An extended profile about Ellie

User Image

Name: Elenore Spectre

Nicknames: Ellie, always goes by Ellie. Never ever goes by her birth name unless her mom is upset at her!

Age: 22 years old

Birthday: March 25

Gemstone: Aquamarine

Sign: Aries

Blood Type: B

Physical Description:
Hair: Long pale blonde hair, usually in an up-do held up by a pale pastel rainbow criss-cross hairband.
Eyes: Golden yellow
Face: No special features like freckles, dimples, or beauty marks. Usually a cheerful expression. Sometimes has car oil on her face from her work in the garage.
Body: Rather tall for her age, measuring in at 6'00". She is quite physically fit, but she won't share what her weight is.

Fashion: She enjoys punk fashion and plays around with it a lot. She has no piercings, but will wear jewelry like bracelets, bracers, necklaces, etc. She always wears a pale rainbow criss-cross headband, but occasionally she'll wear bandanas over it. When she's working in her garage on vehicles, she usually wears a jumpsuit normally worn by garage mechanics.

Family: She is the only child of Mr. Edward Spectre and Mrs. Katlyn Spectre. Due to the nature of being an only child, her parents try to spoil her as much as possible within their own financial means. Both Mr. and Mrs. Spectre are neck deep in the business world and spend very little time at home. This means that Ellie is frequently home alone.

Employment: Hank's Garage and Auto Repair, general repair associate

School: Meadowview High School ---> GRADUATED

Fav. Subject: Auto Shop

Least Fav. Subject: English and History

Hobbies:
Grease Monkey - She spends a lot of time working on fixing up vehicles in her garage. She's fixed up a motorcycle and is in the middle of working on a wreck of a car.
Racing - She enjoys the rush of going fast in a vehicle. Since her parents aren't around much, she can occasionally sneak out with her motorcycle and race it on the town.
Punk Fashion - Though she's not a big fan of shopping, she doesn't mind playing around with punk fashion. It is distinctly less gender specific in her eyes, thus why she's okay with continuing it as a hobby.
LET'S FIGHT - There's nothing more satisfying than a good old fashioned fist-fight. She's picked up plenty of knowledge and skills and has built her own loose style. She's pretty good, but she's definitely not the best out there. It's more fun to lose every so often anyways, since it gives her a challenge to work up to next time.

Dreams: Someday she'd like to have her own Auto Repair Shop.

Fears: Losing her parents, Cafeteria food, Riding on Airplanes

Fav. Color: She is partial to small spreads of pastel rainbows, however, in larger quantities, she prefers the color yellow.

Fav. Food: Mexican food

Hated Food: Sweets

Prized Possessions: Motorcyle and partially finished car she's working on fixing up by herself.

Fav. Animal: Medium to Large Dogs (small purse dogs are obnoxious in her opinion 8< )

Virtues:
Energetic -- Ellie loves to do things. Being idle is something she won't do, as she'll find something to do. None could accuse her of being lazy.
Hard Worker -- Ellie will never do something with only half the effort. When she does something, she will put forth at least 110%.
Tell It Like It Is -- Ellie has a very blunt manner of speaking, but she is good at communicating with others and informing them of things that happen. She does not sugar coat or exaggerate and will usually report information as it was given to her. It might not be pretty, but you can rely on the truth from this girl.

Flaws:
Impulsive -- Ellie is quick to make conclusions and many times acts without thinking things through thoroughly. She will be a bit of a liability for those who prefer to think things through rather than act quickly.
Views in Black and White -- For Ellie, there is not middle ground. You are either right or you are wrong. Due to such, she is not very sympathetic and comes across as strict in nearly any situation. She rarely understands (or attempts to understand) any "bad guy" that might not have a pure evil intention.
Tomboy -- This quality is somewhat a double edged sword. Where as it gives her more opportunities because she's willing to do things other girls might not be willing to, it also makes it so she cannot thoroughly understand her fellow female classmates. She has a hard time socializing with others that are female as a result (she'd rather be hanging out with the boys). It is also creating a bit of personal conflict, because she is the senshi of a really girly element, which is not exactly her highest priority.

Random fun facts about Ellie

  • As a kid growing up, she used to play soccer. The only reason she stopped was because she kept getting placed on girl teams, getting kicked off the teams because she used too much brute force, and was never allowed to join any boy teams.
  • Growing up, she was always the girl who got her growth spurt before the rest of the kids. She was always the tall and gangly girl.
  • There were a few years where Ellie refused to get her hair trimmed even slightly, resulting in Ellie looking like a shaggy dog with hair all in her eyes. Her mother had to eventually take her kicking and screaming to the barber to get her bangs trimmed.
  • Ellie never ate kiddie meals at fast food places as a kid. She ate one a single time, and went "That's it?" after devouring it. The toys meant nothing to her if she didn't feel full. She'd always order a value meal over a kiddie meal.
  • Ellie does not drink coffee at all. Not even decaf.
  • Ellie does not have an accent. She can in fact speak perfect English. She is just really lazy, so she relies on slang to pick up the slack for her.
  • Where many guys seem to assume that Ellie is a lesbian, she is actually far from it. She just doesn't see a point in the whole "dating" thing and refuses to take a part in it. She dreams about getting married in the future to a best friend rather than to a lover.
  • Ellie has a fear of planes, but the fear did not originate from her having a bad experience on one. As a child, she frequently went on airplanes to visit family. It was only when the media started announcing all of those airplane crashes that her fear really started to manifest. "It's not a fear of flyin', it's a fear of fallin'!"

