**Though we decided that a plot of this scale is best run through the shop and shop mules, we would like to personally thank Lucifer Force for this event/plot! This plot was her brain child and wouldn't have been possible without her ideas and hard work! Destiny City Eclipse Viewing Party Please note that this is not a run of the mill ORP just for fun. By posting in this thread you are signing up your character to participate in a short event and be affected by the results of this RP (should not last longer then a month OOCly, 1 week ICly). If you do not want to participate in this event do not post in this thread. You may join the event at any time by posting in here.Quote: For weeks meteorologists have been talking about a lunar eclipse, with the chatter escalating the closer it got to the official date. Unlike a solar eclipse, the safe visibility with the naked eye of a lunar eclipse presented a unique opportunity for viewing, especially with a clear summer night on the forecast. Given the opportunity, the mayor and Destiny City Hall took it upon themselves to fund a few official eclipse parties across the city, encouraging local shopping, tourism and general good will. Drinks, food, live music and entertainment were provided in conjunction by the city and businesses participating. Games and events such as a scavenger hunt, moon pie eating contests, a mixology contest, and lunar-themed costume contest were being advertised to further add to the excitement. As the day finally arrived the chatter and activity had reached an apex, it seemed like everyone knew about the event between sea of flyers littering the city and the mentions via news broadcasts. The main streets of Destiny City are filling with people ready to shop, party, and watch the moon. The eclipse is expected to last a few hours. But the party? Well who ever knows how long a good party is going to go on! Rules for the Viewing RPThis RP takes place over a fairly large swatch of the city, so pay close attention to where people say they are, as people RPing might not necessarily be right next to each other ICly. This RP is civilian only. Due to the event being run and funded by the city the city government has gone out of their way to post as many officers and security guards around. It's just not safe to be powered up in this situation because you would be noticed.

Please note that this party lasts ICly from 5 PM to Midnight, with the actual eclipse being at 9:14 PM. Stay tuned for that. ninja
OOCly, this ORP shouldn't last for more than a few days to a week at most!
And it is now OPEN!

Sade had brought a blanket and a picnic basket, it was nice that she could get away from Saint Mags and do something besides DJing this late at night. She was nibbling on dried cherries as she walked to find a nice spot for spreading out the blanket.
"Now... then." The purple haired girl paused and started spreading out her blanket sort of in the middle of the field were everyone was going to watch the eclipse.

Kor just kind of showed up with his own cooler full of drinks and a blanket. He wasn't sure where he was going or doing, but he picked a spot he thought would be good and spent little time to spread his blanket. The cooler was put on the corner and he flopped down gracelessly down with a sigh. Green eyes closed until he hear someone speak and he peeked out at a girl with purple hair.
Huh. Oh well. He pulled his hoodie around him and he just closed his eyes. Maybe Richard would find him, maybe not.
====
Serenity had things all set up. She had texted Lila to meet her in the field. She brought her own chairs and basket large enough for food, drinks, bug spray, whatever else they'd need for tonight. All she told Lila was to bring her beautiful self and they'd make it a date.
She picked a spot closer to, what she hoped, was the center of the field, and started to set up, completely nervous. She always got nervous when she was going to meet Lila for a date. After she sat the chairs down and the basket in the middle of them, Serenity sat, pulling her skirt under her like a proper lady and then crossed her legs at the ankles.

Christa yawned, stretching before placing her hands back in her sweater pockets. She was dressed modestly, in earth tones, as she usually did. Her brother, Zach, was bobbing along next to her, checking out "all the babes" as he usually did on their outings. Their father insisted they spend some quality sibling time while he finished up some work and being the eldest, Christa was the unfortunate chaperon. The pair walked down Main Street through the heart of the block party at Zach's insistence. "Zach, please stop winking at every girl you see. It's creepy." "I thought you liked creepy." She sighed. "I do, but this is borderline sexual-deviant-creepy." Zach dismissed her with a wave. "Look, the ladies love the attention and I'm a hot guy, what's wrong with that?" "Zach, you're not hot. You're disgusting. And that woman looked like she was at least in her thirties. You're sixteen." "So what if I like older ladies? They need love too, CeeCee. Just wait until I have all the ladies comin' up to my bedroom." Christa couldn't roll her eyes hard enough. ---- Anandi was bouncing happily on a picnic setup she'd made just for Gwen. There was the obligatory checkered blanket, picnic basket filled with goodies and sparkling cider because why not! With the eclipse party in full swing, having a picnic under the stars just seemed like The Greatest Idea Ever. She quickly dialed Gwen's number on her cell. "Gweeeeen~"

