Character: Reims, Knight of Ganymede
Location: H12
HP: 100
IC Items: Article of Strength and Article of Resilience
Target: H12 (Humanoid Construct 2)
Action: Attacking the construct with his magic.
Damage Done: 10 + 1 + 9
Enemy HP: 50 - 20 = 30

The fact that he’d missed what was right in front of him burned. Obliviousness wasn’t a luxury he could afford, especially not here. Not now. The irritation and embarrassment settled into his shoulders like a weight, but he welcomed it. It was better to turn the heat of it into something useful than to just let it fester.

His sword swung down in a sharp arc, despite its dull edge, as he closed the distance to one of the nearest constructs. Stained glass and metal met stained glass, and it wasn’t lost on him that the reflection of what was familiar to him was Reims reflected back at him like some kind of cruel parody. It was all the more reason for him to cut these things down.

But he wasn’t the only one focused on the construct. That weird alien Senshi (Grieve) was already in close, wrenching and scrambling at the seams of the construct’s torso. Reims adjusted without breaking his stride, turning his swing to add force to her work instead of getting in her way.

Magic pulsed through his weapon as he swung, and when it made contact, the grotto lit up. Brilliant shards burst from the blade in a spray of light, similar to a kaleidoscope, refracting across the surfaces before taking aim at the construct. They weren’t harmless glimmers of light and the shards struck the construct with little sympathy, a vicious counterpoint to Greive’s prying hands.

“Dering!” he called through the ringing of metal and glass, his voice sharp with urgency. He spared just enough of a glance to make sure the other knight wasn’t in immediate danger. “You okay?”

His focus snapped back almost immediately. Between Grieve’s grip and his own strike, the thing was going to come apart one way or another. He raised his blade for another swing, ready to bring more color and light crashing down on it.

Quote:
Knight magic: When Reims channels his magic, the lust for battle courses through him and his strength is increased, allowing him to hit twice as hard as he normally would. Every time his weapon makes contact, there is an extravagant burst of colorful light from his weapon, as if catching and shattering light even without a light source. The colorful light manifests into glass shards, always directed at his target. There are never more than three at a time, and no larger than his palm, that causes the sensation of moderate to severe lacerations. Players can choose to take lasting damage. His magic pool lasts for 45 seconds.

Character Name: Dering, Knight of Lysithea
Location: H12
HP: 100
Target: N/A
Action: Following close to Reims, not attacking ; looking for Halle and Lisse
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A
Enemy HP: N/A

When Reims ran into battle, naturally Dering followed. He held his lute close, cradled in both arms. He was limited in what he could do, so much so that he often worried he was little more than dead weight when it came to tackling most problems.

He was the worst fighter out of all of his friends, and he had no summon, no secret magic hidden up his sleeve. He had a lute, and sure–he could smash it–but the idea of hurting someone made him sick. Even an enemy.

Constructs–robots, right? Those didn’t seem like people, and yet they were important enough to Tempesti that she didn’t want them destroyed.

Dering had a shield, but there was no danger. Right now. He was on edge, on high alert, and stayed close to Reims so he could make sure that if–when–something backfired, he could at least try to protect his friends.

“Yes,” he answered Reims, close, but behind him and out of the way of his magic.

He wasn’t sure where Halle and Lisse were planning on going, but out of habit he looked for them to make sure they were okay, too.

Spreadsheet With PC and NPC Locations

Under the barrage of blows dealt by Amarynthos, Cynthus, Joy, and Tempesti, one of the nearest humanoid constructs (HC6) collapses to the ground with a series of colorful flashes and clattering metal. The spherical glow within its chest flickers briefly before slowly dimming.

Under Lucien’s scrutiny it would become clear that Joyeuse Garde’s whip had left several substantial fractures in the colorful carapace, many of which were clearly exacerbated by Cynthus’ crook and Amarynthos’ ice, and despite the best efforts of the construct’s ancient engineering, several of the chest panels loosen with the Mauvian’s attention, leaving just enough room for him to extract his prize from within. A brief spasmodic shudder passes through the shell of the sentry’s body as he claims the core. The golden sphere is surprisingly heavy and still carries the warmth of the energy that was passing through it mere moments earlier.

Though it no longer displays the radiance visible from within its crystalline shell, it still glows faintly and pulls slightly toward the nearest active construct. There’s no telling what could happen if left to its own devices and allowed to make contact with one of its former comrades. Given the number of constructs present, finding another one is unlikely to pose much of a challenge, should curiosity about its intentions prove irresistible.

