impressive Moonblast attacks. Kai lifted the unconscious grovyle once more, bringing her back to the joy tent to heal her and himself up to full health.
Autumn was greatly disappointed when she came back to, knowing that she had failed once more. She stuck close to the gator this time as he made his way back to Ashen. Kai sat down by his charizard buddy, watching with amusement as his friend lit some of the grunts clothes on fire. He could easily put out the fires. But that was if he wanted to. Which he didn't. Autumn sat quietly nearby, wanting to fight to get stronger, but not wanting to get caught up in losing again.

Riley's heart leaped as Berrie soared into the sky, even though her own feet stayed on the ground. She cheered and clapped. Some people nearby took notice for a bit but walked off when they realized it wasn't some kind of event for the fair. Zeke nudged Riley's elbow, as if he wanted her to get on his back so they could fly up there. "Nah, Zeke, we're waiting for the kite!" She rubbed his head to placate him until Berrie was back on the ground. "That was so awesome! You just went up there, and stayed! And didn't fall! -not that I thought you would!" Riley quickly added. She was just amazed. Riley took the kite in her hands, excitement spiking and she nodded heartily to everything Berrie said. "So I just...hold like this, right?" she asked, settling in with her grip after Berrie showed her the proper way. "O-okay, and then Zeke will do his thing? Zeke, keep an eye on me, okay?" She hadn't doubted for a second that he wouldn't. He nodded, and after a pause Riley told him to go. He flapped up a breeze for her and suddenly the kite was rippling and pulled tight and rising higher and higher. "Woah!" Riley tightened her grip, the feeling of weightlessness so much more appealing than the vertigo she'd felt in the distortion world. "Haha!" she laughed, grinning as the kite rose to the full height. "This is awesome!" she called down to Berrie. Zeke flew up to join her in the sky, near enough to help if she needed. After a few minutes, Riley's voice called down. "Uh, Berrie? How do I land?"

Kuraz felt sure he had messed up somewhere. She seemed a little off-put when she answered his question. Arceus, but I haven't spoken like this is a long time! Huey did his best to walk slowly through crowd, pulling himself close so that he could keep from bumping into anyone, but when the opportunity presented itself he slipped out of the crowd and found himself in a seated area for those who wished to sit down while they ate. While Jay was staying safe, his pokemon were continuing to battle. Things were getting rather challenging. It seemed like, somehow, there were more pokemon showing up again. There was a growing sense of retreat among them, though, not too surprsiingly, there were a few adamantly against that. Koda was far from backing down -- but then again, he was strong enough to fend for himself. Jade was too stubborn... and the same could honestly probably be said about Tod, except that the dewott's stubbornness stemmed more from his teammates resolution, than his own. He wasn't backing down if they weren't, and all that.

"Hey now…," He smirked a little, shaking his head and listening again as Jay mentioned the ability thing. "Huh…," he murmured, seeming to consider the thought a moment before finally just shaking his head, reaching out and giving Naps a gentle pat on the head as the Typhlosion tried to take a dig in his bag, receiving a squeaky roar in return. "Well… maybe I’ll look into that then. Of course… We’ve been doing well so far without me really knowing so… I’m going to assume it’s not the biggest deal." ✿ ❀Amongst the conversations, the group had gotten their food and ate in turn, discussing contests and grooming, or Nova's hair. It was no surprise that Zero and Nova finished their meals first, given that they were just having dessert, but Isis was taking her time with her meal, given that she was talking so much. She had to giggle a bit though when Nova asked for seconds though. The gardevoir certainly had an appetite for human food.
Given that the attention was everywhere but on himself, Ren grew huffy and upset, which amused Isis and reminded her of Vixen's general attitude. She even commented on it aloud as she scratched the navy vulpix behind he ears and asked Leon if he'd ever met her ninetales. When Leon suggested that he hadn't, Isis chuckled and explained further. "Heh~ Yeah, her name is Vixen, and she's a lot like Ren, attitude wise." Isis reached around into her bag and pulled out Vixen's pokeball to let the ninetales out. Her white fur practically glowed in the dimly lit tent, and as she looked around, she was mildly disgusted. "You call this a restaurant? How can you eat anything here? I can feel the unsanitary conditions already making my fur frizzy....." She grumbled. This felt like some hole in the wall, not fine dining. Isis gave a look to Leon, indicating that her point was probably just proven.
With a light sigh, Isis scratched the ninetales behind the ear as well. "Sorry Vixen, but I just had to show you off. You know I can't resist~" Isis suggested, hoping a bit of ego boosting would get her to tolerate her surroundings a bit better. It did of course, Vixen's tail wagging said as much. "Well of course not darling~ I can't blame you. I suppose I can stay out, just for you." She grinned a foxy grin and then finally noticed Ren. "Oh? And who is this handsome fellow?" Vixen noted the navy blue fox admiringly. So small, soft, and cute looking~
Atona did his best to ignore Fynx's snickering, annoyed even more by it, though he had to agree that for Nova, it was probably worse. "Probably, but that's more because she has to deal with Zero's internal screaming every time Leon makes a move on Isis." Atona pointed out tiredly. He didn't have as deep of a connection to Zero as he did with Isis, so he was able to tune out Zero's aura better and easier than Isis'. With Isis, it was hard to tell what feelings were his, and what were hers at times. He even made a point of telling Fynx as much, but when she mentioned the smooch she'd given him last time they met, Atona tensed, not sure how to respond. "No.... That was certainly....." He murmured quietly, trying to agree, and admitting that those feelings were most certainly all his own, but.... It was hard to admit when it was so embarrassing and uncomfortable for him. He still wasn't quite sure what to think or feel in regards to Fynx. It still felt like her affections were mostly to tease him or, even worse, used as a flat out joke. He was getting a bit tired of her antics at this point, which had shown somewhat when she took things too far in Lumiose when she had dumped water all over herself and him. In the end though, they did seem to.... Care for each other in some way. Whether that was love or just an intimate friendship, Atona wasn't quite sure, but that kiss had been.... Something.
Thankfully the subject changed, and Atona focused on counting up the tokens he had gathered for Isis thusfar. Even Fynx appeared impressed, though she couldn't say how many tokens Rose had, given that she was leaving that to the redhead herself. "I see.... She would be the one to want to play the games. Isis would too, but she has her hands full at the moment with those two boys...." He chuckled dryly. "Why must relationships be so.... Complicated?" He sighed, a tired look on his face. ✿ ❀