[Anyone if free to approach Penelope or Krishna - just give me a quotey quote!]
Penelope was grateful for the added security as she took up a pair of flashlights. She had not used any of her Destiny City Council connections to get them - the mayor had decided they were necessary all on their own. For that, she was thankful. Maybe the lunar eclipse would be an event that all in her city could enjoy in safety. Enough had already been denied them.
She had decided to participate in the lunar-themed costume contest -- and by participate, she did not mean compete! Any such organized event needed some helpful volunteers, so that's where she came in. They HAD wanted her to come in costume, though, so... well, she had done her best. As she picked up her flashlights, a pair of antennae bobbed on her head and a set of flapped stiffly against her back.
Both pieces were pretty dorky and very obviously home made. The wings were made from poster board, ribbon, and paint. The antennae were basically pipe cleaners tied around a headband. The colors were directly from Mothra, a growing favorite kaiju of hers ever since Scott had introduced her to ways to see the rest of the winged-protector's movies. Flashlights taken, she began to direct foot-traffic in the direction of the costume contest, her quiet voice slightly louder than normal as she cheerfully announced, "All competitors to the right, all spectators to the left please!"
==
Krishna knew he should probably be trying to take advantage of the eclipse. There were plenty of moon-themed flowers and night-blooming plants that could attract interest. But truth be told... his mind was occupied with other matters. He had recieved a notification from his brother at last regarding their father's will and what his younger brother intended to do about Krishna's legal disinheritance. There was paper work to do, but it looked as though he would finally be able to move out of the shop and into a proper lodging. It was an exciting prospect, but it would mean another toil atop his already high list of responsibilities.
Then there were the many facets to his relationship with Richard...and he worried, even if he would not admit it aloud. His Negaverse partner and real life friend was going through a phase... and it was more than his normal drama. The loss of Lucca had affected the confectioner deeply; this, in turn, affected Krishna. He already had a plan in motion that would, hopfully, get the ginger out of hs rut, but that was a concern for another night.
Tonight, the florist simply wanted to act as a spectator. Sip quietly on a beer and watch people as they went past and enjoyed various events. Take note of the interesting, as well as the weak for future hunting. People watching had become a rare treat as more and more of his life was consumed by one of his two occupations. Tonight, when the moon went dark, he would watch its majesty.
Until then, he would enjoy his six pack of lager and watch the moon pie eating contest. How did they convince them to shovel those digusting things into their mouths? All squishy marshmallow and mediocre chocolate and... pastry. Perhaps more pressing how did they shove so many in at once?

Michael Gallo, although not nearly as into astronomical phenomena as his youngest brother, was present at the event to watch the lunar eclipse. But it wasn’t the moon he was watching — it was the people around him. A long history things turning sour when there were a lot of people around had Michael wary that there might be a horrible plot to sap everyone’s energy, or starseeds, without them even realizing they were surrounded.
Everyone chatting and laughing he ignored… he was looking for those who were lurking in the darkness, maybe near the alleyways or away from the lights of the shops that were open specially for the viewing. It would be there that the Negaverse or DMC would lurk, waiting…
He sat on a bench he had claimed once its previous occupants had gotten up to get a funnel cake or something, a barely touched beer bottle in his hands. Part of him wished he had powered up and just hid in the trees, making sure there wasn’t anything suspicious going on, but it would be too dangerous with so many people.
Out of the corner of his eye, he did catch a glimpse of something — a sparkle of something reflecting a little bit of light in the dark — but he relaxed when he realized they were only pearls that had been strung through a certain someone’s hair.
“Lune!” he called with a small, almost forced grin, and a raise of his hand that looked more like a half hearted salute than a wave.