Before the bee-like construct (BC4) can do anything to attend to its fallen humanoid companion it finds itself trapped in a sudden downpour conjured by Sessrumnir and struggling valiantly against the wind to complete its task. A fortunate (or unfortunate depending upon which team you support) bolt of lightning roars through its mechanical body before Alastor’s magic saps what energy it has left.

If a construct could look dumbfounded it would be easy to apply that to any interpretation of the motions of Grieve’s target HC2 as it attempts to dislodge its unwanted guest. The vibrant senshi’s investigative hands press just firmly enough in the correct spot to activate an expertly hidden latch, causing one of the construct’s chest panels to drift open. It seemed that despite whatever paranoia had driven the ancient builders to install these automata, they hadn’t anticipated someone attempting to physically grapple one of their creations.

Though the mechanical sentry lacks the same internal anatomy of a true humanoid target, Niflhel’s ability is still strong enough to stiffen its movements, its situation only growing worse as Reims’ ability makes blinding, glittering contact. Though significantly slowed, it still retaliates, swinging its bladed arm toward Reims and Niflhel.

Seeing the danger in which the construct found itself, one of the bee-like automata BC2 flits toward it. With a soft whirring, mechanical mandibles open, sending forth a beam of unfamiliar energy. Though it doesn’t appear to have any adverse effects on the assailants, some of the damage to the larger construct appears to reverse as the ray passes across its surface.

Honey, especially magical honey, was unlikely to have been among the weapons for which the ancient artificers prepared their constructs and the automaton (HC4) finds its legs and one of its arms significantly gummed up by the sticky substance lobbed by Ephesus. A harsh grinding erupts as it makes an unsuccessful attempt to free its club-ended arm, some ancient machinery within failing before the limb falls uselessly to its side.

When Solaris’ fire makes contact with the honey covered sentry, it seems to motivate it, or at least trigger some more urgent behavior, as it seemingly redoubles its efforts to move toward its attackers.

Though Sailor Cardinal’s target didn’t take any damage, its motions become more stilted as it approaches the group, as though something has affected whatever gives it the ability to see.

The party is making progress, but the remaining constructs are closing in from their positions closer to the tower’s base.

Character: Sailor Kua'kua of Hellebore
Location: Running to F12
HP: 50
Target: H11/H12 (mainly aiming for the humanoid construct, but it's a radius attack)
Action: Attacking
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: 10+2=12
Enemy HP: 30-12=18 (unless I missed something)

Kua'kua was here to follow instructions, and the instruction she was given - don't let it kill me - was simple and straightforward. The other Senshi, yellow-and-blue-and-pink, was so -

Brave. Kua'kua could only stare after her for a moment, dazzled and amazed, before the clangs of the battle snapped her out of it. She darted after Grieve, spanning outward to the left in a loose half-circle. Her eyes lit on the bee-like robot flitting nearby, but if she wasn't sure what effect her attacks may have on the humanoid robot, she certainly wasn't sure what effect it may have on a robotic helper-animal.

Distantly, she wished they could just sit down and explain what was going on to the robots, humanoid and beenoid alike. They weren't here to hurt them.

But hurt them they would, to get the job done.

"Petal Perfume!" Kua'Kua called, extending her hand toward the H12 construct and Grieve. Belatedly - she was unused to other, living, breathing people being around to be impacted by her attack, she called to Grieve, "Hold your breath and get the petals in its chest!" Maybe, if nothing else, the petals would gum up its internal workings long enough to help disable it.

Quote:

Sailor Kua'kua calls her attack and blows on her palm, causing illusory petals of the hellebore plant to shoot out within 10 feet. Enemies who inhale their fragrance will experience delirium and nausea. Targets may feel disoriented, have difficulties concentrating, or feel forgetful. This attack lasts for 30 seconds, and may be used three times. Players can choose to take lasting damage or have effects linger.

b]Character: Blarney, Page of Earth
Location: Charging around to leap onto the construct at O8 from behind
HP: 50
Target: Humanoid Construct 7, O8
Action: Piggybacking to throw it off-balance & using his stick to jerk the construct's head up
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: No damage, just distraction
Enemy HP: 50 unless I missed something

Blarney barely had time to acknowledge the alien that joined them - he did have very cool looking eyes - before the battle picked up in full swing. If he thought fighting the demonic chickens was intense, he was...fully out of his depth on what was going on here.

So this is what they all meant. When they said he wasn't ready.

Oh.

The thought blinked across his mind, gone as soon as it arrived, and whatever part of Blarney was Mason noped right out, leaving only the Page behind, and the Page, somehow, sort of, knew what to do - or at least what to watch for.