The profile for Sailor Iris

User Image

Senshi Name: Sailor Iris

Senshi Power Sphere: Rainbows

Challenge: I'm Sailor Iris! It's time t'make ya see some new colors! / After the storm the Rainbow appears!

Senshi Level Attack:
NAME: Iris Rainbow Ribbon
[What it does] Sailor Iris' hand glows brightly with intense light. With that hand, she can summon a rainbow to use primarily like a lasso/rope. Mainly used as a diversion, but if an opponent gets "tied up," the light of the Rainbow ribbon can cause some damage (but nothing as effective as an attack meant solely for damage). Can slice through formless creatures (blob-Youma) and cause minor burns if in contact with flesh/formed creatures for too long. Only one ribbon can be summoned at a time, but overall, the ribbon can be summoned 2 times per battle (to start). With more experience, the number of ribbons summoned throughout a battle can go up.

Super Senshi Level Attack:
NAME: Iris Rainbow Slicer
[What it does] Similar to her previous attack, except now she can control the intensity of the light to her whims. Anything that is as dim as her previous attack (or lesser) is still considered a "Ribbon," but anything brighter and more intense is now considered a "Slicer." The brighter/more intense versions can cut through formless or flesh/formed creatures with much less effort, but things made of metal will only melt slightly if in contact with the Slicer too long. Only one ribbon/slicer can be summoned at a time still, but overall she can summon either 4 ribbons or 2 slicers. She can now summon ribbons that do not burn, even with long exposure.

Eternal Senshi Level Attack:
NAME: Iris Rainbow Revenge
[What it does] Using both hands, Iris forms a small-medium sized rainbow of bright colored light. Using the arch that is formed, Iris can throw this rainbow in a style similar to a boomerang. If everything is successful, it will cause moderate-heavy damage (usually in the form of a burn from the intense light) and typically stun the opponent. Iris can only use this attack one time in battle, and if for some reason the attack misses its mark, it is not renewable in any sense (the rainbow vanishes when it makes any impact, whether it is the ground or the back of Iris' own head).

However, this attack requires great skill and has much more potential to fail than to work properly.

  • It requires a great amount of energy and concentration to form the rainbow properly. If not created properly, when thrown, the color bands can break apart from each other and shoot in different directions, growing exponentially weaker for each time the rainbow breaks apart. If they form 2 separate bands, there is still hope for causing minor damage and stunning, but 3 separate bands or more are relatively ineffective. If it breaks down to the maximum number of 7 separate bands, it doesn't even feel like you got hit at all. (Note: There is no ricocheting effect in this attack at all, despite what the reference suggests) If anything, it does serve as a great distraction!
  • There's the saying that "it's all in the flick of the wrist." It is extremely applicable with this attack. This attack needs to be thrown a certain way to even make any distance, and requires great aim and foresight as well. If thrown improperly, it will only go a few feet, land on the ground, and disappear. If thrown decently enough, it can make distance, but not necessarily make a return loop back. If Iris doesn't have any sense of foresight, it is possible for it to loop back and hit her (or an ally) and essentially cause damage to herself (or the ally).
  • It's a one-shot deal! Iris cannot catch the attack in her hand when it loops back, otherwise she will take the full damage of the attack. If she misses the target, then she is SoL.

*SPECIAL* - Iris Tiara Magic: As a Princess-level senshi, she may remove her tiara and throw it at her opponents. It can be lethal to Youma, but merely serves as an annoyance to human-opponents.

Princess Senshi Level Abilities:
IRIS CRYSTAL POWER: Focusing on her crystal, Princess Iris can summon a giant rainbow which arches over the battlefield. The rainbow starts from where Iris is standing (extending 25 feet to each side of her, total of 50 feet width) and extends in one direction, ultimately ending up 200 feet in length. It takes about 15 seconds for the rainbow to form, and once formed, the rainbow lasts about 90 seconds before it fades.

Effect: (While under the area that the rainbow covers, there are two effects a character can experience)
  • For a character with any chaos tainting their starseed (Negaverse, DP Senshi, Corrupt Senshi), the effect that would be one of light while in the AoE. It would burn in a fashion similar to Iris’ Rainbow Revenge attack (moderate - heavy burn, depending on length of time in the AoE), the pain radiating from the starseed itself.
  • For a character who has no chaos in their starseed (senshi, knights, civilians), the effect would be one of water if the rainbow comes in contact with them. It would soothe, giving a slight healing effect (regen) while in the AoE. The most any character could regain from the regen given the maximum time for the attack would be about 10% of their total health (averaging 1% every 9 seconds). It is not meant to cure broken bones, but to supply a faint amount of relief.