Although he wore a tin foil hat, a blanket that had been formed into a cape of sorts, rainboots and carried a butterfly net, Peter Gallo was not planning on participating in any of the costume contests. As far as he was concerned, it was just a popularity contest and there were more important things to do than stand around to let people laugh at how silly everyone looked.
No, Peter was on a more important mission. Along with his butterfly net, he had a camera on a strap around his neck, and he had every intention of catching the whole lunar eclipse on camera. Because why just watch it when he could go back and rewatch it over and over? It would be awesome. How Rhiannon got roped into babysitting that night was beyond her. She’s only ever met the kid on a couple other occasions when she was invited to his family gatherings and events, but other than that, she knew little about Peter.
But she was not there to really participate in the lunar gathering. She was just there to earn a few extra bucks so she could pay for her car insurance that month. Rhiannon knew that if she asked her aunt for help that she would in a heartbeat, but how could she learn how to fend for herself if she asked others for help?
Ah, well… that’s how she got roped into babysitting, then.
Instead of any crazy outfit, like Peter, she wore shorts and a hoodie, and regretted her choice in Keds instead of warmer foot attire. Her legs were freezing, but there wasn’t much she could do about that at this point in time.
(If anyone wants to chat with Peter and Rhiannon, just quote me! <3 )—————————————————————————— ”Did you want anything to eat? Or drink?” Chris offered, digging a hand into his back pocket for his wallet. It had been a while since he and Paris had gone anywhere on an official “date” and while this wasn’t the most romantic of locations, it was the least they could do, right? Paris enjoyed being around people, at least more than he did, and it was a pretty big event, it seemed. Might as well have some fun!
Or at least as fun as a boring couple as they were could have. Chris would openly admit that he was definitely not the most exciting husband to have, especially when it came to going out. He would much rather keep his company to a few and spend quality time with them than jump into a sea of people.
But, he reminded himself, there had to be more than just sitting around watching movies and calling it a “romantic” evening. Despite being the least romantic person in the world, or so he self-appointed himself to be, he did at least try from time to time.
And if that meant turning a blind eye to Paris’s fake ID and letting her drink with him, well… why not? They were there to have fun, right??

To Zach, it was love at first sight. Christa couldn't stop him before the boy bolted out of her reach. With an audible and exasperated sigh, the gray-haired girl had no other option than to follow her brother and find out who the object of his fancy had become this time. To her horror, it was Penelope. Despite the fact that Christa had never formally introduced the two, Christa had at least described what she looked like and her general demeanor. Christa liked and respected Penelope and to Zach, that meant clearly, Penelope was hot. And hotness needed complements. He could hear his sister's vehement protests behind him and, without a care in the world, sauntered up to poor Penelope and laid it on a bit thick. "Hey there beautiful, need someone to watch the stars with tonight?" Christ was behind him by roughly ten yards, yelling. "Zach, leave her alone! She's out of your league! You're disgusting--!"Quicksilver the Archangel

Standing near the tree Hannah had mentioned to her in the text, an old one they had tried to climb in their youth, Delilah was waiting for her childhood friend to show. They had both heard about the lunar event and planned to attended together of course. So as she stood in the shadow of the tree, Delilah was going over everything she had in her larger bag on her shoulder.
A blanket, flashlight, her wallet and a few snacks just encase she had to stop Hannah from over shopping some of the vendors. The thought made her smirk as she dug out her phone and looked at the time.
"I wonder if she decided to dress up?" Delilah was smiling as she slipped the phone into her jean pocket instead of the bag. She didn't go all out but she had worn a black shirt and placed with it golden jewelry in the shape of the crescent moon.

At first, Gwendolyn Caspian was against the idea of such an event, if only because recent gatherings have made her extremely… on edge, about stepping into another public affair, but the idea of added security, as well as Anandi's begging and pleading, made it to where she'd have to be a paranoid, heartless monster to not go! Besides, if she knew her girlfriend, she likely had a feast prepared for her, and who was Gwen to say no? She'd take on all of the Negaverse if she could, if it meant to get a taste of some of that sweet Anandi and Anandi's mother's cooking. Except that she was running late! Which was unforgivable! But she had her reasoning and she had remembered to bring all of the photos and paperwork in case she ran into Mr. Krishna during the festivities. Not that she wanted to drag the festivities down, but she couldn't help but feel excited over the plan that she and her boss were concocting. She was certain that he'd approve of her choice… or she'd eat one of his bouquets! The phone rang and Gwen dared not let it reach past the second ring. "Anandi, I'm late! Forgive me… keep the food warm, I am totally on my way right now! Just leaving the library and I'm heading your way!" Straight to the park for her! There, she'd take full advantage of the added security and just enjoy the evening with her girlfriend and some damn good food. Let the police and security officers handle the bothersome stuff for now. Lucifer Force ABSOLUTELY BBGURRRRRRL, GWEN'S TOTES THERE! --- Alcohol was his greatest friend, and foe, all at once. Richard Moreau knew that he might have overindulged just a little, but with the dramatic sob story his life had become in such a brief time, he was certain no one would blame him.
The good news about this Eclipse Festival thingiemabobber was that with the added security, he'd be able to just walk around and participate in any activities he wanted to and not have to worry about anything. No duties, as either Richard Moreau the confectioner, as his store was closed for renovations and his twin brother was in town to take care of ALL that boring minutia. No duties as Captain Blunderallnight. No Senshi, no knights.
Just a night for him to indulge in a few drinks, and indulge he did as he was already feeling just a tiny bit tipsy. He skipped over the buzzed part and found himself very close to stumbling, but if anyone asked, he'd say he was dancing.
Yes, that's right. Dancing. Horribly. That Gangbang style was a horrible dance, so he'd say he was doing that. He'd track down Krishna and watch people stuff their faces on fattening pies, and drink a little more, if Krishna would let him. That was his plan, as he stalked and stumbled around Main Street, decked head to toe in his finest attire and hoping that his shades and white fedora distracted from the derped-out drunk look in his crimson eyes. He had every intention of making his way to the Pie Eating Contest.
Except that he had no idea where that was. Or where he was. He fumbled with his cellphone, pressing the call on the first 'K' he saw, and he gave a loud belch as his hello, before cackling. "I'M LOST."Quicksilver the Archangel ((Feel free to interact with Gwen in the park and Richard on Main Street. Scott and Nyasa to come later!))