"Focus the fire on the bees," Blarney called in the general area of Solaris, and then the rest of the crowd at large, though he wasn't sure who could hear him (or who would listen, even if they could hear him). "Blast them with whatever cold abilities you have, freeze them like cars in winter!"

Blarney wanted to dart this way, and that way, and all the ways, but he paused before he took a step, remembering his promise to Monch, and by extension, Bacchus.

"I'm going to try and piggy-back that one," Blarney said, pointing with his stick to the humanoid construct at O8. "I should be able to throw it off-balance enough for you guys to get a couple of licks in, okay? Don't worry about me unless it throws me across the room or something."

And then he was off, darting around friends and enemies alike, and he told himself he was just back on the cheer field at half-time, waving his pompoms, except that instead of pompoms it was a stick and instead of other cheerleaders, it was other intergalactic superheroes.

Man, his life had gotten weird over the summer.

Using the chaos as cover, Blarney went wide around the construct and leapt onto its back, hooking his stick around its neck and yanking back as he wrapped his legs around the thing's waist, like the world's most gangly 5-year-old demanding uppies. He could only hope his crew would cover him, especially because he was so focused on trying to keep the creature off-balance and distracted (if not actually damaged), that he didn't even realize he'd left his own back entirely exposed. However, he also didn't notice yet that he was glowing faintly with golden light - channeling his Planetary Aspect, though he didn't know what it was or that he was doing it at all - the light refracting off the construct's intricate metal workings.

ASPECT OF EARTH: As upholders of virtue, Earth Knights have a saintly presence and seem to be always followed by sunlight, even at night. Character: Eternal Sailor Tempesti
Location: K12 to O7 (Speed doubled by ability)
HP: 100
Target: O7
Action: Heading toward the ramp
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A
Enemy HP: N/A

Tempesti looked toward the nearest cluster of constructs, conscious of the others nearby and of the blade threatening to make contact with them. She’d been on the receiving end of one of those slashing blows and it was not an experience she would recommend, luckily it seemed as though they very nearly had that one handled.

Turning her attention toward the ramp, she decided to see how the new ability the Air Shrine had gifted her would work in a battle.

“Storm-Swift Flight!”

The senshi felt her feet lift slightly from the ground below as her harpies’ wingbeats called forth an updraft. Hoping sincerely that she didn’t crash she leaped forward, letting the wind carry her toward the constructs near the base of the ramp. Landing in a mercifully unembarrassing way, she scanned her surroundings, preparing to engage the nearby constructs.

Alternate Magic: Storm-Swift Flight
Sailor Tempesti raises an arm in the air, summoning a group of ethereal harpies. Their wingbeats raise a powerful wind that surrounds and lifts her target a few inches off the ground. While surrounded by this wind, her target’s speed is doubled and their leaping ability is enhanced. The wind has no effect on anyone or anything else in the environment.

Range -- 15 feet, single target

Duration -- 35 seconds

Uses Per Battle -- 2

Character: Sailor Bacchus
Location: O8
HP: 50
Target: HC7
Action: Dissociating then hurrying after Blarney (definitely not because he doesn't want to see a kid get stabbed by a robot)
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: 4
Enemy HP: 46

Bacchus hadn’t been walking slowly, staring blankly in the direction of the tower because he was afraid. There was no part of him that desperately wanted to blip back out of this din and find quiet in some sweet whirling oblivion. His neck and cheeks weren’t roaring up and down in rampages of heat and chill. No bile threatened to burn a hole in the back of his throat.

He was just taking in the unfamiliar surroundings, his long distant visits to Tempesti had never brought him into this particular section of the palace complex and it was only natural that he would be absorbed in the peculiarities of this grotto for a few moments. The sound of the young knight’s voice brought him back to the obnoxious inconveniences of the present.

A barking laugh burst forth from the senshi as the boy threw himself onto the back of one of the constructs. At least no one could accuse him of lacking initiative. Throwing himself forward with as much force as he could muster, Bacchus followed. If nothing else it wouldn’t be boring.

He wasn’t sure how much effect the magic of revelry would have on a machine, and he hadn't been in an actual physical fight in a few centuries, but hopefully he could manage a solid enough kick to draw the thing’s attention.

Character: Cynthus, Squire of the Moon
Location: To P9
HP: 75
Target: N/A
Action: Making her way in the direction of the ramp.
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A
Enemy HP: N/A

“Well, duh, I’ve been doing this for two years,” Cynthus reminded Poe. She puffed up a little with pride. “And I didn’t even awaken like you did! I was chosen!”

