▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Snake Dancing
Solo - Dancer/Stage 3 - WC 908 (3pts)

It had been a while since she had danced outside as she usually managed to get gigs that allowed for her to be inside and on a stage. Now she was performing for a street vendor to help their sales. Which meant that Kalliope was wearing one of their outfits to help promote them. It was every bit as revealing as her own dress but this one had more dangly things and felt heavier. In truth Kalli wouldn't wear such a thing to dance in all the time since it would make her overheat but she was being paid to dance not critique the clothing. And since the vendor wanted that extra pizzazz to it she had her familiar Lissa with her.

Kalli was still a bit.. skeptical of snakes but she had a relationship with her Keldari that allowed her to be okay with the small performance. As musicians played their song the Oban dancer moved her hips in sync and lifted her hands to form simple symbols. As she did this her pet wound her way up Kalliope's arms so that she could peek out between the dancer's fingers. Essentially it was a snake coming out of a lotus bloom. The woman turned and moved her ankles and feet to give more to mesmerize the eye but once she was once again facing forward the snake had found it's way onto her shoulders.

Draped over her like a boa the Keldari shook the end of her tail and flickered her tongue. The light caught the crystal tip of her tail and glittered with the rest of Kalli's outfit. There were a collective "oooo" and "ahhhhs" from the crowd and some of the women who were looking at the stall seemed to agree that they liked the combination. The colors, the shinys, and the revealing nature of the outfit made them want one for their own. That was all Kalli was hoping to accomplish so she was pleased with that.

She raised up onto her toes and lifted one leg so that she could position herself into another pose, this one allowing for Lissa to slither down and wind around her calf. With her leg in the air she leaned backward, balancing delicately on her one foot, and her Keldari moved up to her foot so that she could coil up on the sole. Kalliope did this mostly to show that even though the outfit had a lot of accessories one could still move in it. From there she stretched her arms out and moved them to the beat of the music as her fingers took on many shapes. However, this was the easy part. What came next was the hard part of the trick.

Her body started to slant so that her legs moved closer to the ground, though they stayed straight, and she leaned her upper body back even farther to keep her balance. By now her back was a perfect curve and her hands could almost touch the ground as she looked at the world in an upside down view. Clapping came from most of the people while others gasped and swore she was going to fall. Kalli paid them little mind as she continued to move until she finally made it to the ground in a perfect split and Lissa was arched up on her knee. The display was an amazing one with the two moving together in harmony.

But she was not done yet. Her upper body swayed to the tune and eventually she was contorting her body once again. This time bringing her back leg up so that she could grab her foot over her head and roll backward. The leg that her Keldari was on was up in the air once more and this time the beast moved down to her waist where it seemed to tangle itself in the dangly things. Kalli used her hands to push up off the ground, putting her into a hand stand before lowering her leg back to the ground. Her stomach undulated and her arms started to wave around, the signal for Lissa to move up the woman's chest in a sensual manner. As the Oban dancer continued to bring herself up into a standing position the snake had moved back to her shoulders. With the last of the musical notes being sang out Kalli stopped her dance in a flourish so that she was left standing with her Keldari.

An applause sounded from everyone nearby and then the stall was flooded with young women who wanted the outfits so that they could look as good as Kalliope had. If only the clothes could make one a good dancer. With her dance done she made her way to change out of the outfit she'd been lent. It might look pretty but it was a tad uncomfortable for her.

Once she was back in her own dress she returned the shiny outfit and received her payment Kalliope was pleased to see that there was a bonus added in since business had picked up and thanked the vendor. With her money in hand Kalliope headed home to the mercenary camp. She wanted to wash up and spend the rest of the day with her boys. It would make her feel warm and fuzzy inside, plus she really enjoyed watching her sons play. Jax and Djego were the best part of her days.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Going Home
Solo - Dancer/Stage 3 - WC 692 (2pts)

She brought both hands up to so that she could massage her temples. Kalliope had just had a conversation with her sons about going back to Oba. She was well past due for a visit home so that she could see her family. She’d not been back in many years. Her twin sons were in their late teens. Surely her siblings missed her. Kalli was more than sure that her parents would like to see her again. If nothing else just to know she was alive. The last time she’d sent a letter had been years ago as well. Life had just been too busy for her to sit down and get words on paper.