Strengths: The dual nature of this power makes this an effective defense or offense. There is a bit of control with how Iris can decide the path the rainbow takes when it is first being formed. If the area is dark, it can supply light to the area.

Weakness: This attack requires a LOT of concentration on Iris’ part while it is being formed. Distract or directly attack her while the rainbow is being formed and the attack will dissipate prematurely, all energy that was meant to go into the attack completely lost. Also, due to the amount of concentration for forming this attack, Iris is not mobile. Higher ranking characters with the ability to teleport can teleport out of the AoE before the attack is fully formed.

LUCK OF THE RAINBOW: This secondary passive ability is activated when in Princess form. It essentially allows her one "free" dodge of a potentially devastating hit. However, it tends to just look as if she just got lucky in managing to avoid the hit, like she barely managed to get out of the way in time. It only seems to work one time in battle.

FLIGHT: In Princess form, Iris has limited abilities in flight. It takes a lot of work to get airborne and maintain approximately a 10 foot altitude. Once in the air, she is able to glide relatively easily. True flight will never be within her grasps.

About the team Sailor Iris is on

Team Name: They've been called "Main Belt Asteroids" or "Asteroids" for short.

Team Size: Nine Senshi and two Guardian Cats. A full team and proud of it!

Objective: The current objective is to have everybody work on bettering how they work as a senshi, each goal varying from senshi to senshi on the team. Also to help Psyche gain a bit of normalcy to her life again.

Stance on the Negaverse: Varies from member to member on the Asteroid team. However, Iris firmly wants to fight against the persecution from the Negaverse about where a person had been born in a previous lifetime.

Closer look at the members of the team:

*********, Guardian Cat - Also known as Cat. The gray spotted manx that has managed to turn Sailor Iris' life upside down. She takes forever to make an appearance, and the moment she does, she claims that Iris belongs to her and is part of a team of "Asteroid" senshi. Iris tends to bump heads with *********, convinced that the cat's objectives are strictly for her own personal benefit. However, after being forced into servitude for a two month period, Iris has learned how to "get along" with the cat in her own unique way.

Thetis, Guardian Cat - Also known as "Silver Paws." He was actually the last member of the team to be located after Psyche was purified. Iris found him in the park, and after messing with him a bit, she took him back to meet the team. He still splits his time at another home, but he's around when it is important.

Sailor Metis, Senshi of Third Sight - Also known as Lilith Calchas. Rank: Super. Ellie met her at the park and immediately took to liking the girl due to her dog. She was blind, but it made no difference to Ellie. She ran into her as Sailor Metis, who saved her at the park. Before knowing they were on a team together, Sailor Iris promised to train her. There was a small bit of tension due to finding out that Metis was supposedly part of the team which ********* insisted Iris was a part of, but after a few trials, Iris has at least accepted this girl as a teammate.

Sailor Parthenope, Senshi of Tar - Also known as Waylon Cartier. Rank: Super. He's a dude! He's a dude! He's a dude! Despite the somewhat rocky beginnings they had due to his actions in Elysion, Ellie has come to respect him. They have a lot in common, including a love for fighting (hurray, more brute force). He's not only a teammate, but a friendly rival.

Sailor Irene, Senshi of Peace - Also known as Lydia Sfakianos. Rank: Super. Iris saved Irene and her cousin in an alleyway from a rather sudden youma attack. Even though Lydia comes across as a rich-little-pushover to Ellie, she has found that the girl has more backbone than she would have initially thought.

Sailor Hygiea, Senshi of Herbs - Also known as Ridley Pendergast. Rank: Super. She is the younger sister of one of her classmates in high school and ridiculously annoying to Ellie. When Iris found out that this child was a teammate, she was not exactly thrilled, seeing as she's somewhat against kids being in this senshi-fight. However, Iris reluctantly goes along with the whole ordeal due to ********* insisting that "Destiny is not biased to age."

Sailor Egeria, Senshi of Mischief - Also known as Lissy Harrow. Rank: Super. MOST ANNOYING KID EVER! ********* went to camp with Ridley, then came back with another Chibi Senshi to their team! Ellie has found that this kid has a very smart mouth on her and likes to push limits (which Ellie, unfortunately, has plenty of). She won't sit idle and accept things blindly, frequently questioning what others are afraid to ask.

Sailor Eunomia, Senshi of Order - Also known as Evelyn Caffrey. Rank: Super. When ********* managed to find this girl and awaken her, she seemed to have a knack for hitting all of the wrong buttons on Iris. They have very conflicting ideas and very different tastes in EVERYTHING. They argue quite a bit, but it seems as if the two have a strange sense of respect for the other as well.