There was a huge difference, in Cynthus’ not so humble opinion. Anyone could awaken if they had the right soul. Or blood. Or… actually, she wasn’t entirely sure under what circumstances it was possible, but the point was and would always be that not everyone got chosen. Some just were what they were. Some weren’t anything. And then there were those like her—practically perfect in every way, just like her dad said. So perfect the Code decided to pluck her up and give her the chance to save the world!

Still, Cynthus rolled her eyes. Dad was embarrassing even when he was right, and Aunt—Paradise—seemed like she’d rather be a cheerleader than get her hands dirty. Which was fine! She should sit this one out! No point putting herself at risk when everyone else had a handle on things.

“We need to get to the ramp,” Cynthus said.

She turned to begin making her way in that direction, taking what she assumed would be the quickest path. Cynthus glanced over her shoulder as she did so to make sure both Poe and Paradise were following.

She called out to Ephesus and Amarynthos while she was at it, having noticed them (and Grumpy McGrumpypants and his alien husband) nearby while whacking at the construct: “Effie! Mary! This way! Those things are leaving the ramp! I bet we can duck around them while everyone else keeps them distracted!”

Action: Attacking with Magic!
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: 10 + 6 = 16
Enemy HP: 20 - 16 = 4

Why was it that the super attractive dark Knight always…bah! Lisse didn’t have the time, energy or inclination to really dwell on it right now, and this was a fight for goodness sakes. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked to his brother. “Come on. Let’s do our part, yeah? We’re up here for a reason so let’s be…the Knights we’re supposed to be.”

Big words, and honestly they were nothing more than a cover up for nerves, but he made his way, hurrying and passing the hot Knight and Dering, who he tapped on the arm and gave a smile to. “Stay safe! If you need me I’m right here!”

There was a bee looking construct just a few feet away, and honestly, it was pretty. The wings reminded him of–well. They were pretty.

Still. It was threatening his friends, himself and his brother so, it had to be destroyed.

Hah. Bee destroyed.

Swinging his lasso in the air, he began to channel his magic, just for a few seconds, but that was enough to watch the unicorns charge at the fat little robot.

Ugh. So cool.

Target: Construct 2 (H2)
Action: Aiming his meteor hammer at Construct 2; trying to steal the blade in the process.
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: Damage
Enemy HP: 30

Niflhel made a noise when the construct decided to fight back. Looking over to Reims who also seemed to be hit "You good?" This was not cool and while he didn't want to damage it much the construct wasn't getting away with hitting him either.

"If you're going to grab that core I'd suggest doing it sooner rather than later." Niflhel directed at Greive.

He heard someone else call an attack Kua'Kua and heard them call hold your breath. Well he didn't need to be told twice as he was closing his distance on the construct from one side.

He aimed his meteor hammer where he could try and get the blade away from the construct. He'd leave it mostly intact -- it just wouldn't have the blade if he could help it. That was fine right??

He then glanced towards the bee construct that was being fairly annoying and - did it heal the construct they were all aiming at? Yeah that wasn't cool they needed to stop this one and then go after the bee as quickly as they could he supposed.

He also caught site of Tempesti looking like she'd made a fair gain on the rest of them, he was hoping she was being careful.

Location: O12 -> O9
HP: 50
Target: Construct 7 ( O8 )
Action: Hoping to slow Construct 7 more
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: Using her attack again (1d6)
Enemy HP:50

Cardinal wasn't sure about this whole thing, it seemed that she slowed the construct a bit. She was going to hope she could slow it more though in order to use the blindness to her advantage.

Cardinal was taking the time to mentally figure out what she wanted to aim for and how she wanted to do it. She was going to go in for physical combat since her attack was fairly useless here.

The question was why in the world was she considering on taking this thing on alone? She really hoped that someone would see her being stupid and come rescue her if she got in over her head. Though it wasn't like any family was here that could come to her rescue and she really only knew Tempesti.

tab Uktena's Shine - Used 2/3

When Cardinal calls this attack an illusion of the Uktena appears behind where Cardinal is standing. The gem on her tiara then gives off a dazzling light that temporarily leaves her opponents seeing spots if they look directly at her.

This attack lasts for 30 seconds and can be used 3 times. This attack effects those opponents that are 10 foot (cone radius) in front of Cardinal. Usually, the spots seen from the light after the attacks ends are also gone, but could last longer and be distracting if a player so wishes.

“Chosen, huh?” Poe murmured with a half-smile, but he didn’t argue with Cynthus. She deserved to be proud of herself, just as he was proud of her. Still, his stomach twisted at her eagerness to head straight towards the ramp where more of the constructs waited.

He kept pace behind her, close enough to intervene if needed, but careful not to hover too much. He glanced from one group to the next, watching the Knights and Senshi as they fought, some more familiar than others, and it gave him at least some relief. They weren’t there alone at least.