Jax hadn’t seemed to mind that his mother wanted to go back to Oba, he’d even offered to escort her there. His brother hadn’t seemed as pleased. Though it was hard to understand what went on in his head anymore. Kalli just assumed it was his age.

A deep breath and a sigh and she took her hands down and looked at her packed bags. She didn’t have much and was actually traveling light for a dancer. She was taking several change of clothes, so that she could switch into performance attire when she needed to. Kalli had a few planned performances along the way but she was sure that there were a few places she could stop at along the way for an impromptu dance or two. It would keep coin in her pockets.

Now that she knew she had all her stuff packed up and ready to go the only thing she had left was to leave a note for Ouen. As the father of her boys he deserved to know where she went and that Jax at least was going with her. She walked over to the small desk and sat down so that she could pull paper and quill over to her. After dipping the tip into the ink she set it to the paper and began to write down what she would tell him.

Ouen,
Since the boys are much older now I thought it was time for me to go back to Oba and visit my family. Jax has offered to go with me. He wants to keep me safe.
My plan is to be gone for only a short time but long enough so that I may visit with everyone. I will find work as a dancer to keep coin in my pocket so you don’t have to worry about that.
Keep everyone safe.
- Yours,
Kalliope

She finished off the last of her letter then set her quill down. Ouen was out, as he usually was, so she didn’t expect him to get back before she left. Kalli had mentioned her desire to go back to Oba several times before so she didn’t think it was too sudden.

As she waited for the ink to dry she felt something slither over her foot and gasped. It took only a few seconds before she realized it was her familiar. “Oh goodness, Lissa…” She leaned back and looked under the desk at the keldari. She was still terrified of snakes but her own animal companion had grown on her. From time to time she did still get creeped out but she had noticed that dancing with the beast brought on a certain appeal. Made her seem almost dangerous.

“You will be going with me too. Don’t worry.” She wasn’t going to leave the keldari behind. Poor Ouen wouldn’t know what to do with the beast. And Lissa didn’t listen to her sons in the least. She reached down and collected the snake from the floor so that she could coil up in Kalli’s lap for warmth.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ An Old friend
Solo - Dancer/Stage 3 - WC 920 ( 3pts )

“I have to admit I wasn’t expecting company today.” Kalliope said as she brought in two cups of tea from the kitchen of her home.

It had been a bit of a surprise to hear someone knock on the door earlier. Her first thought was that one of her kids had done something they weren’t supposed to and now she had an angry parent at the door to yell at her for letting her children run wild. Then she’d opened the door, fully ready to apologize, and came face to face with Zyan. A friend from her time in Jauhar. There must have been worry on her face because he instantly assured her that her son and Ouen were fine.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” Zyan’s soft voice rang out. “I didn’t have an address to send a letter ahead of time and asking around for where you lived got me a few mean looks and some threats.” He chuckled.

Her friend was part of the bandit group she’d been living with so she wasn’t too worried about him getting injured. He could hold his own if needed. If he couldn’t then Ouen wouldn’t have kept him around.

“Oh. I guess I only really gave the address to Djego huh.” She chuckled as she handed him the cup in her right hand.

He took it with a ‘thank you’ then set it down on the small table beside the chair he was sitting in. “I hadn’t thought to ask him about it honestly. It might have made things a bit easier.”

Kalli took the other chair and sat down then crossed one leg over the other. Bringing her cup of tea up she took a sip and eyed her friend for a moment before she lowered the cup and held it in her lap. “What brings you here? I doubt this is a social call.” If it was then he traveled awfully far for it.