Sailor Victoria, Senshi of Glory - Also known as Feliks Vavrik. Rank: Super. How in the world did ********* get it wrong twice?! Victoria is actually a dude, and a skater one at that! To Ellie when they first met, he seemed a bit cocky and a little too invested in game-strategies compared to real experience. She hasn't had much time to learn much about him, but overall he seems like a pretty chill guy.

Sailor Psyche, Senshi of Breath - Also known as Anemone Annie Gray. Rank: Eternal. Iris assisted in the purification of a corrupt senshi who turned out to be an ally from another lifetime. After quite a bit of work, this girl's life seems back on track with a vague understanding of the English language and a home in Ellie's home.

[The Space Hitchhiker Guide]
[The Galactic Almanac]

Take a look into Sailor Iris' past

It was discovered early that the Princess Iris was the newly born Senshi of the asteroid due to the destined symbol appearing upon her forehead at various points in her early childhood. The King and Queen of the world were essentially responsible for overseeing all of the foreign exchange on asteroid Iris, which required them to remain in the Port City. They were not a part of the nomadic "Clan System," keeping out of the local politics in order to keep the foreign exchange alive.

When the princess had reached five years in age, the King Scepiet and Queen Mariengeld summoned the elder of the most successful clan. The young princess was given to this clan so she could become a member of their society until she had fully awakened as a Senshi. It was believed that living in the Grand Hall in the Port City would not give the unawakened senshi the experiences she would need to serve her people. Until her powers awakened, she lived in a clan originally led by a woman named Marjah. While she lived in the clan, it was expected that the Princess would learn skills to allow her to survive in the harsh desert environment as well as a trade. She showed a passion for the construction of the covered wagons which the clans relied on for shelter. She worked with one of the family groups that specialized in such a craft, and if she had stayed in the Clan system, constructing wagons would have become her trade.

During her time with the Clan, the Princess was expected to live with Marjah, since she was the clan’s elder. The elder was essentially expected to serve as a parental figure to the Princess, and was responsible for teaching the various skills the girl would need in the future. When the Princess was seven years old, Marjah passed away, leading to the next eldest member of the clan taking over her role. The new elder’s name was Babba, and prior to her new status, she had been a mirror maker. From the age of seven years to twelve years, the Princess lived with Babba, until the Princess’ powers as Sailor Iris had awakened. Upon her powers awakening, she was ejected from the "Clan System." Sailor Iris was dropped off at the Port City and was summoned by the King and Queen. Before parting ways, Sailor Iris received a gift from the Clan, a young white Sand Muncher. He was named Aque and had only recently grown large enough to serve as a beast of burden.

After Sailor Iris was reunited with her parents, she was introduced to the Mauvian, *********, who would be serving as the adviser for her Senshi duties. While they were in the Port City, Iris stayed at the Grand Hall only at night, spending much of the day working to make her own wagon so she could travel her asteroid once again. Iris also had to balance her time so she could train and learn with *********. The cat taught the senshi about her duties to her asteroid home, and spoke of her duties to the rest of the asteroids her home was allied with. ********* also seemed to have it in her mind that the Princess had some sort of talents in dance that had not been tapped into yet and insisted on working with the new senshi on developing these skills beyond the required religious dances. It took about three months for the senshi to build herself a solidly functioning wagon, but the moment she had finished, she, Aque, and ********* went to tend to the main duty she had to the asteroid: the Sacred Lands.

Though she had learned skills in navigating the desert with the clans, she still had much to learn about surviving. The trio had to rely on encountering other clans and bartering away Iris’ skills with wagons for the essentials to survive. Many times she would need to construct spare wheels, but on a few rare occasions a new bed to the wagon would need to be made. It took about two months for the Senshi to finally make it to the base of the Sacred Lands. Though ********* had prepared the girl to the best of her abilities, it took the child another three days to summon up the courage to start her journey. Due to her age, the child brought many things to ensure her survival in the harshest of environments during her journey. It took Sailor Iris three days to make it to the temple, and after completing her task it took another two days to make it back to the bottom again. She had run out of supplies during this journey and was on the verge of death by the time she had returned to her cart. Fortunately, Babba’s clan had made their way as close to the Sacred Lands as they were permitted and were there to essentially nurse the child back to good health.

It took about two and half weeks for the senshi to make a full recovery, and when she did, she made her way back to the Port with ********* and Aque. From the Port, the trio traveled to Metis, Parthenope, Irene, Hygiea, Egeria, Eunomia, Victoria, and Psyche upon ********* advisement. During the lengthy travels to the various asteroids, Iris had more time to train with ********* in regards to dance, which the senshi was growing increasingly more interested in. With each stop, ********* insisted that Iris locate the senshi of that particular asteroid. On Irene, Hygiea and Egeria the senshi for those worlds had yet to have their powers awakened, but the rest had a senshi that had their powers awakened. Though ********* was friendly and insisted on making nice with the various senshi, the first visits were simply formal business. Iris’ focus was merely on learning more about the different worlds through actual experience. She attempted to live in each world anywhere from 2-4 weeks after meeting the world’s senshi, most times living with each senshi. She tried to assimilate into the various societies, which many times proved to be difficult or sometimes even impossible. After her stay, she would move onto the next world until she had checked in with each of the allied asteroids. After that, she needed to return home to tend to her duties yet again to her own home world.

