"What are you?!" Her shrieks were meaningless to youma, Bazzite smiling as he pried open the minivan's driver door to grab at a middle-aged woman. She had pulled over to check her phone for something or other. It didn't matter to the youma - he was hungry and he could smell children in the back seat. Shrieking, the woman tried to unhook her seat belt, movements fumbling and tears pouring from her eyes. But he didn't care. Lions never cared about what the gazelle thought before crushing their windpipe. And that's exactly what he intended to do - the youma reached into the minivan after tossing the driver's door aside like a piece of paper. She was shrieking, the children were screaming and crying. Children didn't bear nearly as much energy as a full grown adult but their souls were tastier because of their innocence. For whatever reason, innocence was one of the most delicious things about children's starseeds. Power was the only thing that dwarfed in. While the woman struggled, she tried to claw at the youma, tried to earn his complete attention so her two boys in the backseat could get away. Sighing, Bazzite decided to drain her and devour her later, after he caught and digested the children. Leaning in, he dislocated his jaw and in poured the energy, a soft, white light lifting off the women like smoke and filling his belly.

Clearly, this was not a routine patrol on Ellie's part. The tomboy had merely just been heading home, walking with her hands in her pockets.
However, screaming was not a part of the usual routine. Gold eyes had to search for the trouble and soon enough found something that needed to be vanquished.
She quickly shot off a text to ********* about the situation, assuring the chubby Mauvian that it would be a quick extermination. Slipping away for a bit, she powered up, making her presence evident within seconds thanks to her energy.
She stepped out, the heels of her boots clicking against the pavement as she drew closer. There were children, there was a mother, and an ugly youma-bug-thing.
Despite the innocent ears that could have been alert, the senshi didn't seem to care as she chose her words.
"...hey... f*cker... why you messin' with th'small fries when ya can get some big game?" She clenched up a fist on her right hand, which began to start glowing as she stood there.

Bazzite's ears perked visibly when an eternal senshi's aura flared to life in his peripherals. Finishing off his draining of the woman, the children shrieked and cried, hiding somewhere in an alley nearby. Now this senshi's signature eclipsed the energy Bazzite could have gained from all three family members, making her a much better target. The trick was to kill senshi and to kill them quickly. Leaning back out of the minivan, he found the blonde girl to be quite tall for her gender, a foul mouth that offset such a sunny outfit. The youma smirked at her. "When you're hungry, you go get food. You do that with supermarkets, senshi. But you give me an interesting offer." A hiss escaped his clenched teeth and he smiled. "And who might you be, by the way? Usually you all introduce yourselves before interrupting someone." He took a few steps closer to her, head low and wings outstretched to make himself look bigger. They were dreadfully close in height, the two of them. The woman was, blessedly, still alive, moaning quietly and turning over in her car seat like an infant in their sleep. She was completely unaware of what had happened to her children or what was happening just outside her door. Appeal Hypnos can come in any time now~

The blonde made certain to not give the stray children a second glance. In a delicate situation like this, giving them even a look could potentially shift the monster's attention towards them.
No, she needed to keep her gold eyes fixed upon the youma's ugly face.
It wasn't often that the youma asked for an introduction. Most were far more gluttonous and wouldn't give things like manners a second thought. However, she wasn't the sort for manners.
"...I'm th'b*tch that's gonna exterminate ya..." Her lips curled for a toothy grin almost like a dog snarling.
"...however, most call me..." Her fist tightened and the glowing intensified into a rather abrupt explosion of color as she made her announcement.
"IRIS Rainbow Slicer!!!" With that, she lashed her hand to whip the strand of colored light at the monster.

Hypnos might have been preoccupied with all the things she had been dealing with but it was hard to ignore the draw of a powered signature. Given that, it was next to impossible to ignore when it involved two opposing signatures in close proximity to each other. What if someone needed help? What if someone really needed help? What if she could help? There was no time to lose! Hypnos ran quickly, darting toward the area that she sensed the strong order signature.
The chibi senshi of sleep ended up by the car. Her eyes fell to the mother in the car and the unharmed children and then her eyes shot to Bazzite as Iris' attack came toward him. It appeared as if he was keeping his end of the bargain and she might have smiled at that if someone wasn't attacking him! Her hands clenched around her chest as he fists balled together and she tried to move toward him.
"Watch out!" She called out as she scrambled, an obvious fear in her voice. What could she possible be afraid of with two eternal senshi against one youma?