For a party of this magnitude, even if he hated crowds, Lune Dracnir had to make an appearance. Everyone who was anyone at least made a show at these sorts of things. This much, at least, he had learned from his parents. You just got to smile, give the occasional how do you do, and took off. At least people could say they had seen you.
So Lune had gone all out for being seen. A well fitted jacket, a nice vest… yes, Lune was certainly looking fantastic this evening. Not that he was a braggart, but Narcissus would have taken interest in him. Just a touch of gloss, and all out on his hair. My, my, he was a sight to behold.
Alright. He was terribly arrogant. But sometimes, that was okay. When it gave him the confidence to walk in to this party, not caring who stared for what reason, it was a good feeling. He just had to hang around a bit, make some small talk…
Oh. Well there was definitely something to occupy his time. At the sound of the familiar voice, Lune turned around, searching for Michael among the crowd. While Michael’s wave was less than enthusiastic (who’d pissed in his post toasties?), Lune returned one with all the enthusiasm he could muster.
Which, strangely enough, was a bit. He really needed to work on that *actually* enjoying Michael’s company thing.
Avoiding any particularly muddy patches of grass, Lune took off towards his friend(?), only to pause midway in his travels. It was a bit of a shitty move, but he quickly skittered over to Kor’s blanket, and leaned over the man to grab a beer from the cooler. Resting a hand on Kor’s shoulder, Lune stood there long enough to leave him with a message.
“One, darling, it’s been too long. You ought to text me when this is over. We have some…” he trailed his fingers around a bit on the spot, an amused tone with promises of something else in his voice, “…good times to catch up on. And secondly…”
Lune stood up fully at this point, glancing over his shoulder to where Michael was standing.
“…Remind me that I have a bit of gossip to catch you up on, hm?”
With that, he was off again, making a quick pace across the grass and over to his former teacher. Cracking open the beer, he offered Michael a strangely sincere smile, and took a drink.
“Fancy meeting you here,” he laughed a bit, setting his free hand on his own hip.
“I didn’t figure this sort of event would be your scene.”

He was so just there for the Moon Pie Eating contest. It sounded like it would be fun, even if he was pretty sure that he had no chance of winning. And it would kill time until the eclipse happened. Ian's hand patted his camera bag, reassuring himself that it was still there. He wanted to get a couple of good shots of it, to accompany his extra credit paper for astronomy, and he couldn't do that if something happened to it. Not that he was expecting anything too. Well, not much anyways. He noticed Krishna close to where the competition was going to happen, and he moved over towards him. " You going to enter?" he asked, grinning brightly. It hadn't been long since Adira had been back in Destiny City. Up until this point she'd mostly been arranging her winter re-enrollment at DCU, hanging out in her apartment and revisiting old restaurants and places that she hadn't been to in a long time. And tonight she decided to be more social and attend the festivities around the lunar eclipse. It was something she wanted to see anyways, and who knew, maybe she would find some familiar faces that she hadn't seen in a long time.
She was dressed warm for the cold weather, leather boots and a warm coat over the top of jeans and a long sleeve top to stave off the cold. Adira wasn't looking for anyone or anything in particular, but it was interesting to see everyone out and about. The lights and sounds brought a smile to her face. The girl headed over to what seemed to be one of the main events- a moonpie eating contest.