Another two years passed, and Iris continued to tend to her duties as usual, spending approximately two months on her own world and the rest of the year with the other worlds, frequently acting as the negotiator for foreign exchange (in the place of her parents). During that time, she developed closer relationships with the various senshi, and a new senshi was awakened on Irene. ********* continued to train Iris in dance, incorporating the use of Iris’ Rainbow Ribbon, but also began to work with the other senshi from the other asteroids in regards to possible talents she noticed. ********* frequently would make her own journeys, independent of Iris, so she could help the other allied senshi.

When Iris turned fifteen years old, she had discovered that this regiment of duties and scheduled travel no longer seemed to satisfy her need to wander. She sought council with *********, and after several conversations, they decided to approach the other senshi about starting up a traveling show. It took a lot of persuasion on ********* part, but eventually they formed a small circus group. They traveled not only to their allied asteroids, but to asteroids outside of Iris’ usual travels in an effort to introduce something new and exciting to her life. ********* functioned as the ringleader and organized everything, all while remaining a cute little cat.

For another three years, they continued to travel, but eventually returned to both Hygiea and Egeria once they had heard news of the senshi on those asteroids finally awakening. These two senshi were the youngest members, but seemed quite eager to join the rest. Every year Iris would return back to her home to tend to her duties and briefly visit her parents. The allied territories remained neutral during the war times and did not fight any battles, though as with every world in the Silver Millenium, the war caught up with them, eventually ending everything.

Due to how necessary trade was for the survival of the asteroid of Iris, when one of the two opposing sides in the war decided to enforce an embargo, it practically ensured the end of the desert world. Sailor Iris did as much as she could to help the people of her world, but they were far too stubborn to change their ways, deciding it would be better to perish holding firmly to their beliefs than to move away. The senshi practically ran herself ragged in her final days, trying to bring as much water as she could to the others of her world. She eventually met her end amidst the vast desert, and after several days, Aque perished as well, though it was his own choice since he merely refused to eat. Princess Iris had lived and died for her people.

Miscellaneous information on the Asteroid and Greek Mythology.

Iris, the Asteroid:

As understood in the present from Earth:
(7) Iris is a large main belt asteroid. It was the seventh asteroid discovered, on August 13, 1847 by J. R. Hind from London, UK. It was Hind's first asteroid discovery. Iris is among the S-type asteroids and it ranks fifth in geometric mean diameter after Eunomia, Juno, Amphitrite and Herculina.

Its bright surface and small distance from the Sun make Iris the fourth brightest object in the asteroid belt after Vesta, Ceres, and Pallas. But at typical oppositions it marginally outshines the larger though darker Pallas. It has a mean opposition magnitude of +7.8, comparable to that of Neptune, and can easily be seen with binoculars at most oppositions. At rare oppositions near perihelion Iris can reach a magnitude of +6.7, which is as bright as Ceres ever gets and reports of it being seen without optical aid are unverified.

Lightcurve analysis indicates a somewhat angular shape. This gives an axial tilt of 85°, so that on almost a whole hemisphere of Iris, the sun does not set during summer, and does not rise during winter. On an airless body this gives rise to very large temperature differences. Iris' surface likely exhibits albedo differences, with possibly a large bright area in the northern hemisphere.

The surface of Iris is overall very bright and is probably a mixture nickel-iron metals and magnesium- and iron-silicates. Planetary dynamics also indicates that it should be a significant source of meteorites.
The orbit of Iris compared with the orbits of Earth, Mars and Jupiter

Iris was observed occulting a star on May 26, 1995 and later on July 25, 1997. Both observations gave a diameter of about 200 km. Iris regularly comes within 0.4AU of Mars and will next do so on November 2, 2054

The Culture of the Past:

In the past, the world of Iris was a dark-sanded desert world. It had been rumored that at one point the world had water. However, as long as any Iridian could remember, there had never been any natural source of water on the asteroid.