Bazzite had never heard of her before, likely never seen her before either. Most senshi, when he finally spoke to them, were unnerved by his ability to converse. Not this one. Without hesitation, she let loose a stream of color and light that shocked the youma. Before he could scramble away (for his wings were not strong enough to carry him), the ribbon of rainbow sliced through Bazzite's left leg, rendering him prone on the ground, the wound seeping black tar. When injured, instincts for survival kicked in. "Filthy...!" came a hiss and he was about to finish the sentence with another insult when his ears perked to a familiar voice. From his position on the ground next to the front tire of the minivan, Bazzite called out to her. "Hypnos? Is that you?" he cried in the most human voice his twisted vocal chords could muster. "Hypnos, tell her I wasn't harming anyone. I was just hungry, honest!" Surely a full grown, adult senshi would not harm one so young? Perhaps he could get lucky and the chibi senshi with her innocence could protect him enough to ensure an escape?

There had been children, Iris knew that. However, she wasn't expecting any of them to shout out towards her. Perhaps she had been focusing too hard on the oddly conversational youma, for a small aura had slipped past her attention.
It was only when the youma seemed to gurgle out the girl's name that Iris seemed to notice the chibi senshi's presence. The yellow-suited senshi could only vaguely recall mention from the cat of a Sailor Hypnos, but any details beyond that were beyond the blonde.
Where as the youma seemed to be trying to reach for his more humane side vocally, Iris seemed to grow harsh. "Hypnos, was it?" she practically barked out, no hint of sympathy in her tone.
With her free hand, she reached down and grabbed onto the youma's hood, lifting up so she could get a good look of the beast that had been attacking. The rainbow which had been guilty of slicing his leg was still brightly glowing from her other hand, laying against the ground like a loose piece of rope. With a youma around, there was no room for relaxing.
She continued to look over the youma's scaled face, but asked a very direct question to the child. "What do ya want?"

Icy blue eyes widened like saucers when she watched as Iris' attack sliced through Bazzite's leg, knocking him to the ground. No... no, not again! Memories Gwenliana passed through Hypnos' thoughts, followed immediately by Quail's Eye, Leopard's Eye and every one else that had been attacked, killed or otherwise taken away from her. She was going to lose another friend! She couldn't bear it, running toward Bazzite as he explained to her that he wasn't harming anyone.
She believed him.
She seen the evidence unconscious in the van but otherwise alive. It would have taken a second for him to feast on the starseeds of a couple children and their mother and yet he didn't. Most people would make the logical assumption that they were only alive because Iris stepped in and interrupted his feeding but Hypnos didn't and wouldn't. He promised her that he wouldn't kill anyone, that he would just take energy to feed himself and she believed him.
What did she want? Tears in the corner of her eyes Hypnos grabbed onto Iris' arm as she tried to get her dirty hands off of Bazzite.
"Get your hands off him! He's just hungry! He didn't hurt anyone!" She wasn't yelling at Iris but there was definitely strain in the soft voice that was projecting to the other senshi.

As soon as the tiny, innocent little soul latched onto the rainbow-wielding terrorist, Bazzite smiled to himself and scrambled to his feet. His leg was effectively crippled so the youma slumped to one side, clearly unable to put any weight on the affected limb. The wound gushed black tar and Bazzite felt himself lucky that his leg wasn't seared right off by that damned rainbow ribbon of hers. Leaning back against the van, the youma bared his teeth at Iris. "You see? I could have easily killed them and I didn't. Hypnos and I have an agreement..." he wheezed. Youma did not heal, not like other magical beings or at least, not that Bazzite was aware of. He'd been nimble enough in the past to avoid serious injury, but not this time. This time he was just about leaking all over the street. "Surely you understand, Senshi. Youma have to eat too, you know." Iris was his equal in terms of power and usually the ability to talk bought Bazzite some time. Some things had to change, evidently.

Despite all the eyes upon her and the pleading from the small senshi, Iris didn't allow herself to get unnerved. The youma attempted to persuade her, but it did nothing to change her opinion. She couldn't put a finger on it, but the youma sounded insincere in his explanation.
The color of the rainbow she gripped upon seemed to dim a bit, shifting from bright colors to pastel. Once the colors were gentler, her brow twitched and rather suddenly the ribbon sprang up, practically lunging at the youma's neck, aimed to wrap about it. There was an odd sort of mastery that the tall blonde seemed to have over her attacks. All it would take was another flare up in color and the youma could find itself in quite a bit of trouble.
"...see... I ain't so convinced... animals are known to play with their food... what makes you so different?"
Perhaps if she was a masochist, she'd turn to look at the child in the face to see the heartbreaking sadness. However, Iris wasn't into that sort of stuff and firmly kept her eyes locked with the youma's as the question was posed.