“Ah, well..” Zyan shifted in his chair awkwardly. He understood why he was sent to talk to Kalliope but it didn’t mean he liked the task at hand. “You see.. We were wondering if you’d be interested in coming back.” The entire time he spoke he was looking anywhere but at her. “You had a way of making things homey for us and you took care of the younger ones. Not to mention your dancing brought in a lot of coin.” By the end he was rambling.

She simply stared at him. A few blinks here and there as she processed just exactly what it was he was saying. She was essentially being invited back to the bandit group even though she wasn’t a bandit. Not to mention she couldn’t fight to save her life. In her eyes she always thought she was more of a liability to them than anything. An easy target. Something they had to worry about instead of doing their job.

“Zyan..”

“Kalli just.. Just consider it.” He pleaded.

“Zyan.” She chuckled a bit as she tried again. “I have three young children now.” She looked at him to see if he knew that. When it was just her twins it was different. Mostly because they had been born there and their father was in charge. Her young ones now weren’t part of that. They didn’t rough it like Djego and Jax did.

“What?” He stared at her for a second before turning to look around as if the three kids in question might pop out of the woodwork. When they didn’t he looked back at her. “You.. you had more children?” The grin that formed on his face was large.

“Yes. I have three more. Well, four if you count my stepdaughter.” She giggled. “You know about Djego and Jax. My husband has his daughter Brexxa. Then there is Visha. He looks the most like his dad. After him is Korin. She’s an angel. And the baby of the family is Sekani. Although I’m not sure where he gets his good looks. He’s going to be a little heartbreaker for sure.”

“Husband too?” Zyan seemed to widen his eyes but his grin was still in place. “I would love to meet everyone. Especially your little ones. Djego didn’t tell us anything! We all know you wrote to him but he never shared any news.”

Knowing that her son kept the information to himself made her worry. Was he doing it because he didn’t want someone to go looking for her and his siblings or was it because he was upset?

“Well its my fault for not writing to everyone else. I really should have.” As to the other bit. She looked to the window to see what time of day it was. “If you want to stick around then Gael should be home in a few hours.” Kalli knew that her husband would love to meet Zyan. She’d spoken to him about her life before and the friends she’d made in the process.

“If its not inconvenient for you then I wouldn’t mind. I would enjoy the chance to catch up with you. I clearly missed a lot!”

“You really did.” Though it was of no fault of his own.

So Zyan settled in for a long talk, finally picking up his tea so that he could sip on it happily, and Kalliope started to tell him about how she met Gael and her life in Oba. As well as embarrassing stories about her younger children. What mother wouldn’t tell those!?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Vanity Showing
Solo - Dancer/Stage 3 - WC 1369 ( 4pts )

After taking time to talk to Gael about returning to work, which had been a very long conversation. She had been hesitant to bring it up since Sekani was still young. Not so little that he needed someone to watch him all the time but enough to where she worried about him still. Kalliope tended to baby all of her children. (She didn’t want to even think about letting Visha get his ears pierced recently. She was still upset that he was growing up.) But when she’d approached the subject with Gael about getting back into dancing he seemed more happy than upset at the idea. Of course he worried about the kids and whether or not they would need to be looked after but he didn’t once tell her no. He sat and brainstormed with her. Heck he’d even told her which dresses looked best on her.

It was one of the things she loved so much about him. He was nothing but supportive of her and what she wanted to do. He’d even given her money to use to buy any new dresses or accessories she might think she needed to get the best look. Which is how she was now standing in their room with her hands on her hips looking down at the newest addition to her wardrobe. A pretty teal number with some fancy embroidery and sparkles to draw the eye. Off to the side of it lay some accessories she’d gotten to go along with it and a lovely pair of flats to compliment the whole thing. The only issue she was having was how best to style her hair to make the whole thing flow.