Iridian Landmarks:
  • The Port City - The Iridian world literally only had one city. It was not a lavish place, the buildings being carved of pale stone. It was the place where foreigners started and ended their journeys on this world. The city was essentially treated by the natives as a sort of tourist trap, due to the vast amount of foreigners that sought out "good deals" in bartering. The most skilled Iridian traders lived here.
  • The Vast Desert - Welcome to the rest of the world! Aside from the Port City, the rest of the Iridian world was literally a desert. The world was covered with a substance that seemed similar to black
sand and seemingly nothing else. The majority of native Iridians could be found traveling the Vast Desert in their Nomadic Clans. There were very few native species of flora and fauna to the asteroid of Iris due to the lack of any natural source of water.
  • The Edge - One section of the world underwent strange seasonal patterns during the year. This area had such a strange shape to it that it did not get any sunshine during the winter, and received constant sunshine at all hours of the day during summer. During spring and fall, it got varying amounts of sunlight, depending on how close it is to the next season. Clans frequently traveled this area since it did cover a decent span of the Vast Desert.
  • The Sacred Lands - The northern-most point was the brightest part of the asteroid, though it was assumed that might not have always been the case in the long distant past. There were several structures that were made and located in the Sacred Lands with no logical explanation. It was like the Earth equivalent to any inexplicable ancient structures, essentially remaining an eternal mystery. At the "Gateway" to the Sacred Lands, there was a large pale archway, seemingly made of pale stone or ivory. It led to a mountain that seemed to be made out of black stone that held a rainbow-sheen to it. The land itself held the most drastic heat and light, and if not properly prepared, an individual could have easily met their end in the Sacred Lands. At the top of the mountain, a matching archway stood, as well as a simplistic well-like structure made of the same material. The only person permitted to go to the Sacred Lands was the world's senshi, and the general population fiercely protected such a sacred tradition. Any stray foreigners that tried to find their way to the Sacred Lands would be greeted by very unfriendly Iridians.
  • NOTE - I did not give these features any official names since the Iridians were prone to call things by general "nicknames" rather than any sort of official sounding name.

The Native Iridians:
An actual look at the population of the asteroid reveals that a vast majority of the natives had darker skin, as if from the Middle East (on Earth). This was mostly an adaptation to the extreme temperatures/amount of sunlight they were exposed to. However, any sort of hair color was found native to Iris. Just as many people had blonde hair as they did dark hair. There were fair skinned people in the population, and in this world they were rare, essentially being viewed by the people as exotic. Overall, they were seen as a very energetic race of people who prided themselves on hard work.

A general observation that was made in the past, but could never really scientifically be explained was the fact that all natives of Iris had excellent color perception. This might not seem like something amazing, but with their bartering system, it was quite helpful in distinguishing whether something was the "real deal" (gold) versus a "cheap imitation" (some other lesser metal). It did take some training to teach the differences, but even with the most minimal training, an Iridian could see the differences upon a casual glance.

Social Hierarchy:
  • Senshi - Responsible for maintaining various sacred duties as well as maintaining good relations with the allied Asteroid worlds. Occasionally would receive direct orders from Royalty and was expected to follow through with any orders given. Functions outside of the Clan system and is deemed as a higher importance than even Royalty.
  • Royalty - Responsible for maintaining Foreign Exchange and Affairs. Due to the vast amount of foreign exchange the royals were expected to watch over, it left little to no room for managing local politics. Royalty was respected due to the vast amount of dedication it took to keep their world alive via foreign exchange. An individual could either be born into royalty or married into royalty. A married royal was expected to take on the same amount of responsibility as a born royal.
  • Clan Elder - The political leaders of the world. They were the eldest members of a family group and made all of the decisions for their Clan. The Clans themselves would be named after the respective Elder. The elder made all of the decisions for the group, their rulings never being questioned within the Clan itself. The elders were responsible for ensuring their Clan had enough necessities to survive during their travels, would lead the groups to finding any of the scant natural resources available, and if their water supplies ran low, lead their Clan back to the Port City. Most times the politics came across as personal squabbles between individual Clan Elders.
  • Clan - A vast majority of the society lived in nomadic family groups. These individuals lived in covered carts and wagons with their immediate family. They all were expected to have a trade which they specialized in, usually separated by the different immediate families. All members of a Clan were expected to work hard to ensure the survival of the whole group. It was very rare to find a lazy Iridian.
  • Port Traders - These were the individuals that for one reason or another decided to settle down in the Port City. They were considered the bottom of the social hierarchy due to their lack of family ties. Most Port Traders had no families, were unkempt, and were seen as the most cut-throat of traders in the society. They thrived off of trading with foreigners, essentially acting like vendors in a "tourist trap."

