Blank Slate (Ellie + ********* style="font-size: 11px">"She can't just stay around the house doing nothing!"
That was how it all began. And in all honesty, the cat had a point. Annie was in the house way too often, and seeing as it was Ellie's house, Ellie had obviously noticed the space that she was taking. The blonde wasn't going to kick the girl out of the house, but she had to agree with the cat that Annie had to do something with all that free time she had.
"I know, I know," she scowled in a defensive manner while plopping her head upon the dining room table.
The cat sat on the other side, eyes staring intensely at the tomboy. "Just because you know doesn't mean you are doing anything about it. I know it's not an easy situation... but... as captain... you know... you should probably be trying that extra 3000% to make sure she is adjusting."
Ellie couldn't help but groan. "So yer pinnin' th'whole thing as my job?"
"No... but I am sure you could do a bit more than some of the others..." Her eyes glanced up to the sky and her head rolled about her neck in a gesture above and around her.
"....wait a minute....." Gold eyes narrowed at the cat before she lifted her head and scooted it closer to the cat.
"... are ya suggestin' space?"
The manx stood up and meandered over to Ellie, stopping just short of her face before leaning down and giving her a scratchy lick upon the nose.
"...cut that sh*t out, Cat!"
With a cheerful giggle, she apologized "Sorry... couldn't resist!" Settling her haunches back down in her new place, she bobbed her head up and down a few times, signaling with a few jingles of her collar that this was indeed her idea.
The blonde lifted her head so she couldn't get attacked by another kitty-kiss. "Okay... so ya know that I want more information than that... right?"
The cat lifted a paw and rubbed it over her own nose. "Well... I've had some time to think about the subject. And... Anemone..."
"Annie."
"...Anemone doesn't have much to her name now. Even her name is a lie, Ellie. Both of them."
The blonde nodded to acknowledge the guardian's point.
"...and worse off... she has no memories of her own either... at least none that I can tell of so far..." The few awkward conversations using the computer as a translator had easily revealed that Anemone really was like a brand new kitten in the world of Destiny City.
The blonde rolled her wrist to gesture "Get to the point."
"...okay... I know you are kind of... an exception to the rule with the memories you have... but... I think it might help Anemone..."
"Annie."
A groan. "...Anemone if she had something of her own. It might not be from this lifetime... it might not be completely relevant... but right now she's a blank slate.... and... that isn't fair to her!"
A hand fell flat on the cat's head when the Mauvian's voice started to get a bit excited about the situation. "Cool yer jets, Cat!" Her tone was flat, and for a moment she remained silent, as if making certain the round fuzzball under her hand was going to stay quiet or if she was going to prattle on again.
Once the silence seemed confirmed, she then spoke her own opinion on the matter. "...I feel fer her... however... there's two sides to this, ********* lifted both hands up in fists. On one hand she pointed a single finger. "On th'one hand... yer givin' somethin' back to her... givin' her a new life."
The other hand, the mirrored finger pointed out. "On th'other hand... th'memories from th'past can lead t'confusion sometimes. It ain't always easy t'keep one set apart from th'other. It could give her somethin'... but it also could cause issues if she can't distinguish th'past and th'present..."
The cat blinked as Ellie mentioned a potential con to the whole notion of memories from the Silver Millennium. "...I.... I didn't realize that part of it..."
With a slight groan and side glance to make sure Annie wasn't coming down the stairs, she mentioned "Yeah... well... I kinda keep that sh*t on th'downlow, *********... What good is it gonna do me t'complain 'bout somethin' that others won't have t'deal with fer th'most part..."
The manx stood up and rubbed herself up against the tomboy's arms. "...Then I have one question for you..."
"...shoot?"
"Was her life good? Would there be any drastic repercussions of her remembering the past?" Her head tilted to the side from genuine curiosity.
Ellie looked the cat in the eyes. "I am obviously not her... and I don't know everything that there is to know about Psyche....but from what I did see of her life... it was good..."
She closed her eyes and smiled subtly. "...We will need to make sure that she knows going in that whatever she remembers is from over a thousand years ago..."
"...I'll try using the translator ahead of time... but if there are any true snags... I'll be sure to recruit Lydia..."
"...alright..." Even Ellie didn't know if it would be a good idea or not, but if anything, there was only one way to find out if this would be the right way to go about helping Annie. Just keep moving forward.

So Have You Heard...? It all started with a slow day at work.
Which left two coworkers and a manager to tend the shop portion of Hank's business. Phil was leaning back in a chair behind the cash register while Ellie took the opposite approach to things and had been cleaning shelves to keep her hands busy. Hank had a clipboard and several papers he was sorting through, reading, and filling out.
"Sooooo... ya'll see Tag Swagger's recent expose?" was innocently asked by Phil.
The blonde tomboy snorted and had to mention "I heard that ain't even his real name." Who the hell named their kid Tag and the last name definitely had to be fake.
"Not arguing that, Ellie," her auburn haired coworker pointed out before casting a glance to Hank.
Pushing his glasses up his nose, Hank answered more readily "Yeah, I saw it. Something about the Negaverse fighting the terrorists in the city..."
