Gael 1/10
He hadn't been too thrilled with having to set sail when he had but his captain wanted to get ahead of some storm fronts. Of course the man couldn't argue. Being part of the crew for as many years as he had he understood that his captain cared for the men aboard his ship, even if he didn't outright say it.
Gael thought to send a letter home, to his lady and daughter, once he was done with his tasks. They'd just anchored in and were working to unload some shipments before new stuff was brought to them tomorrow. As he stood there waiting for the others to secure the load below deck he noticed there was a post runner speaking to the captain on the dock. Nothing too unusual. But the captain turned and pointed to him and the boy came running up.

Kalli
It hadn't been but a week or so after Gael had set out that she'd made a trip to the healer. The signs were there, and she'd been through it before, but she wanted to be sure. It would be bad to write to Gael only for it to be false. Of course that visit had confirmed what she had thought and so she'd written him right away and made it known that the letter was to reach him immediately.
Now all that she had to do was wait. Since the two often wrote back and forth when he was away she knew the general times for when letters would reach him. She looked out the window of their home and smiled at the sun. If the weather had held then he should be getting that letter today.

As the boy reached him and seemed to be out of breath Gael simply waited for a second before questioning him. "What do you need?" The boy held out a letter that was very clearly addressed to him. Gael could recognize the elegant writing on the outside as Kalli's. "Oh, thanks." He took it from the boy before he dug into his pocket and took out a coin to pay him with for the delivery.
The boy nodded his thanks, still out of breath, then turned to leave. Gael frowned a little. Kalli had never made it mandatory that a letter be brought to him, he usually just went and picked it up once he was done with work. It made him have a certain sinking feeling in his gut. Was something wrong? Had something happened? Was he needed home right away?
All of those thoughts raced through his mind as he turned the letter over and opened it to read. As his eyes skimmed over the first few lines he got a feel for the mood of the letter and quickly realized there was no danger to anyone. It made him relax some. Of course about half way done he read a few little words that seemed to make everything stop. We are with child. Gael blinked a few times at those words.

Kalli
She put a hand protectively on her stomach and started to hum as she stared out the window. Kalli wasn't showing yet and she wondered if she would be by the time Gael made it home from his work trip. The way she phrased the letter she told him she would wait for him to come home before telling the other children but if he was gone too long then her appearance might give it away. Of course she could just stay hidden in the house the entire time if that were the case.
The thought made her chuckle and she turned away so that she could go back to what she'd been doing. She wanted to finish some of the heavier cleaning now before she was too far along to lift much.

The captain had seen the look and had come up to provide support if it was needed. "What's the matter boy?" He asked his crewman.
Gael looked up at his captain with a blank look before it truly hit and a broad smile broke out on his face. "Kalli is pregnant!" Unable to control his emotions he wrapped his strong arms around his elderly captain and half lifted the man up off the deck. "We're having a baby!" The man laughed as he let go of his captain and looked back at the letter in his hands. "Haha! This is great news!" Much better than what he had suspected when he'd seen the runner.
"I need to get home!" He said to himself. Gael looked at the captain then with a bit of question in his eyes.
"Calm down boy, we're headed home day after tomorrow." The captain grinned at him.

Kalli
As the day came to an end she wondered if she should look forward to a return letter from Gael or if he would rush back home to her. To her knowledge he had never left a work trip halfway through. Not that he wouldn't, simply because he had had no reason to. The dancer thought to herself that this was no reason to either.
She took a deep breath and pulled her hair back so that she could tie it up. For now she would finish with the sweeping then go to bed. There was much to get done in the next couple of days.

It had been a week since he'd gotten the surprise letter from Kalli about her condition and already they were swinging into port. The captain came down, leaving the first mate to steer, and clapped Gael on the shoulder. "Boy, don't worry about the day's work. The crew and I will handle it, you get on home." He winked at Gael before walking away.
He wasn't about to argue with that one. "Thanks captain!" Gael waited just long enough for the ship to be anchored and tied in and the walkway to be laid down before he was practically sprinting to the dock. He waved to the crew and gave his thanks to the other men who were cheering for him but he was on his way home!

Kalli
Thinking that Gael might have written back she went to the post office to see if a letter waited for her there. Each day she did this to make sure she didn't miss anything. No letter was there for her though. So Kalli was walking back home, her hair pulled up into a messy bun.
"Well if there was a storm at sea then it would be delayed so.. maybe tomorrow?" She tried to calculate the date but it was hard to do with so many variables involved.

Luckily he didn't have to make it all the way home before he spotted Kalli. Judging from the direction she was walking it looked like she had been anticipating a letter from him. A grin broke out on his face and he came up beside her before wrapping his arms around her, careful not to squeeze. "You beautiful goddess!" Gael lifted her up off the ground and half spun around with her.
He set her down and made sure she knew who he was before his hand went to either side of her face so that he could give her a kiss.

Kalli
She caught a glimpse of blue arms going around her and almost panicked but the voice that followed the affectionate hug made her laugh out. Kalli knew instantly who it was and why she hadn't gotten a letter back! "Gael!"
When she was set on her feet she smiled at him just before he gave her a kiss. She returned it of course. "Welcome back. Now I see why I didn't get a letter from you." She chuckled and brought a hand up to cup his.

After the very public display of affection for his special someone he pressed a kiss to her forehead before he pulled away to look at her. "When did you find out? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" There were so many questions he had.
He moved so that he was beside her and holding her hand so that the two of them could walk back to the house together. He wanted to hear everything and figure out what their next step was. It wasn't a totally unexpected thing, they'd spoke of children before but now he wasn't sure what to do first. The nursery or shopping. Or both.

Kalli
Was pleased when he decided to walk with her while holding her hand. It was such a simple thing but she truly adored it. Stepping a bit closer to him she leaned her head against his shoulder as they walked. "I found out just a few days after you left. I felt a bit strange but in a good way so I went to the healer." And it was a good thing she did. She'd gotten the best news.
"I wrote to you right away." She looked up at him then. "I wanted to share the good news."

"I am sorry that I was out working when you found out." He apologized for not being there for such a discovery. It would have made the moment more perfect he was sure.
He brought her hand up to kiss the back of it as they turned onto the street they lived on. It was on the outskirts and that made things a lot quieter, more calm. "When did you want to tell everyone else?" He was excited to spread the news. First he needed to tell Brexxa that she would be a big sister, and Jax and Djego of course. Then they had a whole laundry list of family members to tell.

"No no, it's alright." She could never be mad at him for going to work and making sure the family was provided for.
As they got closer to their home she smiled more serenely. Soon they could sit down together and enjoy a relaxing night. "Hm.. I think we should tell the kids soon. I don't want to keep it from them." It was a joyous thing! Certainly letting them share in their joy would be nice.
"Do you think we can invite them for dinner tomorrow?" Since Brexxa had half moved in with them it wasn't too much of an issue for her. Jax she was sure would be able to attend as well.

His lady was too sweet. With a grin he moved to quickly sweep Kalli up so that he could carry her the rest of the way to their home. "Dinner tomorrow is fine." He agreed with a nod of his head.
"Tonight you will take it easy. I will do everything for you." And if he had his way he would do everything for her for the next several months too. When he was home anyways. He knew there was another trip planned soon. "Should we go shopping tomorrow or would you like me to start on the nursery?" He was eager to get things ready for the little one.