The Economy: There was no real currency on Iris. Everything was done on a barter system. Every family group usually had some sort of craft or trade they were masters of, with the adults training the children in these crafts/trades. Sometimes these trades would even be simple as a performance skill (juggling, acrobatics, etc.). There was relatively little problem when it came to trades between two natives. If a non-native was present, many times they could get caught if they were frauds. The only place where non-natives could be found frequently was in the Port. It was actually considered in bad taste to have more than one needed (to hoard). Most times, natives felt it would slow the individual and the family down if they kept more than they needed to just get by. It was rare for those who lived on Iris to hoard any wealth, since people felt it was a sign of weakness. The only individuals in the society who could potentially hoard were the Port Traders.
Exports:
  • Paint - The sands of asteroid Iris held their own secrets, allowing the natives of Iris to make the most complete spectrum of paint colors. The secret to the craft of making paint was held dear to all natives and heavily guarded. It was essentially the world's bread-and-butter, opening trade with many different worlds.
  • Nickel-Iron Metals - Considering how much of this there was on the surface of the asteroid, it generally makes sense for this to be something the asteroid specializes in. Most times it would be exported as the unrefined metal, but occasionally it would be refined/crafted and exported as well. It was not a very strong metal in comparison to others available.
  • Sand Crunchers (L) & Sand Munchers (R) - Two beasts of burden native to the asteroid of Iris, meant for heavy pulling and lifting. They did have a more "scientific" name, but the natives most commonly referred to them as Crunchers and Munchers. They were also relatively easy to take care of, for they ate different types of sands and dirt (depending on the surrounding). Both species were domesticated by the Iridians. Where as the two species were commonly found together, the two species were not compatible when it came to breeding. Both Munchers and Crunchers usually produce 1 calf per breeding, though sometimes they would rarely produce 2 calves. Any more per breeding would be a great stress upon the mother. Crunchers had a very Camel-like appearance. They lacked actual ears, but had horns similar to giraffes. They had scruffy fur on several areas, including under the chin, behind the horns and along the shoulders. The scruff on the shoulder helped a passenger hold on while riding. Crunchers also had horse-like tails, which could be trimmed to make brushes. Unlike Camels from earth, Crunchers always had one hump of fat (never two). They averaged 9'6" in height and weigh approximately 1500 lbs. Crunchers were the louder eaters and the sturdier of the two species. Munchers were more Llama-like in appearance. They had significantly longer ears compared to the llamas from earth (an adaptation to the heat). They had strong prehensile tails and used this to help them pull things along that weighed much more than themselves. Munchers were smaller in stature compared to the Crunchers. They averaged 9'0" in height and weighed approximately 500 lbs. It is said that Munchers had a friendlier disposition. Munchers were considered more valuable since they had wool which was sheared and used to make a durable cloth.
  • Wool - As a result of the Sand Munchers being native to Iris, their wool was also a natural resource of sorts for the asteroid. The Munchers were sheared, and the wool was used to make all sorts of cloth. The cloth was very durable and frequently used to cover the carts the natives lived in. It was not used for clothing so much, but for protective wraps. The wool could be sent as a raw material to places with extreme cold or warm temperatures.
  • Brushes - Various brushes could be made from the tail hair of the Sand Crunchers. The hair was very stiff, but soft. Brushes for hair were common, but the most common practice was to pair paint brushes with the paint they bartered away.
  • Sand Root - A plant native to Asteroid Iris. Its claim to fame was the fact that it did not need any water and got the nutrients it needed via the sand and the sunlight. It was in season all year round, but would only grow in areas that had sunlight. Above ground, one could spot a patch of Sand Root by the dark silk (similar to cornsilk) in the sand. The root itself was edible and red-brown in color. Since it did not need any water, the edible portion of the plant was very tough, similar in quality to dried out meats (jerky). The flavor of the root was like a strange combination of vegetable jerky and sand. Though the flavor might not have been the most desirable, Sand Root was considered a staple food on the asteroid due to how nutrient-rich it was. It was customary for any clan, if they encountered a patch of Sand Root, to harvest the plant, but to replant a few smaller portions so that they would grow again. This was a natural resource that many clans would potentially fight over.
Imports:
  • Water - Asteroid Iris was a desert. Deserts lack in the water department. It was a precious resource that was worth a great amount. Many clans stocked up on water at the Port city before resuming their travels. In general, they would take imports of water from any of the asteroids, but Egeria was the main supplier for Iris due to the abundance of water on Egeria.
  • Oil - Import from Parthenope. Good for lighting fires during cold nights in the desert.
  • Ivory - Import from Parthenope. Could be used for crafting. Many times it was seen in jewelry and some structures in the Port City. Also a very important product used in the process of making paint.
  • Natural items - This is a rather open category of imports. Pretty much any natural item of an interesting color was a good import for Iridians. These items could then be used to make paint, which then could be bartered away for much rarer items. Plants, animal fur, stones, precious metals, all could easily be used to make paint and were valued as imports.

Iris, the Greek Goddess:

In Greek mythology, Iris is the personification of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. As the sun unites Earth and heaven, Iris links the gods to humanity. She travels with the speed of wind from one end of the world to the other, and into the depths of the sea and the underworld.

Iris is frequently mentioned as a divine messenger in the Iliad which is attributed to Homer, but does not appear in his Odyssey, where Hermes fills that role. Like Hermes (also known as Mercury), Iris carries a caduceus or winged staff. By command of Zeus, the king of the gods, she carries an ewer of water from the Styx, with which she puts to sleep all who perjure themselves. Goddess of sea and sky, she is also represented as supplying the clouds with the water needed to deluge the world, consistent with her identification with the rainbow.

According to Apollonius Rhodius, Zetes and Calais, who numbered amongst the Argonauts, Iris delivered the prophet Phineas from the attentions of the tormenting Harpies. The winged heroes, the Boread, pursued the Harpies to the Strophades (`Islands of Turning'), where they were turned back, repelled by Iris. This eventful 'turning' may have resulted in the islands' name. They succeeded in driving away the monsters but did not kill them, as requested by Iris, who promised that Phineas would not be bothered by the harpies again. As thanks, Phineas told the Argonauts how to pass the Symplegades.