Vanyel landed delicately after finishing off the grunt's third druddigon. He brushed off his white skirts and Seul nodded in appreciation for the battle. They didn't have long to chat, however, because a voice raised above the crowd directed itself at them. "Ex-cuuuze me!?" Another human dressed like the first ran up. The druddigon dude was looking at him strangely. "What did you do to my bro? Huh? You think you're funny?" Vanyel and Seul shared a glance. "Bro worked so hard to get them draggins. While Isis showed off her Ninetails, Zero wrapped up his desert, and the couple finally began to dig into their own food, Nova had already begun chowing down on her second helping of pumpkin pie.. She happily savored each and every bite she took, enjoying the taste with her little slice of being like the humans surrounding her. Swallowing her food though, she suddenly felt a small, almost unnoticeable chill run up her, and she turned her head away from the table to cover her mouth and sneeze, making a sound that almost sounded like a squeak. Zero looked towards her due to the noise, but she quickly waved him back to... whatever he was doing, aside from stewing in his own confused and uncertain emotions. But why did she suddenly feel a chill run through her...?
She took another bite out of her pie as she stroked her chin, mirroring the gesture her trainer often performed when thinking. She felt like she knew the answer somehow, though the only thing that came to mind was a half-buried saying that the trainers all had somewhere in their memories, something about sneezing when people speak of you. Oddly, though, Nova seemed to take this idea to heart, and thought more on who might've spoken of her. Since all the trainers were here, and it was doubtful that the passing thoughts or comments on her appearance by the strangers around them would've set something like that off without her noticing, she decided to think of who wasn't around who she actually knew...
Of course, it didn't take long for that light bulb to go off in her head, though a small blush ran across her cheeks as she realized that, in her pondering, she'd been poking her fork down onto an empty space on her plate where she'd already eaten a chunk of her pie slice. Hoping no one noticed she immediately got back to taking another sweet bite, before she tried to psychically reach out to the one she figured probably was talking about her. "Did someone call my name?" She asked, her voice only resonating inside Atona's head at surface-level, which also happened to leave it open for Fynx to hear freely as she appeared quite silent at the table she still sat at. Aside from, of course, her usual voicing of her enjoyment of the food.

Huey tried not to look as if he was lost, even though he most definitely was, as he wandered around the area in search of his family. After a few minutes of fruitless searching the boy began to contemplate new ways of trying to find the rest of his family. An eye from the sky would most likely prove useful, which meant he'd have to pull Minerva out-- the only pokemon he had capable of flight. He didn't immediately jump to that option, however, and instead nervously shifted himself as he thought about just... how most people would react to seeing a large, black and red, dragon simply swooping through the air; it wouldn't go well.

Sebastian didn’t take any offense to the silence, a slight smirk still on his face as he considered the situation. He was supposed to be learning all he could after all, though he was beginning to wonder if there were a few things he could skip out on. No… no, that was a bad thing to be considering. There were no shortcuts after all and he was still intent on learning whatever he could in order to help his brother once he decided to do his own journey. Skipping out on things wouldn’t benefit him.

Actually, now that he was considering it, the Mightyena did seem to move faster when he was suffering from an affliction and it had served them well in a couple of battles. Though, the poor thing already suffered enough as it was with all the twitching from prolonged exposure to poison from earlier in his life. Sebastian wasn’t sure how he felt about purposely inflicting the poor thing just for a speed boost. Actually… something was coming to mind.