“I don’t care what you were chosen for, you’re not ducking around anything without me right behind you,” Poe warned, his voice low but determined. He tried to ready himself for whatever was coming, flexing his hand in the process. He didn’t have magic, but he could damn well throw a punch if one of those glass monsters or weird bugs got too close.

Paradise trailed after them, pleased to hear Cynthus calling for Ephesus and Amarynthos to join them, just as she was glad to see Sessrumnir and Alastor so close as well. Her cheer hadn’t dimmed, but she caught sight of Tempesti darting ahead, and for a moment, her smile faltered.

“Oh dear… she’s very brave, isn’t she?” Paradise said, more to Poe and Cynthus than anyone else. “But we should be careful, too,” she nodded, her voice soft while her eyes remained bright with encouragement.

“Cynthus is right, we’ll make for the ramp!” she raised her voice toward the others as they moved. “Don’t you worry, we’ll be right behind!”

Her hand tightened on Poe’s arm briefly, not because she was afraid, but because she wanted him to know that she trusted him to keep them steady.

Location: Moving to P7
HP: 100/100
Target: N/A
Action: Following after Cardinal in an attempt to support where he can
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A
Enemy HP: N/A

Athene's green-flecked grey eyes glanced over at the gathered constructs as he tried to work out where he might best support Tempesti–

Then his gaze snagged on one of the smaller bee-like constructs in time to see it mend one of the larger, more humanoid constructs.

That's right Tempesti had mentioned something about some constructs being able to heal the other constructs, so mayhaps he could focus on trying to do something about the bee constructs–

Even if it was just slowing them down, or attempting to catch one of the things up in his magic.

Because if it worked then it would mean one less construct out there to heal the larger constructs–

At least temporarily.

Out of the corner of his eye, Athene vaguely caught what appeared to he a flicker of movement, one that appeared to be darting towards something that was somewhere on the right, (Cardinal)

And whilst Athene had been planning to head left, he'd ended up pivoting right instead, as he headed after the figure in an attempt to try and lend them some support.

Besides, odds were good that there’d be more of those bee-like constructs over that way anyway.

Location: Moving to F6
HP: 75/75
Target: Oberon
Action: Using Basic magic on Oberon, then moving towards constructs at E6 and E7
Buff Done: 6
Enemy HP: N/A

Oort studied the constructs with a brief frown, before turning to Oberon.

"Think Tempesti might let us poke around some of these things once everything's over?" He asked in a tone that hovered somewhere between quiet sarcasm and genuine curiosity.

The question was mostly a rhetorical one.

Mostly.

Okay, almost entirely rhetorical.

Still, if an option to examine the stained glass constructs more closely prsented itself, then Oort was totally taking it.

He started moving, angling towards a pair of constructs that were off to the left, only to pause mid-step as a half-forgotten thought chose that moment to resurface.

Right - that.

"Key Up!" He said as he called on his magic, before pointing the small but ornate-looking key at Oberon, before continuing towards the constructs.

With any luck his friend would get the strength boost, but there was an equal chance that it would be a speed boost–

Not that Oort had ever personally gotten a strength boost out of his magic, as he only ever seemed to get the speed boost when he used it on himself.

Guine
Sailor Scout Attack: Key Up!
Oort calls on his magic while chanting the name of this attack and the magic forms into a small ethereal-looking ornate key.
By standing in front of an ally and turning the key as if in an invisible lock Oort can use this this to give an ally either a strength boost or a speed boost (one or the other and he doesn't get to choose which) of about 15%. Alternatively Oort can use it on himself, but he will only get the speed boost.
Duration: Oort has 15 seconds to use the 'key' otherwise the key will disappear. The boost will last for 10 seconds once Oort has used the 'key'

Character: Halle Knight of Lysithea
Location: H11
HP: 100
Target: Lisse
Action: Shielding (poised to upon any attack) + observing the bee construct
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: Fully Shielded

Bemused, Halle would've assured the Ganymede Knight that there wasn't a surprise triplet waiting in the wings, but the boy very determinedly turned toward the action in a swirl of black cape. The way he went at the humanoid construct was very...energetic. And it looked like he comfortably had the blonde, Dering, at his back.

Finally letting out a quiet laugh, he asked Lisse, "Which one is he?"

It was good seeing Lisse focus on the work at hand, though. Even taking point. Keeping an eye on things, magic at the ready for a quickly summoned shield, he advised his brother, "Tempesti mentioned not wanting the bees destroyed, but that they heal the bigger constructs. Maybe with it weakened, we can contain it?"