According to Hesiod's Theogony, Iris is the daughter of Thaumas and the ocean nymph Electra, an Oceanid. Her sisters are the Harpies, Aello and Ocypete. Iris is married to Zephyrus, who is the god of the west wind. Their son is Pothos (Nonnus, Dionysiaca). In some records she is a sororal twin to the Titaness Arkhe (arch), who flew out of the company of Olympian gods to join the Titans as their messenger goddess during the Titanomachy, making the two sisters enemy messenger goddesses. Iris was said to have golden wings, whereas Arkhe had iridescent ones. She is also said to travel on the rainbow while carrying messages from the gods to mortals. During the Titan War, Zeus tore Arkhe's iridescent wings from her and gave them as a gift to the Nereid Thetis at her wedding, who in turn gave them to her son, Achilles, who wore them on his feet. Achilles was sometimes known as podarkhes, or "wing-footed with Arkhe's wings". Not much is written about Iris' twin sister.

According to the Dionysiaca of Nonnos, Iris' brother is Hydaspes (book XXVI, lines 355-365).

In Euripides' play Heracles, Iris appears alongside Madness, cursing Heracles with the fit of madness in which he kills his three sons and his wife Megara.

Iris had numerous poetic titles and epithets, including Chrysopteron (Golden Winged), Podas ôkea (swift footed) or Podênemos ôkea (wind-swift footed), and Thaumantias or Thaumantos (Daughter of Thaumas, Wondrous One). Under the epithet Aellopus (Αελλόπους) she was described as swift-footed like a storm-wind. She also watered the clouds with her pitcher, obtaining the water from the sea.

Iris is represented either as a rainbow, or as a young maiden with wings on her shoulders. As a goddess, Iris is associated with communication, messages, the rainbow and new endeavors.

About the people Ellie knows, whether she likes them or not

NPC - Characters part of Ellie's life that are played by LizzyMoo:

Dad - Ellie's dad is a used car salesman and likes money a lot. If he thinks he can con you into "a deal," he'll be certain to take advantage of the situation. Even though he can be seen as the stereotypical "sleazy car salesman," he loves his daughter and insists upon spoiling her when he can (he's the reason she has her project in the garage).

Mom - Ellie's mom is a secretary for an important business executive. She is hardly seen around the house because her boss is very needy and can't do much without her (but at the same time, that relationship is completely innocent). Of the two parents, Ellie's mom is the one in charge of discipline. Though her husband tends to dote over his only daughter, she prefers to show her love through raising her daughter "properly."

Jared Keth - One of Ellie's two closest friends. He's a rather intelligent guy, but rarely works to his potential. As a result, he tends to get in a lot of trouble in school. He doesn't seem to have many similar interests with Ellie, and in the past the pair have been teased over the rumor of him having a crush on her.

Juan "Zuniga" - One of Ellie's two closest friends. He goes by his last name since Juan is a relatively common name in his culture. He plays soccer and loves motorcycles (which is part of the original reason he and Ellie became friends). He frequently tries to spend time with his friends, but his devotion to his sport sometimes prevents him from being able to just chill.

Phil - Employee at the Junkyard/garage and a friend in the car-fixing business. He's a high school drop out who fell back onto this line of work. He's a very casual guy who likes nothing more than good conversation (and slacking off at work).

Hank - The manager at the Junkyard/garage and a professional acquaintance of her father's. Though Ellie is quite casual with him, she respects him due to her father's influence. He has her father's credit card on file and allows Ellie to pick whatever parts she needs for her after school project (charging her afterward of course). He is a relatively serious businessman, but at the same time, he is very good with customers (yelling at him).

Aque - The two year old Blue Merle Australian Shepherd the Spectres adopted. He is 100% Ellie's responsibility. He was a rescue and has some issues with separation anxiety, but overall he's a good dog and will try to be Ellie's shadow whenever he is able to. He's prone to making random noises and crying if he's lonely. Named after one of her most beloved friends from another lifetime.

Prized items Ellie owns outside of the shop's jurisdiction

The Spectrum - Ellie's motorcycle. She got it from her parents as a gift when she was 15 years old. It was a yellow and black 2003 Honda Rc211v motorcycle that she modified so it has a bit of rainbow paint on the back. In the past, she was known to drive the motorcycle despite not having a license yet, using it for motorbike racing. She now has a license, and is not afraid to use it!

The Vortex - Ellie's current work-in-progress. Her dad managed to pull some strings at work to get her essentially half a car. It is her favorite project to work on in her spare time. It doesn't look like anything special, just because it is all in pieces. Ellie hopes to get this project into "racing shape" by the time she graduates from High School.

Tool Set - She tends to leave these in her garage, since that is where she does most of her work. Used to fix up "The Vortex."

Backpack - Instead of using a purse like most other girls, Ellie relies on using her backpack to hold most of her everyday items. She doubles it up for a book bag for school. It's made of denim and has random pencil drawings on the outside (though none of the drawings are all that good).