Kalli was a fan of her flowered headdress. She thought it was very nice and kinda wanted to keep it, but it didn’t match with the new dress. Her eyes went up, as if she could actually see her current adornment, as she debated on what to do. After a few minutes her hands left her hips and came up to remove the headdress. Her fingers had their work cut out for them since the small combs on the inside kept it firmly in place in her hair. All in all it took her a good five minutes to wrestle the thing out. As she held it in her hands she looked over it, fingertips gently caressing over the petals of the flowers. They were fake of course, there was no way she could keep real ones so vibrant all the time, or even that she could find the same kind of flower over and over again in all territories.

She took a step over to her dresser and put the headdress on its display. All of her accessories and jewelry had a special place to go so that it didn’t get tangled or lost. Kalliope made sure it was secured before she started to remove the rest of her stuff. If she was going to go with this new look then she needed to start with a blank canvas. So her rings, bracelets, necklaces, belts, anklets, all of it had to come off. Her hair even had to be taken down from her current style. Kalli was going to do this the right way. She wanted to view the new teal piece by itself and work from it. She was sure the color would be the focal point and the patterns on the material would draw the eye to other bits of her body. From there she could accent it more.

When all the jewels were taken off and her hair was down she moved to remove her current dress so that she could slip into the new one. This took another few minutes as both dresses were a bit complicated in their own right but eventually she was changed. The Oban woman turned to her full length mirror and stared at the image she saw. The color was dazzling. She’d been right about it getting all the attention. But it also made her skin look so nice. The perfect shade to compliment the dress. And her hair too! She decided she would wear it down for now until she had a better picture of what to do with it.

Her hands smoothed down her sides, feeling the fabric and a smile fit onto her face. Kalliope couldn’t help but feel she felt beautiful in the new dress. After a minute of staring she turned back to the bed and looked at the new jewelry she’d gotten to match. First she picked up the necklace. It was longer than what she usually wore but she thought it would compliment the plunging neckline the dress had. It would also draw the eyes of the audience to her cleavage. While she hated to say it, part of her job was to make people pay attention to her body. The way it moved to the music and had the ability to tell a story through each small movement. Once it was secured around her neck she checked her reflection again to make sure that it still looked good.

Next were the earrings. She bent over the bed to grab them from where they lay then she brought them to her ears one at a time. They fit perfectly and the weight of them didn’t pull too much. As she once again looked at the mirror she noticed that her hair covered them up a good bit. If she wanted to show them off more then she would need to wear her hair a different way. Or at the very least move more so that her hair gave glimpses of them so that people looked closer. Of course she wasn’t there to show off earrings so it might not be a big deal.

After that came the thinner bracelets. She got them to make her wrists look more delicate. They were thin gold with small sparkling gems to draw the eye when she made gentle hand motions. Kalli had a feeling she would be doing more with her hands and feet than she had in the past. She wasn’t as young as she used to be so hopping around likely wasn’t going to be a major point for her dances. Not that that was a bad thing. Rings followed soon after and she seemed pleased with how things were looking.

The anklets that matched the bracelets on her wrists were next and last were the flats. With everything on she paused once more to look at the mirror. It took her breath away and she truly felt like a beauty. Kalli felt young again really. Possibly even pre-pregnancy. While she didn’t regret having her children she did think her body wasn’t as firm and attractive as it had been before she'd had her twin boys. Looking at herself now she could see that wasn’t true. (Nevermind that Gael had been telling her that this whole time, he was biased clearly and his opinion couldn’t be trusted when it came to her looks.)

She gave a small twirl and grinned at what she saw. Yes, she was very happy she made these purchases today. Now just to find out what to do with her hair. She gathered it up in her hands and held it up. She was trying to figure out if she should wear it up or down. Or some combination of the two. In truth she was a fan of both so she just needed to see which would look best with her new dancers outfit.

She turned her head from side to side as she really gave the situation some thought. Kalliope wanted to make her return to dancing a time to remember. Both for her and for her audience. So she wanted to look her absolute best no matter what. As she turned her head to the right she watched the mirror and got an idea. Of course she would need a few things. Mostly a brush and some ties and pins so that she could get her long hair to cooperate with her but she was certain the end look would be well worth it.