The blonde slammed her open palm against the display case she had just fussed with, causing all the contents to jostle very noticeably. "I saw it too, and it was a load of horse sh*t!" There was no subtle way of dealing with her emotions on the subject matter. When she was home, she was glad her parents hadn't been home, because she literally flipped the living room table (that was stacked with multiple piles of magazines and entertainment media). Before they had gotten home she had turned it back upright.
Both Phil and Hank soon enough had their eyes upon the rambunctious tomboy. Phil even sat himself up properly so he could get a better look. He was the one who was willing to ask the question aloud. "Why do you say that...?" It was obvious Hank was asking the same thing silently.
"I-it's just.... that station has always been so stacked when it comes to all political matters!" It wasn't the real solid truth, but she definitely was able to use that as an excuse. Most TV stations were biased one way or another. "They just report whatever they damned well please! Hell... I think that sh*t was staged just so they could get ratings!"
The auburn haired young man seemed satisfied with that rant, since he had been known to argue similar things about other things reported by the same station. However, the manager still kept a steady gaze upon Ellie. Eventually, he mentioned "Ellie... make sure you straighten up that shelf..."
"...ah.... right..." If it was possible for steam to come out of her nostrils, the hot air would have still been escaping. Her anger wasn't soothed at all, since the honest truth was not something she could share with these two. After all, she was the one the media had decided to label as the terrorist.
Her guiding thoughts for the rest of the day were pretty simple: ...if slaughtering the city as your own personal cattle is being a savior, then I would rather be the terrorist...

Order Abandoned (Ellie + ********* style="font-size: 11px">The dog was barking in the garage. It was a sure sign that the cat had returned.
Ellie's parents, were fortunately rather dead sleepers when they finally were knocked out, so the barking of a dog didn't cause anybody to get out of bed and investigate what was going on.
It would someday suck if they had a burglar lurking about, since that burglar would be able to make off with the whole house by the time anybody woke up.
Rather than wait for the cat to weasel her way into the house somehow, the tomboy went out the front door and made her way towards the tailless animal sitting right outside the garage.
"....sup?"
********* fur was frizzed out slightly, and she smelled of garbage at the moment. Truth be told, the Mauvian felt like garbage, so the stench was actually very suiting in her opinion.
"...Do you know Evie's sister?"
It was an odd question, but as Ellie sat down, leaning her back against the garage door, she gave an answer.
"I know of Evie's sister... never met 'er... just heard mention of 'er on occasion..."
There was a long silence (save for the steadily quieter whining sounds of the dog on the other side of the garage door). However, eventually the cat was out with the reason for the question.
"...Evie's sister is a senshi... a chibi senshi..."
The tomboy had never had siblings, or even sibling-like relationships. She considered herself as peers with her friends, not a false-sibling for them to take home with them. So her statement might have seemed flat, but it was completely out of a lack of empathy.
"...oh... that sucks..."
The cat didn't say anything immediately, and didn't seem bothered by the lack of enthusiasm in Ellie's response.
That was what made it evident that ********* wasn't her usual self at the moment.
"...okay... somethin' else is bugging you too... out with it..."
"...Evie just found out that her sister is a senshi... I didn't know... I was just doing what I would do for any senshi in need..." She had to pause and let out a pitiful mewing sound.
"...use yer words..."
"....I just got to witness an ugly fight between siblings... and Evie... I think she just quit the team..."
Ellie's expression seemed to grow rather sharp the moment the cat said the final tidbit. In an indignant tone, she prompted for further explanation with one word.
"What?"
The cat heaved in a huge breath, as if trying to calm herself. "She said she wants to stop powering up... to stop being a senshi. She wants to focus on being a regular girl again. Doesn't want to be what she was in the past, she wants to focus on the present."
Sh*t... of all the times for this to happen...
The blonde turned to look at the evening sky from her less-than-scenic spot in front of her garage. She ran her fingers through her own fluffy hair, ruffling it slightly.
"...what a f*ckin' selfish attitude t'take..." was snorted out at some point. Followed shortly with "....why didn't ya stop her?"
The cat's fur ruffled up more, showing her emotions a bit more than usual. "And how do you expect me to stop her? I can't sit there and make her call out her henshin phrase! It isn't my place to force any senshi to fight. I can only hope to guide them into making the right decisions..."
Curling up into a little ball on the concrete, the cat uttered out "...I failed her..."
The blonde shook her head and rather suddenly picked the small cat up by the scruff of her neck. "Oh no! Yer not gonna do that, *********! Yer not gonna sit there and blame yerself fer somethin' that is soooo blatantly an Evie issue. I don't get th'sister thing... but I don't really care 'bout that. I ain't gonna have ya wallowin' in self-pity because ya think ya f*cked up! So stop it now!"
With that, the tomboy dropped the cat.
After landing solidly upon her four paws, the cat sniffed indignantly at her blonde companion. "Tell me how you really feel, Ellie!" Feeling more desire to keep Anemone company, the feline padded away a bit.
"...either way, I plan to keep close to her, despite her attempt at resignation... I'll keep patrolling near her work place... we'll see what happens..."
Ellie rather sharply watched the cat and waited until she assumed she was by herself.
"...I don't like this..." she murmured out. The cat might have been okay with sitting by and waiting for Evie to change her mind. Ellie, on the other hand, had no plans to wait it out.
She was going to talk to Evie, one way or another.