Hypnos' eyes couldn't help but fall to the tar substance that was leaking out of Bazzite's wound. Without context, Hypnos might have been confused about it but knowing he had just been sliced there it made the most sense to assume that was how he bled. It was sad and horrifying all at once and Hypnos just felt horrible. If it hurt anything like Wolframite's blade had felt then it must have burned, it must have hurt quite a bit. Evident enough was the fact Bazzite had fallen to the ground in the first place.
She was conflicted. Iris had taken her hands off of him but the situation definitely wasn't getting any better. A rainbow sprung up from the youma and Hypnos' eyes widened as she watched it. She didn't understand Iris' abilities but it didn't look good. How could it look good? Her eyes switched from Bazzite to Iris and she panicked with heartbreak. This wasn't happening, this wasn't happening!
"Stop it!" She said, pulling on Iris with all her might. She might have been shorter than Iris (because Iris was a beast) but she wasn't too short. She was small and lithe though, and even putting all her weight into her pull probably wasn't doing all that Hypnos could hope for. After all, chibi senshi were known for being fast not strong.
"You're hurting him! What he could do and what he did are different! He hasn't hurt anyone, why are you hurting him?" Her voice cracked under the strain of her emotions as they mixed with her tears.

The shriek that pierced the night air was nothing short of unholy. Not only was the light near-blinding, the piercing heat ate away at Bazzite's flesh despite his hand coming up to try and stop the ribbon. Before he managed to slip away, the colorful noose was tied cleanly around his neck and his outer skin could be heard sizzling. He couldn't form a coherent sentence until he pulled the ribbon away from his neck. However, Bazzite found out too late that the force of the pull simply severed his fingers. It was a pitiful sight and really, the locust had some idea that he was vulnerable to magic but his speed usually got him away from senshi before they could launch an attack. Now that he was trapped, the pain was excruciating and he wanted desperately to devour Iris in revenge. More and more tar poured from him until Bazzite could do nothing more than to lay in a heap on the ground. "She... ahh... god..... so much.... pain... why would you do...this..." came a weak hiss. "...Hypnos... help me...."

The chibi senshi soon enough had started to try and pry Iris off of the youma, though the tugging and yanking was being met by force on Iris' part, if only to keep her arm steady rather than to accidentally behead something prematurely.
"...Hypnos, was it?..." The youma had hissed out the name upon occasion, so now the eternal senshi was going to assume it was the child's senshi-name.
"...I wouldn't suggest doin' that, or yer probably gonna kill that youma quite quickly..."
The blonde was concentrating upon the youma, and his pleas did not even remotely resemble an answer to her question.
"...and since nobody seems to want to answer my question, I'll ask it again... I guess I'll open it up fer debate in general."
There was a pause, as if to signal to the child that she might want to listen to the repetition of the question. "...what makes'im different from the others?"

Bazzite's calls for help could not be avoided any longer. Hypnos' body flew to him with haste and her hands hesitated at the rings of light around his neck. Could she get them off? Would they hurt him? There didn't seem to be a question here because in the end it would probably kill him. She had to try but her attempt didn't leave her very satisfied. She couldn't even touch them, her delicate hands slipping right through the beams of light.
Rainbows.
They were just light and it might have sounded familiar but Hypnos never paid as much attention to science as she did other subjects.
It was causing Bazzite excruciating pain but it felt very warm to her touch, welcoming even. It left Hypnos with more questions than answers and her hands fell to her side as her tears trickled down her cheeks. Her face read a guilty expression mixed with a hopelessness that she couldn't erase as she looked at Bazzite, her lips mouthing the words 'I'm so sorry' before shutting into a frown. If she couldn't even touch them, how could she save him? Her eyes fell to Iris.
There was only one way.
Hypnos tried to arrange her thoughts and then she walked back to Iris, standing between her and Bazzite. She wanted to say something, to help Bazzite's case but part of her felt it was utterly hopeless. Senshi didn't care about youma and Hypnos had learned this quite well over the years. NO one thought twice about murdering them. Iris was seemed no different, probably was no different. Just look what she'd already done to Bazzite! Why would she listen to Hypnos pleas? Anything she could say, would Iris just argue against it? Did it really matter? This wasn't a question she could get right, was it? She had to try.
"He promised me he wouldn't hurt anyone in exchange for my help. He hasn't hurt anyone here, has he? I would like to think it would have been quite easy for him to rip those starseeds out of that family in seconds. He could have spared those measly seconds before turning his attention to you to get them if he wanted. I have to believe he has honoured his promise. Please, please don't kill him. He's alive. He's my friend."