Lilith Calchas wasn't sure the smile was going to fade any time soon. The sounds around her were a relief, in such stark contrast to the wary silence or stiff tension a new voice down an alley she usually felt at night. Tonight in a pale cardigan and even paler frothy layered skirt, the brunette felt unusually light-hearted. For the evening time. Maybe it had something to do with a lack of a certain attire-- "Tsk." When her mental chiding became vocal, Lilith made her steps a little firmer to all but physically smother the train of thought. Tonight was a fun night. A night to enjoy the sounds, smells, and sensations around her.
Not to mention rather furry, fuzzy company. While one hand hoovered her cane just before her feet, the other was free to reach up to where she felt the weight of a tiny body on her shoulder. Locks pinned back into braids and a--well what she hoped at least was a--messy bun, left a lot of room for the feline to maneuver around. Or so she hoped. "See anything fun?" she chirped to her companion, before taking a small whiff of the air around her. "Or food you'd like?" She could hear games, smell food. Really, she could be directed anywhere amongst the crowd and she'd be happy as a clam. It was nice to just be... out.
Aware of another weight in a pocket of her cardigan, she'd debated earlier giving one of the others a call. See who might like to join her out for the lunar eclipse festivities. Something normal. She'd been even more delighted to have ********* accompany her. Lilith hadn't spent much time with her favorite guardian as of late, and never would she dismiss a moment to rectify that. The thought never crossed her mind that this wasn't normal. A young woman having a hushed conversation with a cat wasn't typical behavior. Lilith had a smile on her face, a hop to her step, and really... that was all she could ask for in a night out.
"Are people really dressed up for this?" She'd heard random chatter about it now and then, but wasn't much on personal experience to be sure. "No red aliens, I hope?"
------------------ "I'm really not sure how you could miss me." A pause, accented by a rather loud huff. Black heels tapped impatiently against the ground, streaked with glittery silver-white paint faded and waving like auroras. A few red rhinestones accented the curves near the heels. "No seriously. I'm in a dress. How can you miss--" The babble on the other end of her phone made Danika give a long disgusted groan. "You suck at this. Do I need to be an egobitch and say mine's the only one worth looking at?" She ignored any potential looks that might have gotten her. In her defense, she saw some way better costumes around her. She just wasn't sure what it'd take to get her classmate to the damn contest.
The empire waist had done well with her figure, letting the white material drape down to just above her ankles. Translucent red cloth collected beneath the belt below her chest, layered the closer it was to the belt to darken the color. Rhinestones again in red were arranged to 'drip' from the ones bunched to form a red and black 'splattered' moon in the center of her chest, more of the stones arranged throughout the front of her dress to continue the 'drip' pattern. A dark bolero was painted with more of the sparkling auroras, arranged to look like they were coming from the red moon at her chest. Danika had to use a lot of pins and 'boob tape' to keep the various pieces of her attire in proper place. Face paint was used to bring the auroras around her eyes, fading into corrosive red and black drips along her jaw bone and down her neck. Her hair and nails were done in similar fashion to complete the look--braids and pins of red drooping tiny silver threads between them, and black polish faded into glistening white with red rhinestones near the base of each nail.
The moment one of her professors reminded her about the costume contest, Danika had been more than a little enthusiastic about it all. Not that she was especially sure her design hit the mark, but it was fun to her. Though really, wearing the ensemble was only about half as much fun as creating it had been. As she huffed and grumbled into her cell near the lunar-themed costume contest though, she had to keep reminding herself too much scowling was going to disturb her makeup too much. "Pretty sure I'm the only one you could mistake for Carry, if that helps. I'm-- ah hell." She glanced towards where the contest was to be held, noting bodies beginning to collect. Somewhat. Enough to make her laugh into the phone breezily. "I'll be here. Find me when you can, 'kay? Cell's on maybe-I'll-blast-my-ear-drums-out so I should probably hear you if you call or text." Saying her quick--hopefully temp--farewells to the gal on the other end, she tapped the touch screen and ended the conversation.
With a very, very forced grin. She'll show. She'll show. And even if she doesn't, well... that's what a brazen ego was for, right? Brazening right on into god-knows-what. Clicking her heels a little too cheerfully as she tried to keep herself from storming back towards the contest area, it really wasn't until she started hearing a girl shouting a chick was out of someone's league that she took notice of individuals around her. Mainly the said shouter, and, judging by the angle at which she was storming, her likely intended targets.
The boy with the lame pickup line being one of them. Danika didn't stop herself from snickering at the line. "Dude if you're gonna go around picking up chicks, least try to be a little original." Directing her red eyes towards the girl with the antennae and wings, she grinned outright. "Moth? Not a lunar moth... Very cute though." Her lips pursed as she tried to figure out what exactly the girl was portraying. Wasn't like she was big on bugs, in even the most remote sense.
